Collingwood 21 Year Old Rye....$59.99
"Collingwood blended premium Canadian whisky announces the release of Collingwood Rye 21-Year-Old, a one-time only bottling of 21-year old Canadian rye whisky available in select markets within the United States and Canada beginning in November.

21 years ago, a small unnamed batch of malted rye whisky identified only as lot 41-06-91 was crafted at the distillery in Collingwood, Ontario. This whisky has now become Collingwood Rye 21-Year-Old which has been fermented and distilled from a unique recipe of 100 percent malted rye and pure spring water from Ontario's Georgian Bay. Collingwood Rye 21-Year-Old has matured for 21 years in seasoned oak barrels and in its finishing step, this unique Canadian whisky rests with toasted Maplewood to complete its smooth character.

Collingwood Rye 21-Year-Old is presented at 80 proof with limited quantities available in Ontario and 16 U.S. markets: Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, New York, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. The suggested retail price for this 750ml offering is $69.99.

"Collingwood Rye 21-Year-Old is a rare style of Canadian whisky," said Senior Brand Manager Pedro Berrueco. "This special offering is exceptionally well-balanced and creates a unique flavor profile due to its toasted Maplewood finish combined with a 21-year maturation period." - importer

2002 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Champagne...$129.99 net
I had very high expectations for the 2002 Brut Blanc de Blancs Dom Ruinart and was not disappointed. Actually, that is an understatement. The 2002 is a flat-out great Dom Ruinart. It is as compelling as any Champagne I have ever tasted from the estate. Layers of sweet, perfumed fruit emerge with no end in this subtle, sexy Dom Ruinart. The 2002 vintage generally yielded big wines, and of course, a significant amount of the Chardonnay for Dom Ruinart comes from the Montagne de Reims, where the wines are richer and broader, yet those are truly mere details. The 2002 convinces for its superb overall balance and sheer personality. It possesses striking depth and an endless, eternal finish. I imagine the 2002 will enjoy a wide drinking window that will stretch out several decades. Truth is, its pretty special even today. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2032.

2000 Krug Brut Vintage Champagne ...$259.99
The Krug vintage 2000 Brut smells strikingly redolent of sea breeze, kelp, and piles of oyster and mussel shells, allied to lemon oil and toasted hazelnuts. On the palate, the aforementioned elements serve for compulsive salivation, while a lusciously juicy amalgam of lime, grapefruit and apple tinged with piquancy of their pips buoys the salty wave of mineral matter into a profoundly protracted finish that bursts with brightness and at the same time reveals mouthwateringly savory crab shell reduction and a hitherto largely hidden dark side of smoky Latakia tobacco, dark-roasted coffee, and toasted grains. Expect this to merit following for 12-15 years.

NV Pierre Boniface Brut de Savoie Les Rocailles....$19.99
The non-vintage Les Rocailles Brut de Savoie is a low alcohol (7-9%) blend of 60% Jacquere, 20% Chardonnay and 20% Altesse. (Put it in a blind tasting and see if anyone can guess its composition.) Aromas of apple skins, spring flowers, lemon zest and a delicate hint of pear emerge from this wonderfully effervescent, dry, crisp,light-bodied, featherweight style of wine.

The responses has been phenomenal for these new $20 sparklers.....
Jean Louis Denois Brut Chardonnay....$19.99
"Denois’s non-vintage Chardonnay Brut Blanc de Blancs. Legally, this “traditional method” wine is merely a vin mousseux, yet it is in fact a tribute to the terroir of Limoux (whose sparkling wine appellation must be based on the local Blanquette de Limoux a.k.a. Mauzac grape, for which Denois evidently has little respect). It will be hard to find a more delicious and interesting sparkling wine for the price. Ripe apricot, grapefruit, blueberries, and lily in the nose lead to an intensely pit-fruited palate that – despite a mere five grams of residual sugar – suggests a hint of sweetness on account of its sheer ripeness. Yet, there are suggestions of saline, chalky minerality here as well, a fine mousse, and a refined finish. This will be easy to guzzle but not to forget. Bravo Denois!" -- The Wine Advocate

Jean Louis Denois Brut Classique....$19.99
This is an unusual blend of 30% Chardonnay, 30% Carignan, 20% Syrah, 20% Macabeu,
combines the complexity and richenss of red grapes with the elegance of the white grapes.  The second fermentation takes place in the bottle and the wine spends a minimum of 12 months on the lees before disgorgement.
Roederer Brut Premier NV....$39.99
Firm and finely meshed, with hints of passion fruit and pineapple mixing with poached apple, almond pastry and fleur de sel. Mouthwatering and lightly smoky on the lingering, refined finish.
Rated 91/100 Wine Spectator
Roederer Anderson Valley Brut NV....$16.99
Focused and vibrant, with aromas of creamy apple, cinnamon and hazelnut leading to complex, layered flavors of lemon custard, mineral and almond. The finish lingers."
Rated 91/100 Wine Spectator

Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Reserve NV....$26.99
Flavors of poached pear, kumquat, white raspberry, biscuit, ginger and licorice mix in this lively, open-knit version. Features a modest, lightly smoky finish.
Rated 91/100 Wine Spectator
Mumm Napa Brut....$13.99 net
Assembled from dozens of individual lots, this sumptuous brut is an example of the art of blending. Based on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it's really as delicous and refined a sparkling wine as you could want for dirnking now. Shows lush citrus, strawberry, honey, melon, fig and spice flavors that are wrapped into a smooth, silky bubbling mouthfeel.

Perrier Jouet Nuit Blanche....$69.99
44% Pinot Noir:, 39% Pinot Meunier, 17% Chardonnay

A brand new Champagne from Perrier Jouet, just released about 2 weeks ago at its worldwide premier in New York.   Right now it appears to only in New York and St. Louis at this point.

#1 under $40 Champagne in the New York Times!
Joel Falmet Champagne Tradition....$39.99
In a tasting of 20 Champagnes, priced under $40 each, the wine panel was pleasantly surprised by the elegance that we found among our favorites--chosen #1-- JOËL FALMET Brut Tradition NV.   The Falmet Brut Tradition was our top-rated wine. We found it full of lively energy, with complex flavors of flowers, minerals, citrus and herbs, and with more finesse than you generally find in Champagnes dominated by the pinot noir grape." - New York Times

New Grower Champagne
Legas & Haas Blanc de Blancs - Grand Cru....$49.99

Total Production 1600 cases
Tasting Notes: The Legras & Haas Blanc de Blancs is a wine with a laser-like focus. In the glass the bubbles are very fine and persistent. Crisp citrus fruit and minerality lead to hints of white stone fruit and brioche notes. This is a lively, festive Champagne. While it is perfect as an aperitif, it is also a great match for fish or poultry (especially when prepared in a rich cream sauce). This is truly a wine that deserves to be called Grand Cru.

2006 Dubl Greco Sparkling...$45.99
From Feudi di San Gregorio and Anselme Selosse

This is the only sparkling wine Anselme Selosse makes outside of his own at Jacques Selosse in Champagne!!  Rare and amazing!

Why are we excited about this release?
Have you heard of Jacques Selosse Champagne?
Well, they are very rare, highly rated and hard to get Champagne.  We only get a few bottles a year of his stuff because the demand is so high.    His Champagnes sell for $200 + per bottle.

"Every decade or so, a winemaker comes along who, through the force of his ideas, and the brilliance of his work, has the power to change the course of wine history.  Anselme Selosse is such an individual—and the man most responsible for the revolution that’s changing Champagne for the better.  Since taking over Champagne Jacques Selosse in 1980, Anselme has used the uncompromising brilliance of his wines—as well as no small amount of charisma—to challenge Champagne’s old defintions for excellence. If ten or twenty years from now, small, quality-driven growers have finally taken their share of the power—and the big hou
ses have fully embraced the ideas of low yields, chemical-free vineyards and terroir-based wines—Anselme will deserve much of the credit." - importer for Jacques Selosse Champagne

Delphi Pilsner Beer - from Greece

Delphi Pilsner Beer...$14.99 / 750ml
Delphi Beer is a Mediterranean pilsner, blond, double fermented and, of course, blurry.  It has got a distinctive, particularly aromatic taste, with a light, pleasantly bitter aftertaste evocative of fresh malt. The dominant scent of acacia and orange blossom balance with the delicate scent of hop. A non-pasteurized beer which is traditionally fermented in the bottle.
Served at 7⁰C and ideally accompanied with sea-food and yellow cheese.
Ingredients: water, malt, barley, hops, yeast. Alcohol: 4.5% Vol.

“Two enthusiastic beer lovers from Greece, Dia Papanikolaou and George Kostopoulos, and one award-winning professional brewer from Italy – Davide Zingareli – met ‘by chance’ and decided to make a brand new beer in Greece, Delphi Beer. They brewed their first lot in Davide’s own brewery in Italy and the tasty result will be launched in the Greek market at the beginning of June 2013. As of September, though, Delphi Beer is going to be available nationwide, produced exclusively in Greece at the new state-of-the-art brewery of ELIXI S.A. in Halkida.”

Seef Bier? Rare beer style...

Back in stock!

Very rare style.
Right now, we are the first and only place in the U.S. that show this beer available.

Antwerpse Seef Bier...$3.99 / 11.2oz
Antwerpse Seef Bier...$15.99 / 4pk
Antwerp, Belgium

Seef is an old style of beer that was produced in small family breweries in Antwerp. It disappeared entirely after WWI as these breweries were dismantled for the war effort, by one side or the other. People remembered it, but the beer was not brewed for almost 100 years until Johan Van Dyck—who had been intrigued by stories of the beer—set out to recreate what had been a very popular beer.

Seef
Seef is hard to describe. It’s effervescent, full-bodied, nicely finished. It has fruity, wheat beer-like notes in the nose and palate, but it also has a beguiling earthiness. Moderate hops nevertheless leave Seef dry and more-ish, easy to enjoy. Do I taste brettanomyces? Is it sour? Not really, but sort of. . .

Seef is a totally unique beer. It will remind you of many other beers you love but nothing is exactly like it. Fermented with a very special strain of yeast, it’s unlikely to be duplicated.

Two new Shiner Beers

A couple of brand new Shiner beers just arrived...

White Wing has landed. Try our new Belgian-style white ale.
Shiner White Wing....$7.49 / 6pk
"This beer rules the roost.  Brewed with authentic Belgian yeast and hints of coriander and coriander and orange peel, white wing has all the spice and ctirus aroma of a true-to-style belgian wheat ale.  Slightly sweet and highly drinkable, it's a delightfully odd bird.

 Shiner FM 966 Farmhouse Ale...$7.49 / 6pk
Just south of the brewery there's a road called FM 966, and now there's a beer called FM 966.  Coincidence?  All we know is that this spring provisional ale made with pilsner and wheat malts is spicy, fruity and always hits the spot.

Brenne French Single Malt Whisky

Brenne French Single Malt Whisky....$51.99
ABOUT

  • AGED IN FRENCH OAK & COGNAC BARRELS Brenne Whisky starts in new Limousin oak barrels before being finished in Cognac casks, giving it a hint of perfumed fruit that sets it apart from other whiskies.
  • SINGLE CASK BOTTLES Each bottle of Brenne Whisky comes from a single barrel selected at its peak. We don’t blend barrels. Each barrel number is stamped on the back label.
  • COGNAC DISTILLING TECHNIQUE Using cool fermentation and small batch production, Brenne Whisky is twice distilled in copper alembic stills for a smooth finish.
  • NO AGE STATEMENT Because Brenne Estate Cask is bottled individually by barrel, the aging for each cask differs as it depends on how long the Cognac was in the barrel before. On average, the whisky ages for a total of about 7 years.
  • Bottled at 40% abv (80 proof)

ENJOY

  • A SOPHISTICATED ALTERNATIVE TO COCKTAILS Brenne Whisky is the perfect balance of savory and sweet to be a bold alternative to cocktails. Enjoy it with a splash of water to unleash even more of the Cognac barrel flavors.
  • THE PERFECT NIGHT CAP With an approachability and lightness, Brenne Whisky offers a refined way to unwind at the end of the day.
  • …OR TRY A MANHATTAN AFFAIR Brenne Whisky over ice with a twist of orange (or a grapefruit peel!). No vermouth. No bitters. Just Brenne, ice & orange.

About the creator...
Allison Patel and her husband Nital shared a passion for food and drink has immersed them in cultures all over the world. Making an effort to visit local markets, wineries, and distilleries in their travels, they have developed an appreciation of great taste experiences, especially with their favorite category: whisky. Years ago while on a slew of international business trips, Nital would frequently call his wife (often waking her up in the middle of the night due to time differences!) to tell her about all of the amazing whiskies he tasted. After failing to find many of these “non- traditional” whiskies in the US, Allison took into own her hands and started setting up an import/ export company for this sole purpose.

While exploring the world whisky scene for something “new”, Allison encountered a third generation Cognac producer who had started distilling a unique Single Malt at his farm distillery in the heart of Cognac, France. At that time, a majority of the oldest whisky was around three to four years old in new French Limousin oak barrels. Upon tasting it, Allison immediately knew it was something special. She and the distiller collaborated over a span of three and a half years to refine the aging spirit and continue laying down more barrels as each year’s crop of barley was ready to be harvested. A breakthrough occurred when Allison decided to incorporate his previously used Cognac casks in the whisky aging process. This stimulated the whisky in a beautiful way; ultimately creating a new profile within the Single Malt category that became Brenne Whisky.

Brenne Whisky is crafted from seed to spirit in the heart of Cognac, France in very limited batches. Allison’s first expression, Estate Cask, has no age statement as every barrel is bottled in single barrel releases and the aging time on each cask may vary slightly.

After intense work, Allison is honored to share Brenne with the world, introducing an incredibly smooth, approachable, and fruit-forward French whisky that reinvigorates the category. Brenne officially launched on October 1, 2012 in New York City and we are excited to share our dream with whisky enthusiasts far and wide.

New Craft Beer from Brazil

Cervarjaria Colorado
Ribeirao Preto, Brazil
Founded in 1995, Cerverjaria Colorado is named after it’s first brewing equipment, purchased on the used market. Marcelo Carneiro da Rocha, struggling for a name for his fledgling brewery, thought to himself “The equipment is from Colorado! A good name for a brewery!” Indeed, the brewery is Pan-American, with gear from Canada, The United States and Brazil.

Colorado Guanabara Imperial Stout...$7.99 / 600mlNamed after the famous bay of the same name—the home of Rio de Janeiro—pictured on the label.   Made with black rapadura sugar, a rough-and-ready form of cane sugar. It adds a treacly, molasses note to this stupendous Imperial Stout. Brewed with Colorado’s deft touch, Guanabara is splendidly integrated in overall flavor: hops, malt, sugar all come into balance with roasted notes, gentle bitterness and a nose redolent of figs, pomegranate syrup and a high note of resiny hops.  A beautiful match for game, well-matured cheeses, charcuterie and creme bruleé. Serve cool but not chilled for best, most explosive, flavor.

Colorado Berthô Ale brewed with Brazil Nuts...$7.99 / 600ml
What could be more indicative of it’s origin than Brazil Nuts? In this unique brew, Brazil Nuts are roasted to develop flavor and bring the foam-killing oil to the surface of the nuts. They are cooled slightly and then wiped down by hand to remove the oil. This is repeated until no more oil rises to the surface. Needless to say, it’s an intense brewing process!
The beer is fully nutty, with a rich, full mouthfeel and the very delectable aroma and flavor of freshly roasted nuts. The only brown ale we’ve had that TRULY tastes like a “nut brown”. Delicious, but let it warm up for best aroma and flavor.

First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

Kwak Gift Set

Kwak Gift set with Glass and Stand...$33.99 / set
4 bottles of Kwak plus the glass and wood stand.

"According to tourist guides, there are over 1000 types of Belgian beer. Quite a few of these Belgian beers have their own unique glass. The most distinctive of glasses is the Kwak vessel. This 25 centimetre glass tube with a flared top and a round, bulbous bottom is held by a wooden clamp. In fact, this glass would tip over if you tried to set it down on a table!
According to the Kwak website: “In Napoleon’s time, Pauwel Kwak was a brewer and the owner of the De Hoorn inn (near Brussels). Mail coaches stopped there every day, but at that time coachmen were not allowed to leave their coach and horses,” “As a result, the inventive innkeeper had a special Kwak glass blown that could be hung on the coach. In this way, the coachman had his Kwak beer safely at hand.”
Ordering Kwak for the first time is a great experience. It comes to your table complete with a monogrammed wooden stand. The long neck and round base makes a nice rich, frothy head. You can recognize a Kwak glass from across a crowded bar.
Once you get over the novelty of the glass, Kwak is a very fine Belgian beer. The color is a deep amber, with a creamy colored head. Kwak has a mellow, fruity and malty aroma with very little hops smell. There are some hints of fruit in the taste and aroma such as creamy bannana and liquorice." --www.bestbelgianbeers.com

Highlands/Islands Whiskey of the Year!

Talisker Single Malt Scotch Storm....$73.99

Whisky Advocate Award: Highlands/Islands Single Malt of the Year

Talisker Storm, 45.8%

Talisker in any guise is a very special and idiosyncratic single malt, defining an Island style that is all its own. The last year has seen Diageo expand the existing portfolio with three new Talisker expressions, namely Storm, Dark Storm (matured in heavily charred casks), and Port Ruighe (port finish), all released without age statements. Of this trio, Talisker Storm seems the pick, with one commentator describing it as “…everything that you love about other Taliskers with the settings turned right up.”
Talisker Storm_Hi ResOne of the ways in which the bolder aroma and flavor profile of Storm has been achieved is by using a mix of refill casks and rejuvenated casks. The latter—older casks which have been de-charred and re-charred to give them a new lease on life—offer a distinctive wood influence when again filled with spirit.
Essentially Talisker Storm exhibits a more smoky, maritime character than the familiar 10 year old expression, yet could not be mistaken for anything other than a Talisker. Although it does not carry an age statement, this is one of those instances where you never feel when drinking the dram in question that the lack a specified age is about conserving precious stocks of older whiskies (although that may well be the case). All seems harmonious and well integrated, and any more youthful notes that emerge on the nose or palate seem entirely in keeping with the nature of the expression.
Storm arrived in the U.S. in October, and Talisker aficionados will no doubt argue long and hard over whether it just outpoints the 10 year old. One of the reasons behind the development of Storm was to be able to offer a new Talisker variant that remains true to the brand’s essential character while offering something slightly different, with easy availability and an affordable price. —Gavin Smith

Winemaker Notes
The cooler 2011 vintage yielded an aromatic Merlot with vibrant red fruit layers of Rainier cherry and spiced plum, as well as notes of licorice, tobacco leaf, cardamom and thyme. Hints of cedar, leather and savory spice from aging in French oak barrels contribute depth and nuance, while a streak of uplifting acidity adds dimension to this wine’s smooth velvety texture. Dusty tannins frame a sophisticated finish.
