Zoom Tasting featuring Sweden’s High Coast Distillery

These are very exciting, a great way to taste all 4 and talk to an expert at the same time!

Zoom Tasting featuring Sweden’s High Coast Distillery
Thursday, March 31st --
7pm-8:15pm

$35.00 per set Only 14 spots available

Set includes 4 - 50ml, samples (each 50ml enough for 2 drams) tasting zoom key, and a zipped bag of our house-roasted mixed nuts
The set comes individually labeled in a tamper evident sealed box

Single malts are made all around the world with Sweden becoming an up and comer in the whiskey world. Luke Tullos, National Sales Director at importer LHK Spirits Group will be waxing poetic about the High Coast distillery and whiskey in general. This event will be illuminating and damn tasty as well. Below is the menu for the evening…

  • High Coast Sixty Three Single Malt Whisky
  • High Coast Hav Oak Spice Single Malt Whisky
  • High Coast Berg Spanish Oak Single Malt Whisky
  • High Coast Timmer Peat Smoke Single Malt Whisky

More info about them

High Coast Sixty Three Single Malt Whisky...$109.99
Situated at 63° N, High Coast Distillery is one of the world’s most northern whisky distilleries. Exactly where the 63rd parallel cuts through warehouse No.3 we have matured this unique, heavily peated whisky for 63 months.
63 consists of 100 % peated whisky (63 ppm) matured in 63 liter bourbon casks, for 63 months, 63 decimeters above the ground.
63 is bottled at 63 % ABV. In 63 our distillery manager Roger Melander really set the light on the number 63 and has created a fantastic whisky, smooth and with a long peaty character.

High Coast Hav Oak Spice Single Malt Whisky...$53.99
Hav is the Swedish word for Sea.
In the majestic landscape of a world heritage site, High Coast Distillery sits where the beautiful river Ångermanälven merges into the sea. Here, the river is just about to reach the coast and slowly disappear out into the world, just like our single malt whisky.
The message Hav brings to the world is an expression of oak, with a touch of spice and a little northern hardiness.

High Coast Berg Spanish Oak Single Malt Whisky...$61.99
BERG – is a sherry matured whisky which has the same natural colour as the Nordingrå granite which can be seen protruding the dramatic landscape of the High Coast. The casks have previously held the flavoursome Pedro Ximénez sherry.
“Berg” is the swedish word for mountain, a tribute to the Nordingrå granite which can be seen protruding the dramatic landscape of the High Coast.

High Coast Timmer Peat Smoke Single Malt Whisky...$61.99
Peated single malt whisky matured in first fill Bourbon barrels.
Timmer is our peated whisky, our humble tribute to the men and women who once lived and worked here. Those who risked their lives fighting icy cold waters as they steered the heavy logs downstream and kept warm by burning fires under the pale moonlight.

Cocktail Class with Chris LeBeau of The Manhattan Cocktail Project
Saturday, January 25 2020
3:30 PM - 5:30 PM

The Wine and Cheese Place
7435 Forsyth Blvd, Clayton MO

$40 per person

First class sold out quick!!

Cocktail Class with Chris LeBeau of The Manhattan Cocktail Project
Making or ordering a cocktail can feel overwhelming. With a seemingly endless array of ingredients, equipment and glassware, accompanied by the industry constantly churning out new things, curious imbibers can feel at a loss of where to start.

In this class Chris LeBeau of The Manhattan Cocktail Project  will teach you how to make 4 fundamental (and simple) cocktails that have inspired countless others: daiquiri, manhattan, old fashioned and margarita. Then try variations of each to understand you own taste profile. By the end, you will feel more confident about making your own drinks, entertaining and tackling a cocktail menu when out on the town.

About The Manhattan Cocktail Project (from Chris):
Spirit and cocktail options are exploding. With so much energy being dedicated to recipe and product creation, little is focused on helping patrons and home bartenders keep up. As a home bartender and cocktail enthusiast, I created The Manhattan Cocktail Project to help people like you find greater comfort with the basics by:

Teaching you a few simple formulas that have inspired countless cocktails
Allowing you to make these cocktails to gain confidence in your ability
Allowing you to taste cocktails side-by-side, which is often done with wine and whiskey but rarely, if ever, with cocktails
This is the program I wish I had when my journey began in 2010. When you feel more confident ordering, tasting, making and conversing about your drink, your enjoyment (and hopefully exploration) will go up.

Wednesday, October 30th
6pm-8pm
We will taste 6 compass box whiskeys....

This is a great opportunity to taste a 2 of their very rare releases and 4 from their "classic" selections
  1. Compass Box The Circle ($144.99) **
  2. Compass Box Affinity ($125.99)  **
  3. Compass Box Peat Monster
  4. Compass Box Hedonism
  5. Compass Box Spaniard
  6. Compass Box Oak Cross
** we only have 1 bottle left of these two, none will be for sale that night.  We just wanted to share some limited whiskey with more friends of the store!

Some info about the two limited releases
Compass Box The Circle
The Circle is based around a parcel of fruity and creamy single malt from the Tamdhu Distillery in Speyside. This is supported by malt whisky from the Clynelish Distillery. A touch of peated malt whisky from an Orkney distillery and a small proportion of a French oak-finished blended malt whisky complete the recipe.

Compass Box Affinity
We have been blending Calvados with Scotch whisky at home and in our blending room for years. The flavour combination is classic: apples and spice riffing off dried fruits and vanilla. When we were able to source Calvados of the right quality, and in enough quantities, we decided to share our private experiments with the world.
