Two 97 Point Cote Rotie Ready to Drink

Two BIG TIME Syrah's from the same vintage with similar press. These should be starting to hit their stride right now, and they would make for a very interesting side by side tasting, as they are both from the Cote Brune. Or, you can enjoy them with a fancy meal featuring lamb or venison. (in stock at our Kirkwood location only or online for transfers)
2017 Saint Cosme Cote-Rotie...$69.99
The more recognizable name of these two wines, Saint Cosme is a negociant in the Rhone Valley that specializes predominantly in Gigondas, but this wine is nothing to shake a stick at!
From nose to finish, this Syrah offers depth and nuance. Opening notes of menthol, eucalyptus and burnt sage accent ripe but restrained blackberry and cassis. It’s an invigorating sip, studded by crisp black-fruit flavors, hits of black pepper and fine tannins that extend the finish.
Rated 97/100 Wine Enthusiast

2017 Domaine Garon Cote-Rotie Les Rochins...$93.99
Originally the Garon family sold all of its fruit to Guigal, but now the winery bottles about 90% of their wine under the family name. It is top notch, and a fraction of the price of Guigal Lala's!
More powerful and backwards, the 2017 Côte Rôtie Les Rochins offers more black (and some blue) fruits as well as stunning crushed flowers, violets, liquid rock, spice-driven aromas and flavors. Taking time to open up, it's full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, has fine, silky tannins, and a great finish. It's the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted, and while it needs 3-4 years of bottle age, it should drink fabulously well for two decades.

95 Point Red Burgundy New to STL

Check out the huge press for this red Burgundy! The famed Chateau lays claim the largest Monopole in Burgundy and is a 1st timer to STL!

With its array of celebrated sun-soaked vineyards and captivating sights, the village of Pommard is surrounded by ageless, timeless beauty. At it’s heart, is Château de Pommard, a historic estate established in the early 18th century. The estate’s walled Clos Marey-Monge is a 20 hectare monopole and a UNESCO heritage protected Burgundy climat, cultivating century-old vines. The distinct, but complementary, terroirs are farmed biodynamically, naturally fermented, and aged separately, creating wines of complexity, power and grace.

Known for giving body and structure to our Clos Marey-Monge Monopole, our Grands Esprits cuvée is a Pommard of great quality, appreciable as such. With its ruby, violet-tinted color and its expressive nose marked by aromas of ripe black fruit, fresh rose and sweet spices, it stands out as a generous and robust wine. A long and mineral finish brings a touch of elegance to this complex vintage. 20 months in 20% new French oak barrels - winery notes

Château de Pommard Clos Marey-Monge Grands Espirits...$109.99
The Grands Esprits has the highest limestone content of all the plots of Clos Marey-Monge and this supple, silky Pinot Noir with vibrant acidity and firm, angular tannins is a fantastic representation of this terroir. Red cherry and raspberry flavors are intensely ripe yet zesty, accented by tangs of tart blood orange and a deep granitic undertone. Approachable young, the wine is likely to improve through 2035 and hold further still. ANNA LEE C. IIJIMA

2021 ROAR Spring Releases

VERY LIMITED 2021 ROAR Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in stock at Kirkwood!
We have less than a case of each, they will move fast!

Gary and Rosella Franscioni started ROAR Wines with the knowledge that Pinot Noir had a shining future in the Santa Lucia Highlands, and a dream that their farming know-how would translate amazing grapes into amazing wines. Rosella’s Vineyard was planted on their home ranch in 1996, followed by Garys’ Vineyard in 1997 in partnership with the Pisoni family. The first vintage of ROAR was released in 2001, made from these two vineyards. From the beginning, Gary and Rosella’s mission was to make wines that they themselves would love to drink. Their approach was met with critical recognition almost immediately. Two more beautiful vineyards were planted about a decade later: Sierra Mar and Soberanes. Today, Gary and his sons continue to improve and innovate in the vineyards and winery to produce the best quality their land can create.

2021 Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands...$49.99
The Harmonizer - Connects the melody in a pleasing chorus that satisfies the whole audience. Leaves no one behind, sweeping the crowd into the cheer.

Tasting Notes -A harmonious blend of tropical fruit, toasty texture, and minerality. It seemlessly melds the different faces of northern and southern vineyards for a quaffable staple that will make you all warm inside.

2021 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands...$54.99
The Stalwart - Honors where it comes from and doesn't sway. It's steady and true, a practice of consistent devotion to what it stands for.

Tasting Notes - Fruit-driven and wrapped in leather and sagebrush, this blend melds elements from all of our vineyards. This approachable Pinot integrates the best of north and south within the Santa Lucia Highlands.

2021 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard...$79.99
The Godfather - The leader of the gang that everyone looks up to for inspiration and advice. Wields power like a boss and shows its softer side with ease.

Tasting Notes - Leather, tobacco, and cola in a dense, masculine cloak of ripe dark berries makes one imagine sipping this in an old 19th-century library. This wine has a refined richness that stands out, and ages beautifully.

2021 Pinot Noir Sierra Mar Vineyard...$74.99
The Explorer - Our adventurous maverick, the first to jump into the pool or off the cliff. But don't be fooled, this explorer is complex and sensitive, a deeply layered original.

Tasting Notes - Dark mountain berries and spice dominate this Pinot, with a stream of fine minerality snaking through. Wild, savory elements interplay with plump fruit flavors. A delicate, yet mysterious red that plays well with many cuisines.

Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut -
Disclaimer: we do not have the batch they rated
While this is bottled in Memphis, Tennessee by B.R. Distilling, Blue Note Juke Joint is a Kentucky straight bourbon, and it’s a big one. That’s due in large part to being bottled at barrel proof, coming in at 58.75% ABV. The nose is fruit-forward, evoking freeze-dried strawberries, strawberry Blow Pop, cherry cobbler, pumpkin pie, and black tea with honey. The palate is hot, but not to its detriment, and it’s wonderfully creamy throughout. Chocolate-covered cherries are at the fore, joined by lemon-poppyseed muffin, fresh-squeezed lemon, grated ginger, brown sugar-cinnamon oatmeal, and a hint of licorice. The finish is long, inviting you to take another sip. —Julia Higgins

New Lambic Beers from Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen

3 Fonteinen Perzik Geel...$42.99 / 750ml
As local harvest has been non-existent for the last three summers, we looked farther to find the juiciest of peaches. Hence, for this Perzik, we macerated freshly hand-picked yellow peaches from an organic producer in the north of Spain. We only used two -and- three year old lambikken for macerating. Maceration took almost five months. The weighted average age of the peach blend upon bottling is almost 24 months. The final proportion of fruit used is 384g per liter of Perzik.
6.7% ABV | 01/05/2022
3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze 2021...$13.99 / 375ml
For this particular geuze, we blended four lambics brewed by ourselves and one lambik from another, fairly new small traditional lambik brewery. The lambics originate from four different oak barrels. Three of the lambics used were between 25 and 27 months on the date of bottling. One of the two-year old lambics was brewed with the Witte van Vlaanderen wheat variety, and was cultivated in Pajottenland by our Cereal Collective.
7.3% ABV | 02/23/2021
3 Fonteinen Perzik Rood...$43.99 / 750ml
For this Perzik, we macerated red O'Henry peaches for almost five months in two- three- and four-year old lambikken. And we blended with even more four-year old lambikken. This makes the weighed average of the complete blend clock in at almost 34 months upon bottling. The final fruit proportion is 390 grams of fresh peaches per liter of finished Rode Perzik.
6.2% ABV | 01/20/2022
3 Fonteinen Langste Kriek...$39.99 / 750ml
For this Langster Kook / Longest Boil - a special version of the Cuvee Armand & Gaston- we brewed a typical lambik wort, but with an extended boiling time. We usually boil for five hours- the highest in the lambik world and about tenfold of modern beer brewing. Now, we boiled a whopping eighteen hours. 18. Hours. After a full year of barrel fermentation and maturation, we blended with a young portion of lambik to assure continued bottle fermentation. With a weighted average age of the blend almost twelve months upon bottling this is a rather young geuze, but all lambikken were brewed with Pajottenland grains from our own Cereal Collective.
7.4%ABV | 02/23/2022
3 Fonteinen Schaarbeekse Kriek...$58.99 / 750ml
This Schaarbeekse Kriek has macerated for a full twelve months. We used locally grown and hand-picked Schaarbeekse sour cherries and lambikken originating from five different barrels and nine different brews, both young and two-year old lambikken. This way, the weighted average age of the blend upon bottling was still well over 17 months. The final fruit intensity is 347 grams of Schaarbeekse sour cherries per liter of Schaarbeekse. In the brews, half of the cereals used was sourced in Brabant, Belgium.
6.3%ABV | 07/20/2021

Clos Saint Jean Chateauneuf du Pape

This 2020 Old Vine CDP is fantastic and a great price!
2020 Clos Saint Jean Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes....$59.99
Leads with warm ganache and fig bread notes, followed quickly by raspberry reduction accents that take some time to unwind. Showcases plum pâte de fruit, sanguine and black licorice notes, with a flicker of Turkish coffee underscoring the finish and giving this a decidedly dark profile in the end. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Vaccarèse and Muscardin.
Rated 95/100 The Wine Spectator
As usual, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes brings more richness and depth without losing any sense of elegance or balance. Blackberries, ground herbs, chalky minerality and loamy earth flow to a ripe, medium to full-bodied, seamless, incredibly elegant 2020 with tons of character. It will evolve for 10-15 years as well. Best after 2022.

It's medium to full-bodied, plump and fleshy, attractive lemon and apple character with lemon grass, following through to a full-bodied palate with plenty of delicious fruit at the end.
We represent three generations of wine estate owners in the south of France. Our soil is mostly sand-clay, mixed with old river stones from the Ice-age, often mixed with eroded soil coming from the garrigue covered hills. This region benefits from the largest number of sunshine hours in France, important for the aroma development, photosynthesis, and maturing process. The north wind, called « Mistral », blows up to 100 days a year, and keeps the vines clean and healthy. Our aim is for the wine to be an expression of the grape and of the terroir. Our wines are fruit driven, with roundness , some spices, complexity and long finish.

Ben Holladay 6 Year Soft Red Wheat Bourbon BIB

Sold out yesterday, but back in stock today  and back online!
Ben Holladay 6 Year Soft Red Wheat Bourbon BIB...$49.99
Soft red winter wheat
Mash Bill: Corn 73% | Wheat 15% | Barley 12%

The finest bourbon results from an ideal combination of climate and geology that is rare outside of Kentucky but is found in the rolling hills of Weston, Missouri at the Holladay Distillery.
It is remarkable how one ingredient in a recipe can change the entire taste profile of a spirit. Holladay Soft Red Wheat is crafted with the original Holladay recipe with one substitute: wheat for the rye. Holladay Soft Red is made in the original stillhouse, barreled in Missouri white oak barrels, aged onsite in iron-clad rickhouses, and bottled at 100 proof.
Using wheat in a bourbon mash bill often results in a softer and sweeter taste profile than a bourbon made with rye, which typically adds spice to the palate. Soft Red Wheat has lower protein levels, red bran, and minimal gluten compared to other classes of wheat. Bourbons crafted with Soft Red Wheat offer a soft, smooth finish just as the name suggests.
Holladay Soft Red Wheat Bourbon is one of the very few bottled-in-bond wheat bourbons on the market aged 6+ years and it was worth the wait. To meet the rare and prestigious requirements to be classified as Bottled-in-Bond, a product must be distilled, aged, and bottled in the same location to assure a mark of authenticity.
It is also classified as a Real Missouri Bourbon under a 2019 law requiring that any whiskey labeled as Missouri bourbon must not only meet the federal standards for bourbon, but also be mashed, fermented, distilled, aged, and bottled in the state; aged in oak barrels manufactured in the state; and—beginning January 1, 2020—made with corn exclusively grown in the state.
The Holladay Distillery was founded in 1856, making it both the oldest distillery in the state of Missouri and the oldest distillery west of the Mississippi still operating on its original site. The property sits on active limestone springs that were first charted by Lewis and Clark in 1804, more than fifty years before Ben Holladay purchased the land that would later become his legacy.

Brasserie de la Senne

Brasserie de la Senne Taras Boulba Extra Hoppy Ale...$4.99 / 11.2oz bottle
Taras Boulba is a thirst-quenching beer, light and refreshing, with a strong character. It is a blond beer, slightly veiled. On the nose, it develops fragrances of noble hops added cold (dry-hopping), which give it a herbaceous, floral and slightly lemony touch.
The whole is completed by malty notes of fresh cereals as well as by fruity/spicy aromas of fermentation. Its bitterness is powerful and its finish very dry.

Our Hippy Berliner was such a success that we ebbed to consumer demand and brewed a special edition with the addition of cooling cucumber. On the palate this beer is puckering, but very refreshing, full of cucumber, citrus and balanced by light hopping, finishing very clean.

Kulmbacher Brewery Kapuziner Weisse Wheat Beer

Kulmbacher Brewery Kapuziner Weisse Wheat Beer...$3.49 / 16.9oz can
The perfect refresher! Classic Bavarian wheat beer made the right way, with a lot more flavor than the competition.
Kapuziner Weisse is made in the traditional fashion, using roughly equal portions of wheat and barley malt, a small dose of fresh hops and a special yeast that produces wonderful fruity flavors. It matches a yeasty, citrus tang with a spicy complexity and a surprising light, almost tropical fruitiness. Malted wheat guarantees a big head that just won’t go away and gives a firm, yet silky texture. Live yeast is left unfiltered to give the beer a hazy glow that is powerfully seductive.
Wheat beer – probably the most refreshing in the world – was once the beer of summer in bavaria. beer lovers have come to appreciate it also as a hearty and satisfying brew, and now enjoy it year ’round.
Bavarians will tell you in all seriousness that this is the perfect beer to start off the day. Unfiltered wheat beer is also reputed to be an excellent hangover remedy. But we consider it a delight at any time of the day.
Style: Wheat Beer

Amazing Italian Cheese

In stock at Kirkwood! $23.99/lb

Crucolo is an artisanal, semi-soft cow’s milk cheese that comes from the Trentino region in northern Italy. The milk used to make this cheese is selected from cows that roam the pastures beneath the Trento Mountains.

It is a semi-soft cheese aged for over 60 days in the cellars of Rifugio Crucolo, at the entrance of Val Campelle, Trento. This unique environment gives the cheese its particular taste and rich aroma. Pale straw yellow, it has the deep rich butteriness common to a 100% cow’s milk cheese.

Crucolo has a surprisingly tangy finish to its creamy flavor, and the interior is irregularly pocked with tiny holes. This cheese is soft and melts in a superior fashion with a very delicate aroma.
