Jensen Pinot Noir

Tough to get Pinot Noir to get!
only 6 bottles

2017 Calera Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard...$99.99
My favorite in the lineup, the 2017 Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard is stunning in every way. Gorgeous black raspberry fruits, lots of floral, scorched earth, and sappy herb aromatics, medium to full-bodied richness, flawless balance, and a great finish all make for one of the most captivating Pinot Noirs in the vintage. It's brilliant today yet should easily evolve for 15 years or more.
Rated 99/100 Jeb Dunnuck
The 2017 Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard is powerful and tightly wound today. That won't be an issue in a few years of course, but readers have to be patient. Star anise, cinnamon, dried rose petal, blood orange and mint give the Jensen an exotic feel that is impossible to miss. Deep and layered on the palate, the Jensen has plenty of depth, but the tannins need time to soften. I hope to taste this in another few years' time. The collection of three blocks in a sort of amphitheater yields a Pinot of real distinction.

2019 Saint Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape

2019 Domaine Saint Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition...$45.99
Melted licorice, plum sauce, cherry purée and black tea notes all meld into a silky, suave and seamlessly-textured wine that leaves a subtle echo of lavender at the very end. Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2032. 8,304 cases made, 692 cases imported
Rated 93/100 The Wine Spectator
Shimmering ruby-red. Expressive, smoke- and mineral-accented red fruit and floral scents show fine definition and pick up a spicy accent with air. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering appealingly sweet raspberry, cherry and candied lavender flavors that deepen slowly through the midpalate. Shows solid, spicy thrust on a long, smooth finish framed by velvety tannins. This is an exceptional example of an entry-level Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Rated 93/100 Vinous Media
Gorgeous black raspberries, strawberry, spring flowers, incense, and assorted Provençal spice notes all emerge from the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a medium to full-bodied, incredibly pure, utterly seamless 2019 that excels on all accounts. Madame Ferando continues to knock it out of the park in just about every vintage, and this is well worth seeking out. The base cuvée is 85% Grenache and 5% each of Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault, aged all in concrete tanks.
Rated 93/100 Jeb Dunnuck

This is the last time you will see these special cuvees!
These will be the last wines under the Domaine Saint-Préfert label; going forward, the wines will be under the Domaine Isabel Ferrando label. In addition, both special cuvées of Reserve Auguste Favier and Collection Charles Giraud will be discontinued in favor of a single Châteauneuf du Pape cuvée " -- Jeb Dunnuck

2019 Domaine Saint Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape Charles Giraud....$139.99
The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Collection Charles Giraud includes a big chunk of Mourvèdre and is 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre that was partially destemmed and brought up in demi-muids. If offers a deep ruby/plum color as well as a rich, savory, complex bouquet of black raspberries, cassis, toasted spice, cured meats, and graphite. The Mourvèdre really shows in this beauty, and it's full-bodied, concentrated, and structured, yet never loses its seamless, flawlessly balanced profile. It's going to need 4-5 years of bottle age but will have 20-25 years of ultimate longevity. It's another thrilling wine from this estate.
Rated 99/100 Jeb Dunnuck
This is large in scale, showing off a range of cassis, red tea, crushed plum, warmed cherry compote, Turkish coffee, melted red licorice and warm earth flavors, all seamlessly layered and carried through a lush, yet focused finish. The warm earth note provides the ground wire in the end as the fruit takes an encore. Gorgeous. Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Best from 2024 through 2040. 3,960 cases made, 330 cases imported
Rated 97/100 The Wine Spectator
Opaque ruby. A complex, expansive bouquet evokes ripe red7blue fruits, exotic spices and potpourri, all enlivened by a smoky mineral nuance that builds as the wine opens up. Sweet, chewy and energetic in the mouth, offering concentrated black raspberry, boysenberry, violet pastille and fruitcake flavors that show excellent clarity and back-end lift. The mineral and floral notes build on an insanely long, penetrating finish shaped by emerging, polished tannins. This monumental wine was fermented in concrete tanks and raised in demi-muids.
Rated 97/100 Vinous Media

2019 Domaine Saint Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape Favier....$71.99
The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Réserve Auguste Favier is based on 85% Grenache and 15% Cinsault, all from the Les Serres lieu-dit, and was brought up all in demi-muids. Black raspberries, spring flowers, pepper, and loamy earth and mineral nuances all make an appearance here, and this flawlessly balanced, medium to full-bodied Châteauneuf du Pape has incredible finesse and elegance while still bringing beautiful richness and length. It's not the biggest, richest wine in the vintage, but it shines for its complexity and seamlessness. It's pure class.
Rated 98/100 Jeb Dunnuck
Opaque garnet. Expressive cherry, black raspberry and incense aromas are complemented by building floral and exotic spice nuances. Sappy, seamless and penetrating in the mouth, offering appealingly sweet red and dark berry liqueur and candied lavender flavors that deepen as the wine open up. Shows resonating red fruit character on the wonderfully persistent, floral-driven finish, which is framed by polished, interwoven tannins.
Rated 96/100 Vinous Media
This has a seriously endowed and remarkably pure core of cassis and cherry purée, underscored by light leather, red licorice and violet notes that emerge steadily as they move through the silky finish. Power and grace. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre. Best from 2023 through 2036. 7,920 cases made, 660 cases imported
Rated 95/100 The Wine Spectator

Saint Prefert Isabel Ferrando Colombis Chateauneuf du Pape

2019 Saint Prefert Isabel Ferrando Colombis Chateauneuf du Pape....$139.99
3,720 cases made, 310 cases

The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Colombis comes from more sandy soils and is all Grenache raised in demi-muids. Wild strawberries, cherries, flowery incense, lavender, and loamy earth all make an appearance, and it's full-bodied, has a deep layered texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's another wine that needs a few years of bottle age, but it will deliver the goods over the following 15+. This is Grenache at its most elegant and seamless.
Rated 97+/100 Jeb Dunnuck
Deep, shimmering ruby. Expansive, mineral- and spice-accented red and dark berry preserve, incense, cola and garrigue qualities on the finely detailed nose. Palate-staining cherry pie, raspberry, boysenberry, floral pastille and fruitcake flavors show uncanny energy for their depth. The spice and floral notes dominate a seriously long, sappy finish framed by velvety, well-knit tannins.
Rated 96/100 Vinous Media

2018 Isabel Ferrando F601 Chateauneuf du Pape....$799.99
Named for the vineyard parcel from which it comes, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape F601 is entirely Cinsault, from vines planted in 1928. Aged in demi-muids, there are only 800 bottles of this new cuvée, so I suppose this review is largely academic. That said, when Cinsault performs like this, it's certainly worthy of note, as it's often used for rosé or (in Châteauneuf, an appellation where rosé isn't permitted) dismissed as a minor blending variety. This wine is anything but minor. Floral and spicy on the nose, supremely silky on the palate, nearly endless on the finish, it delivers the goods, cushioned by perfumed, herbal, cherry and raspberry fruit flavors. It's not quite as expansive or generous as the Grenache-based Colombis, but it might be more concentrated and longer on the finish. I've been deliberately conservative with my drinking window, as it's delicious now, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it showing well in a decade's time (assuming there's any left).

Jacob's Pardon Small Batch American Whiskey == new batch #2

Jacob's Pardon Small Batch American Whiskey....$79.99
batch #2 just arrived
109.3 proof
Aged a minimum of 8 years
BACKGROUND
Brothers. Bootleggers. Legends. Nearly a century ago, Jacob and Abner Taub crafted and bootlegged their own whiskey during Prohibition to support their family. Then one fateful winter night in 1929, their world came crashing down during a sting that would land the brothers behind bars.Six long years later, Franklin D. Roosevelt pardoned the Taub brothers. They were able to reignite their family business with their brother Martin and help launch Baltimore Club Whiskey. This would set into motion a family tradition that would span generations. The brothers served their time, and now, you can spend time enjoying Jacobs Pardon, a fine American whiskey that pays homage to their rebellious roots. Its complex, smooth, timeless, and frankly, a little liberating. It would be a crime not to enjoy it.
COLOR:  Rich gold, amber with flawless clarity.
NOSE:   Rich aromas of buttered sweet corn, brown sugar and espresso.
PALATE:   Tangy taste profile that’s deep in spice-driven baked ham, vanilla bean, and cinnamon bun flavors.

FINISH:   Long, pleasant sweetness with nuances of biscuit, wood and grain.

High West Whiskey American Prairie Bourbon
American Prairie Bourbon is a complex blend of straight bourbons producing an aromatic whiskey that helps preserve the West. It's great in cocktails, but has the complexity to stand on its own. American Prairie Bourbon is named after the American Prairie Reserve, a group working to create the largest wildlife reserve in the lower 48 states.
High West Whiskey Double Rye!
Marriage of two straight rye whiskies that combines the feisty properties of a high rye 2-year-old and the saddle smooth richness of a 16-year-old. The 2-year-old has a 95% rye 5% barley malt mashbill. The older rye has a "barely legal" rye mashbill of 53% rye and 37% corn. The extra age and corn provides some extra sweetness to calm the "bite" of the younger rye for a relationship that works. High west

Firestone Walker Parabola Barrel Aged Imperial Stout

Firestone Walker Parabola Barrel Aged Imperial Stout...$9.99 / 12oz
Of all the beers in our Proprietor’s Vintage Series, Parabola is the most notorious. It is always a beast of a beer, with intense flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate, vanilla and roast coffee-- yet each annual release also bears its own subtle imprint. We took the extra step of aging the beer entirely in 12-year-old bourbon barrels for this latest edition. These older-stock barrels accentuated Parabola’s signature richness with vintage-specific notes of stone fruit, fudge, and tobacco.
ABV - 14.10%
Specs:
No. Cases: 3000
Bottle Date: 1/3/21
Style - Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels

Enveloping, warm and spicy nose with an extremely wide spectrum of aromas, ranging from dried rose to graphite via thyme and smoked bacon. Very powerful, concentrated and earthy, yet there’s brightness in there that makes it shine, Stunningly fine tannins power the super-long finish. Drink or hold.
Rated 97/100 James Suckling
I loved the 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Laurence. It has a more classic style in its Provençal aromas and flavors of peppery herbs, garrigue, sandalwood, and charcuterie, with medium to full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. It’s a classic, complex, gorgeous wine in the making.

Eggenberg Helle Weizen

Eggenberg Helle Weizen....$9.99 / 4pk 16oz cans
Is natural and untempered. A deliciously refreshing – and at the same time rejuvenating – specialty brewed after the old Bavarian traditions, naturally with a fine yeast. Helle Weizen shows a light fruity taste which gives it its full aroma.
Brand: : Schloss Eggenberg Helle Weizen
Style: Hefeweizen
Origin: Salzkammergut, Austria
Description: Inspired by the delicate wheat beers of Bavaria, Eggenberg’s newest release is a full-bodied and open-fermented Hefeweizen brewed with both sunny days and snowy nights (on the slopes) in mind. Waves of banana and clove coat the palate as you’d expect any traditional Bavarian wheat beer to, but the hint of bubble gum that lingers behind is the first sign that just one sip of this beer won’t be enough.
Tasting Notes: Banana Cream, Clove, Bubble Gum, Raw Honey, White Pepper
Suggested Pairings: Gouda, Fried Poultry, Rice Pudding

Left Hand St. Vrain Tripel

Left Hand St. Vrain Tripel...$9.99 / 6pk cans
A Belgian-style golden ale with intricate aromas of fruit & spice.
The usually tranquil St. Vrain River flows out of the Rocky Mountains, winding peacefully alongside our brewery. But, what at first appears benevolent can manifest into something fierce and mighty. Named after the river that brought our hometown's great flood in 2013, St. Vrain is designed to pay homage to classic Belgian Tripels while also adding a uniquely local twist. Colorado barley creates a subtle malt sweetness and American hops bring rich herbal and floral aromatics, both perfectly complimenting the warm spice and fruit character of the Belgian yeast. What at first looks innocent, light in color and body, suddenly swells up with a strong current of aroma and flavor, and a 9.3% ABV.

Logboat Brewing Falling Fences Irish Style Red Ale

O'Hara's Irish Stout

Back in time for St. Patrick's Day!

O'Hara's Irish Stout...$9.99 / 4pk
The flagship of the O’Hara’s brand, this uniquely Irish stout brings one back to how Irish stouts used to taste. First brewed in 1999, it has since been awarded prestigious honours for its quality and authenticity.

O’Hara’s Irish Stout has a robust roast flavour complemented by a full-bodied and smooth mouth feel. The generous addition of Fuggle hops lends a tart bitterness to the dry espresso-like finish. This sessionable stout beer is filled with rich complex coffee aromas mingled with light liquorice notes. The combination of traditional stout hops with an extra pinch of roast barley allows us to stay true to Irish tradition, recreating a taste so often yearned for by stout drinkers.

O'Hara's Irish Red Ale...$9.99 / 4pk
This Red stands out in this beer style category. The malt body is as impressive as a bock, albeit in a uniquely Irish way. With an incredibly smooth malt body complimented by caramel tones and perfectly balanced in bitterness, this Irish Red is much more complex than it’s mainstream rivals.

Samichlaus Classic

Samichlaus Classic...$19.99 / 4pk
2021 Edition
14% ABV

Characterful - powerful
Brewed only once a year on the 6th of December, this strong beer is probably the most famous beer of our brewery internationally, with a large contest among the growing number of beer connoisseurs. The very elaborate and long-lasting manufacturing process (10 months in the warehouse) makes it a real rarity. Samichlaus can mature in the bottle for many years, older grades gain in complexity and maintain their creamy-warm finish. The proof: The 2004 vintage was at the World Beer Cup 2012 of gold medal winners in the category "aged beers".
