Roar Garys' Pinot scores big

2016 Roar Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard.....$58.99
Deep aromas of candied black cherries, ginger snaps, star anise and iron-laced soils are rich and inviting on the nose of this single-vineyard expression. Boisterous, energetic flavors of red fruit meet with cinnamon, annatto and, on the finish, the buzz of Sichuan peppercorn. Drink 2020–2030.
Rated 96/100 Wine Enthusiast
Another more forward, sexy wine is the 2016 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard, and it has impressive plum, Bing cherry, sappy flowers, and herb-like aromas and flavors. Rich, nicely textured, with notable tannin, and a great finish, it’s going to drink nicely right out of the gate as well.

2016 Lucia Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard...$63.99
The 2016 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is another terrific 2016 from this estate. Brought up in 40% new French oak, it offers a focused, elegant, medium to full-bodied style as well as terrific notes of violets, blueberries, spice, and earth. It has terrific purity, elegance, and length, and is one of the finest examples I’ve tasted of this cuvée.

2016 Chateau Pesquie Le Paradou Grenache...$9.99
The Le Paradou label is a joint venture between the Ventoux's Chateau Pesquie Chaudiere family and importer Eric Solomon. The 2016 Vin de France, which has already been bottled, is 100% Grenache and comes from vines in the Ventoux and the Roussillon's Agly Valley. It was brought up all in concrete tank. Deep ruby colored, with awesome notes of garrigue, pepper, kirsch and dark fruits, this beauty hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, no hard edges and a great finish. It sells for a song and way over-delivers.

Firestone Walker 2018 Parabola Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout...$8.99 / 12oz bottle
Parabola is a beer of darkness and immensity, a barrel-aged beast that is routinely ranked as one of the top beers in the world. This Russian imperial oatmeal stout is aged for a full year in Heaven Hill barrels, developing flavors of rich, chewy roasted malts, charred oak and bourbony vanilla. Parabola bares its teeth with its impenetrable black hue and soaring alcohol, yet its bite remains refined with a silky, balanced finish.

Firestone Walker Under Currants....$11.99 / 375ml
Wild Ale Fermented with Black Currants
In 2018 we challenged ourselves to using an array of fruit new to our palettes and practices. When offered a high quality freshly picked Black Currant sample, we couldn’t resist. We present to you a metamorphosis for your senses. Using 12 to 36month aged Agrestic Ale as a base, to which we add 1.5lbs/gal Black Currants, the beer undergoes the final maturation in our French Oak “Fruiders” for an additional four months. A convergence of supple tannin and deep purple pigments, gooseberry jam, a mouth-watering acidity and earthy leather elicit notes of a beer having vinous roots. A new variant to one of the Barrelworks pioneers is born. Santé!

Firestone Walker Stickee Monkee...$8.99 / 12oz
Barrel-Aged Central Coast Quad 2018
Brewed with Belgian candi sugar and aged in a selection of fine bourbon barrels, Stickee Monkee trailblazes its own category as a “Central Coast Quad.” The name Stickee Monkee is a nod to the Central Coast’s native Sticky Monkey flower, as well as a shout‐out to the Belgian monks who pioneered the Quad style.
It has been said that the only constant is change and the same is true for barrel-aged beers. Cut from a similar recipe, this barrel-aged Quad evolves and shows a different face each year; a result of time spent aging in the barrel. Turbinado brown sugar from Mexico adds wonderful molasses flavors that are reminiscent of Belgian candi sugar. It has a full body and lush texture with barrel expression all over; toasted oak, coconut, leather and rich cigar tobacco.

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones MOther of Dragons...$10.99 / 750ml
Smoked Porter and Kriek Blend
Brewed and blended for a leader who takes what is hers with fire and blood, Mother of Dragons is a blend of a smoked porter and a Belgian kriek, representing the smoke and fire that Daenerys has unleashed on her opponents.
“Mother of Dragons represents in beer one of our favorite characters from Game of Thrones. Daenerys’s ascent from obscurity has been one of the most inspiring storylines of the show, and we’re thrilled to release a blend that embodies the character traits that have underpinned that rise,” said Doug Campbell, Brewery Ommegang president.
Mother of Dragons pours a deep ruby-tinted mahogany with a creamy tan head. Aromas of chocolate covered cherries intertwine with subtle smoke and roasted malt. The flavor is rich with tart cherry up front leading to a center palate of semi-sweet chocolate then resolving to subtle smoke and mild sweetness. The mouthfeel is luxuriously creamy and full, and the finish is semi-dry with lingering notes of smoke and cherry sweetness. Mother of Dragons is 6.5% ABV and pairs well with smoked gouda and charcuterie, braised meats, and rich desserts like flourless chocolate cake and cherry cheese cake.

Game of Thrones Queen of the Seven Kingdoms...$10.99 / 750ml

Press release....
*clink* We’re pleased to announce Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, the second of four special beers in this year’s Game of Thrones-inspired Royal Reserve Collection. Inspired by Cersei Lannister, this exceptional blend of Belgian sour ale and Belgian-style blonde ale will be available only in the United States, beginning in late June. A list of distribution states will be available earlier that month when the beer begins shipping to wholesalers. Details about the collection and the first beer are below in the press release.

Brewery Ommegang and HBO® announce Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, second beer in Game of Thrones®-inspired Royal Reserve Collection

(COOPERSTOWN, NY) The first beer in Brewery Ommegang and HBO’s Royal Reserve Collection is just hitting stores this month, but the second beer is already on the horizon! Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, the second in a series of four special, limited release beers, each designed and brewed as an homage to one of four epic figures in the battle for the Seven Kingdoms, is brewed and blended for Cersei Lannister.

An exceptional blend of Belgian sour ale and Belgian-style blonde ale, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms is fitting for the fair-haired ruler who is as acerbic as they come. Available throughout Ommegang’s distribution network on June 29, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms will be offered both on draft and in 750ml bottles. The suggested retail price for a bottle is $12.99.

“Cersei is a complex character, and we’ve tried to emulate that profile with this beer, which blends a lovely, dry blonde ale with a subtly tart Belgian sour,” says brewery president Doug Campbell.

“When we set out to create the Royal Reserve Collection, we knew we had to pay homage the character currently sitting on the Iron Throne. We’re very happy to present this tribute to the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms herself, Cersei Lannister” said Jeff Peters, Vice President of Global Licensing and Retail, HBO.

Queen of the Seven Kingdoms pours a pale gold color with a brilliant white head. Aromas of melon, citrus, and lactic acidity meld together with fruity esters from the Belgian yeast. Tart citrus flavors soften to sweet malt flavors with notes of apricots. The finish is dry and crisp with a subtle citrus bite from the lemon peel. Queen of the Seven Kingdoms pairs well with sharp aged cheeses and salty cured meats, red meat or dark poultry, and spiced desserts like pumpkin pie or apple tarts.

The Royal Reserve Collection features four brand new beers in the brewery’s Game of Thrones-inspired series with HBO. All of the beers will be available on draft and in 750ml bottles. The series begins with Hand of the Queen, a barleywine, which launches in April, then Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, followed by two additional beers that launch in October and December 2018. Details and images of future beers will be announced throughout the year.
