Beer Here Nordic Rye Ale....$7.99 / pint
All I can really find about this beer is that it was originally a collaboration with the famous beer writer/reviewer Michael Jackson.  But it was never made because of his passing.  They finally decided to produce the beer.

Renaissance Double India Pale Ale...$7.49 / pint

500ml Bottle, 8.5%

R_IPArs.jpg
(not sure the bottled date, but says best buy Sep 20, 2011)
Info from their website.
Marlborough Pale Ale, or M.P.A. for short, is a uniquely kiwi take on an American Double India Pale Ale and is the biggest beer in our range.  It is also the most philanthropic as it contributes significantly to the national economies where it is sold due to its generous donations to the excise tax man!
The style is based on the Americans intention to create a massively hopped full-bodied, higher alcohol Pale Ale to showcase the bitterness flavour and aroma of their locally grown hops.
Rather than simply copying the Americans, Renaissance Brewing has taken the concept and turned it into a kiwi brew by utilising not only New Zealand grown hops but also by choosing to use only New Zealand hop varieties.

Info about the 2009 release...
"M.P.A. is a released seasonally as it uses the new seasons hops every southern hemisphere autumn. In the current vintage release (2009) Renaissance has chosen to use a single variatal, Rakau, a hop recently released by Hort Research. M.P.A. showcases the lovely piney, apricot and stone fruit flavours that Rakau is capable of, balancing its flavour and bitterness against a strong malty full bodied Ale. M.PA. is massively hopped. A normal brew has 3 or 4 hop additions, M.P.A. had 13 additions, and this yielded an ale with approximately 120 hops per bottle.
Most people are unaware of how any single hop varietal tastes. One sip of M.P.A and they will know Rakau!
Cheers!

Mikkeller Big Worse Red Wine Barrel....$9.99 / 375ml

"Incoming are two versions of Mikkeller Big Worse BarleywineRed Wine Barrel and Bourbon Barrel. The two brews will ship in about three weeks according to Mikkel. There will be around 100 cases of Red Wine Barrel and 200 cases of Bourbon Barrel. Each beer is aged in second-use barrels for approximately eight months. The beer weighs in at 12% ABV and is packaged in 375 ml bottles ....Here is the description for the original Big Worse Barleywine via the Mikkeller website:  “Big Worse is the long awaited big brother of the small test brew Big Bad Barley Wine. The idea behind Big Worse is still to make a simple yet heavy barley wine – just like it’s smaller brother. But this time both the alcohol and bitterness has been pumped up! Big Worse is both thick and sweet and is the perfect beer for desserts. Enjoy it now or keep it for many years. Best stored dark and at cellar temperature.
Ingredients: Water, malt (pils and caramunich), candy sugar, hops (nugget, cascade and centennial) and ale yeast.”  -- Beernews.org

Nogne Two Captains Double IPA

A new one from Nøgne Ø in stock at Forsyth.

Nøgne Ø TWO CAPTAINS Double IPA....$7.99 / pint
 100 IBU, 8,5% ALC/VOL
Jan Halvor Fjeld, winner of Norwegian homebrewing championship 2010 brewed his champion double IPA at Nøgne Ø.  We at Nøgne Ø are of course proud to be with him in making this happen.
This double IPA is truly American inspired. It is fairly dry, which allows the hops to dominate. There is bitterness up front, some balanced malts in the middle and complex fruity and resiny hop aromas which simply has no end.
Ingredients: Grimstad water, malted barley, hops, and yeast.

Amazing California reds...

These amazing wines will be tasted during our Grand Opening of our new store -- next week -- click here for details

2007 Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet
There are 10,000 cases of the brilliant 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve. Winemaker Laurie Hook, who worked side by side with Ed Sbragia and now runs the winemaking at Beringer, told me that essentially the Private Reserve consists of 34% from the Bancroft Ranch, 33% from the Steinhauer Ranch, 8% from the Chabot Vineyard, 8% from the Lampyridae Vineyard. 6% from the St. Helena Home Vineyard, 5% from the Marston Vineyard, 3% from Rancho del Oso, 2% Cabernet Franc Steinhauer Ranch and 2% Bancroft Ranch Cabernet Franc. One of the greatest Private Reserves ever made, it ranks alongside the Private Reserves made in 1991, 1992, 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2004. Its dense plum/purple color is followed by sweet notes of cassis, licorice, smoke and graphite intermixed with hints of bay leaf and chocolate. Full-bodied and velvety-textured with beautifully integrated acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood, it is an opulent, full-bodied Cabernet that should drink beautifully for 20 or more years.
Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate

2007 BV George de Latour Cabernet Sauvignon
The phenomenal 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour is the greatest BV Private Reserve made since the 1970 and 1968. The good news is 11,000 cases were produced. The return of this superb Napa classic is fabulous news, and the brilliance of this wine is evidenced by its opaque purple color and its big, sweet, blackberry, cassis, subtle smoke, graphite, and spicy oak-scented nose. Dense and full-bodied with sweet but substantial tannins, thrilling levels of concentration, texture, and richness, and a heady finish, this wine will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age, and last three decades or more. It’s time to once again fill your cellars with the BV Private Reserve, one of the historic names in California wine folklore.

2006 Hestan Napa Valley Cabernet...$79.99
From winemaking superstar, Mark Herold.
"Massive, dramatic, beautiful, intense, but young and firm in tannins, with a cut of fresh acidity. Shows concentrated blackberries, black currants, violets, minerals and cedar, leading to a long, penetrating finish. Very great Cabernet, vibrant and potent, just tremendous in structure. Potentially a near-perfect wine with 4–6 years in the bottle. S.H. (4/1/2010) - 97 Rated 97/100 The Wine Enthusiast (MA)

Rated 97/100 Wine Enthusiast

2007 Pahlmeyer Red
The sensational 2007 Proprietary Red Wine (a 7,000-case blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec) is slightly more restrained aromatically than the Merlot, but there is no doubting its extraordinary bouquet of subtle smoked meats, oak, mountain wild flowers, blueberries, blackberries, coffee, and cassis. Super-rich and full-bodied with noticeable, but stunningly sweet tannins, it possesses a rare minerality and definition, characteristics that seem to be found across the board in Napa’s 2007s. This dense, powerful red needs 3-5 years of cellaring, and should have 25 years of life ahead of it.

2006 Brunellos are arriving....

In stock now at Forsyth.

2006 Costanti Brunello di Montalcino...$67.99
"The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a dazzling wine. The aromatics alone are haunting. Sweet red cherries, rosemary, sage, tobacco and cedar are woven into a fabric of nearly indescribable elegance. Costanti’s straight Brunello can sometimes lack a little depth in its fruit, but not in 2006. This totally complete, harmonious Brunello is shaping up to be one of the wines of the vintage. It is a stunner. As delicious as the wine is now, it really needs at least a handful of years for the firm tannins to start melting away. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031."
Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate
Rated 93/100 The Wine Spectator

2006 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino....$67.99
"Fuligni’s 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the stars of the vintage. Sweet floral notes weave through a core of expressive red fruit as the wine opens up in the glass. The 2006 shows incredible purity and finesse, most notably in its silky, polished tannins. This isn’t a blockbuster, but rather a wine that conquers through its sheer finesse. The wine spent 27 days on the skins. The volume and weight are influenced by the modern school, everything else is traditional all the way. The 2006 is the first vintage in which the percentage of French oak has been dropped to 25%, which has allowed the purity of the fruit to shine through to a degree that I have seldom, if ever, seen here. Rain during June naturally lowered yields and may partly explain why Fuligni’s 2006 is so phenomenal. Simply put, readers won’t want to miss this superb Brunello. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031."
Rated 96/100 The Wine Advocate
Rated 94/100 The Wine Spectator

2006 Lisini Brunello di Montalcino...$62.99
The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is surprisingly dark and heavy in this vintage. Black fruit, leather, licorice and spices are some of the nuances that emerge from the glass. As delicious as this is, the typical Lisini pedigree and elegance doesn’t come through to the extent it usually does. Ultimately the 2006 Brunello is a rather ponderous wine from this historic property. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.

Bat Creek from Missouri

Four different Bat Creek Beers are now in stock at Forsyth!!!

Also available online

From Bowling Green, Missouri
First time bottled - very small brewery that produces tiny batches.

The latest release from Bat Creek--just arrived today!
In stock at Forsyth and Rock Hill

Bat Creek Heartland Wheat....$4.99 / 22oz
Our wheat beer is made with wheat ... really. But that’s not what makes it great. What makes it great is the Amarillo hops which give it a light lemon aroma. It’s an American style wheat made with American wheat yeast in America ... right here in the Heartland.

Food Pairings: Salad, Poultry, Fish, Alfredo pastas.

Bat Creek Brewery was established in late 2008. It is owned by Jeremy Gilbert and Ryan and Heather Daffron. We are located in the heart of America at 4 West Main in Bowling Green, Missouri. A wise man once told us that if you aren’t passionate about your job and if you don’t love what you do, get out. We started this brewery because our passion is beer.

Our humble operation is run out of a machine shed. We currently brew less than a barrel at a time, although we will be expanding as soon as we can. We have five year round brews that we are extremely proud to offer. Keep an eye out for new seasonal and limited edition brews as well.
Bat Creek Brewery is the dream of two men brewing up ideas in the basement one winter night. When we first started making beer together, it didn’t take us long to realize that this was what we were born to do. Within a year of that fateful night we had already formed a corporation, purchased a building and obtained industrial sized brewing equipment.

We wanted to create a business that brought joy to the hearts of beer drinkers everywhere. We needed something that could uphold the bliss that we felt when we opened a bottle of our first homebrew. Bat Creek beers are made with a smile and should be consumed with a smile. If it wasn’t fun we wouldn’t do it. That’s why our mantra is “Good Beer, Good Times.”  -- Bat Creek Website

Bat Creek Machine Shed Stout...$4.99 / 22oz

"Black as the oil stains that once graced the floors of our beloved machine shed turned brewery, this cream stout was our first attempt at brewing a real beer. We use roasted and chocolate malts to give it the rich dark color and to balance out its delicate sweetness. After just one sip we’re certain it will become one of your favorites, just as it is ours.
Food Pairings: Dark Chocolate, chocolate and fruit desserts especially raspberry, pecan desserts, foods made with caramel.

Bat Creek Flip Nut Brown Ale...$4.99 / 22oz

"This beer was a legend before its time. No one really knows what the name means, but they know one thing for sure: A beer with this name on the label is very good. Its malty flavor is complimented with molasses and just enough hops. It’s an experience that cannot be described in words. So go buy some and see what we mean.

Food Pairings: Hamburgers, sausage, venison, stew, chili, barbeque, brown gravy."

Bat Creek Farmer's Daughter Blond...$4.99 / 22oz
"Smooth and refreshing, this light blonde ale delivers on its promise. It really makes you feel alright. The light color and body are complimented with a crisp clean finish. This brew has a subtle malt and hop character making it an easy drinking experience.
Food Pairings: This one is a great thirst quencher for super spicy foods. Fish, poultry, salads."--
