Redemption Rye Pre-Prohibition Rye Revival

Redemption Rye Pre-Prohibition Rye Revival...$17.99
compare to $25.99 at Total Wine and More in STL (checked 7/25/20)

STYLE: Redemption Rye’s goal is to bring back the classic American Rye cocktail. While the Federal law states that a whiskey must be 51% rye grain to be classified as a rye we chose to push our grain content to 95%. This not only pushes the flavor forward, it also magnifies the unique profile of the rye grains.
TASTE PROFILE: Beautiful flavored rye spice with light floral and citrus notes. Slight mint garnish makes this great for sipping or mixing in a classic cocktail. (Think Manhattan, Old Fashioned and Sazerac). True rye flavor.
Mash bill: 95% rye, 5% barley malt 92 Proof Aged at least 2.5 Years in New Charred Oak barrels

Domaine Saint Damien Gigondas Les Souteyrades

Certified Organic
2017 Domaine Saint Damien Gigondas Les Souteyrades...$33.99
A blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre, the 2017 Gigondas les Souteyrades—from a clay-based, north-facing site—is rich and earthy, with cinnamon and cola notes accenting dark plums and black cherries. It's full-bodied and velvety, adding hints of chocolate on the long finish.
This certified organic estate lost about half its 2018 crop to mildew, according to Romain Saurel, who has gradually taken over the management of the domaine from his parents. As a result, there will be no 2018 les Souteyrades

Amazing Malbec

2016 Zuccardi Finca Piedra Infinita Altamira Malbec...$139.99
I was blown away by the 2016 Finca Piedra Infinita, a wine I have been anticipating because I’ve seen the progression of the wine over the last few years. They use almost 40 different components to make this wine from small plots within the vineyard, especially the soils they call "supercalcáreo" (super limestone). The other type of soil they use is what they call "gravas calcáreas" (limestone gravels), and they don’t use any of the grapes from the deeper soils that go into the Q range. The wine has reached a stratospheric level of precision, symmetry and elegance in 2016 that is really captivating. Everything seems to be in its place; there is great harmony, the aromatics are clean and pure and the texture is like liquid chalk. There is power and elegance, energy and finesse. This is a really outstanding wine that summarizes the hard work at Zuccardi in the last few years. Bravo! 6,400 bottles were filled in February 2017.

2015 Zuccardi Finca Piedra Infinita Altamira Malbec...$139.99
As with the whole collection of 2015s from the high end, the single-vineyard 2015 Finca Piedra Infinita reveals a gobsmacking selection from shallow soils that produce super austere Malbec wines with reticent noses, with more influence from the vinification with full clusters and less oak than ever. The palate shows marked influence from the limestone soils. As I've seen in some of these top reds from Argentina, this is not about the variety at all, it's about the soils. And in this case, the wine even seems to transcend the vintage character, as their work has gained so much in precision that the wines are better every year. Where will the limit be? 2015 was not an easy year, yet the wine is better than ever. With time in the glass, the aromas that emerge are more about the herbs in the countryside than fruit—rockrose, thyme, etc. It has to be the finest wine I have ever tasted from Zuccardi. Beautiful. But 2016 should be coming next... 5,000 bottles were filled in December 2016.

Wichita Brewing Mad Scientist Chile Lime Gose Sour Ale

Wichita Brewing Mad Scientist Chile Lime Gose Sour Ale...$8.99 / 4pk 12oz cans
People are going mad over this bold new creation.
Hypothesis: We can create the tastiest, zestiest, and most refreshing Gose ale ever with our very own added special ingredients – green chiles and limes.
We’ve turned up the heat with our fifth installment in this series as our test batchers thinned the line between brew master and chef. Normal brew days are packed full of pleasant aromas like malt and hops, but this recipe took it to a whole new level with on-site green chile roasting and zesting of enough limes to make your fingers ache just thinking about it. Of course, this masterpiece creation would not be complete without the refreshing burst of a citrus-like tartness and mouthwatering sea salt. So, cheers, or well, bon appetit!

Stillwater Artisanal Of Love & Regret

Stillwater Artisanal Of Love & Regret 2020...$12.99 / 4pk cans
Saison brewed with Heather, Chamomile, Lavender & Dandelion
7.0% ABV
For the first edition of the Stillwater Import Series I traveled to the village of Beerzel, located in the Antwerp province of Belgium. Here I teamed up with brewmaster Jef Goetelen to craft an authentic Belgian version of my liquid interpretation of the Spring season. A recipe originally contrived a few years prior as a collaboration brew with my good friend Paul Kretzer. The base is German barley & wheat, with a touch of Belgian aromatic; accented with grassy hops and an array of spring botanicals (heather, chamomile, lavender, & dandelion). Like a fresh meadow in spring.

Dense jungle and rainforest are the preferred habitat of jaguars, however as these areas are destroyed through deforestation these noble creatures are forced to roam farther and farther afield in search of the Tiki drinks and grilled cheese sandwiches that sustain them. A couple years ago, we ran into one at Sportsmans Club and shut down the patio with him. Amongst stories of travel and pouncing, he went on at length about his favorite cocktail bursting with all the sickly sweet aromas of passion fruit and grapefruit peel but balanced by a lively acidity and slight but world-wise touch of funk. We've done our best to pay homage to that fine beast and his libations and hope you find Spots as nimble and explosive as its namesake.

2017 Dominus

2017 Dominus Napa Valley Red....$199.98
The 2017 Dominus is one of the truly epic, grand wines of the vintage. Rich, dense and explosive, with tremendous concentration and sheer power, the 2017 Dominus captures all the personality of this site along with the natural opulence of the year. Inky dark fruit, lavender, menthol, licorice, plum, gravel and a host of dark spice notes infuse the 2017 with seemingly endless layers of nuance. Over the last two years I have tasted several hundred Napa Valley Cabernets, both from barrel and bottle. There is no question that Dominus belongs among the elite in 2017; it is simply a breathtaking wine. Certainly readers looking for a Napa Valley Cabernet to cellar should put Dominus at the top of their lists.

2017 Napanook by Dominus....$73.99
The 2017 Napanook checks in 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. It offers classy notes of cassis, black currants, toasted spices, and hints of flowers. With lots of chocolately richness, medium to full body, and beautifully ripe tannins, it's layered and has impressive depth of fruit, followed by a great finish. It's going to evolve for 15-20 years. It's an incredible value in classic, impeccably made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

If you can imagine the caramel, vanilla and fruity notes of Maker's Mark® turned all the way up, you'd have a pretty good idea of what Maker's Mark® Cask Strength is like. Of course, the best way to get to know it is to sample some for yourself. While the higher proof delivers a bold bourbon presence in cocktails, we recommend drinking this surprisingly smooth barrel-proof whisky neat, on the rocks or with a splash.

A long time coming.

Kinahan's L.L.

Kinahan’s was founded in 1779 on Trinity Street, Dublin. In 1807 Kinahan’s attracted the attention of Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, so much so that he ordered for the whiskey to be kept exclusively for himself. This resulted in each cask being marked ‘L.L.’ (Lord Lieutenant).

In 1863 the Court of Dublin awarded Kinahan’s L.L. whiskey with legal protection against other Irish producers who were trying to invade the brand. This event is recorded in the Dublin archives, precedenting the first protection of a whiskey trademark in history

By the mid 19th Century Kinahan’s L.L. whiskey came to the attention of many American connoisseurs, including Jerry Thomas, “the father of American mixology”. Kinahan’s L.L. is known to have been the whiskey of choice for Jerry Thomas since 1862.
