Krug Grande Cuvée 169ème Édition

Krug Grande Cuvée 169ème Édition....$89.98 / 375ml
Every year since the foundation of the House of Krug, a new Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée is created to offer the most generous expression of Champagne.
This bottle belongs to the 169ème Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée, a blend of 146 wines from 11 different years. The youngest is from the year 2013 and the oldest dates back to 2000. A stay of around seven years in Krug’s cellars gives this Édition its remarkable expression and elegance. Every glass poured from it is the fruit of more than 20 years of careful craftsmanship.

The 169ème Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée was composed around the harvest of 2013. The season began with a seemingly endless winter followed by a rainy and cool spring. Luckily, summer was hot and sunny, although also marked by hailstorms, which took their toll in the vineyards. The wines of the year were complete, expressive and full of flavours.

To create this Édition, the Cellar Master looked to accentuate the year’s fullness and beautiful aromatic elegance with different plots’ wines from 10 other years. The careful attention given to the vines and Krug’s unique respect for the individual character of each plot enabled the breadth of expression of this Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée.

In all, reserve wines from the House’s extensive library made up 40% of the final blend, bringing the breadth and roundness so essential to each Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée.

The final composition of this bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée is 43% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 22% Meunier.

2018 Almarada Uco Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Great Cabernet Value from Argentina

2018 Almarada Uco Valley Cabernet Sauvignon...$13.99
We had such great success with Almarada's Malbec we very excited to find out that made a Cabernet. Once we tried it, we knew we had to have it in our stores. This Cabernet leans toward Bordeaux in style. Nose of blackberry, graphite and a touch of tobacco. Medium to full body with rich fruit on the pallet and some nice silky tannins on the finish.

Antonio Mas was born in Mendoza and holds a BA in Agronomy from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. He has devoted his time to study every clone from the varieties he has cultivated and vinified and is one of the leading experts in his field. In 1992 he established the first Argentinean boutique winery: Finca La Anita. Antonio was inspired by the concept of French Choteau: vineyards of great genetic and variety purity, identifying clones of every variety, and growing grapes and vinify them near the same place where they were planted, from specific plots, true single vineyards. Roche Audran Cotes du Rhone Villages Cesar

Certified Organic & Biodynamic
Demeter France--Biodynamic

2016 Roche Audran Cotes du Rhone Villages Cesar...$25.99
100% Grenache
The vines for the César range from 55 to 100 years old, and grow in very complex soil formed by the same geological upheavals that created the Alps. The grapes are hand-picked by parcel, with very low (25-35 hectoliters per hectare) yields. Though the Cuvée Cesar falls under the Côtes du Rhône Villages appellation, it is a wine that outshines many wines with a more prestigious pedigree. His very old Grenache vines produce a wine packed with black raspberry, black pepper, with hints of cassis fruit, all supported by firm ripe tannins. In the nose plum, red and black cherry, and garrigue spices mingle together. While the “Cuvée César” is a relatively lush and generous wine, it is also a wine built for the long term. So drink it now with a nice steak au poivre, or wait a few years and try it with venison or duck breast.

Roederer Champagne! Happy New Year!

Great New Year's Sparkler from Champagne Roederer
NV Roederer Brut Premier Collection $49.99
42% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 18% Meunier from 55% estate vineyards; 16% fermented and matured in oak casks; 30% malolactic. The rise and evolution of this cuvée over the past 15 years, and particularly since the construction of its dedicated facility in 2007, has showed no sign of slowing today, as Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon continues his fanatical regime of experimenting, tweaking and refining every detail. I’ve long adored Brut Premier, a grand pinnacle and dependable bargain in the non-vintage Champagne stakes.
Rated 94/100 Decanter Magazine

2012 Roederer Brut Vintage...$75.99
Just over two-thirds Pinot Noir (Verzenay) and the balance southeast-facing Chardonnay from Chouilly. This has 30% of oak fermentation which has compressed the wine, lending it an air of extreme concentration. The nose is gently spicy, offering peaches and cherries as well as neat autolysis edge. The palate has a powerful, long and assertive feel, with peach and lemon pith, chalky minerals, and some grapefruit. A powerful vintage for Roederer.

2013 Roederer Brut Rose Vintage....$75.99
White fruit immediately on the nose, as well as some very strong lemon and lime notes. Some gently chalky notes, too, from the Chouilly chardonnay, which is super chalky. The palate has such focus and drive and a great, mineral core. Very long with a fresh line of acidity and peripheral, smooth flesh. Some pink grapefruit at the finish. Drink or hold.

Glass-staining ruby. Powerful, deeply perfumed aromas of black and blue fruit liqueur, licorice, smoked meat and olive, along with a sexy floral overtone that gains strength as the wine opens up. Stains the palate with deeply concentrated, spice-laced blackberry, boysenberry, violet pastille and fruitcake flavors, while a smoky mineral flourish adds vibrant lift. Chewy tannins shape an extremely long, mineral-driven finish that shows superb power and insistent florality.

Lucien Le Moine Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru

2012 Lucien Le Moine Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru...$399.99
The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is simply celestial. Intensely floral and lifted at first, the Amoureuses fleshes out beautifully with layer after layer of pure flavor. Sweet, succulent dark cherries, flowers, mint and white pepper take on attractive, saline-inflected dimensions of brightness. The tannins are present, but they are silky and suave throughout. in 2012, the Amoureuses is simply a model of restrained elegance. -- Antonio Galloni

Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

1 bottle of each vintage available

2013 Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche Grand Cru...$349.99
The 2013 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, which is raised in one-third new oak and includes 20% stems, has a slightly sultry nose at first and demands encouragement, reluctantly revealing scents of blackberry, briary and granite. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and very well-judged acidity. This feels much more composed on the palate than on the nose at the moment, but there is wonderful length and the new oak is seamlessly integrated. Not quite up there with the ethereal 2012, but still this represents a worthy follow-up.
Rated 94-96/100 The Wine Advocate

2014 Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche Grand Cru...$359.99
The 2014 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a very refined bouquet that takes time to open, but it is worth the wait: blackberry, dried blood, limestone and a faint marine influence (perhaps oyster shell) -- all wonderfully delineated and controlled. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite compact and dense at the moment, as well as very linear and precise; it is long in the mouth but not wishing to play around at the moment. Perhaps keeping its exuberance for later? This is an enigmatic Clos de la Roche this year from Lignier.
Rated 93-95/100 The Wine Advocate
The 2014 Clos de la Roche is bright, focused and finely cut. Translucent and wiry in style, the 2014 speaks to precision above all else. The flavors and textures are wonderfully chiseled throughout. Red-toned fruits, chalk and floral notes abound. Today, the 2014 is fabulous. It won’t be ready to drink anytime soon, but it is terrific just the same. This is a textbook expression of Clos de la Roche.

2016 Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche Grand Cru...$425.00
The 2016 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is matured in 30% new oak with up to 30% whole cluster fruit, two-thirds from Montluisants and one-third Fremiers. It has an intoxicating bouquet that is extraordinarily complex: shimmering red berry fruit, blood orange, incense and a touch of crushed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, wonderful depth and harmony, laser-like focus toward the finish that lingers in the mouth. Stunning mineralité here—the tongue feels as if it licked limestone 30 second after the wine has disappeared. If there is a better Clos de la Roche then I have not tasted it (yet).
Rated 97-99/100 The Wine Advocate
The 2016 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has scintillating, ebullient red berry fruit on the nose that just explodes from the glass. This wants to make an impression - and it does with heavenly crushed violet scents billowing with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with vibrant red fruit, superb mineralité, so much tension and intensity with a finish that lingers for over 45 seconds. This Clos de la Roche is clearly going to be one of the finest wines of the vintage. Tasted at the Domaine.

2013 Hubert Lignier Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru

1 bottle left
2013 Hubert Lignier Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru...$299.99
The 2013 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, which comes from the Mazoyères sector, has a very well-defined and quite intense bouquet with live-wire red cherry and strawberry preserve underpinned by zingy citrus fruits. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and plenty of sorbet-fresh red fruit that build toward a composed but energetic finish. No, not quite as thrilling as the 2012 tasted alongside, but surely one of the finest examples of this vineyard.

The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuesselots was found to have offered particularly small grapes according to Jean-Nicolas. It has a lovely vivacious bouquet with scents of undergrowth infusing the dark berry, autumnal fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with well-integrated oak, great depth of fruit with a sensual finish that is long and tense. This is very engaging even at this early stage.

Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes

2016 Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes....$269.99 / 375ml
A very classic Yquem. Breathtakingly wide spectrum of floral honey, exotic fruit (passion fruit, mango and pineapple), caramel and marzipan aromas. But none of this is a jot too much. In fact, the wine is extremely precise and finely nuanced. Wonderful freshness and textural complexity, in spite of the considerable concentration and extravagance. Very suave and sensual finish that goes on and on. Drink or hold.
Rated 99/100 James Suckling
Containing 135 grams per liter of residual sugar, the pale lemon-gold colored 2016 d'Yquem leaps from the glass with honeyed apricots, pineapple, green mango, crushed rocks, candied ginger, coriander seed and citrus peel with hints of orange blossom. The palate is very tightly wound, vibrant and refreshing with layer upon layer of minerals and spices, finishing with epic poise and persistence.

BLEND OF STRAIGHTS
  1. Barrell Bourbon Batch 26
  2. Barrell Bourbon Batch 25

Barrell Bourbon Batch 026....$74.99

Barrell Bourbon Batch 026 was created by combining 9, 10, 11, 13 and 15-year-old barrels in several blending steps. The first was a fusion of 9-year-old high rye barrels peppery and pointed on the palate, 10-year-old oak forward barrels, and sweet, toasty 11-year-old barrels for mouthfeel and classic baking spice notes. The second balanced citrus forward 10, 12 and 15-year-old barrels with spicy, floral 9-year-old high rye barrels. These two blends were gradually co-mingled resulting in an intriguing bourbon that dances between fruit and spice long into its finish

  • A blend of straight Bourbon Whiskeys
  • Distilled and aged in Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana
  • Selection of 9, 10, 11, 13, and 15-year-old barrels

2018 Comte de Vogue

2018 Comte de Vogue Bonnes Mares Grand Cru....$599.99 / 750ml
2018 Comte de Vogue Bonnes Mares Grand Cru....$1,199.99 / 1.5 liter

The 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is a limpid deep purple. It has a heavenly bouquet distantly related to the Les Amoureuses, offering precocious but detailed blueberry, black cherry, crushed iris petal and crushed limestone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with an edgy, marine-influenced opening, a tang of shucked oyster shells infusing the black and blueberry fruit, leading to a detailed, tensile, lightly spiced finish. A long tail of white pepper lingers on the aftertaste. This is absolutely divine.
Rated 96-98/100 Vinous Media
This is very deeply colored, in fact so much so that it would make a young port blush! The ripe aromas of red and blue berries, spice and earth display a mentholated top note. The dense, powerful and mouthcoating broad-shouldered flavors possess evident muscularity while delivering excellent length on the youthfully austere finale. This isn't refined, indeed it's borderline rustic, but it's a dramatic and impressive wine that should live for decades.
Rated 92-94/100 Burghound

2018 Comte de Vogue Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru....$750.00 / 750ml
The 2018 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is even darker than the Bonnes-Mares. It has a spectacular bouquet of intense black fruit, blueberries and shucked oyster shells, the mineralité heightened over the Bonnes-Mares and lending a great deal of precision. The palate is medium-bodied with blueberry, boysenberry and black currant fruit, extraordinary tension, razor-sharp acidity and a dash of white pepper on the crystalline finish. One of the finest Musignys I have tasted from barrel at de Vogüé.
Rated 97-99/100 Vinous Media
A ripe and super-fresh nose offers up notes of black raspberry, plum liqueur, Asian-style tea and a whiff of incense. The racy, intense and mineral-driven big-bodied flavors retain outstanding delineation as well as an abundance of palate soaking dry extract before delivering stunningly good length. This incredibly powerful effort is both classy and highly complex and like the Bonnes Mares, is a wine that will live for decades. With that said, it's not so backward and compact to preclude it being approachable after only 10 to 12 years.

Domaine Hautes Glaces Single Malt Whisky Cask #79

Domaine Hautes Glaces Single Malt Whisky Cask #79...$79.99
100% Organic Rye
53.1% ABV
Product of France
Distillation happens in a wood-fired copper pot still and each small batch is aged differently depending on from where the grains were sourced on the property. The Rye is 100% malted in house and for Cask #79 the aging occurs in a 100 year old 600L barrel that had been used alternately for Vin Jaune and Macvin du Jura. The Rye distillate ages for four and a half years in this ancient barrel and is then bottled at 53.1% ABV with no coloring, no additives, and no chill-filtration.
The Domaine's single malts are all designed and produced "from the ground to the whiskey", and on this path, each of our choices is determined by our vision of the terroir: by relying on a reinterpretation of local know-how, we seek to create single malt that magnify all the richness and aromatic character of the cereals of our mountains. We work different cereals, the traditional cereal barley of Scottish whiskey, and rye, used in North America (Rye whiskey). These cereals, grown in organic agriculture by the estate's associates, are then processed, brewed and then double distilled in our small iron stills. The distillates are then worked white or put in French oak barrels and kept in the privacy of our cellars so that they round off, thicken, become more complex and walk quietly towards the best of themselves.

Reviews:  95.5/100 – Jim Murray’s 2017 Whisky Bible
“The nose will give any rye lover a serious hard on, as the effect of the grain is entirely maxed out, leaving the sugars to fill in the cracks only. The delivery, likewise, is so full of that grain’s unique fruity character, one can only swoon. Brilliant!”
Gold Medal 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition

Rock Town Hickory Smoked Whiskey...$37.99
Hickory Smoked Whiskey is distilled from Arkansas Soft Red Winter Wheat – aged in ex-Bourbon casks – with a nice light smokey taste from real Hickory.  We took American whiskey distilling techniques and melded it with Scotch whiskey aging techniques to make something pretty special, Arkansas Hickory Smoked Whiskey.  We cold smoke the wheat in our custom built hickory smoker here at the distillery, prior to milling. This infuses smoke into the grain and the flavor of the hickory carries all the way through to the distillate. As with all our whiskies, our Hickory Smoked Whiskey is made from grain to glass here at the distillery in Little Rock. We’re makers not fakers.
Tasting notes:
90/100 – 2014 Ultimate Spirits Challenge
Bright fragrances of peach nectar, smoked meat, hickory and teaberry leaves. In the mouth a gentle smokiness gives way to alluring brown sugar and ripe peach flavors. The finish lingers on the palate offering woodsy characteristics.

Rock Town Flavor Grain Series Sorghum Whiskey...$46.99
46%ABV
Bourbon is usually made with rye or wheat as the flavor grain, but we decided to try to see what contributions other grains would have and started our flavor grain series. Each bourbon was mashed and aged exactly the same with only one difference, the middle grain, the small grain or what we call “the flavor grain”. The whiskeys were made without corn, so they’re not bourbons, each with its own distinct flavor profile.
