Inspired by the spirit of intensity and pride that shines through a Lagavulin history more than 200 years long, our Malt Master explores the famed symbols of the ancient Mesoamerican art of tattoo, rich in story and significance. The whisky, finished in Don Julio Añejo tequila casks, pulses with herbal flavours ancient and modern, engraving an indelible story. Amid fierce glints of gold, fresh notes of sea air, citrus and ripened berries mingle with intense herbal smoke in an enchanted swirl of heady aromas, while the creamy-smooth and robust texture plays the perfect canvas to a rich palette of swirling flavours. It is an elegant and lifted expression of the Shea Vineyard, with bright acidity, fine tannins, and a more linear feel, and as it opens, it starts to show its broader shoulders and its deeper notes come through. A passionate, full-on Californian Zinfandel from Lodi. Aged in American and French oak for 18 months, it showcases a pronounced bouquet of red and dark berry fruits and sweet coconut. Great purity and concentration on the palate, featuring wood-spiced blackberry and figs, hinted with more coconut, clove and Christmas spices. This most special production is made with the most ancient, painstaking methods common to early distillers, and is more akin to traditional mezcal than present-day tequila.

Ancestral practice is to fire wooden coals at the base of a pit, cover them with agave fibers, pile on raw agave, cover with leaves and fabric, and then bury the entire mound. After five or so days, when the trapped heat has roasted the agave, it’s all dug up and the agaves are macerated and fermented

Oktoberfest is a fall seasonal beer by design: a slow-fermented, relatively strong amber lager brewed and cellared each year in advance of the world's biggest beer festival. In true form, we brew ours annually for our big anniversary party. Though our turnout is a bit smaller than the Munich Oktoberfest (6 million people!), this remains our fastest selling beer. Brewed in strict accordance with the Reinheitsgebot with authentically German barley malt, hops, and yeast. Clean and classic. Rich malts but not too sweet, grainy, a little nutty and toasty, balanced bitterness from flowery German hops. Only six breweries are allowed to supply the Oktoberfest München. The organizers approached us this year about becoming #7, but we turned them down because we're saving the rest for you (well, that very last part is true, so come and get it!)

For the uninitiated, krausening involves taking fresh yeast from an actively fermenting beer and adding it to a mostly fermented one to healthily finish the process, and further aid in conditioning, plus the removal of unwanted fermentation byproducts.
