Two BIG TIME Syrah's from the same vintage with similar press. These should be starting to hit their stride right now, and they would make for a very interesting side by side tasting, as they are both from the Cote Brune. Or, you can enjoy them with a fancy meal featuring lamb or venison. (in stock at our Kirkwood location only or online for transfers)
From nose to finish, this Syrah offers depth and nuance. Opening notes of menthol, eucalyptus and burnt sage accent ripe but restrained blackberry and cassis. It’s an invigorating sip, studded by crisp black-fruit flavors, hits of black pepper and fine tannins that extend the finish.

2017 Domaine Garon Cote-Rotie Les Rochins...$93.99
Originally the Garon family sold all of its fruit to Guigal, but now the winery bottles about 90% of their wine under the family name. It is top notch, and a fraction of the price of Guigal Lala's!
More powerful and backwards, the 2017 Côte Rôtie Les Rochins offers more black (and some blue) fruits as well as stunning crushed flowers, violets, liquid rock, spice-driven aromas and flavors. Taking time to open up, it's full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, has fine, silky tannins, and a great finish. It's the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted, and while it needs 3-4 years of bottle age, it should drink fabulously well for two decades.
