“This deep amber hued ale takes it’s inspiration from Germany while still nodding to the Belgian farmhouse tradition. The base is comprised of German two-row, wheat, Cara-Munich, and roasted barley. Generously hopped with a blend of Perle, Spalt, and Hallertau Mittelfrüh and fermented with a rustic Belgian farmhouse ale yeast. These elements together provide a melange of earth and fruit aromas backed with hints of caramel with a dry clean finish.”

Beer Tasting at our Rock Hill Location
The Wine and Cheese Place

Rock Hill, MO 63119

Kerry from Perennial will be at our Rock Hill location
This Saturday from 1-3pm (Sept 21)

Taste these great Perennial beers.

Perennial Barry Rye....$13.99 / 750ml
Ale fermented wiht Blackberries. We like to brew music-inspired beers at Perennial. Our latest addition to the playlist is Barry Rye, an 8.2% dark rye ale fermented on local blackberries. The spicy rye notes and blackberry finish complement a beer that strikes a perfect balance of robust body and mild bitterness.

Perennial Artisan Ales Peach Berliner Weisse....$ 11.99 / 750ml

"Our Peach Berliner Weisse is a German-style tart wheat beer that's perfect for the hot summer months. We violate traditional German beer production methods in every way by adding hundreds of pounds of Midwest-grown peaches to each batch. We hope you enjoy the irreverence as much as we do." - Perennial

Perennial Woodside Belgian Tripel with Wild Honey...$13.99 / 750ml
9.1% ABV
Woodside is a Belgian Style Tripel brewed with Woodside Urban Honey produced locally in Maplewood, Missouri. The combination produces a beer with a very slight residual sweetness complemented by the spicy, fruity attributes of the yeast and a soft malt characteristic. While refreshing and deceptively drinkable, this brew does pack a punch with over 9% alcohol by volume.

Parker's Heritage Collection Bourbon

Sold out

Release #7
Parker's Heritage Collection Promise of Hope Single Barrel Bourbon...$79.99
7th Edition of annual super-premium release will earmark $20 per bottle for ALS research and patient care in honor of Master Distiller Emeritus Parker Beam

BARDSTOWN, KY—For Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., the fall release of the annual Parker's Heritage Collection bottling is always a labor of love, but this year's release could more accurately be described as a labor for love.
Heaven Hill Master Distiller Emeritus Parker Beam, who has recently been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also called ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease), and for whom the acclaimed series is named, has selected special barrels of Bourbon for this year's edition that mirror his own personal preference for age, proof and warehouse location. Called the "Promise of Hope" bottling, this seventh in the acclaimed series will feature a remarkable cause-related component—for each bottle of the "Promise of Hope" edition sold, Heaven Hill will contribute $20 to the Parker Beam Promise of Hope Fund, a fund established through the ALS Association in honor of the legendary 6th Generation Master Distiller ( Heaven Hill is estimating the overall contribution to the Promise of Hope Fund will be in excess of $250,000.
In addition to being the first cause-related bottling in the Parker's Heritage Collection series, the Promise of Hope bottling will mark the first time that a single barrel American Whiskey has been offered in the collection. Parker Beam, a past recipient of Whisky Advocate's Lifetime Achievement Award and a charter member of the Bourbon Hall of Fame who is in his 53rd year at Heaven Hill, painstakingly sampled and selected Bourbon barrels that met his own personal "wish list" criteria. From among Heaven Hill's nearly one million barrels in storage, Parker selected approximately 100 barrels of ten-year-old rye-based Bourbon from one of his favorite warehouses, the tiered 80-year-old Rickhouse EE in Deatsville, where they sat in high storage for 40 seasons. Each of the chosen barrels was dumped and bottled, with no chill-filtering, in 750ml bottles at Parker's preferred bottling proof of 96° (48% alcohol/volume). The 7th Edition Parker's Heritage Collection Promise of Hope will be available on select retail shelves and at fine bars and restaurants nationwide starting in mid-September at an average retail price of $90 for the 750ml bottle.
This year's release of Parker's Heritage Collection promises to be a worthy successor to the previous six releases, which, having won multiple awards from Whisky Advocate Magazine (formerly Malt Advocate Magazine), Whisky Magazine and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, stand as some of the most critically lauded American Whiskeys in recent memory. Past bottlings have won awards ranging from "Best North American Whiskey" to "American Whiskey of the Year" to "Best of Show, Brown Spirits."
Packaged in the same upscale 750ml bottle as the previous six editions, the Parker's Heritage Collection Promise of Hope bottling is part of a number of cause-related efforts Heaven Hill and Parker Beam have recently taken on to help in the fight against ALS, a neurological disease which affects approximately 30,000 Americans at any time. Also part of this effort is the recently announced Master Distillers' Unity, a special crystal two bottle set of Bourbon from all the major Kentucky heritage distilleries blended together which will be offered at the Bonham's Whisky, Cognac and Rare Spirits auction in New York City on October 13th. All proceeds from the auction of this one-time bottling will also go toward the Promise of Hope Fund.
"I, my wife Linda, my son Craig and all my family are honored and enthusiastic about our efforts toward helping those affected by ALS", stated Parker Beam, "and the new Promise of Hope edition of my Parker's Heritage Collection represents a great way for Bourbon fans and even novices to enjoy a great single barrel Bourbon while helping make a real difference in the fight against ALS. I enjoyed developing the profile and selecting these barrels that represent 'my favorite things' in a Bourbon, and I feel sure that anyone who purchases a bottle will get an outstanding single barrel Bourbon and the satisfaction of knowing they are helping with this worthy cause."
The 2013 Parker's Heritage Collection Promise of Hope is a very limited release, as all of the previous six editions have been, but Heaven Hill will be releasing more cases than in the past to maximize fund raising. And as always, once these are shipped from Bardstown, no more will be available.

"Italy has a certain “je ne sais quoi” – fab food culture, highly decadent history of art and cool countryside. Some might argue the people are loud and flamboyant, they steal our women, and their soccer players melodramatically flop on the pitch. Listen – that’s all part of the secret Italian ingredient – keep it cool, confident, arrogant and extravagant. Forza Italia!" -- label

Local Option Voku HIla and Morning Wood

In stock at Forsyth
(Local Options online now)

Two new ones from Local Option

Local Option Voku Hila....$7.49 / pint
Style: Helles Bock
ABV: 6.5%
Vokuhila is a strong lager developed and brewed by Local Option Bierwerker. This maibock is golden in color with a large, creamy, persistent white head; aromatically driven by robust toast and bread notes derived from continental European pale malts with moderate spice from noble German hops. Vokulhila will be appreciated by lager and mullet enthusiasts alike.

Local Option Morning Wood...$7.49 / pint
Style: Hybrid Ale
ABV: 7%
Morning Wood is an oak-aged coffee ale developed by the Local Option Bierwerker. Fresh American oak used during the aging process and Dark Matter’s El Salvador San Jose pulp-natural coffee aromatically drive the beer; while remaining subtle components of the beers’ complete flavor profile. The amber colored, medium-bodied, and extraordinarily well-balanced ale was first unveiled at the Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beers in November 2011. Morning Wood’s taste is delicate and should be appreciated by beer drinkers of all palates.

Education:  Meritage
In my 15 years in the wine business no “wine term” has proved more confusing in terms of pronunciation and concept than Meritage (even spell check thinks I’ve misspelled the word).

Although many people, including many wine experts, have a tendency to Frenchify the word "Meritage" by pronouncing its last syllable with a "zh" sound, as in "garage," the Meritage Alliance specifically states that the word should be pronounced to rhyme with "heritage”, in fact Meritage is the simple combination of the words Merit and Heritage.

The Meritage Association was formed in 1988 by a small group of Napa Valley, California vintners increasingly frustrated by U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives regulations stipulating wines contain at least 75% of a specific grape to be labeled as that varietal. As interest grew in creating Bordeaux-style wines, which by their blended nature fail to qualify for varietal status, members sought to create a recognizable name for their high-quality blended wines.

A red Meritage must be made from a blend of at least two of the following varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, or Carmenère, with no varietal comprising more than 90% of the blend.
Come taste one our favorite Meritage wines this weekend:

Amazing price on this great Tuscan wine

Yes, that is the correct price $39.99
2008 Isole e Olena Cepparello....$39.99
The lowest price online is $49
The Wine Spectator suggested retail is $80
The 2008 Cepparello emerges from the glass with sweet herbs, flowers, mint and licorice. There is a distinctly high-toned register to the 2008 that is largely the result of a year with very cold temperatures in the final phase of ripening. This mid-weight Cepparello stands apart for its pure energy and drive. Though outstanding today, the 2008 also appears to have plenty of potential for the future. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2029.

2011 Decoy (Duckhorn) Pinot Noir....$15.99

Schlafly Pilsner get it while you can!

Schlafly announced that they will be discontinuing Pilsner in bottles.  It will still be available year round on draft.

We should still see Schlafly Pilsner in bottles probably until early to mid October.   Make sure you grab some and enjoy it at home while you still can.

In stock now!

Schlafly Pilsner
ABV: 5.0% | IBU: 30
Our Pilsner is a golden and crystal clear lager. The hops lend a pleasant bitterness and a lemony, peppery taste. They are added at the beginning of the brew for bitterness and the end for flavor. The subtle and lightly toasted flavor of the malts is the perfect backbone to showcase the special hop blend.

Pilsner can be traced to its namesake, the city of Plzeň (pronounced pilsen) in the western half of the Czech Republic, once part of Bohemia. In 1842, Joseph Groll developed the first light colored beer, an immediate success. Still a popular style, Pilsner influenced the American light lager we know today.

2010 Alban Vineyards Patrina Syrah....$49.99
First made in 2008, and available only through distribution (i.e. not via the mailing list), the 2010 Patrina is a perfect entry into the wines of the estate. Made from 100% Syrah (from a variety of estate vineyards) and aged two years in 70% new French oak, it’s one hell of an entry-level effort and boasts gorgeously pure aromatics (cassis, raspberry, flowers, spice), full-bodied richness and an overall layered, fresh profile that’s hard to resist. While it doesn’t have the back-end depth of the single vineyard releases, it doesn’t skimp on texture and length. Enjoy it over the coming 5-8 years. Drink now-2021.
