St. Prefert new releases

2017 Domaine St. Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge...$42.99
All the 2017s from this estate are brilliant wines, and the 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape should be purchased by the case. It offers a ripe, sexy style as well as complex notes of ripe red and black currants, graphite, melted licorice, and incense. With ripe tannins and a layered, elegant texture, it’s a terrific example of the style of the vintage and will keep for 10-15 years.

With slightly more pronounced tannins than most vintages, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape should be set aside for a year or two and then consumed over the following decade. It offers fresh, vibrant blackberry and blueberry flavors, a full-bodied, velvety-textured palate and a long, tannic finish tinged with orange zest.

2018 Domaine St. Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc...$49.99
One of the whites of the vintage is the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc, a gorgeous, rich, layered effort that stays perfectly balanced and pure. Classic notes of white flowers, honeysuckle, white peach, and ample minerality all give way to a medium to full-bodied white that has loads of texture, good freshness, and a great finish. This is a brilliant Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc that makes a mockery of so many of the overly lean, fresh, so called elegant whites being produced today.

Elysian Rolling Stone Lager

Elysian Rolling Stone Lager...$8.99 / 6pk cans

Rolling Stone’ and Elysian Brewing Launch a New Lager Together
The Seattle-based brewery built its brand on music, and we wanted a beer that expressed our shared mission for supporting creative communities
By ROLLING STONE

We joined with Elysian Brewing Co., the Seattle-based brewery rooted in music and art, to produce Elysian Rolling Stone Lager, a high-end beer that embraces the spirit of music and looks to inject a bit more fun into the world.

This is the first time Rolling Stone has put its iconic logo on a craft beer, and it debuted February 1st at the Rolling Stone LIVE: Miami Big Game Experience. But now the smooth lager will finally roll out to beer lovers nationwide in April.

“The fact that Elysian has supported and been inspired by music and musicians since their beginnings makes this partnership a natural fit for Rolling Stone,” said Gus Wenner, Rolling Stone’s president and COO. “We’re excited and proud to share our first venture into craft beer with our readers — we put a lot of passion into this project, and we know they’re going to love it.”

It’s not just a shared love of music that helped forge the bond. Elysian’s approach to making beer is based on experimentation, collaboration, and boundary-pushing, a brewing approach aligned with Rolling Stone’s editorial mission. The brewery is fiercely proud of its culture of broad acceptance, and has long sponsored, supported, and actively participated in community events and celebrations that bring people together.

“This one’s for the rebels. Those with wandering souls who aren’t afraid to be their truest selves while pushing boundaries in search of authentic art and discovery,” said Elysian Brewing co-founder Joe Bisacca. “The Elysian brand was built on music and that gritty, unapologetic form of expression, which is in our blood. It fuels us to keep experimenting and spread love back to those who inspired us. And what better way to do that than with our friends over at Rolling Stone?”

Pikesville Straight Rye Whiskey refuses to be forgotten. First produced in Maryland in the 1890s, the brand, along with the rest of the once-booming Maryland Rye industry, was shuttered by prohibition. The brand reemerged after prohibition and became the last standing Maryland Rye, as the rest of the industry's production had ceased. Now produced in Kentucky from extra-aged barrels stored in prime warehouse locations, Heaven Hill keeps this historic Maryland mark alive with this award-winning six year old, 110 proof offering.

Stone Notorious P.O.G

New Batch!

Stone Notorious P.O.G...$15.99 / 6pk cans
Berliner Weisse with Passion Fruit, Orange and Guava
We’ve had plenty of fan-favorite beers over the years, but few have garnered the cult-like adoration of this one. Stone Notorious P.O.G. was originally brewed at our 10bbl Liberty Station brewhouse in San Diego, as a collaboration with comedian / actor Jonah Ray. It’s a tribute to the passion fruit, orange and guava juice (aka POG) he grew up drinking in Hawaii. This Berliner Weisse-style ale is loaded with the aforementioned trifecta of fresh, tropical fruits, making for a unique flavor that’s tart and refreshing yet deeply rich and complex. It’s as ridiculously tasty as it is deliciously unique.

Peirano Estate Vineyards Viognier

Peirano Estate Vineyards Viognier...$12.99
The Heritage Collection
Estate Grown, Lodi

Winemaking Notes:
The grapes were gently pressed and the juice allowed settling in cool stainless tanks for best results. Fermented to near-dryness, The Heritage Collection Viognier was then aged in all French oak barrels, of which only 4% were new. The process of small barrel aging will allow the wine to slightly concentrate its essence, while we make sure to keep the barrels topped every two weeks to keep out any oxygen.

Tasting Notes:

Peaches, pineapple, and tropical fruit are complemented by the scent of lemons and ginger. Lush flavors of fresh ripe peaches so juicy they drip down your arm are balanced by flavors of apples, pears and orange marmalade. The balance of fruit and a touch of sunshine lead to a refreshing finish. This wine will remind you of a spring day on a mountainside. We suggest serving this wine at 57-60 degrees, to allow the full characters of Viognier to shine through.

Double Gold Medal, Best of CA and Best of Class of Region at the CA State Fair Wine Competition!

Garage País 215 BC Ferment

2017 Garage Wine Co.
País 215 BC Ferment...$19.99
The name of the País bottling changes with each vintage, and the one from 2017 is the 2017 País 215 BC Ferment, which refers to the time País arrived "before Cabernet" (215 years before!). 2017 was the year of the terrible fires in Chile, and many vineyards were affected; in many cases, the vineyards acted as fire breaks with their greenness. In this case, the grapes were too green when the fire occurred, and as a result, there are no traces of smoke here. The wines in the Ferment series are co-fermentations of grapes from different vineyards, and the vineyards that were used for this wine are different—both are from Portezuelo and were harvested earlier because of the heat of the year and the fires. The wine is super fresh and clean and is also softer, more floral, less rustic and with more finesse than the 2015 I tasted next to it. The quality of the tannins is superb. 7,872 bottles were filled in December 2017.

Halcon Oppenlander Pinot Noir - small production - great wine

Very small, limited release

/

2017 Halcon Oppenlander Pinot Noir...$33.99
This medium-bodied wine blends good, nervy raspberry and sour cherry aromas with savory, woodsy flavors that are not so fruit-centered but tempting and complex, from black tea to rhubarb and mushroom. Good acidity and moderate tannins form a firm texture that will enable at least mid-term aging. Best through 2025.
Rated 92/100 Wine Enthusiast

The 2017 Pinot Noir Oppenlander was harvested on September 28, made with 40% whole cluster and aged in 20% new French oak. Pale to medium ruby, it's softly scented of cranberry, rhubarb, raspberry and blackberry hints with dried flowers, dusty earth and tea leaves with a citrus peel hint. Light to medium-bodied, it offers good concentration of sweet red berry fruit in the mouth, very softly structured with juicy acidity and finishing long and earthy. 215 cases were made.

Saison Dupont is back

Back in stock and at a better price too!

Saison Dupont Vieille Provision...$13.99 / 4pk 11.2oz bottles
The Saison Dupont is a top fermentation beer with refermentation in the bottle. Since 1844, this beer has been brewed in our farm-brewery, during the winter time. Then this beer became a second refermentation in the barrel.  During the next summer, this very thirst-quenching beer was served to the “saisoniers” which were working on the fields. Surely therefore, our Saison Dupont is considered as “the classic” among the Belgian season beers!
Coppery blond, the finest aromas and a strong bitterness transform this beer into a thirst-quencher with no equal, just the way it was created.
Our selection of yeasts is the perfect base for these typical aromas and ditto taste.
A real refermentation in the bottle, which will continue for a long time in your cellar, result into this complex and particular aromatic beer.

Saison Dupont Cuvee Dry Hopping Stryrian Wolf...$15.99 / 4pk

Every year, Dupont’s Master Brewer, Olivier Dedeycker, makes a special dry-hopped version of the brewery’s world famous Saison Dupont, allowing him to incorporate a different hop variety each season. For the 2018 edition, Olivier added Styrian Wolf hops—a Slovakian variety known for its exceptional tropical fruit notes—to complement the Saison’s iconic peppery flavor.
