Side Project Derivation #1 and #2

UPDATE:  Purchases through Wednesday June 10 at 7pm will count towards Derivation release.  That is the cutoff date.

Friday will be the release date!

This way everyone can relax and not worry about it anymore.

Remember all reservations must be picked up and paid for to count towards your BRC

The bottle price will be $35 per bottle.

Don't forget, those that supported on Beer Fest Day, I will be adding your double points into the totals when I do the final report.   Double points will go for this release and the next Side Project Release

As you know, we are going to release the Side Project Brewing Derivation #1 through our BRC soon.

But surprise, Cory and Karen have been super generous and are giving us a 24 bottle allocation of Derivation #2 !!!

So the top 22 on the BRC list will get a bottle of both #1 and #2

I will save 2 bottles of Derivation #2 for something special.  Not sure what that is yet, but will probably share at a tasting or something.  Will announce that when we decide.

See the details on #1 below, #2 is a two barrel blend with vanilla added!

This will be the next Side Project Brewing collaboration with The Wine and Cheese Place release.

It is a four barrel blend that will be sold partly at The Wine and Cheese Place BRC program  and partly through Side Project Brewing (follow them on twitter to find out how). Bottle numbers not confirmed yet. The beer is bottled and waiting for label approval now. Just waiting on red tape now.

how do we reserve? online store searches don't yield anything and there are no buttons I can find on this page which will let me reserve something before the mentioned deadline... halp!

You cant reserve any, they are allocating based on the Beer Rewards Club. They will send you an email if you are a winner.

Their club is a scam to get people to buy from their store. The more you buy the better chance you have to "win". They hold beers like this hostage and make other sought after beers as prizes. It gets spun as "rewarding" frequent customers. But since you aren't guaranteed to "win" and really have no way of knowing if any of it is legit, it's a very expensive gamble. It's a sad way to take advantage of customers and I have no idea why Cory/Karen think this is a good thing. But hey what do I know.

Not sure where your thoughts are coming from. How could it not be legit. It is all black and white? Numbers don't lie, I print the report and go down the list in order. There is no gray area of playing god and deciding who is worthy. Of course, there is no guarantee that you will get a bottle, but the odds are better than the lottery. It all depends on the other people that are members of the BRC. I have always been open about the system. We now have 1200 members and with 240 bottles of Derivation, that means you have 20% of the people on the list will get a bottle. It is no way taking advantage of customers, they no what they are getting into. We do not ask customers to spend more, it of course is a by product for some people (they are buying beers they want and beers they intend to drink because they want to get the Derivation, so not really a bad thing). We are not asking for them to give us $20 and maybe they will get a bottle, they are buying beer that they will enjoy. Since we started the BRC, we did not see a spike in beer sales. Our sales continued on their normal course. Which means some people probably bought more, but I know it means some people got frustrated with the system and moved on, an unfortunate result. There is no perfect system as I have said many times. We are doing our best to support people that shop at the store which is what any company must do to stay in business. More competition keeps coming and the pie stays the same size.
Real question - how would you do it? Just put the Derivation out for everyone to come and get it. When do you do that? some people will be at work, some out of town. Some of these people shop all the time at our store but cannot make the release date? A bunch of people that never shop at our store race and get the Derivation and never to be seen again? A bunch of regulars that are in the store weekly get shut out because they could not make it to the release date. There is no solution when thousands and thousands of people are trying to get a beer where there is only 240 bottles (or only 24 of Derivation #2). I do take an exception to saying you think this is a scam and that we are taking advantage of people. We were only going to release 22 of the 24 bottles of Derivaton #2 and save 2 bottles for a tasting or something special (this I posted, so it is no surprise). After printing the report, #23 and #24 less where than $10 short of getting a bottle. I decided this morning I was going to let all 24 bottles go because I felt they deserved them and felt bad they would have missed them for being so close. There was a much better break after that, #25 was about $50 off, still not a lot, but more than a 6 pack away.
We have been in business for over 34 years and I have been here for 28 of them, we would not survive this long if we were scamming customers, I am always straight up honest with customers and always answer them honestly.
Again 24 bottles of Derivation #2 - most people will not get a bottle, that is the fact. What is the best way to do this. Regulars at the store deserve the bottles, this is the only way to track it.
Sorry you have a negative view of the BRC program, but at this point it seems to be the fairest method.
