Dr. Adam Elmegirab's Bitters

(in stock at Forsyth now, will get them to the others on Monday)

We are proud to introduce to St. Louis

Dr. Adam Elmegirab's Bitters

Dr. Adam's Aphrodite Bitters...$19.99
A new bottling released in the summer of 2011, Aphrodite Bitters are a unique, hand-crafted cocktail ingredient which take their name from the Greek goddess of sexuality and love.
Aphrodisiacs are substances that are alleged to increase sexual desire and like many traditional bitters the botanicals selected for this bottling have been chosen for their alleged medicinal qualities, in this case as an aphrodisiac. The finest chocolate, cocoa nibs, ginger root, red chilli, Arabica coffee and ginseng are compounded to create a complex flavour profile with each botanical playing off and enhancing one another.
Paying homage to bitters of days gone by this bottling is a welcome addition to Dr. Elmegirab's bottle line and are in demand around the globe to be used in a number of classic cocktails and original libations such as the....

Dr. Adam's Boker Bitters...$19.99
Founded by John G. Boker in 1828, Boker's Bitters gained popularity in New York and around the World as the finest bitters of the Golden Age of mixed drinks. Boker's Bitters were famously the preferred brand of Professor Jerry Thomas and featured throughout his book, 'How to Mix Drinks or The Bon Vivant's Companion', now recognised as the World's first bartender's guide.
Despite being unequalled when used in the refined drinks of the bar, the devastating effect of The Volstead Act, commonly referred to as Prohibition, closed the Boker's company in the 1920s.
Referencing receipts dating back to 1853, these recreated bitters are compounded using the finest natural botanicals and are once again being used globally by bartenders in classics including the Japanese Cocktail, Martinez, Crusta and Improved Cocktail and original libations such as the...

Dr. Adam's Dandelion & Burdock Bitters...$19.99
Released in the winter of 2009, Dandelion & Burdock Bitters are a unique, hand-crafted cocktail ingredient created by Adam Elmegirab to satisfy the global bar community’s growing demand for new and exciting products.
Dandelion & Burdock is a traditional British beverage dating back to the 1300s and is believed to have been created by the Italian priest Saint Thomas Aquinas. They were famed for their alleged medicinal properties, like the many cocktail bitters that followed in later years, and were a favourite drink of Adam during his childhood.
Referencing a number of Dandelion & Burdock receipts, these bitters attempt to capture their flavour profile in bitters formulae. Compounded using the finest natural botanicals, these bitters are now being used by bartenders around the globe in a number of classic cocktails and original libations such as the
Chiapas Old Fashioned
created by Adam Elmegirab for Yatai in 2009;
50ml reposado Tequila
12.5ml green tea infused sugar syrup
2 dashes Dandelion & Burdock Bitters
Strip white grapefruit zest
Stir until ice cold and strain over ice into a chilled rocks glass.

Dr. Adam's Spanish Bitters...$19.99
A limited edition bottling reformulated in 2010; Spanish Bitters are a unique, hand-crafted cocktail ingredient by Adam Elmegirab, released later that same year to satisfy the demands of the global bar community.
During the mid-1800s Gainer’s Spanish Bitters were celebrated for their alleged medicinal properties and in particular were noted for their complex flavour profile that included layers of chamomile, citrus, spice, violet and berries. Using knowledge of patent bitters and referencing old formulae, medical journals and advertisements, these bitters now attempt to recreate the defunct bottling.
Compounded using the finest natural botanicals, these bitters are now sought after by bartenders around the globe to be used in a number of classic cocktails and original libations such as the:
Union Flip
created by Adam Elmegirab for the Licor 43 competition in July 2010;
1 Barspoon Caraway Seeds & 1 Whole egg
37.5ml Appleton 8 Year Old
37.5ml Licor 43
4 Dashes Dr. Adam Elmegirab's Spanish Bitters
5ml Sugar Syrup & 4 Crunches Black Peppercorn
Muddle caraway seeds in base of mixing glass, add remaining ingredients and dry shake for five seconds.
Fill with cubed ice shake hard for a further ten seconds and fine strain into a frozen liqueur glass.

Dr. Adam's Teapot Bitters...$19.99
Originally formulated in January 2012, Teapot Bitters are a unique, hand-crafted cocktail ingredient by Dr. Adam Elmegirab's Bitters, inspired by the combined medicinal history of tea and bitters.
Ancient tea and spice routes both shaped historic civilisations and their impact can still be felt today in Tea Rooms around the world, with beverages such as Masala Chai, spiced milk tea, being sought after globally as well as providing a
major influence to this bottling.
Compounded using the finest natural botanicals, these bitters are now sought after by bartenders around the globe to be used in a number of classic cocktails and original libations such as the...
Rum Punch à la Mim,
created by Adam Elmegirab in 2012;
75ml Diplomatico Anejo rum
25ml Smith & Cross rum
50ml Chilled green tea
30ml Housemade lemon sherbet
25ml Fresh pressed pineapple juice
6 Dashes Dr. Adam Elmegirab's Teapot Bitters

2010 Charton et Trebuchet Macon Villages....$14.99macon village
It all began in 1984… when Louis Trébuchet met Jean-René Chartron, a winegrower based in the village of Puligny-Montrachet.  Louis was a young Burgundian who was eager to set up his own company in order to use the experience gained as manager of a reputed wine firm in Beaune. Providence enabled the two to meet and discover their mutual passion for Burgundy and its wines.  The company is now owned and run by Vincent Sauvestre, 4th generation winegrower in Meursault with vines in the Cote de Nuits and Cote de Beaune including three Grand Crus and twelve Premier Cru wines.  Chartron & Trébuchet specialises in the vinification and the aging of great Burgundy wines.

MB Roland Distillery

We are an authentic Kentucky craft distillery, creating our spirits from grain to bottle.

Made from Smoked corn
MB Roland Black Dog...$29.99 / 750ml
(in stock at Forsyth)
We know of nothing else on the market quite like our "Black Dog." We "dark fire" (or smoke, for those of you from outside Western Kentucky) the corn in a tobacco barn, adding a smoky, sweet flavor to the spirit that is great sipped by itself or in a Bloody Mary or Dirty Martini.

MB Roland True Kentucky Shine....$23.99 / 750ml
(in stock at our Ballwin location)
Our "True Kentucky Shine" is an authentic, traditional moonshine mash of corn and sugar. This product is made in a similar fashion to our White Dog, except that we add sugar into the mash prior to fermentation. Due to the combination of the white corn and sugar, notes of apple peels and citrus are prevelant. The flavor is also slightly more neutral compared to the White Dog and proves to be a better mixer for most drinks.

MB Roland Kentucky Apple Pie...$23.99 / 750ml
(in stock at our Ballwin location)
There's only one "Kentucky Apple Pie," and it's made in Pembroke. We combine apple cider, brown sugar, apple pie spices and our own True Kentucky Shine. Here in Kentucky, "Apple Pie" is somewhat of a legend. Folks have been concocting their own versions of this for years, but this is the first legally produced version that you can take home. As always, this product is completely natural in every way, no added colors or flavors.

MB Roland White Dog...$23.99 / 750ml
(in stock at our Ballwin location)
Our "White Dog" is affectionately referred to as ourSilver Bourbon because it is made from our standard bourbon mash consisting of locally-grown white corn, rye, and malted barley. The white corn lends slightly sweet, floral notes, with the rye contributing some spice notes.

Saison

It’s not a smoke beer. It’s not a tart Berliner Weisse. It’s maybe a weird saison. BerlinerRauchSaison. Yes! Low gravity beer with good presence of wheat. A small layer of smoke malt disaper after a few sip. And light tartness and spice from the Saison yeast. Refreshing and flavourful at the same time.

Basque Cider

Sarasola Sagardoa Hard Cider...$9.99 / 750ml
6% ABV
"Sarasola Sagardoa is a traditional Basque cider from a cider house located in the apple growing hills of Astigarraga.

Pouring & Serving: Since Basque cider is “natural” and not sparkling the cider is poured by holding the bottle up high above the head and pouring into a glass that is held just below waiste level. Pouring from elevation allows the cidre to pick up some natural carbonation when it hits the glass. Sarasola Sagardotegi is located in the apple growing hills of Astigarraga, which is in the Basque Country region of Spain, near San Sebastian." - importer

"Most Basque cider, as indeed most cider varieties in Spain, is called "natural" because unlike many other European varieties it is still, not sparkling. It normally contains 4-6% alcohol and is served directly from the barrel in a sagardotegi.
The more recent traditions surrounding the sagardotegis hail back to the time when buyers interested in purchasing cider from a particular maker would bring along food for the tasting as it is considered best when taken with a meal.
This soon evolved into gastronomical tradition with the sagardotegis becoming a cross between a grill and a cider house. In a traditional sagardotegi, three courses are taken:
* starter: a cod omelette or cod with peppers
* main: a steak
* desert: cheese (often Idiazabal cheese), quince and nuts" -- importer

Whyte and Mackay Blended Scotch Whisky Special

In stock at Rock Hill, New Ballas, and Forsyth
Whyte and Mackay Blended Scotch Whisky Special...$15.99
Let our Master Blender Richard Paterson tell you about what makes Whyte & Mackay so Special in his video tasting notes.

colour: Rich, golden highlights.

nose: Full and round with a silky spectrum of soft nuances which are displayed immediately. An impeccable balance prevails with no individual malt or grain whisky predominating. The Double Marriage process of the 41 constituent parts has assured a lasting union - a perfect marriage.

This is the key to the blend’s success - time allows the aged malts to amalgamate and harmonise. The ‘vatted malt or blended malt’, as it is now known, is held in sherry butts and left for several months during its first marriage. Once again time is called upon. The blended malt is then mixed with six different grain whiskies and returned to another set of sherry butts to complete its second stage of maturation before it is finally bottled.

taste: By allowing the double married blend to drift over the tongue, the warmth of the mouth releases additional flavours - honeyed soft fruits arise in profusion. Seductively smooth, rich tones assert their influence in the background before giving way to a pleasing warm aftertaste which lingers long in the mouth.

This exceptional blend is a true reflection of its founders’ exacting standards.

New from Sam Adams

Penn 1681 Vodka...$24.99 / 750ml
Organic, local rye, distilled into a clean vodka everyone will love. 40% alc/vol. Distilled and Bottled by Philadelphia Distilling, Philadelphia PA
Company Overview
In 1681 King Charles II granted William Penn land which became the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Since then Pennsylvania has ranked as a leading agricultural area and has produced surpluses for export. By the mid 18th century, an exceptionally prosperous farming area had developed in Southeastern Pennsylvania with rye as one of the leading crops. The history of rye distilling in Pennsylvania dates back to before prohibition when many of the finest rye whiskeys for locally distilled.

Identifiable by its characteristically smooth and pure nature, Penn 1681 Rye Vodka appeals to those with discriminating taste. The column still removes rough and undesirable alcohols, resulting in a smooth drinking spirit to enjoy on its own or as the centerpiece of a favorite cocktail.

Handcrafted in Philadelphia, this spirit is carefully guided all the way from local Pennsylvania rye grains through the artisan distilling process and into bottles made locally from partially recycled glass for distribution and enjoyment.

Vieux Carre Absinthe Superieure

Vieux Carre Absinthe Superieure..$54.99

The French Quarter, locally known as Vieux Carré, is the soul of New Orleans, Louisiana. This city is replete with culture, architectural beauty and culinary arts. Philadelphia Distilling pays tribute to the unique and colorful history of Absinthe in New Orleans with the release of Vieux Carré Absinthe Supérieure. The first batch of Vieux Carré was released on December 31, 2008. It is the first legal absinthe to be distilled, bottled and sold on the east coast of the United States in nearly 100 years.

Vieux Carré is batch distilled using a “double maceration” process featuring the mysterious Grande Wormwood and Petite Wormwood. Green and Star Anise, Fennel Doux Provence, Melissa, Genepi, Hyssop and Spearmint complete the complex flavor profile. Vieux Carré is an original artisan spirit that combines historic processes with a modern expertise.

Vieux Carré’s flavor and color are derived exclusively from 100% natural herbs. The flavor is complex with both familiar and intriguing notes. The deep green color is reminiscent of a vintage jewel. The spirit is not over filtered, preserving the flavors extracted through the natural coloring process. A miniscule herbal particulate is natural if found.

The rich louche slowly builds as the essential oils refract light and create a dynamic opalescence. With the addition of chilled water the complexity of each herbal layer will come to fruition. The warm, long and lingering finish is harmonious, complex and subtle.

Dr. Bill Lumsden, Head of Whisky Creation, journeyed from the banks of the Dornoch Firth to the Mark Twain National Forest in the Missouri Ozark Mountains in the quest for the finest wood in which to mature Glenmorangie. Aged exclusively in hand-selected virgin casks made of slow-growth American oak, air-dried and never seasoned with Bourbon (as most other whisky casks are) ‘Ealanta’ is possibly the purest expression of whisky that Glenmorangie has ever created.
