The passion for exploration has taken the curious mind of PJ Rigney from Drumshanbo to all four corners of the world. His search for nature’s purest vodka has taken him through the African Serengeti and south across the equator where he came upon the majestic Kigelia africana, also known as a “Sausage Tree”.
As PJ contemplated the majestic plant, he recognised the innate kinship between it and the wild Irish nettle, found in the unspoiled woodlands of Drumshanbo, and also known for its curative and purifying powers. He brought them together at The Shed Distillery with Irish grain to distil nature’s purest tasting vodka.

Because of our years of support, Old Potrero offered us a chance to pick from their oldest stash of barrels they offer out as single barrels. We picked a real honey barrel! One of their oldest store single barrels to be released (maybe the oldest at this point?)

The barrel: 24 month Air Dried, fine grain, new American Oak

Deep caramelized brown sugar and toffee with roasted malt and a touch of cocoa on the nose. This 133 proof powerhouse has bold malted rye spice upfront, with black pepper and clove running through it. With a drop of water it shows some rich dark chocolate and espresso bitterness. The finish is long and warm with a touch of pepper and more spice. Subtle smoky malted grain character some leather on the finish.
