Benton's Smoky Mountain Bacon

Benton's Smoky Mountain Bacon -- back in stock at Forsyth
A fresh batch of one of the smokiest bacons available

This bacon is smoked the old fashioned way for two days.

"Our hickory smoked country bacon is equally at home on a bacon, lettuce, and vine ripe tomato sandwich or on the breakfast table as it is wrapped around a premier cut of beef or a fish fillet. Hickory smoked in our smokehouse using an old-fashioned wood stove, each slice of our bacon has a distinctive full flavor that has attracted and maintained a broad spectrum of customers, from those looking for smoked bacon “the way grandpa made it” to gourmet chefs with the most distinguishing of tastes." -- Bentons

Their bacon has been featured in Gourmet Magazine, Saveur Magazine, and Southern Living Magazine.
Their bacon has been featured in Gourmet Magazine, Saveur Magazine
and here is an excerpt from Southern Living Magazine. "This is, hands down, the best bacon I've ever tasted....Benton's Smoky Mountain Hams come from a much closer source: Madisonville, Tennessee. You don't have to take my word for it though. Just ask the farmers and chefs. Some of the nation's top culinary stars make magic with Benton's hams. Local farmers bring their personal hocks to be cured by the five-man shop that competes with industry giants. The secret? They do things the slow way—using meat-curing practices thousands of years old. "Everything is done by hand," says Allan Benton, who speaks about curing ham with a passion that other men reserve for sports. Until recently, he kept his clients' addresses on yellowed sticky notes taped to the wall. "We're a hillbilly operation through and through," Allan says. And wonderfully so. The transformation from pork to perfection takes place in a smoke-stained cinder-block building on the side of a Tennessee byway. In a traditional process that's never rushed, whole hams get slathered with salt, sugar, and the family's secret spices; then they cure—for 7 to 14 months—on wooden racks. Out back, where the scent of smoking meat hangs thick in the air, Allan opens a sooty door to reveal the mysteries behind his bacon. As the fresh air clears out the little room, a tiny potbelly stove appears. "This is my smoke generator," Allan says. "I bought it for $50 from a cousin." Order now, because publicity has driven demand for Benton's products, especially the smoked bacon. Allan loves telling the story of a Vegas casino that paid hundreds of dollars for an emergency overnight shipment. But then, who knows better than a casino how to bring home the bacon?" -- Southern Living Magazine, November 2007

Boulevard Tank 7 American Saison Ale

Now in CANS!

Boulevard Tank 7 American Saison Ale...$11.99 / 4pk-16oz cans
When our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in fermenter number seven. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

With its balance, carbonation, and complex flavor profile, Tank 7 is one of the ultimate food-pairing beers in existence.

Stone Viking Space Probe Double IPA

Stone Viking Space Probe Double IPA....$15.99 / 6pk cans
In the spirit of all the exploratory missions deployed across the galaxy — be they spacecraft, Viking or other — we’re constantly probing the world of beer back here on Earth. That quest has brought us to this latest creation, which comes from our brewing team at Stone Brewing – Napa. With a subtle haze reminiscent of some far-off nebula, and further complemented with the juicy flavors of Ella and Citra hops, this beer is most definitely out of this world. Crafted to be enjoyed on Earth, but if intelligent life does exist out there, we’re pretty sure they’ll like it too.

Bodegas Chacra “Barda” Pinot Noir Patagonia Argentina

Burgundy from Patagonia?
For years we have seen collaborations between famous Bordeaux Chateaus and Argentine Bodegas, the likes Caro (Bodegas Catena and Baron Rothschild) come to mind, but rarely have we seen a Burgundian collaboration, until now plus throw in some great press too! We are very excited to offer our second vintage from Bodega Chacra Barda Pinot Noir from Patagonia, made in collaboration with Jean Marc Roulot, owner and winemaker of Domaine Roulout in Meursault.  This one is even better than last year!

2018 Bodegas Chacra “Barda” Pinot Noir Patagonia Argentina...$21.99
A brambly array of bright, ripe dark fruit with a lithe and juicy feel that carries a bold, deliciously fresh array of dark-cherry and blueberry flavors long on the finish. Zingy and energetic. 10 to 15 per cent stems in fermentation. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Rated 94/100 James Suckling
The 2018 Barda saw 60% of the volume matured in concrete to keep the freshness and crunchiness of the Pinot Noir fruit in the wine, and the rest was in barrels for eight months. It's lighter than 2017, which was very concentrated given the extremely low yields, and the wine goes back to the balance of previous years (with normal yields); there's great harmony and purity here. The palate is fresh, the flavors are clean and pure and there is great length. There's great energy. It has to be one of the finest vintages of Barda. This is an incredible value, a great Pinot Noir from Río Negro at a very attractive price point. 2018 saw good yields, and they were able to produce around 100,000 bottles.

Bittermilk Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Fashioned...$18.99
At Pappy & Company, we recognize that not everyone is a bourbon purist. Sometimes, you just want to mix it up. Pappy & Co. Barrel Aged Pepper Sauce...$12.99
Aged in Pappy Van Winkle Barrels
Recently nominated as a finalist for the 2019 Good Food Awards!
It's high noon on a hot, Southern summer day. The sun shining brightly from cloudless sky, the humidity as thick as honey. It's a purifying heat; the kind that makes you feel like you've accomplished something just by being brave enough to weather it.

We've taken that heat and bottled it.

In partnership with another family owned business (and our friends), Midland Ghost, we've created an exclusive hot sauce. Made with their famous, locally grown, first generation Ghost Peppers and aged in our Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels for a rich, smoky, oaky heat. We mellow out the heat of the ghost peppers by adding some mild red peppers to the mix. The result is the perfect blend that makes this a smoky pepper sauce you can add a dash to just about anything from meats and vegetables to Bloody Mary cocktails.

Go beyond the grill, and discover all of the culinary fun you can have with our hot sauce.

Codigo Rosa / TWCP / Brett Hull Single Barrel Championship Rosa...$57.99
Special Collector Edition!
Código 1530 Rosa begins with the purity of our Blanco, then rested for 1 month in an uncharred Napa Cabernet French White Oak barrel. The result is a refined spirit with a natural color as beautiful as its taste. Our Rosa has rested just long enough in our fine cabernet barrels to enrich the natural agave juice, yet not too long to prevent overpowering its delicate floral notes.

Wayne Gretzky No. 99 Canadian Whisky...$29.99
Whisky made the Canadian way – locally sourced grains are individually distilled, matured and blended, then finished in red wine casks from our Wayne Gretzky winery.

Wayne Gretzky No. 99 Canadian Whisky 99 Proof...$69.99
The most premium of whiskies, 99 proof is a whisky to sip neat or with a drop of water. Our local grains are individually mashed, distilled and aged in 100% American Oak barrel, and finished for more than 100 days in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from Wayne Gretzky Winery. Each barrel is hand selected by our Master Distiller for the quality of the spirit, and finished in our rickhouse.

Wayne Gretzky No. 99 Canadian Whisky Ice Cask...$44.99
This rich, inviting whisky is barrel aged according to Canadian tradition and finished with Wayne Gretzky Ice Wine Casks. It opens with a nose of English Toffee and dark chocolate with hints of clove and spice. Subtle sweetness imparted by the double maturation and Icewine casks works in harmony with the rye spice. The finish is long, lasting and complex.

If you are heading down, come taste and take the metrolink down in our parking lot!

Crown Point Winery Happy Canyon Santa Barbara

Crown Point Winery Happy Canyon Santa Barbara

We are super excited about this new find for the shop. With Winemaker Simon Faury who has spent time at the likes of Pichon Baron, Harlan, and Robert Mondavi, and consulting Winemaker Phillipe Melka, Crown Point has the star power to make some of California's best Cabernet. Our first offer from this winery is the 2014 Estate Selection, the debut vintage of this classic Bordeaux Blend.

2014 Crown Point Estate Selection Red...$119.99*
A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Malbec and 11% Merlot, the 2014 Proprietary Estate Blend displays a deep garnet-purple color and nose of blueberry pie, crème de cassis, baked berries and spice box, plus touches of mocha, violets, black soil and charcoal. The very full-bodied palate reveals a behemoth of a Bordeaux blend, offering concentrated blue and black fruit notes and a very spicy undercurrent, framed by velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with great persistence.
Rated 96/100 The Wine Enthusiast
The 2014 Estate Selection incorporates smaller amounts of Malbec and Merlot and was also aged just over two years in new French oak. Its similarly inky colored, yet has a touch more freshness and purity in its leafy herbs, chocolaty dark fruits, graphite and mineral-laced aromas and flavors. Concentrated, structured and lengthy, with plenty of ripe tannin, it's terrific today, in a youthful sort of way, but will be better with short term cellaring and keep for two decades.

Clos Erasmus “Laurel”

A pair of stunning wines from Priorat's most decorated winery and winemaker.
This has been a store favorite for years now!

2017 Clos Erasmus “Laurel” Priorat....$51.99
The 2017 Laurel is a blend of the younger vines, some barrels that were declassified from Clos Erasmus and the remaining Cabernet Sauvignon, and in the low-yielding and dry 2017 vintage, it's 70% Garnacha, 20% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 15% alcohol. The wine fermented mostly in concrete and oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in a combination of oak vats, concrete, used barriques and amphorae for 16 months. They produce this to be approachable from the moment it's released. The 2017s feel very aromatic, open, expressive and young, quite primary, tender and juicy and surprisingly fresh for a dry, warm year that resulted in a very early harvest. There is a peachy, soft, approachable quality here that I like very much. Surprisingly enough, winemaker and proprietor Daphne Glorian sees reminiscences of the 2013s in the 2017s, and I have to agree.
Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate

2017 Clos Eramus...$179.99

The just-bottled 2017 Clos Erasmus is a blend of Garnacha with 25% Syrah that fermented with indigenous yeasts in oak vats and matured in 228-liter oak barrels (40% new). It feels very aromatic, expressive and open, floral and elegant and surprisingly fresh for the conditions of the year. It's still young and undeveloped, with the puppy fat still to be rendered, and right now, it comes through as juicy and elegant, with very good freshness and super fine tannins. It's very aromatic and floral, really impressive for 2017. It seems like the year was much better in the Mediterranean part of Spain than in the rest of the country. 3,000 bottles produced.
Rated 98/100 The Wine Advocate

J.P. Droin 2018 Chablis

A pair of beautiful Chablis from JP Droin at pre-tarrif pricing! Even without the proposed 100% tarrif we have seen prices creeping up on our favorite Chablis producers, luckily it seems Droin's suberb 2018's haven't taken the same increases as of yet. We bought all we could of these two gems.

2018 JP Droin Chablis AC....$26.99
More than 35 plots with an important holding between Vaillons and Montmains. This has a very attractive, fresh mango and peach nose with a super fleshy, open and drinkable palate. Lower acidity, higher flavor. Drink on release.
Rated 90-91/100 James Suckling

2018 JP Droin Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru...$39.99
This blend of five different plots sees a small amount of oak – 25% in a mix of new to six-year-old barrels. Attractive white peach, lime and lemon on the nose. A supple palate, fresh and almost crunchy, and quite contained with lemons and white peaches throughout.
Rated 91-92/100 James Suckling
