A new load of Duplessis Chablis

Duplessis began working organically in 2007 and gained ECOCERT certification in 2010

Great producer and tiny production

2012 Duplessis Chablis Montmains 1er Cru...$39.99
The 2012 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains comes from the last parcel in the climat before it becomes Forest. It has a subtle marine influence on the nose that the other premier crus do not exhibit at present, but with a couple minutes swirling, it also offers attractive wet pavement scents. The palate is lively on the entry with red apples, a touch of pear and apricot, well-judged acidity and a satisfying, long finish. Drink 2015-2024.

2013 Duplessis Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru..$69.99
Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Brouilland. The 2013 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos has a fragrant, floral bouquet with citrus fruit, Japanese yuzu and dried orange peel: well defined and brimming with energy. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry, a little waxiness in the texture (perhaps due to a touch of botrytised fruit?). Moderate weight in the mouth with a dash of spice on the finish, this is a fine Chablis les Clos that needs another 3-4 years in bottle.

2013 Duplessis Chablis Montee de Tonnerre 1er Cru...$39.99
Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Brouilland. The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre has a more complex bouquet than its peers, with yellow and white flower scents permeating the citrus fruit and subtle mineral aromas. This is detailed and more sophisticated than others in this blind tasting. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, saline in the mouth, not long but there is weight and a sense of ambition here, with a long and satisfying aftertaste. This is very fine indeed.

2015 Duplessis Chablis Montee de Tonnerre 1er Cru...$39.99
The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre has a clean, fresh and vibrant bouquet with lovely flinty and smoky scents. This has a real brightness to it. The palate is slightly viscous on the entry but there is more complexity here than with the Fourchaume, the acidity sharper and counterbalancing the richness locked into this Montée de Tonnerre. It finishes with notes of cooking apple and a touch of ginger, although I would have liked a little more persistence on the finish. But I appreciate the style and panache of this Chablis. It may turn out even better than the 2014.
Drink 2018-2018

2015 Duplessis Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru...$39.99
The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Vaillons is a blend of four parcels with differing vine age and rootstocks and vinified separately. It has a fragrant bouquet with scents of dried honey and beeswax and a faint nuttiness in the background, although I would like to see more delineation develop in bottle. The palate is lively on the entry with just a hint of curry leaf here, spicy and vivacious with quite a complex finish that I suspect will need little aging compared to other vintages.
Drink 2019-2127
