Belvedere Vodka Heritage 176

Belvedere Vodka Heritage 176...$29.99

A Taste of Vodka's Past - A New Spirit From Belvedere's Master Rye Distillers.
With Belvedere Heritage 176 (2020 Ultimate Spirits Challenge - Finalist - 94 Points), Belvedere’s Master Rye Distillers apply fire to the rye before distillation, to further demonstrate its potential for nuanced taste. Belvedere Heritage 176 is quite simply a taste of vodka’s past. Up until the 19th century, Polish vodka-makers relied on the old technique of ‘malting’, using fire-kilned drying —a tradition which also naturally revealed rich and distinctive flavors. Over time, as the vodka category expanded, and technology evolved, these old traditions sadly faded out, and vodka became more associated with neutrality.

Belvedere challenges neutrality and believes that rye, the heart of our brand, delivers both distinctive taste and character. To demonstrate this further, Belvedere has revived this traditional malting technique which unlocks rich depth, flavor and complexity that would otherwise remain hidden in the rye. Rich, full-bodied and complex, with hints of honey, walnut and allspice, Heritage 176 is best savored over ice with a lemon twist. Discover the taste of vodka’s past.

A blend of 80% Semillon (aged in oak) and 20% Sauvignon Blanc (aged in tank), the 2015 Semillon - Sauvignon Blanc offers a brilliant, ripe, sexy, medium to full-bodied style that’s reminiscent of a top Bordeaux Blanc. With lots of caramelized citrus, brioche, lemon curd, and floral aromas and flavors, it’s beautifully balanced and one serious white. It’s going to shine on the dinner table for at least 4-5 years, and I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see it keep longer.

This gives way to a full-bodied, ripe, sexy wine that has sweet tannin and no hard edges on the palate, with beautifully integrated acidity, tannin, and oak. Drink it anytime over the coming 8-10 years.

Great Cabernet Value from Argentina
2018 Almarada Uco Valley Cabernet Sauvignon...$13.99
We had such great success with Almarada's Malbec we very excited to find out that made a Cabernet. Once we tried it, we knew we had to have it in our stores. This Cabernet leans toward Bordeaux in style. Nose of blackberry, graphite and a touch of tobacco. Medium to full body with rich fruit on the pallet and some nice silky tannins on the finish.
Antonio Mas was born in Mendoza and holds a BA in Agronomy from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. He has devoted his time to study every clone from the varieties he has cultivated and vinified and is one of the leading experts in his field. In 1992 he established the first Argentinean boutique winery: Finca La Anita. Antonio was inspired by the concept of French Choteau: vineyards of great genetic and variety purity, identifying clones of every variety, and growing grapes and vinify them near the same place where they were planted, from specific plots, true single vineyards. 2016 Finca Beth • 2km Malbec Cabernet Franc...$23.99
Suggested retail is $35
65% Malbec, 35% Cabernet Franc.
Sustainable Non-Certified
Less than 600 cases bottled
Now that the range has grown, the name of the original wine has been extended from simply 2km to 2016 2km Malbec Cabernet Franc, a blend of 65% Malbec with 35% Cabernet Franc. The two grapes fermented together in concrete eggs. Part of the wine matured in 500-liter oak barrels and the rest in 225-liter barriques for some 14 months. The style, source and process have not changed since the initial 2013 vintage. There's something earthy, floral (violets) and notes of wild berries and herbs. The palate reveals the signature chalky tannins from the limestone-rich soils from Altamira and that special tastiness and mouthfeel. 6,500 bottles were filled in August 2017.

2019 Bevan Dry Stack Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Bennet Valley...$37.99

You can smell orange blossoms as soon as you have the cork out of the bottle. Honeysuckle shows itself almost instantly, with hints of ripe grapefruit.

2018 Bevan Ritchie Vineyards Chardonnay Russian River Valley...$68.99
Guava, Meyer lemon, kiwi and blood orange fight for your attention. The nose is explosive and true to the wine’s deep flavor profile. Massive, but completely refined, this is as pure an expression of this vineyard as we have ever produced.

2018 Bevan Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast...$78.99
The Calera clone, with its deep raspberry and meaty, earthy core, dominates. Silky and plush with a long finish, this is a wine that demands your full attention. It is incredibly polished, with no hard edges, but has a lively energy that keeps it vibrant.

2017 Bevan Ontogeny Red Wine Napa Valley...$94.99
In 2017, we used more Tench and Sugarloaf than ever before to make sure that Ontogeny had the richness and depth that it has become known for. Sugarloaf Mountain Cabernet Franc was perfect for this, lending a beautiful blueberry and tobacco base. From there, we used Tench Cabernet Sauvignon for power, a kiss of Wildfoote for exuberance and a barrel of Sentinel Ridge for a little mountain tannin.
Cassis, black olives, tobacco, chocolate, toasted spice, and graphite notes all emerge from the 2017 Ontogeny, a more rounded, plush, sexy wine that nevertheless packs ample muscle, depth, and richness. It's a beautifully balanced, silky, awesome wine as well as a killer value.

2017 Bevan Tench Vineyard EE Proprietary Red...$226.99
65% Cabernet, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, and the blend gives us another layer of complexity and sophistication. This wine is suave and dapper… think Mr. Darcy in a bottle.
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Cabernet Franc from the redder iron soils in the center of the vineyard, the 2017 Tench Vineyard EE Red Wine is another incredible wine in this lineup. Deep purple/black-colored, with mineral-drenched notes of blackcurrants, ground herbs, earth, graphite, and crushed rocks, it has an “iron fist in a velvet glove” style on the palate, loads of tannins, good acidity, and a big finish.

What is Heritage Breed?
Basically many of these "heritage" breeds of chickens (and other animals) were becoming threatened because the large egg producers were favoring chickens that produced a quantity of eggs and not quality. To quote The American Livestock Breeds Conservancy (ALBC), "Modern food production now favors the use of a few highly specialized breeds selected for maximum output in a controlled environment. Many traditional livestock breeds have lost popularity and are threatened with extinction. These traditional breeds are an essential part of the American agricultural inheritance."

Some of the Heritage breeds that Dry Dock has includes:
Ameraucana Chickens - "Easter Egg Chicken" -- produces blue and green eggs
Barred Plymouth Rock Chickens -- Brown Eggs - pre-World War II - this was the most popular and most likely the eggs being eaten.
Rhode Island Red Chicken -- Light to Dark Brown Eggs
New Hampshire Chicken (see picture from Wikipedia above) -- Light brown eggs

"Dry Dock Farm is 3 acres of rich river bottom land near the village of Silex, Missouri. We purchased our farm in 2005. We are remodeling our turn of the century farm house and barn.
We grow Heirloom vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Our Heirloom tomatoes are bursting with that old time “picked from Grandma’s garden flavor”. We grow our produce and flowers using bio-intensive, no chemicals, no GMO seeds, and we enrich our soil with natural minerals, cover crops, worm castings and compost. We also raise Heritage chickens, turkeys, geese. ducks and assorted other poultry. Our birds are raised on pasture with fresh air and sunshine. They are fed a vegetarian diet, to provide you with the best tasting farm fresh eggs.

Dry Dock Farms runs a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
In basic terms, CSA consists of a pledge support to a farm operation so that the farmland becomes, either legally or spiritually, the community’s farm, with the growers and consumers providing mutual support and sharing the risks and benefits of food production. Members or shareholders of the farm or garden pledge in advance to cover the anticipated costs of the farm operation and farmer’s salary. In return, they receive shares in the farm throughout the growing season as well as satisfaction gained from reconnecting to the land. (USDA definition)

Failla Occidental Ridge Pinot Noir

We are very excited to have a couple of cases of the Failla Occidental Ridge Pinot Noir. Wines from this very special vineyard are hard to come by, only Failla and Rivers-Marie source fruit from Occidental Ridge and usually these wines are soaked up by restaurants around the country. Only 23 bottles available (we have to try a bottle).

2018 Failla Occidental Ridge Pinot Noir....$79.99
he 2018 Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard is a magnificent, head spinning wine. Inky dark fruit, violet, plum, licorice, hard candy, mint and sweet spice give the 2018 striking aromatic nuance, but it is the wine’s mid-palate depth and unctuous richness that stand out most. Even with all of its overtness and plushness, the 2018 remains light on its fee. That, in essence, is the magic of the Sonoma Coast – the way on which the wines feel ripe but not heavy. Wow. What a wine.
