Von Winning "GG"

2015 Von Winning Deidesheimer Grainhübel Riesling Trocken "GG"...$39.99
Von Winning's citrus-colored 2015 Deidesheimer Grainhübel Riesling Trocken GG has a coolish, clear, fresh and concentrated lemon aroma. It also has precise and smoky flavors of crushed rocks. Round and piquant, this is a very salty, vital and linear Riesling that is very stimulating, finessed and elegant. The wine reveals a nice phenolic grip and lemony aftertaste with white stone fruit aromas. This is a still restrained, but spectacularly concentrated Riesling classic and pretty fresh and vital for 2015.
Rated 92-94/100 The Wine Advocate

2015 Muller Catoir Burgergarten Im Breumel "GG"...$55.99
Trocken - Dry
The diamond-bright nose of enormous freshness announces a seriously elegant wine of understated sophistication. The delicate citrus and herbal flavors will expand considerably with a year or two's more ageing, but this already has a finesse that makes it stand out in the strong field of the 2015 riesling GGs from the Pfalz. The very long and subtle finish only confirms that.

2015 Muller Catoir Schlossel Rieslaner Spatlese...$39.99
Exotic fruit salad including melon, fresh pineapple, mango and limes topped with coconut flakes. Touching the tongue like oil the aromas spread within the mouth, thereby revealing a fresh acidity. Now we taste the honey of the acacia. Yet the wine is still to young and closed. You will be rewarded plentyfully, if you are patient and let the wine develop for some years. To be served with Roquefort and ripe cheese.

Sipsmith Gin

Sipsmith Signature Edition Series V.J.O.P Gin...$47.99
VJOP - Very Junipery Over Proof Gin
Imagine the botanicals as components in an orchestra, here we have taken the lead instrument, juniper, and amplified its presence in the ensemble, then raised the decibels by increasing the proof alcohol. The result is our very own symphony in ‘J’ major.
Our ultimate juniper-led gin.
A desire to create the ultimate gin for juniper lovers took us on a mission to distil a 'Very Junipery Over Proof Gin'. When increasing the flavour profile in a gin, it is essential to match it with a rise in ABV. At 57.7% ABV this juniper-forward gin uses triple the amount of juniper berries to our London Dry Gin.

Sipsmith Sloe Gin...$39.99
2014 Autumn Harvest
First, we distil our award-winning London Dry Gin on our copper stills. Then we leave it to rest on wild sloe berries, picked in the autumn. The result is a truly handmade sloe gin that is subtle, complex and bursting with flavour.
Sloe Gin Vintages
Each autumn our sloe berries (a hedgerow fruit in the plumb family) are picked and left to rest with our London Dry Gin. Year-on-year the harvests vary due to the ever changing, unpredictable English weather. Much like a good wine, every vintage that we produce has its own wonderfully unique character.

Loire from Kermit Lynch

2015 Germain Saumur Blanc L'Insolite...$31.99
90 Year Old
100% Chenin Blanc

2015 Germain Domaine des Roches Neuves Terres Chaudes Saumur...$34.99
45 Year Old Vines
100% Cabernet Franc

"Thierry’s domaine, Roches Neuves, whose vineyards are planted in the Saumur (Blanc) and Saumur-Champigny (Rouge) appellations, has rightfully become one of the greatest examples of high achievement in biodynamic vine growing in France. We put him up there with the greats: Abbatucci in Corsica, Ganevat in the Jura, Ostertag in Alsace. His total dedication to site specific wines produced from Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc, his “parcellaires,” has produced some of the most exciting wines in the Loire Valley today." - Kermit Lynch

North Coast Alt Nouveau Altbier

North Coast Alt Nouveau Altbier...$9.49 / 6pk
The “alt” in Altbier has dual meaning, referring both to the top-fermenting yeast used to make the beer (Latin— altus— high) and to the fact that this ale is literally the old style of beer in a country now famous for its lager beers (German—alt—old; from an earlier time). Made famous in the city of Dusseldorf, Altbier has a varied profile, depending on the brewer, from malty to hoppy.
Alt Nouveau is a decidedly hoppy take on the style, reviving a brand the brewery first released in the mid-nineties. The Art Nouveau style illustration on the label is inspired by the artichoke plantings at North Coast’s partner, Fortunate Farm, in Caspar.
Style: Altbier
Color: Copper
ABV: 5.4%

Glenfiddich Project XX Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Glenfiddich Project XX Single Malt Scotch Whisky...$71.99
Not long ago, Brian Kinsman envisioned one of the most ambitious malt experiments in our 129-year history. The covert operation, (codename XX, pronounced twenty), invited 20 whisky experts from 16 countries around the world to our Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. No one was told why they were there.

More info
1. A COVERT AFFAIR
The whisky experts were led to our Conval Warehouse, an impressive building, home to 1000s of traditionally stacked casks. Each expert was given free reign to explore the warehouse and select any cask that intrigued them. It was a long task, but after searching every dark corner, each whisky expert made their final decision.

2. THE CHOSEN CASKS
The final 20 malts represent some of the most astonishing whiskies under our care. From aged malts matured in port pipes to ancient sherry butts and virgin oak bourbon casks, each malt lent a unique personality to the final expression.

3. THE RESULTS
Brian married the 20 exceptional malts together, only releasing the final expression once he was completely happy with the liquid. But he was more than happy with the final result: this small batch vatting defied even his expectations.

1792 Single Barrel Bourbon

No limit now - we scored a decent amount!

1792 Single Barrel Bourbon...$35.99
49.3% ABV
In order to create this unique bourbon, the finest barrels are selected and tasted from the best ageing warehouses. Only those barrels deemed "exceptional" are then bottled individually, one by one. This preserves the distinct character of each barrel. This superior bourbon has flavors of rich butterscotch and caramel notes, delicately balanced with hints of fruit and toffee.

Caymus new 2014 Special Selection

Get it before the scores come out!
2014 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet
$164.98 /bottle net
This cellar favorite and two-time Wine Spectator "Wine of the Year" is everything you expect from Napa royalty, the Wagners. Bold, opulent, and built to last, this is always one of the best selling wines for us. Keep that vertical going and get this while it lasts. The Wine Spectator called 2014 a "dream vintage" in Napa, with perfect weather to keep effects of the drought to a minimum. The only bad part is that the harvest was small. We received only 15 six-packs, and it will go fast! The Wine Spectator and Robert Parker have not weighed in on this wine yet, but all signs point to high quality and a big score.

Dogfish Head Romantic Chemistry IPA - Mango, Apricot, and Ginger

Dogfish Head Romantic Chemistry IPA...$13.99 / 6pk

Mango, Apricot, and Ginger with 3 hops
Dogfish Head has been brewing off-centered ales for off-centered people since 1995, with inspiration from every facet of life - the spice cabinet, music, even art.
What you have here is a serious India Pale Ale shacking up and hunkering down with mango and apricots. At the same time! Romantic Chemistry is brewed with an intermingling of mangos, apricots and ginger, and then dry-hopped with three varieties of hops to deliver a tropical fruit aroma and a hop-forward finish.

It’s fruity, it’s hoppy, it’s tasty!

Deeply colored, it possesses classic Carignan aromas and flavors of deep black fruits, pine resin, new leather, and hints of flower to go with a medium to full-bodied, balanced, and beautifully proportioned mouth feel that stays light and elegant. Very supple, with uncommon polish to its tannin, this outstanding blend benefits from a decant, and will drink nicely for 5-7 years. (90 pts.)

One of the best White Bordeaux....Carbonnieux

This may be The Classic White Bordeaux and a personal favorite.  This was another one of those defining wines for me early in my wine tasting days.  It is a must buy. It seems these days all you can find are tasty but fairly simple versions around $12-$15 or the incredibly expensive wines of Haut Brion or La Mission Haut Brion. Rarely does a gem like the 2014 Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc come along.

2014 Chateau Carbonnieux Pessac Leognon Blanc...$39.99

Grande Cru Classe de Graves
Compare to Total Wine and More in Ballwin at $44.99
The 2014 Carbonnieux Blanc has a detailed and vivacious bouquet offering attractive blackcurrant leaf and citrus aromas, hints of almond and white chocolate just tucked in nicely below the surface. The palate is well balanced with a slice of bitter lemon on the entry. This is a little more piercing in the mouth compared to its peers, as such, it would shine when partnered with shellfish or even hard cheese, rather than a white Pessac-Léognan to serve on its own. Still, a great job here this year
Rated 92/100 The Wine Advocate
This is all citrus and herbal flavors from an estate noted for its pure white wines. It makes for a tight zesty wine with a chalky mineral texture. The fruits are developing to give a crisp wine that's full of fruit along with intense acidity. Drink from 2022.

Two new canned beers from Anchor

In stock now at Forsyth and Ballwin

Anchor Brewing Blood Orange Blonde
We are excited to present our refreshingly unique craft-brew, Anchor’s Blood Orange Blonde™. The delectable fruit of the blood orange—deep crimson in color, with enticingly rich aroma and tangy-sweet juiciness—provides a distinctive twist to this blonde ale.

Blood Orange Blonde gets some of its citrusy aroma in the brewhouse, where California orange peels are added to the brewkettle. Most of the action, however, is in the cellar, where the blood orange fruit (we use the Sanguinello cultivar) is added during secondary fermentation. Its taste combines the succulent complexity of blood oranges with mild hop bitterness, subtle malty sweetness, and a long, dry finish.

Anchor Brewing Mango Wheat
We are excited to present our refreshingly unique craft-brew, Anchor's Mango Wheat™; an ale made with sun ripened mangoes. Mangoes (Mangifera indica) are native to southern Asia, but Californians have enjoyed fresh mangoes since the 1850s. In 1857, Wide West reported that the mango "is at once the richest and most delicate of all fruits and all other fruits are comparatively insipid beside its intensity of taste. There is something in it which is nothing less than voluptuous."

Anchor's Mango Wheat is crisply refreshing, effervescent, golden ale that highlights the delectable character of this singular fruit: Brightness without sharpness, fullness of flavor without heaviness, tropical aroma without pungency, and complexity without cacophony. This brew pours marigold yellow, slightly hazy with white wheaty head. The aromas are fruity, ripe mangoes with hints of apricot and peach with a taste slightly sweet from mangoes with a hint of citrus tartness. It has a light and easy drinking mouthfeel and finishes crisp and clean with no lingering sweetness.

Please call Aaron at 314-727-8788 or email aaron@wineandcheeseplace.com for availability

A wine offering notes of grilled steak, steak tartare, beef blood, blueberries and blackberries galore is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder. Everything here emerges from the Jackson-owned Veeder Peak Vineyard. Chris Carpenter agrees that this has to be one of the greatest vintages he’s ever had the pleasure to work with – and he has some serious experience under his belt. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine is utterly profound, and while the scoring system ends at 100, if I had to pick a single wine that may have been my favorite of all the tastings I did in Napa, this could have been my pick. Full-bodied, rich, with incredible integration of its component parts of acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood, the wine is lavishly built, has compelling purity, richness and density, and a finish, again, that rivals that of the Howell Mountain, being close to one minute in length. This wine will be certainly approachable young, but last 30-40+ years.
Perfect!

POSSIBLY THE WORLD’S GREATEST ADVENTURER
Ernest Hemingway’s writing didn’t dictate his life; rather, his life dictated his writing. He lived by the words “Il faut d’abord durer,” meaning “First one must endure,” forging a courage that led to some of the world’s finest storytelling. He was an author, a free thinker, an adventurer, a sportsman, and a bon vivant. But he was never a spectator.

THE ARTISAN-CRAFTED SPIRIT THAT REFLECTS RUM’S GUTSY ROOTS
Rum was once a noble spirit. It was served aboard warships, rationed to visionary explorers, and used to sustain the Founding Fathers as they plotted revolution. Rum was consumed by men who understood that you only get one shot at life. Standing still, they’d say, was a waste of valuable time.

Ernest Hemingway was this type of man – an adventurer who lived life to the fullest. He indulged us with glimpses of a vibrant life by stitching together distant cultures, passions, and people using the power of the written word.  Inspired by his appetite for adventure, we’ve proudly
created a super-premium rum: Papa's Pilar
It is a spirit born of multiple rums hand-selected from the Caribbean, Central America and Florida. The rums are then brought to the U.S.A. and married together in our unique Solera aging and blending process.

Papa’s Pilar represents the original spirit of rum.
