Join both Maplewood Brewing’s Jeff Doerr and the The Wine and Cheese Place’s own Whiskey Dave for a tasty tour of some serious beer and cheese action. We originally brewed this beer at the end of 2008 to bid farewell to growler sales, only to underestimate the demand for the first double IPA in Minnesota. We brewed the beer again in spring 2009 and the rest is IPA history. Also history: 16 Grit, the beer’s first handle and a size of abrasive grit used at the old abrasives factory that houses the original Surly mothership in Brooklyn Center.

This year's raffle will take place the first week of December.   Your purchases will count from December 1, 2019 until November 30th 2020 at 7pm.  Each $600 you have spent (average of $50 per month) this past year will count as a raffle ticket.  It will be a weighted raffle. A weighted raffle based on previous 12 months purchases to reward our regular customers.

Sorry, we cannot tell you how much you spent in the past 12 months. Too time consuming of a process if we allow everyone to ask.

This release will go through our BRC and will based heavily on Main and Mill purchases of these cans.  Many asking how this will be released.  Each 4pk you purchase will count as a raffle ticket for a chance to purchase a bottle of the Barrel Aged Stout

This has been a pub favorite since we opened...but is something we typically only do once a year. It's a 4.5% stout that's meant to have imperial stout flavors while remaining super drinkable. While it's a lower ABV, it still has solid body. This is coffee forward with additions of vanilla, cacao nibs, and cinnamon with very light maple in the background.

The Rothaus Brewery is Germany’s highest brewery by elevation, at 1,000 meters above sea level. Situated in Germany’s beautiful Black Forest, the brewery was first established in 1791. Today, Rothaus is accredited as one of the most successful breweries in Germany, largely due to the high quality of their products.

Tannenzäpfle means “pine cone” in German – a fitting name as there are many pine cone producing spruce-fir trees in the Black Forest.

The icon, “Biergit” (beer girl), a Black Forest girl holding two glasses of beer, first debuted in 1956 and is now the defining symbol for all beers made for the Rothaus Brewery.

Tannenzäpfle Pils – Tannenzäpfle is made from the finest, all-natural ingredients Germany has to offer:
  • Water sourced from 7 natural springs in the heart of the Black Forest.
  • Malted barley from the Highlands and Valleys of the Black Forest.
  • Aroma hops from the Tettnang and Hallertau areas next to the Black Forest.

Notes of lemon, green apple, mandarin and passionfruit.   Great fruit and acidity give this one perfect balance.

From a 10 hectare plot of Picpoul grapes that were planted 12 years ago to clay/limestone soils and yielded 30 hectoliters per hectare. Fermented in stainless steel for one week followed by aging 4-5 months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled.
Pronounced “peek-pool de pee-nay,” Picpoul de Pinet is a designation or cru which may be used within the Languedoc appellation for white wines made exclusively from Piquepoul blanc from six communes: Pinet, Mèze, Florensac, Castelnau-de-Guers, Montagnac and Pomérols. South of Montpellier not far from the border with Spain.

A while back, we took our friends at 3 Floyds on a long strange trip down a deep, dark hallway past thousands of our bourbon, rum, tequila, and red wine barrels. We stopped to rest next to a collection of rye whiskey and Madeira wine casks, and after a few beers, we agreed that, yes, these were the chosen ones. A couple more beers and we heard them tell us they wanted to be filled with barleywine – and when barrels speak, we listen.

Deep Flux is a unique, pale barleywine that pours a rich auburn color with aromas of brown sugar, oak, and dark stone fruit. This malty brew is beautifully complimentary of its barrel aging, which spent 100% of its process in wood barrels and broke down into 60% in rye whiskey barrels and 40% in Madeira wine casks. The end result for Deep Flux is a big and boisterous barleywine with resplendent flavors of rye, Madeira, and oak lurking in the barrels.
We think you’ll agree that this beer is far from ordinary.
