2008 Martinelli Zinfandel Vigneto di Evo...$39.99
This tiny vineyard site is on Martinelli Road in Forestville, where the original family homestead ranch was founded in 1898 and where members of the family still live today. The planting of the vines date back to sometime around the turn-of-the-century. Evo Martinelli was the grandson of Giuseppe & Luisa Martinelli, whom emigrated from Italy and planted the Jackass Hill Zinfandel Vineyard. For five generations Martinelli children have lived and played together along Martinelli Road, scampering through the woods and swimming in the crik. First cousins Lee Martinelli, Sr. and Evo Martinelli were childhood friends and remained so into adulthood. Always having an interest in whatever happens to be growing on a grapevine, Lee, Sr. approached Evo one day and inquired as to what varietals were growing in the little patch of vineyard next to the hay barn. When Evo mentioned Zinfandel, Lee was very enthused and a deal was made. He soon began the caretaking and harvesting of the vines and Evo was thrilled that the grapes were going to a good home. We are fortunate to be able to include these old vines in making wine from one of Sonoma County's oldest Zinfandel vineyards. The “Vigneto di Evo” site lies directly below Jackass Hill, the grandfather of all Zin.
The wine is reminiscent of my Noni's blackberry cobbler, covered in brown sugar with a dollop of sweet fresh cream.

Tired of Oak...

Pick up this bargain....

2010 Chamisal Chardonnay Stainless Unoaked...$11.99
Compare to$18 on The Wine Enthusiast
"So rich in flavor, you won’t miss the absence of oak. The fruit carries the wine all by itself, offering waves of pineapples, limes, peaches, pears, apricots and vanilla bean. Zesty Central Coast acidity makes the mouthfeel crisp and brilliant."
Rated 90/100 The Wine Enthusiast

94 Point Lewis wines...

In stock now at Forsyth!

2009 Lewis Alec's Blend...$58.99
An amazing wine made in a rich, generous style, with loads of ripe berry flavors, including wild berry, blueberry, raspberry and plum. Full-bodied, it's fleshy and easy-drinking already, yet has the depth and concentration for cellaring. Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2022. 1,000 cases made.–JL
Rated 94/100 The Wine Spectator

2009 Lewis Cabernet Sauvignon Napa....$85.99
Turns up the volume in an agreeable way. Ripe and layered, boasting bold dark berry flavors and subtler notes of cedar, vanilla, mocha and melted chocolate that are pure, focused, persistent and well-structured. Drink now through 2022. 1,700 cases made.–JL
Rated 94/100 The Wine Spectator

2008 Lewis Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve....$119.99
Aromas of melted black licorice, dried currant, sage, herb and cedar are firm and focused, full-bodied and restrained, yet deep and complex. Ends with layers of spice, smoke, mocha, mineral and cedar. Drink now through 2020. 1,500 cases made. –JL
Rated 94/100 The Wine Spectator

Plus only made in great years...
2009 Lewis Cabernet Sauvignon "Masons Red"...$58.99
"Three's a charm. Named after Dennis's third son, this is our 3rd bottling of Mason's Cabernet, with previous vintages from 2006 and his birth year 2003. Mason's newest wine is his biggest and best yet. Saturated kirsch-like black fruits mingle seamlessly with savory oak spices in this complex blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (92%), Cabernet Franc (4%), Merlot (2%) and Petit Verdot (2%) all sourced from the same vineyards as our Napa Valley Cabernet. Youthful flavors of berry, malt chocolate and plum turn slightly more serious with supple tannins. 1,200 cases produced." -- Lewis

Old Pulteney Takes 2012 World Whisky Crown
World Whisky of the Year in the 2012

The most northerly distillery on mainland Britain and one of the most remote in all Scotland has won the coveted title of World Whisky of the Year in the 2012 edition of Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.

The Pulteney distillery in Wick, Caithness, scored a record-equaling 97.5 points out of 100 for its 21-year-old Old Pulteney single malt. It is only the third time that a single malt has ever won the prestigious award, and just the second Scottish distillery to do so.

This year Jim Murray tasted over 1,200 new whiskies plus many more re-tastes for the latest edition of his best-selling annual whisky guide.

Pulteney distillery, which dates back to 1826, is located in the heart of Wick and is much prized as a blending whisky. It is still relatively unknown as a single malt.

But Mr Murray, who has long admired the Highland malt, hopes that will now change - though he is the first to admit that even he was surprised when he encountered the 21-year-old.

He said: “I was on the home straight after four months of continuous tasting. By that time I was pretty sure I knew what the winner was going to be. With what I still had to taste it needed something exceptional to knock the leader off its perch. But that’s exactly what happened. To be honest, I was amazed. I knew the Old Pulteney 17-year-old was likely to be exceptional, and it was. However, I had never come across a Pulteney 21-year-old like it. Talk about coming out of leftfield…

“I first went to Pulteney nearly 25 years ago and I have never known them to produce anything other than top rate malt. Owned by a relatively small company, without the financial muscle of the major whisky barons to market their malts on the global stage, I hope that this award helps Pulteney to become better known around the world; that is the whole point of my Whisky Bible, after all”.

Beer from Jesse James Dupree -- lead singer and guitarist for Jackyl back in stock!
Jesse James America's Outlaw Beer....$8.99 / 6pk
Unfiltered Wheat Ale

AMERICA'S OUTLAW BEER is a true American original.  Our beer is an unfiltered wheat beer. American wheat beer is a style invented by specialty brewers in the United States in the 1980's. It may even stretch the definition of "style," for nowhere is the creativity and diversity of America's craft brewers better displayed than in wheat beers.  Our beer is crisp and refreshing with an extremely soft finish.  AMERICA'S OUTLAW BEER is brewed with 40% malted wheat. The remaining grain bill is a wonderful blend of Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts designed to provide more body and mouth feel. Our Nottingham yeast delivers the soft finish that consumers will enjoy time and time again. Wilamette, Fuggles, and Cascade hops balance this
refreshing beer perfectly.
This beer is delicious by itself or garnished with fruit.
AMERICA'S OUTLAW BEER is 5.5% abv.

From their website

Video of Jesse James Dupree talking about his beer...

Jesse James Dupree, frontman of Jackyl -- now has his own Bourbon

"Our old-time charcoal mellowed Bourbon Whiskey is made in the traditional manner that dates back to the late 18th century in the American South. Aged in traditional oak casks for a minimum of 36 months, Jesse James Bourbon Whiskey delivers exceptionally smooth, full-bourbon character. Every bottle has been meticulously handcraftedin spirit of America's true outlaw for the outlaw in all of us.

The Original Jesse James America’s Outlaw Bourbon Whiskey is distilled in the heart of Kentucky. Or simply put, “Made in the USA.” We have carefully selected the finest, home-grown ingredients to create this smooth Bourbon Whiskey. We start with a mash that is a minimum of 51% corn to distill The Original Jesse James Bourbon Whiskey. We use new, charred oak barrels for aging the Jesse James Bourbon Whiskey. Legally, we need to age Bourbon Whiskey a minimum of two years, but we aren’t in a hurry. We age The Original Jesse James America’s Outlaw Bourbon Whiskey for a minimum of 36 months. We take great care in producing a Bourbon Whiskey to stand up to the Outlaw in you!

Deriving it's style from the heritage of more than two hundred years of American distilling Jesse James American Outlaw Bourbon Whiskey pays tribute to those who came before while aiming to fill the need for a modern take on an age-old classic."

JESSE JAMES DUPREE

"It should come as no surprise that one of the hardest working frontmen in rock and roll (multi-platinum selling Jackyl) is as active behind the scenes as he is onstage. Jesse James Dupree and his multi faceted entertainment company, Mighty Loud Entertainment, has created and Executive Produced the smash TruTV series Full Throttle Saloon, acts as general manager for Kiefer Sutherland's entertainment company, Ironworks, as well as runs an imprint label of his own as a part of the Universal Music system. Now Dupree is moving into the world of spirits after a successful launch of Jesse James America's Outlaw Beer in major midwest markets, whose major challenge thus far has been to keep up with the demand resulting from an unconditionally enthusiastic welcome from the beer-drinking public. "I have personally been responsible for millions of gallons of beer and whiskey that have been consumed over the years. It should have all been Jesse James Beer and Whiskey and from here on out, it will be! I may be the driving force that makes Jesse James Whiskey available, but it belongs to and is a salute to all of us outlaws who bust our knuckles 40 or 50 hours a week, and like to do things loud, proud hard, and honest."

The Ghost wine...

In stock at Forsyth

Outside of Washington and California, Missouri is the only other state to receive this wine.
VALUE CULT IN THE MAKING!!
2009 Ghost of 413 Red....$15.99
This is a dynamic collaborative effort by Mark Ryan McNeilly and Chris Gorman!!
90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Secret
It’s Back….. Bigger and better than the last & at the same price too!
Dark and velvety rich with plenty of stuffing to scare wines twice the price
Only 5000 cases produced

More info

The first vintage came in 2005 when, as the story goes, Mark and Chris weren’t sure how the wine would taste, so they decided to keep their names invisible and the “ghost” was born.
No need to hide behind Casper this vintage, 2009 Ghost of 413 Red is not a phantom wine!
You’ll discover a ripe, rich wine that blends 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Secret.

Ghost of 413 is a collaboration between Chris Gorman (Gorman Winery) and Mark McNeilly
(Mark Ryan Winery). Inaugurated with the 2005 vintage, this project immediately captured critical and consumer imagination. Paul Gregutt first wrote about Ghost in 2007, explaining the name thusly:  “The unusual name comes with a variety of explanations.”
‘Since this is purchased wine,’ says McNeilly, ‘we didn’t know how associated we wanted to be with it.’  So naming them ghost wines was in part an effort to be invisible.

This is also the most Cabernet-dominant of any of the Ghosts to date; a full 90% of the blend
(the remainder is Merlot and Syrah). It’s a ripe, accessible wine, with all those nice Cabernet tannins combed to a fine sheen. There is a generosity to the fruit that makes this difficult to resist, and it’s meant to be enjoyed for its youthfully fresh flavors.  No need to hold this one. Aromatics of cola and red cherry are lifted by some lovely star-anise complexities.  The mouthwatering palate is full of blackcurrant and soy, and with some aeration, this picks up a lovely sense of inner-mouth perfume, not something I typically expect at this price point
(usually the violet/lavender side of Cabernet is restricted to the $30-and-up bottles).

All told, this is about as friendly a ghost as you’ll find.

Sam Adams limited releases...

Also online now

Forgot to mention that Griffin's Bow is now in stock...

Sam Adams Cinder Bock Rauch Bock....$6.39 / 22oz

Sam Adams Dark Depths Baltic IPA....$5.49 / 22oz

Sam Adams Tasman Red Red IPA....$4.59 / 22oz

Bold, lively, and a bit rugged This wily red IPA gets its character from the Tasmanian hops that are full of grapefruit, pine, and earthy notes creating a bold flavor that threads throughout the taste. The hops are balanced by a core of roasty malts that give this brew body and richness with hints of toffee. This flavorful brew is rounded and smooth with a dry and citrusy hop finish
For this brew, we wanted to experiment with these flavorful and citrusy Tasmanian hops. We came across Topaz and Galaxy hops, grown in Tasmania and Victoria Australia, that give the beer a bold hop character. This flavorful Red IPA is about more than the hops though. Their bright and citrusy character adds punch and a pleasant bitterness to the rich roasty caramel notes of our specialty malts. The combination of these two streams creates a brew that’s earthy, lively, and smooth
