Father's Day Wine!

Fathers Day Weekend.
It's that time of year again, time to celebrate all the Dad's out there. So fire up the grill, season those steaks, and for goodness sake let Dad finish watching the US Open. Nothing says “We Love You Dad” like a great bottle of Wine. We have an amazing selection from around the world.

2015 Rostaing Cote Rotie Ampodium....$86.99
Bottled in July, the 2015 Cote Rotie Ampodium is fairly full-bodied and quite rich. The black olive and raspberry notes verge on being jammy but are balanced by peppery spice and firm, savory tannins. Give it 5 years in the cellar to settle down, and drink it over the next decade and a half or more. For an entry-level wine, it's remarkable.
Rated 94/100 The Wine Advocate

2015 Rostaing Cote Rotie La Landone....$175.99
Am I being stingy in only awarding Rostaing's 2015 Cote Rotie la Landonne 99+ points? This is a tremendous wine, showing immense richness and power without any apparent weight. Raspberries flood the palate in waves, accented by various spices in a wine that's intensely tannic yet never hard or astringent. Breathtaking stuff.
Rated 99+/100 The Wine Advocate

2 Beauties from Lucian Sandrone
2013 Sandrone Le Vigne Barolo...$139.99
Sandrone's 2013 Barolo Le Vigne is a real stunner. Powerful, ample and deep, the 2013 exudes class from start to finish. The addition of Serralunga fruit in the blend has added depth and structure in all of the wine's dimensions. Dark red cherry, plum, mint, rose petal, tar and licorice build into the huge, voluptuous finish. Readers who can find the 2013 should not hesitate, as it is outrageously beautiful and also one of the clear wines of the vintage. Vineyard sites are Baudana, Villero, Vignane and Merli.
Rated 98/100 Vinous Media

2013 Sandrone Aleste Barolo...$149.99
he 2013 Barolo Aleste is a wine of striking purity and nuance. It is also one of the most finessed, vivid young Barolos I have ever tasted from Sandrone. The translucence of Nebbiolo comes through loud and clear. Freshly cut flowers, mint and finely cut fruit are some of the signatures. This wine has developed beautifully in recent vintages as the oak influence is less than it was just a few years ago. Beams of tannin and bright, salivating acidity add finesse to this translucent, exceptional Barolo. Aleste is the new name Sandrone is using for the Barolo formerly known as Cannubi Boschis.

Rated 94/100 The Wine Enthusiast
TASTING NOTES: Vermouth Routin Dry is made from 17 plants, flowers and spices and a subtle blend of French white wine of Sauvignon grape and regional wine of vineyard Jacquère. Its unique bouquet, its subtle dry taste, and its slightly golden color, give it its distinctive character. Rose petals, juniper, rosemary, wormwood, and bitter almond are the priciple flavor components, besides fine French wine, of course!

Distillerie des Alpes Routin Vermouth Dry...$16.99
Aromas of pineapple and tropical fruit are accented by a hint of vanilla. The bone-dry palate opens with tart green apple, though any hint of fruit sweetness disappears in a flash, winding up crisp and bracing overall. Martini material. Best Buy.

De Muller Iris Vermouth

DeMuller Vermouths have been made using the same recipes since their founding, almost 70 years ago. Over 150 botanicals are used, many of which are native to the winery’s Mediterranean setting. Today, their winemaker is Gemma Martinez. The winery is located in Reus, near the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in Catalonia. Reus is considered the epicenter of Spanish vermouth and DeMuller is historically regarded as one of the top producers in the area. Their wines are made with a base of white wine, infused with 150 botanicals. The winery uses the actual plants for their infusions, rather than the concentrates used by many producers. Highly guarded, the recipes include] cinnamon, orange peel, chamomile, rosemary, ginger, oregano & vanilla. The wine is then fortified with Melazas, a liquor made from molasses, and lightly sweetened. Their Vermouth Reserva is produced in a manner similar to Sherry and was recently named “Best Vermouth in Catalonia.” The wine is aged for a year in used oak barrels, giving it more body and smoothness than traditional vermouth.

7435 Forsyth Blvd - Clayton MO

Open house Tasting

Taste a Perfect 100 Point Wine!

Please Join us in welcoming Lauren Reches of Michael Skurnik Selections for a tasting of Paul Jaboulet Wines.

As soon as the Jaboulet wines were reintroduced to the market this past February we jumped on the opportunity to work with the line up featuring some of the Rhone Valley's most prestigious wines.
In 1834, a full 100 years before the introduction of the A.O.C. system, Antoine Jaboulet began to transform a sleepy region into one of the most important quality winegrowing terroirs in the world. Since that time, Paul Jaboulet Aîné has become the benchmark in the Northern Rhône, with the iconic Hermitage ‘La Chapelle’ being responsible for some of the greatest wines ever produced.

Wines to be tasted:
2015 Paul Jaboulet Parrell 45 Cotes du Rhone Rouge $12.99
Northern style Côtes du Rhône, with beautiful fresh Syrah character. Notes of wild berries, white pepper, lavender and cherries. This balanced red finishes with incredibly juicy Grenache.

2015 Paul Jaboulet Parrell 45 Cotes du Rhone Blanc $12.99
Light yellow. White peach, melon and a hint of honey on the fragrant nose and in the mouth. Smooth and fleshy; a hint of lemon pith adds back-end lift and a refreshingly bitter edge. Finishes firm and nervy, showing good length and a lingering suggestion of ripe melon
Rated 88/100 Vinous

2015 Paul Jaboulet Syrah Secret de Famille $13.99
Bright and juicy Syrah from limestone laden terraces. Fresh blue and red fruit supported by lively acid and a hint of market spices.

2015 Paul Jaboulet Crozes Hermitage Domaine Thalabert $42.99
The finest vintage to date, better even than the stellar 2010, the 2015 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine De Thalabert is a gorgeous, deep, layered, and incredibly satisfying Crozes. Blackcurrants, olive tapenade, truffles and earthy notes all emerge from this full-bodied, gorgeously textured and seamless 2015. With fine tannin and no hard edges, it can be drunk today or cellaring for 15-20 years.
Rated 97/100 Jeb Dunnuck

2015 Paul Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle $299.99
(only 1 bottle available to be poured)
Lastly, and a legendary wine in the making, the 2015 Hermitage La Chapelle is reminiscent of the 1990 with its full-bodied, opulently, sexy, yet concentrated style. Offering sensational notes of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, beef blood, and chocolate, it’s a huge yet elegant wine that has masses of sweet tannin, incredible purity and finesse, and a killer finish. It’s the finest wine from this estate in close to 30 years. Hats off to Caroline Frey and Jacques Desvernois!

Hailing from county Tyrone, James Ripy left Ireland in 1830 and settled in Anderson County, Kentucky. In 1839, after renouncing his allegiance to Queen Victoria, Ripy became a naturalized American Citizen.
