Comte de Langeron Beaujolais Villages

Drink this for Thanksgiving!
Great choice!
St. Louis Post Dispatch
If you’re looking for a lighter-bodied, fruity red that can be served a little chilled in the soaring temperatures of summer, wines from Beaujolais are a great choice. Beaujolais is located in the southern part of France’s Burgundy region, and its red wines are made from gamay, an ancient natural clone of pinot noir. They rank in quality starting with a basic Beaujolais up to those labeled by the name of special villages within the appellation. These wines are different from Beaujolais Nouveau, a separate classification that refers to wines that are only seven to nine weeks old and released annually on the third Thursday of November.
Comte de Langeron 2016 Beaujolais Villages, France
Bought • Wine and Cheese Place, 457 North New Ballas Road, in June for $13.99  (in stock at all 4 locations)
Description • This red is a step up in quality from a basic Beaujolais. Although it’s also a light-bodied, easy-to-drink wine, this red is drier, more complex and slightly more tannic than the Domaine de la PrĂ©bende. It comes from a family-owned winery that makes small lots of wines from old vines. This Beaujolais Villages would go well with chicken and other white meat and salmon. - Gail Appleson - STL Post Dispatch

Since the 19th century, we have produced a broad range of Burgundy and Beaujolais appellations, part from family owned vineyards and the rest as vinificators.

Forty Creek Double Barrel Reserve

Forty Creek Double Barrel Reserve...$46.99

Notes from John Hall, Whisky Maker
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to purchase some outstanding bourbon barrels from Kentucky. These barrels are excellent for ageing whiskies because they are “seasoned”. This means most of the fresh harsh oak tannins have been removed and what remains is all the good stuff, such as the softer oak tannins, wood vanillas, sugars and the toasty, smokey, spicy aromas, as well as the caramelized flavours from the heavy charring of the inside of the barrel.

After ageing my rye, barley and corn whiskies in their own special barrels, I decided to bring them together as a meritage, and placed the three whiskies into the bourbon barrels. This double barreling allowed the whiskies to hang out together and take on the subtle qualities offered by the bourbon barrels to enhance the finishing of the whisky.

Tasting Notes
Forty Creek Double Barrel has a wonderful golden roasted aroma filled with deep vanilla notes and highlighted with toasted spice, pecan and walnuts. There is a caramelized creaminess to the flavour with a rich spice that lifts it off the tongue. The finish is very smooth, mellow and extra long.

Still 630 Monon Bell Bourbon

2018 Edition - in stock now!
This one has a huge following!

Still 630 Monon Bell Bourbon...$43.99
Monon Bell Bourbon is our very first bourbon recipe. We are proud to release this spirit as a tribute to those who do battle in this legendary football game between Wabash College & DePauw University. Steeped in tradition and heroism, this battle is for pride. Undying glory awaits the victors as the Monon Bell’s beautiful, clear ringing sings of their victory. In honor of these Indomitable Spirits, we humbly offer this bourbon as tribute. May tales of your valor live on and be shared over a glass of Monon Bell Bourbon!

Wabash is my alma mater, and though it is a tiny Div III school in the middle of a small town in the heartland of Indiana, it has left an indelible mark on me. I would not be the person I am today, nor be lucky enough to count the quality and character of my friends, had I not gone to school there. This football game played every year as the last game of the season is the definition of sport. These student-athletes, competing not for national audiences nor million dollar endorsements, instead lay it all on the line for their school, their teammates, and themselves. If the definition of character is what you do when no one is looking, then these players who compete at their very best as the eyes of the nation are elsewhere are great examples of the fabric that makes this country great. Quiet heroes toiling in obscurity. They seek not fame, the beautiful ringing of the Monon Bell sings more sweetly over the years. This bourbon honors them.

This game pits two schools against one another in a rivalry that exceeds almost all others in the nation in time and tradition. The oldest rivalry west of the Allegheny Mountains where over 120 games have been played, the schools started competing in 1890 and have played every year since 1911. The 300lb Monon Bell, taken from a locomotive that connected the two towns, is the trophy. The inaugural release of Monon Bell Bourbon honors the 123rd Monon Bell Classic, which takes place at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN on Nov 12th, 2016. Wabash leads the overall series 60-53-9 and has won the last seven straight games.

A sweet nutty flavor you won’t be able to resist!
Select Club Pecan Praline Whisky is a unique blend of flavors that come together to form a smooth and enjoyable experience. It’s a tasty shooter, great straight, or pairs perfectly with other flavors to serve up an amazing cocktail.
Pralines first originated in France and were then brought in the 1700s to Louisiana where pecans were already quite popular, thus was born the Pecan Praline. Louisiana was also a trading hub for both France and Canada, so we couldn’t think of a better match than a Pecan Praline Select Club Whisky!
Experience the sip of the south… Select Club Pecan Praline.

2006 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blanc Champagne Brut

2006 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blanc Champagne Brut...$139.98

A statuesque Champagne, firm and finely knit, with a beautiful array of baked white peach, almond biscotti, pastry cream and crystallized honey flavors riding the silky mousse. A rich and smoky note of toasted brioche echoes on the chiseled finish. Drink now through 2031.
Rated 97/100 The Wine Spectator
The 2006 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Brut is simply fabulous. In most vintages, Dom Ruinart is a big, ample Champagne that shows the structure of the Montagne de Reims Chardonnay in the blend. The 2006 has plenty of textural resonance and richness, and yet I am also struck by its tension. Both bottles I tasted point to a Dom Ruinart that is quite a bit more polished and sophisticated than it often is at this stage.

Final batch, they are retiring this beer

2nd Shift Brewing Brew Cocky Double IPA...$13.99 / 4pk 12oz Cans
Brew Cocky is another IPA I came up with that is brewed with loads and loads of Falconers Flight Hops that we use in an inappropriate, gratuitous manner and make them just explode in your face. 9.3%

2015 Antinori Tignanello....$94.98
Dense and intensely flavored, with violet, black currant, blackberry, graphite, wild herb and spice aromas and flavors, this is concentrated and solidly built, yet also harmonious, vibrant and pure. Approachable now, but should be better in a few years. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2021 through 2035.

Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel

2015 Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel...$9.99
Another great value from Bogle, this wine is very polished and smooth. Blackberry and blueberry flavors abound on the full-bodied palate, with fine-grained tannins. There are no rough edges, just wonderful fruitiness and light salt-and-pepper spices.

Founders CBS Release
MAPLE SYRUP BOURBON BARREL-AGED COFFEE CHOCOLATE STOUT
2018 ABV:11.6%
CBS was born when we stumbled upon some bourbon barrels that had previously housed maple syrup. We opted to put the same base beer as KBS, an imperialized version of Breakfast Stout, in the maple barrels and, after one taste, we knew we had something special. Rich maple syrup, roasted coffee and velvety chocolate meld together in what can only be described as a transcendental drinking experience.

Buffalo Trace Kentucky Bourbon

In stock now!  No limit.
Buffalo Trace Kentucky Bourbon...$22.99 / 750ml
Ancient buffalo carved paths through the wilderness that led American pioneers and explorers to new frontiers. One such trail led to the banks of the Kentucky River where Buffalo Trace Distillery has been making bourbon whiskey the same way for more than 200 years. In tribute to the mighty buffalo and the rugged, independent spirit of the pioneers who followed them, we created our signature Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

Makers Mark Justify Bourbon...$69.99 / liter
The Justify commemorative will be black, with green wax and a ribbon featuring stable WinStar’s stars. On the label is Justify himself, in full gallop, with jockey Mike Smith in the irons. The colors reflect the silks that Smith wore for Justify’s Kentucky Derby win for the partnership that includes WinStar Farm, China Horse Club, Starlight Racing and Head of Plains Partners.
The photo appears to have been edited to remove jockey Smith’s sponsorship by Jeff Ruby Steakhouse, which was on his leg. Also edited out: The logo on Justify’s saddlecloth for competitor bourbon Woodford Reserve, which sponsors the race.
The limited edition 1-liter bottle also will raise money for charitable partners, including the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville and the Ann Hanley Parkinson’s Research Fund, which helps fund research at the University of Kentucky.

More Burgundy Magnums!

2016 Domaine Faiveley Clos de Corton Grand Cru...$489.99 / 1.5 liter
Magnum
Full medium red. Deep, soil-driven aromas of raspberry, dark cherry, redcurrant, coffee and underbrush; not quite as black as it was from barrel in late 2016 but still conveys a brooding menthol quality. Enters the mouth plush and utterly seamless, but terrific soil-driven saline minerality gives definition to the middle palate. A bit reticent today but the slowly mounting, extremely long finish saturates everything in its path. The tannins are huge but plush, saturating the front teeth and incisors. I recall technical director JĂ©rĂ´me Flous telling me last year that this wine has an IPT (indice polyphenols totaux) of 90, compared to a normal 50. This outsized grand cru shows the sweetness of the vintage's best examples and appears to possess the stuffing and structure to go on in bottle for 25 years; in fact, it shut down rather dramatically with time in the recorked bottle.
Rated 95+/100 Vinous Media

2015 Clos de Tart Grand Cru...$1,199.99 / 1.5 liter
Magnum
he 2015 Clos de Tart Grand Cru is a monumental young wine, opening in the glass with a brooding bouquet of wild berries, peony, orange rind, licorice, espresso roast and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, powerful and multidimensional, with an enormous core of vibrant fruit, an ample chassis of fine tannins and a beautiful line of acidity. While the vintage has brought an extra dimension of concentration and power to this Clos de Tart, it remains wonderfully controlled through the long, palate-staining finish, and the terroir—including its proximity to Bonnes Mares—is front and center. With his first solo vintage at Clos de Tart, Jacques Desvauges has evidently hit the ground running. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare, vinified with 40% whole cluster, and aged in 80% new wood.

Jacques Frederic Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Marechale - Magnum

2015 Jacques Frederic Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Marechale...$234.99 / 1.5 liter
Mugnier's 2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale is a terrific success in the 2015 vintage and is strongly reminiscent of the excellent 2005 rendition, opening in the glass with aromas of creamy cassis, ripe cherry, dark chocolate and grilled squab. On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied and sapid, with succulent acids, an ample chassis of rich tannins and excellent length.

Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout

Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout....$14.99 / 6pk
A malt-forward monster, highlighting the depths of malt flavor.
Narwhal Imperial Stout is inspired by the mysterious creature that thrives in deepest fathoms of the frigid Arctic Ocean. Featuring incredible depth of malt flavor, rich with notes of espresso, baker's cocoa, roasted grain and a light hint of smoke, Narwhal is a massive malt-forward monster. Aggressive but refined with a velvety smooth body and decadent finish, Narwhal will age in the bottle for years to come.
