Expert Rum Tasting (and a little chocolate) with Benjamin Miller!
Benjamin is endlessly informative about the entire rum world. I asked him 3 minutes into our first conversation if he would do this for us. This will be a GREAT, informative tasting providing an overview of the major rum producing countries and breaking down the differences between sugar cane and molasses production.

Originally reserved for the Barbancourt family and their friends, today its incomparable flavor has become a veritable institution in the world of connoisseurs. Unlike industrial rum made from the fermentation of molasses, a by-product of the production of cane sugar, Rhum Barbancourt is an agricultural rum, rum made from fermented sugar cane juice. Rhum Barbancourt is aged in Limousin oak barrels in the Domaine's chais, and it is in these oak barrels that Rhum Barbancourt expresses its unique flavor and bouquet; a subtle blending of Haiti's sun and soil.

A dark golden rum, distilled from molasses in a copper pot still before 12 years of aging. Crafted from a variety of copper pot distilled rums that have been individually aged in white oak barrels... this is an unctuous, weighty rum with full flavors and aromas of dark fruit, baking spice, and brown sugar. Produced in Venezuela, which has a rich rum history dating to 1896, the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva distillery is located on the northern slopes of the Andes mountains.
