Stagg Jr. Bourbon

Back in stock

!

Stagg Jr Bourbon...$46.99
George T. Stagg built the most dominant American distillery of the 19th century, during a time known as the Gilded Age of Bourbon. Uncut and unfiltered, this robust bourbon whiskey ages for nearly a decade and boasts the bold character that is reminiscent of the man himself.

TASTING NOTES:
Rich, sweet, chocolate and brown sugar flavors mingle in perfect balance with the bold rye spiciness. The boundless finish lingers with hints of cherries, cloves and smokiness.

Side Projece Merci Blend #1....$29.99 / 750ml
Side Project Merci Blend #1 is blend of Saison du Ble and a 2 year old American Wild Ale

We have been patiently waiting for our first Side Project release.  Looks like the first beer put in barrel by Side Project for The Wine and Cheese Place was back in June 2013 according to my notes!.   Those barrels are still ageing and waiting for the perfect time for release.  We are excited to announce that Cory and Karen King have made a special release for The Wine and Cheese Place (these were not any of our barrels that we supplied).    They are calling it "Merci" for Thank You and we would like to say Thank you to them also for doing this!   It is a pleasure working with them and has been for many years now.  Looking forward to many more releases.

Against the Grain Little Did We Know

Against the Grain
“LITTLE DID WE KNOW”...$17.99 / 750ml

"Collaborate My Sons"

Our most recent collaboration effort with Stillwater Ales (Baltimore MD).
Brian 'Stillwater' Strumke came to Kentucky for a second time to brew this unique saison. Brewed with house smoke malts (featuring sage smoked and pecan smoked malts) and finished with Brettanomyces, this saison is a beautiful piece of art. Bright and fruity, in saison fashion and a light tinge of earthy smoke round this farmhouse ale out.

Two Brothers new release

Two Brothers new releases are here!!

Two Brothers Hoppy Dark Wheat Beer...$9.99 / 6 pack CANS
The short days and long nights bring this prowling cat out on the town, looking to scatch up some fun with a great beer. This Night Cat is dark in color, bold in hop but not heavy in body. It is full of tropical fruit notes from the Citra hops that combine with a nice dark wheat malt flavor.

Two Brothers Revelry Imperial Red...$14.99 / 6 pack
This resiny imperial red ale is loaded with citrus and pine aromas that dominate the complex toasty malt character. Revel in the hops.

Two Brothers Northwind Imperial Stout...$10.99 / 6 pack
Dark delights like this were once shipped to the Imperial Court of Russia. With a firm roasty maltiness balanced against a generous helping of hops, Northwind can stand up to the worst its namesake can dish out! Enjoy it by a roaring fire.

Two Brothers Wobble IPA...$9.99 / 6 pack
Two Brothers set out to make a wide variety of creative and complex, yet balanced beers. But…once in a while we feel a need to “wobble” on the edge of really hoppy. Wobble IPA is golden in color with subtle malt character, big complex citrus and piney hop notes throughout.

95 Point Chianti!

2010 Il Molino di Grace Chianti Classico...$22.99
"Complex and very long on the nose, with damson fruit, sweet spice and an underlying earthiness. Medium weight palate with tight, fine tannins and excellent follow-through, finishing with ripe, rich fruit and wild herb notes."
Rated 95/100 Decanter Magazine

97 Point Robert Parker dessert wine!

2009 Foreau Clos Naudin Reserve Vouvray Moelleux...$99.99
What there was in this vintage of botrytis, Foreau reports, essentially went into his 2009 Vouvray Moelleux Reserve. Brown-spiced pear liqueur and quince preserves dominate the proceedings – wreathed in perfume of freesia and lily – and there are buoyancy and elegance, despite viscosity, enormous richness of texture and residual sweetness, that indeed point to the magic nobility rot can convey. Its sense of lift – when combined with luscious, still juicy suggestions of grapefruit and blood orange familiar from the corresponding demi-sec – wards off any risk of palate fatigue. Mysterious botrytis manifestations of stale bread, truffle, and white raisin emerge from the empty glass. This extraordinary achievement will stand with such past great Foreau moelleux reserves as 2005, 2003, and 1989-90 and is likely to merit 30 or more years of consideration. In direct comparison, what strikes one about the 2005 today is its more obvious sense of botrytis and its slightly diminished sense of acidity and lift. But it maintains the edge in sheer complexity.

New Highspire Pure Rye

Batch #1

Highspire Pure Rye Whiskey....$35.99
Highspire Pure Rye Whiskey is made with 100% rye grain grown by local farmers specifically for Highspire. The whiskey is swiftly aged in California wine barrels, allowing enough time to introduce subtle flavors of oak and vanilla, mature the whiskey slightly and showcase the true spice of 100% rye grain. By aging the whiskey in California wine barrels, the delicate flavors of the wine’s fruit and spice are introduced to compliment the rye and create a well rounded approachable whiskey.

Proprietor, Austin Hope has applied his expertise in winemaking to the creation of Highspire Pure Rye Whiskey. We developed an aging method by creating a blend of oak staves to add into our barrels that does not take years to express the true distinctive flavor of 100% rye whiskey.

2012 Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay....$29.99
Shows off seductive notes of smoky, toasty oak and cream, with fresh, rich, vibrant fruit to match. The flavors of poached pear, fig, honeydew melon, spice and black licorice all fold together on a long, pure, persistent finish. Drink now through 2020
Rated 93/100 The Wine Spectator
The Chardonnay Private Reserve became famous under the helmsmanship of chief winemaker Ed Sbragia, and Laurie Hook has refined it ever so slightly by somewhat backing off the oak, and maintaining the depth and richness, but with more precision and refinement. The full-bodied 2012 Chardonnay Private Reserve exhibits wonderful orange blossom, white peach and pineapple fruit, a subtle touch of vanillin and toast, and a nicely layered, pure style with terrific fruit intensity. It is a great value, especially if you compare its quality to just about any premier cru or grand cru white Burgundy selling for 2-10 times as much. Drink now

Odell Fernet Aged Porter

Odell Brewing Fernet Aged Porter...$14.99
Over the past year, we’ve collected empty Fernet Barrels from our friends at Leopold Bros. Distillery. Their distinct Fernet includes lavender, honeysuckle, ginger root, bitter aloe, dandelion root, rose petals, chamomile, and pepper. Inspired by the herb & spice flavors of this dark minty liqueur, we promptly filled the barrels with a rich porter. The roasty chocolate malt character is infused with hints of mint and licorice from the herb-soaked oak, creating a decadent flavor and aroma.

Stillwater Sensory Series Volume v. 3 Night Vision...$12.99 / 750ml

The Stillwater Sensory Series is a collaboration between Stillwater Artisanal and singular musical artists. In the third volume, Stillwater works with Tennis to make an ale based on an interpretation of their song, "Night Vision." On the bottle itself, a QR code links to this exclusive performance of the song. Ultimately, this is a true artistic collaboration that aims to create a full sensory experience - sound, sight, smell, touch, and taste.

"Night Vision" by Tennis

Tennis is Denver couple Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley. The duo began writing music together as a way to document the history of their time living aboard a sailboat. Their new album "Ritual in Repeat" was released on September 9, 2014.

"I was introduced to Patrick & Alaina by mutual friends back in Baltimore where we gathered around to listen to some early recordings of their album while drinking some of my beer. When the song 'Night Vision' came on, i was instantly drawn in.

It seemed like a departure from their previous work, it was dark, minimal and driving, but then Alaina's lovely voice shined through and made it what is definitively, Tennis. This i knew had to be the inspiration for v.3 of the Sensory Series. A solid light orange body weighing in at 6.9% ABV with rays of citrusy hops and the expression of wild yeasts."

-Brian Strumke (Stillwater Artisanal)

Viking Blod Mead is back in stock!

Dansk Mjod
"This artisan metheglin style Danish mead has hibiscus, which gives its soft, citruslike flavour and very floral aroma. Its finish is hoppy-dry, spicey, and very warming
Mead is probably the oldest known alcoholic beverage in the world. From Europe to Australia mead has been a popular drink, dating back to long before Viking Times. One of the earliest references to mead can be found in the Hindu's of India's holy books, the Veda books, which date back 4000 years and possibly even earlier than that. The oldest known recipe for mead to be written down in the Nordic countries was in 1520 by the Archbishop Olaus Magnus. The recipe comprised of water, honey, hops and brewers yeast, and concludes, that "on the eight day - or earlier in emergencies - the mead may be drunk, but the longer it is left, the purer, better and healthier it will be."Our products are brewed based on a recipe from about year 1700, and the ingredients are pure and 100 pct. natural - guaranteed free from additives of any kind. Honey is the major and most important item in the recipe." -- importer
