Granddaughter of Paul Pernot, Alvina Pernot is a young vigneron born and raised in Puligny-Montrachet. In 2018, Alvina and her husband Phillipe Abadie created their own label. She sources fruit from some incredible vineyards, and is a name to watch – known for her taut and mineral styles of white Burgundy. Production size of these wines is tiny, and the amount that makes it to Missouri is miniscule. If you are a Burgundy lover and want to try a new and exciting producer, pick up a bottle today! Combines traditional Burgundian techniques with a modern approach, emphasizing the expression of terroir. Grapes are hand-picked and sorted, gently pressed, and fermented in French oak barrels. The wines undergo a light filtration before bottling, with minimal use of new oak to preserve the wine's character.Alvina uses a balanced approach to pest control, with no chemical herbicides and a focus on soil health.
The "Clos de la Garenne" is showcases the classic Puligny-Montrachet profile with nuanced fruit, minerality, and a well-integrated oak influence. The wines are a touch less forthcoming than her family’s domaine style.

This is one of the highest-altitude sites in Alvina Pernot’s range, just below the Hameau de Blagny, overlooking Puligny and Meursault. With a sunnier exposition, it feels riper than Clos de la Jacquelotte, yet offers more floral rather than citrus tones. The palate is similarly rich, building towards an explosive finish – sumptuous with such concentration. Four barrels were made and no new oak was used on the wine. The 2022 labels are one-offs, including a dedication to their son Pâris, who was born on 1st January 2022.

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru is more backwards on the nose than the Les Caillerets, crushed limestone mingling with Alpine stream and cooking apples. The palate is well-balanced with plenty of concentration. Light tropical brushstrokes of apricot and passion fruit lead to a spicy and prolonged finish. It's one of those wines whose charms creep up on you the more you drink it.

Chinato takes its name from China also known as cinchona, the native South American tree from which quinine is extracted from the bark. The drink's bitterness is derived from the cinchona bark. The bark of this tree is one of the principal flavourings of Barolo Chinato, along with gentian root, camomile, cardamom and clove.  Even the best vermouths are usually made with a basic, cheap white wine. Barolo Chinato does not use cheap wine, its base is certified DOCG Barolo wine. Barolo Chinato is a flavored wine, not fortified: this means that most alcohol content and sweetness are due to herbal and spice infusions in alcohol and together with the sugar added to the Barolo.  Dr. Giuseppe Cappellano, a pharmacist by trade, developed the first Chinato, taking vintage Barolo and adding herbs and spices steeped in alcohol back in the late 1800s—literally as a digestive aid and stomach-settling concoction. Each Barolo house has its own secret recipe of herbs and spices.  Serve chilled after dinner in a wine glass (great with chocolate desserts). Some also serve warmed with orange zest. Keep opened bottles in the refrigerator for up to a month.

It’s a question often asked in the outside world: What kind of tequila do those who ‘know’ drink in Mexico?

For generations, the answer has only been known to a select group of Mexico’s most respected families and Los Bajos’ finest jimadors – they are the fortunate few who have had the privilege of tasting El Tequila Privado, a private recipe from a little distillery in Amatitán. With no commercial pressure to ever bring this private tequila to market, a small group of Mexican families had heartily supported it. For several generations, a local Amatitán artisan and distilling family has passionately produced this spirit, never veering from the centuries old codes and customs – “Los Códigos” – that have made it the most selective tequila in the world.

Código 1530 proudly bears the Jerusalem Cross as the symbol of its heritage story. This iconic cross sits atop the Jalisco Coat of Arms and dates back to 1530 when after colonial struggle, Amatitán was officially recognized as a city of New Galicia and Jalisco was given a coat of arms by the Spanish monarchy, which was anchored by the Jerusalem Cross. Código 1530’s name honors “Los Códigos,” the old world codes and customs that shaped and still live on in Amatitán and the Los Bajos region to this day. These values are at the core of the proud families who served this tequila in their homes, and the artisan distilling family who has been the custodian of this private tequila for generations.
