Old Dominick Huling Station

Huling Station Straight Wheat Whiskey....$39.99
More than 150 years after the big, bold whiskeys of 1866 Memphis, we went above and beyond the required mash bill for wheat whiskeys to develop a sweet, soft whiskey that boasts 83 percent wheat. With a lighter, more delicate profile and a lower proof than our pre-Prohibition style bourbon, Huling Station Straight Wheat Whiskey is the perfect approachable introduction to the whiskey world.
Huling Station Straight Wheat Whiskey opens with a light, sweet honey and a delicate grassy indication on the nose. The palate carries a hay-forward lightness with hints of the same pale honey featured in the nose, bookended by a surprising flash of smoked oak before settling into a medium, lightly-sweet finish.

Huling Station Blend of Straight Whiskeys....$39.99
We took the sweet softness of our Huling Station Straight Wheat Whiskey, and blended it with the bold warmth and complexity of our high-rye Huling Station Straight Bourbon to create a perfect harmony between the spicy whiskeys characteristic of the pre-prohibition age and the sweeter drams favored by many modern whiskey lovers.
Huling Station Blend of Straight Whiskeys features a slight wisp of warm baking spices on the nose, complemented by a hint of smoky oak. The palate offers up a creamy, warmed honey sweetness with short bursts of a pleasing grassy note that tapers into a rye warmth to go with its slightly higher proof. The finish is lingering and peppery with another appearance by the smoked oak to close it out.

Huling Station Small Batch Bourbon...$31.99
Huling Station is a small-batch bourbon; an homage to the whiskeys of pre-Prohibition Memphis, with a high-rye mash bill reminiscent of those offered by Domenico Canale in his heyday.
Huling Station Straight Bourbon opens with stone fruit, dark cherries, and creamy vanilla with a wisp of rye spice on the nose. The palate hints at cinnamon and rich caramel, as dry, subtle notes of pipe tobacco and velvety dark chocolate round out the finish.

Colin Spoelman of Kings County Distillery

Zoom Tasting with Colin Spoelman of Kings County Distillery

Wednesday, October 27th -- 6pm to 7:15pm

We have a great Zoom tasting coming up on October 27th with Colin Spoelman, owner and master distiller of Brooklyn’s own Kings County Distillery, one of the top craft distilleries in the U.S. We’re tasting four expressions including their single malt whiskey which is a personal fave of mine.

Here’s a great article about our host: read here

Purchase a minimum of one bottle to be included in the zoom tasting. Pick any one of the whiskies below and we’ll email you the Zoom invite. If you have already purchased one of the King’s County whiskies, email me at dave@winandcheeseplace.com

Kings County Straight Bourbon 90 Proof...$32.99 / 375ml
Kings County Straight Bourbon 90 Proof...$58.99 / 750ml
Kings County Straight Bourbon is a bourbon made like a scotch whiskey. We use 80% New York organic corn from the Finger Lakes, and English Golden Promise barley for a high malt recipe that avoids the wheat or rye typically in Kentucky bourbon. We double pot distill for a more flavorful white spirit, and age in a variety of new charred oak barrels for 3-6 years. Rich in caramel, vanilla, and holiday spice, this bottle is cited frequently in lists of best non-Kentucky bourbons.

Kings County American Peated Single Malt 94 proof...$32.99 / 375ml
Kings County American Peated Single Malt 94 proof...$58.99 / 750ml
Our Single Malt Whiskey is made almost entirely like a single malt scotch—except that instead of being made in Scotland, it’s made here in Brooklyn. Kings County Distillery’s single malt whiskey is open-fermented off the grain from malted barley (with a hint of peat) sourced from England and Scotland. The whiskey is twice distilled in traditional Scottish pot stills, then aged in our own used bourbon barrels for a minimum of three years. With a higher post-cask strength than our American-style offerings, this whiskey warranted a higher bottling strength—47%—and so it is more potent than its palate would suggest. Dry and sophisticated, it is an elegant whiskey with notes of honey, hay, burnt orange peel, and peat. It is a perfect addition to your shelves.

Kings County Peated bourbon 90 Proof...$32.99 / 375ml
Kings County Peated bourbon 90 Proof...$58.99 / 750ml
What is Peated Bourbon? It’s bourbon whiskey that conforms to the American requirements for bourbon but is made with malted barley that has been exposed to peat smoke, a practice more common in Scotch whiskies—the malt we use for the peated bourbon was even grown and kilned in Scotland. So it’s a hybrid whiskey of the two traditions, flavorful and robust from having aged at least 2 years in a new barrel, with an added light smoky finish reminiscent of single-malt. If scotch and bourbon had a baby, this is what it would taste like. As far as we can tell, ours was the world’s first-ever peated bourbon and will appeal to the adventurous whiskey traveler who has tried everything.

Kings County Chocolate Whiskey 80 proof...$29.99 / 375ml
Kings County’s Chocolate Whiskey infuses our Moonshine with ground cacao bean husks from a local chocolatier. Bitter and surprising, this rich whiskey tastes like dark chocolate and works great in cocktails or on its own as an after-dinner drink.

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

Seasonal back in stock!

Brooklyn Brewing Black Chocolate Stout...$12.99 / 6pk

This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. In the 18th century, Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, ordered a stout to be sent to her from England. This beer was brewed strong and hoppy to survive the sea voyage, and it arrived in perfect condition. Soon "Russian Imperial Stout" became the toast of the Russian aristocracy. Brewed since 1994, our Black Chocolate Stout has itself become a modern classic, heralded the world over. It achieves its dark chocolate aroma and flavor through the artful blending of six malts and three distinct mashes. Properly kept, it will improve in the bottle for many years. This stout is the toast of the winter season in many countries, and there is nothing better to enjoy with chocolate desserts, cheesecake, ice cream, fine cheeses and roaring fireplaces.

Given this beer’s higher ABV and sturdy character, we think it’s a prime candidate for cellaring. Find a cool, dry spot away from light sources, and see how it changes in the years to come. You never quite know what will happen when you age a beer: perhaps the body will smooth out, notes of vanilla, oak, and tannins will come to the front, or hints of leather and soy sauce will make themselves known. No matter what, remember that beer is meant for drinking, so don’t keep it to yourself for too long.
Style: Russian Imperial Stout
