Perfect 100/100

2013 Dominus Proprietary Red...$279.99
The 2013 Dominus is, to my way of thinking, one of the most profound wines Christian Moueix has yet made in his rather brilliant winemaking history, both in France and in Napa Valley. This wine, with very low yields of only 3,500 cases and a final blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, offers up notes of cedar wood, forest floor, loamy soil and oodles of blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. Very opaque purple in color, super-pure and intense, this wine has low acidity, but ripe, noticeable tannins.

Director’s Great Movies
SONOMA COUNTY & SAN LUIS OBISPO
Cabernet Sauvignon
California’s 2014 harvest featured great fruit development for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Sonoma gave us structure and ripe juicy fruit, while San Luis Obispo supplied floral notes and red fruit flavors.

This wine is highlighted by serious blackberry flavors and a forward tannin structure. Its aroma features warm cedar spice, blackberry pie, foraged wild berries, and toasted marshmallow. It finishes with flavors of creamy toffee and black hibiscus tea.

Joel Falmet Brut Rose Champagne...$49.99Order now button
Made from 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay
Joël makes a small amount of rosé, about 160 cases per year. Joël’s rosé is made by adding aproximately 10% still red wine (100% Pinot Noir) to the blend.
Joel Falmet is a small grower Champagne (RM) producer.  This area of Champagne produces richer and more full bodied wines than other parts of Champagne.  Many of the “Grand Marque” Champagnes generally use grapes from this region to add body and richness to their own wines.  Joel Falmet is one of the few growers that bottles his own Champagne in this region.

"2013 Ulysses is absolutely mind-boggling..."- Robert Parker
2013 Ulysses Napa Valley Red....$179.99
The 2013 Ulysses is absolutely mind-boggling, as so many wines from this vintage are. Gorgeous blueberry and blackberry fruit, along with the telltale cassis and floral notes, jump from the glass. Again, this is Pauillac-like, with some cedar wood and subtle barrique smells. Again produced nearly all from Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is full-bodied, powerful, rich and long, with slightly sweeter tannins than the 2012. Production in 2013 was 960 cases, and Moueix told me that the entire growing season averaged about two and half weeks ahead of schedule from bloom break to harvest. This is a prodigious effort and will certainly stand as the great Ulysses of the first trio to be released. I suspect it will be drinkable in 3-4 years and keep for 30 or more, given the Moueix track record.

2013 Vietti Barolo

A pair of 96 point stunners from Vietti:
2013 is shaping up to be another tremendous vintage for Barolo. As usual Vietti is at the top of the heap when it comes to Italy's “King of Wines.”

Great scores and some big bottles!

2013 Vietti Barolo Lazzarito...$166.99 / 750ml
This tasting of the 2013 Barolo Lazzarito confirms just how far the wine has come along in recent vintages. Creamy, ample and potent, the 2013 offers an intriguing interplay of aromatics, fruit and structural underpinnings. Gravel, smoke, tar and dark fruit - all signatures of this Serralunga site - are front and center, but it is the wine's overall balance that is most impressive. Scorched earth, leather, smoke and graphite are some of the many notes that reapper on the finish. The 2013 is a real stunner.
Rated 96/100 Antonio Galloni

2013 Vietti Barolo Brunate...$166.99 / 750ml
2013 Vietti Barolo Brunate...$949.99 / 3 liter
(call about the 3 liter - 314.727.8788)
Vietti's 2013 Barolo Brunate is one of the most reticent, powerful and explosive wines in the range. Huge beams of tannin give the wine its energy and overall shape. Readers will have to be especially patient with the 2013, as it is built for the long haul. As...in the very long haul. The gravitas and overall muscularity of Brunate is quite evident, but the wine remains raw, powerful and in need of significant bottle age. Today, the tannins are searing, which adds to the wine's brooding personality. This is the first vintage that includes old-vine fruit that used to go to Oberto and Marengo from a parcel Vietti acquired a few years ago.
Rated 96/100 Antonio Galloni

A truly rare 5 Liter of Vietti Barolo Rocche di Castiglione
A precious few of these large format bottles are produced and even fewer leave the winery. We are excited to offer a 5 Liter of
2013 Vietti Rocche di Castiglione...$1699.99 / 5 liter
(call about the 5 liter - 314.727.8788)
The 2013 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is ample, generous and also surprisingly rich. The more intense, voluptuous side of Rocche comes through loud and clear. Even with all of its textural depth, the Rocche possesses superb aromatic intensity and nuance. The 2013 is an unusually rich, racy Rocche, with tons of mid-palate richness. In many vintages, the Rocche is open-knit and sensual, which gives it a certain amount of early accessibility. I don't see much of that in the 2013. Readers will have to be patient here.
Rated 97/100 Antonio Galloni
