Duvel 666 Belgian Blond Ale...$3.89 / 4pk 11.2oz bottle
Duvel 666 Belgian Blond Ale...$13.99 / 4pk 11.2oz bottle
6.66% ABV
The sunny, warm yellow design of the bottles already suggests it. This Duvel is mild, expressive and deliciously drinkable.

No fewer than 6 different hop varieties are used for Duvel 6,66%: just like the classic Duvel, it’s based on the noble and exclusive hop varieties Saaz and Styrian Golding. The flavour is then balanced by adding four expertly selected hop varieties to the mix, which also involves the dry-hopping technique.

AWARDS  Duvel 6.66% already received two awards in its launch year:Gold medal in the Haute Fermentation/Blonde category at Le Concours International de Lyon.
Gold medal in the Belgian Style Hoppy Blond category at the International Beer Challenge in the United Kingdom.

Whiskey Advocate Top Whiskeys of 2022!

Here are Whisky Advocate
Top 10 Whiskies of the Year!

#10 Whiskey of the Year
Nelson Bros Reserve Bourbon...$49.99 / 750ml
Charlie and Andy Nelson resurrected the family company in 2009, a century after it was shuttered by Tennessee’s Prohibition laws. Initial efforts focused on a second label, Belle Meade, which scored well. This year came the first releases bearing the family name on two bourbon labels–Nelson Bros. Classic and Reserve. Both have carried on the legacy admirably. This one packs a punch but is soft and gentle at the same time, offering red berry and vanilla malt aromas and a palate of melted marshmallow, coconut shavings, and baked apple. Like all good whiskeys, it saves the best for last, with a long, creamy finish of chocolate and spice.—David Fleming

#9 Whiskey of the Year
Bruichladdich 8 year old Islay Barley 2013...$69.99
This expression, now in its eighth edition, showcases Bruichladdich’s commitment to Islay terroir. It’s an 8 year old in a world of double-digit age stated scotch, but you’ll never accuse this delightful whisky of being too young. Sweet biscuity aromas along with ripe peaches and pears lead to a creamy palate of lemon cake, candied orange, nougat and vanilla, all balanced by the wood influence and hints of salinity. Water brings out sweet nectar and honey. The finish is graceful, long, and lively, making this a truly memorable dram. —David Savona

#8 Whiskey of the Year
Limavady Single Barrel(0039)...$43.99
***Disclaimer** We do not have the same batch/barrel no. that was reviewed
We currently have barrel no. 0136 available (subject to change)
Limavady’s master distiller Darryl McNally’s masterstroke has been to take the lead on single barrel releases within the Irish whiskey scene. This sourced single malt is triple-distilled from 100% malted Irish barley, matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, and finished in Pedro Ximénez casks, delivering a lusciously sweet combination of barley sugar, butterscotch, candied orange peel, and pepperiness. Now working in partnership with WhistlePig, McNally, a former distiller at Bushmills and Dublin Liberties Distilleries, is hoping that success will enable a new Limavady Distillery to be built one day. Until then, we can enjoy this singularly original dram. —Jonny McCormick

#7 Whiskey of the Year
Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut Missouri Single Barrel...$43.99
Blue Note Juke Joint Uncut -  Disclaimer: we do not have the batch they rated
While this is bottled in Memphis, Tennessee by B.R. Distilling, Blue Note Juke Joint is a Kentucky straight bourbon, and it’s a big one. That’s due in large part to being bottled at barrel proof, coming in at 58.75% ABV. The nose is fruit-forward, evoking freeze-dried strawberries, strawberry Blow Pop, cherry cobbler, pumpkin pie, and black tea with honey. The palate is hot, but not to its detriment, and it’s wonderfully creamy throughout. Chocolate-covered cherries are at the fore, joined by lemon-poppyseed muffin, fresh-squeezed lemon, grated ginger, brown sugar-cinnamon oatmeal, and a hint of licorice. The finish is long, inviting you to take another sip. —Julia Higgins

#6 Whiskey of the Year
Midleton Very Rare 2022 Vintage...$229.99
Exuberant and irresistible, this year’s release by master distiller Kevin O’Gorman was deftly stylish; a composition of carefully selected stocks of single pot still and single grain whiskeys aged between 12 and 33 years. Each vintage in the series, which launched in 1984, has its own unique flavor profile and comes from the pick of the American oak bourbon casks in the Midleton warehouses. The sweeter grain components shine beautifully here, with flourishes of floral, honey, and toasted oak aromas against a captivating backdrop of fresh fruit, citrus, and wood spice flavors, and an elongated finish of creamy vanilla. —Jonny McCormick

#5 Whiskey of the Year - **NOT AVAILABLE IN MISSOURI
Westward Cask Strength
Founded in 2004 by Christian Krogstad, a brewer and winemaker turned distiller, Westward is a pioneer of American single malt. Despite a comparatively short history to that of Scotland, whiskeys like this have helped to prove the potential of the category. whose stature in the whiskey world continues to grow. Westward’s signature style takes the sweet, maltdriven base of traditional single malt spirit and matures it in new charred oak barrels, akin to bourbon. Bottled at cask strength, the flavor impression is of warm porridge and honey graham crackers laced with toasty oak, then cigar wrapper and butterscotch on the finish. A satisfying American original. —Jeffery Lindenmuth

#4 Whiskey of the Year
Dewar's 12 year old....$29.99
Reinvention, reimagination, call it what you will, but Dewar’s master blender Stephanie Macleod’s introduction of first-fill bourbon cask finishing elevates this classic to the higher echelons of blended scotch whisky. It may seem a small gesture, but the result of combining the marrying and finishing processes is both captivatingly delicious and texturally silken, adding seemingly infinite layers of honey, vanilla, dried apricot, citrus, chocolate, and soft oak to the tasting experience, interwoven with a wisp of smoke. Without changing a beat of the blend’s 40 malts and grains, Macleod’s methods prove her mastery of the craft yet again. —Jonny McCormick
Rated 94/100

#3 Whiskey of the Year
Barrell Vantage Bourbon....$74.99
114.44 proof
Bourbon whiskey finished in Mizunara, French and toasted American oak
Distilled in Indiana, Tennessee and Kentucky
Already an established force in the world of blending, Barrell Craft Spirits has demonstrated its finishing prowess with a series of creative releases that marry different cask types together. Vantage is the most recent, and to us, the most successful. The nose has a bake shop sweetness, with aromas of sugar cookie, nutty chocolate brownies, and Funfetti cake, plus earthy dried tobacco leaves and strawberry candies underneath. The creamy palate delivers rich chocolate, Red Hots, and with water added, dried leaves and snickerdoodles. Big cinnamon spice on the finish ties this one up beautifully. —Ted Simmons
Rated 95/100

#2 Whiskey of the Year
Redbreast Kentucky Oak Edition
(This one sold out earlier in the year)
Redbreast’s new series champions the influence of American oak from various parts of the U.S., leaning less heavily on its signature sherried style. For this first U.S. exclusive, Irish Distillers worked with the Taylor family, renowned for their sustainable forestry practices, to select oaks from the Elk Cave Farm in Gravel Switch, Kentucky. The virgin oak cask-finished single pot still whiskey amplifies flavors of sliced almond, creamy vanilla, cinder toffee, red fruits, and oak spice, drawing inspiration from techniques developed with Irish oak for Midleton’s Dair Ghaelach series, while being bottled at 101 proof to pay homage to the Bluegrass State. —Jonny McCormick

Luckily we had a decent amount in stock before it was announced!

#1 Whiskey of the Year
Jack Daniels Bonded Tennessee Whiskey...$29.99
For the team at Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, filling barrels for its Old No. 7 brand, the largest selling American whiskey in the world, has been a nearly all-consuming task over the decades. But there have been some adventures beyond that core label, of course, and this year we were treated to one of them—Jack Daniel’s Bonded. In selecting the whiskeys for this final blend, the search was on throughout the warehouses for whiskeys with boldness and depth of color. That search struck gold, as Jack Daniel’s Bonded emerged to become our 2022 Whisky of the Year. Like all bonded whiskeys, Jack Daniel’s Bonded was produced in one distilling season, aged for a minimum of 4 years, and bottled at 50% alcohol by volume. Our tasters found gentle aromas of dried herbs, cherry, banana, and well-integrated oak on the nose, leading to a bold palate of honeyed peanuts, brown sugar, dark chocolate, and melted caramel, all accented by peppery spice. Even with its heft and pleasant mature notes, this is still a fresh, vibrant whiskey. It’s also one with lots of character, offering a host of flavors that marry well. Jack Daniel’s Bonded isn’t entirely new, as it has been available in global Travel Retail for the past several years. This year became the chosen moment to have it join the permanent range. It’s now part of the new Jack Daniel’s Bonded Series, which seems a likely place where we will find other interesting bonded expressions in the future. —David Fleming

Switchgrass Spirits Tasting TONIGHT!

SWITCHGRASS SPIRITS TASTING
FRIDAY DECEMBER 9th FROM 4PM-6PM
AT SPIRIT WINE AND CRAFT
5760 CHIPPEWA ST

We officially started our efforts in 2016 with a goal of creating an equitable craft distillery that manufactured high quality whiskey and brandy. We spent the next few years honing our skills as distillers and rebuilding a historic American Legion Hall on the north side of Saint Louis. We focus on creating and aging only our own product using Midwestern labor and ingredients. Even our glass bottles are produced less than an hour away from our distillery. In February of 2020 we released our first aged and bottled cocktail to the public and have steadily worked since then to offer a variety of popular whiskies, fruit brandies, and collaborative experiments.
So why the name Switchgrass Spirits? There was a time when you could visit one of the ubiquitous Midwestern prairies and be greeted by some truly amazing native grassland scenery. One of the most striking views you would have taken in were the oceans of deeply rooted switchgrass that stretched as far as the eye could see. A single blade of grass might not have looked like much, but all together, they created one of nature’s most beautiful and simple masterpieces. Switchgrass Spirits was made possible by so many people coming together to create something bigger than themselves. Only through the investments of our friends and family, and support from our community was it possible to move forward with our vision of creating a worker-owned, environmentally conscious company. Our name is a nod to our local environment and everyone involved in getting us to where we are today.

Pennsylvania Dutch

Pennsylvania Dutch Salted Caramel Cream Liqueur...$13.99 / 750ml

Deliciously satisfying. Perfectly balanced layers of sweet and salty are blended into a rich, creamy base

Licor 43

Licor 43 Original...$26.99 / 750ml
Compare to $28.99 at Total Wine and More
Licor 43 derives its delightful taste and golden lustre from an age-old recipe consisting of 43 natural ingredients. The mix of secret ingredients is not enough to create Licor 43. Only the sum of top expertise, the Zamora family recipe and perfect timings and temperatures; can turn all ingredients into gold.
SENSORIAL DESCRIPTOR
Licor 43 is a liqueur with a complex, but harmonic flavour profile that can be perceived at four levels:
CITRUS
Reminiscence to the lively citrus aromas of Mediterranean citrus gardens.
BOTANIC
The subtle spiced touch of coriander.
SWEET
The sweet palate of mature fruit and nuances of vanilla.
FLORAL
Soft notes of Mediterranean orange and lemon blossom, with a certain point of astringency derived from the peel of citrus fruits, smoothed with notes of mature fruits.

USE LIQUOR 43 TO MAKE A BEER SHOT

Mini Beer Shots

INGREDIENTS
1.5 ounces Licor 43 - chilled
Heavy cream
INSTRUCTIONS
1.Start by filling a shot glass 2/3 full of chilled Licor 43. (I recommend using a shot glass that looks like a mini beer glass for the full effect. I’ve linked a few of my favorites in the note section below.)
2.Then, create the “foam head” by adding a layer of heavy cream to the top of the Licor 43. You can do this by pouring on the cream very slowly. Another option is to pour the cream over the back of a spoon.
3.Finally, it's time to toast and enjoy!

Teeling Whiskey

Teeling Blackpitts Peated Single Malt Whiskey...$71.99 / 750ml
Inspired by the old ancient Blackpitts area just behind the new Teeling Whiskey Distillery based in Newmarket in the old Liberties area of Dublin City, this area was synonymous with many industries and in particular malting houses. Blackpitts was traditionally home to some of the largest barley malting houses in Ireland. By using smoke from peat to dry the barley during the malting process, the resulting peated malt produces a distinctive smoky taste profile which is the signature of a Peated Single Malt.
However, what makes Teeling Blackpitts so unique is the triple distillation process, which reduces some of the medicinal character you would get from a traditional Scottish Peated Single Malt and allows the more barbeque smoke characteristic to shine. This is then combined with signature Teeling innovative cask maturation using both ex-bourbon and ex-Sauternes white wine casks, which is bottled at 46% with no chill filtration to produce a truly different and unique expression of Teeling and Irish Whiskey. The inspiration for the use of these casks came from a previous bottling of Teeling 24-Year-Old Single Malt which was honoured as the “World’s Best Single Malt” in 2019 at the World Whiskies Awards.
Tasting Notes:
An inviting nose where barbeque smoke and cloves are intermingled with fresh notes of butterscotch and orange peel.
On the pallet a fascinating blend of Applewood smoke, honey and all spice are married with stewed pears and fresh grilled pineapple. This whiskey finishes with the return of a savoury smoke over a lingering wood undertone, which combines delightfully with notes of salted caramel.

Xila Licor de Agave 7 Notas

Xila Licor de Agave 7 Notas...$34.99 / 750ml
This mezcal-based liqueur is inspired by two of Mexico’s most captivating and significant cultures: the Oaxacan and Pueblan. The long leaved, succulent agave plant characterizes the state of Oaxaca; the traditional agave spirit is blended with the flavor-packed, smoky ancho chile of Puebla.
Hillhamn Salome founded Flor de Luna in Mexico City in 2015, as the country's first female-powered distillery - her production team consists of five women, including herself. Fittingly, Xila means woman in the Mexican indigenous language of Zapotec. Seven notes make up the unique recipe, each carefully selected for their harmonic affinity with the others. Caramelized pineapple, lavender, chile ancho, hibiscus flower, clove, cinnamon, and black pepper.

-distilled from grain
-alc | vol: 24% 48 proof
TASTING NOTES:
This is a Gentian forward Amaro. The appearance is a striking all natural orange derived from Annato seeds. The aroma is floral with a complex bitter balanced against sweet; holding well in cocktails without being too sweet. The bitterness particularly Gentian lingers on pleasantly long after sipping.
Falcon Spirits Fernet Francisco Manzanilla...$32.99 / 750ml
Double Gold - San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2022
PRODUCTION NOTES:
We infuse a medley of aromatic herbs and botanicals for 3 weeks in local grape based brandy using stainless steel fermentors. Meanwhile, in our Arnold Holstein pot still, we craft a bold and aromatic chamomile tea which is used to blend down infusions to our desired ABV.
The result is a focused expression of chamomile, with a splash of mint and balanced bitter finish. Classed as a bitters, Manzanilla contains 3 grams of residual sugar per liter, making it the driest fernet on the market.
Falcon Spirits Fernet Francisco Ruibarbo...$33.99 / 750ml
Gold - San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2022
PRODUCTION NOTES:
Using Rhubarb root as the focused botanical, Ruibarbo is the newest expression of Fernet Francisco. Much like Manzanilla, we infuse a medley of aromatic herbs and botanicals for 3 weeks in local grape based brandy using stainless steel fermentors. However, we have increased the overall weight of Rhubarb that’s added to our infusions creating a rounder, sweeter, and slightly spicier liqueur. You’ll also notice that the spearmint and peppermint bontaincals were removed from the process to let the Rhubarb root shine. In place of them are a few “new” additions that help balance the overall profile.
