1980 Blandy's Madeira Terrantez

1980 Blandy's Madeira Terrantez...$226.99
This is rich, with racy cut driving the clove, dark tea, bitter orange, date, walnut and hazelnut aromas and flavors. Ends on a note of buckwheat honey, staying dry. Drink now. 220 cases made.–JM
Rated 96/100 The Wine Spectator

As most of the varietals on the island, Terrantez was brought from the north of mainland Portugal, where it goes by the name of Folgasão. For many centuries this varietal has always been used in the production of premium wines, achieving high prices in the market.
Rare, Terrantez grapes are white, thin-skinned and extremely fragile. The compact bunches and berries make it prone to botrytis and berry splitting. The yields are very low and ripening late.
Due to its fragile nature, it has been replaced by more prolific varieties, and was therefore almost brought to extinction. Lately, the family has persuaded growers to bring back production levels. Any Terrantez Madeira is rare enough to be worth trying.

Love the depth of fruit with honey, pineapple and praline undertones. Full-bodied yet tight and polished with pretty phenolic tension and focus. Layered and precise. Drink or hold.

Valhalla, I'm coming! In the heat of the Kentucky summer, many WOOOOS! can be heard emanating from the park clearing. As was the foretold by the great prophecy, heroes battle defending might Asgard from the manner of jotuns and trolls. Hit points are lost, foam swords are bent and foil armor is crushed. Alas, we must celebrate the coming of Bragnarok, SKOL!

Have you heard this one?
Sure you have, but have you truly felt the sax appeal? This imperial Berliner Weisse style ale is a weapon of mass seduction. Wooing your thirst for something refreshingly tart, but unexpectedly big. With the help of our saxual friends at the Aviary and Rhine Hall, we aged this sensual liquid in apple brandy barrels for a little extra sax appeal. Rub it the right way and the jazz will come out.

SweetWater Goin Coastal...$8.99 / 6pk
Goin’ Coastal IPA
Cash in a sick day and grab another!
Slip into some sunshine and step off the grid by Goin’ Coastal with this pineapple laced IPA. The bright aromas of the five citrus hop additions are accentuated by the tropical fruit of the pineapple. And just like those three day weekends, its finish is quick. Golden copper in color with a full malt bill to bring the balance to our year round offering.

SweetWater Hop Hash IPA...$16.99 / 15pk CANS
Hop Hash Easy IPA
Keep on Keepin' On.
We kept the malt bill light to allow the hops to shine through. We dosed this sucker with a boatload of Amarillo Hop Hash. Pungent with floral, tropical citrus fruit flavors, and the hop hash gives it that one of a kind chewy, gooey, resiny mouthfeel. As the chaser, we are giving it a hefty dry hop to enhance the potent aromas. Ahtanum gives it orange and grapefruit tones, Crystal for a little kick of spiciness, and El Dorado bringing some pear and watermelon characteristics.

WOODLANDS PROJECT
SweetWater The Pit & The Pendulum with Cherries...$9.99 /375ml
A golden ale soured with lactobacillus and fermented with three brettanomyces strains, then aged for six months on American and French Oak with 3,000 pounds of Montmorency and Balaton cherries. Freshly harvested house brettanomyces was added for bottle conditioning, ensuring evolution in the cellar.

SweetWater Through the Brambles...$9.99 /375ml
A southern funk sour ale rich with notes of blackberry, oak, and filled with wild yeast and bacteria. Light bodied and rose in color this tart ale is dosed with Georgia grown blackberries and aged in an American Oak Foeder for 12 months.

SweetWater 21st Anniversary...$9.99 /375ml
For our next few anniversary releases we’re celebrating the beer mecca of Flanders, Belgium with a little east vs. west showdown. First off is an Oud Bruin (tr. Old Brown), which represents the style from the region of East Flanders. As the name indicates, this is an old style brown ale that uses a blend of microflora: bacteria such as acetobacter, lactobacillus and pediococcus; yeasts such as cultured saccharomyces yeast and brettanomyces wild yeasts to give the beer a specific sourness and funky aroma. We then aged it in American Oak foeders on top of cherries to give it a nice fruity punch that we know you’ll love.
