Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon

Great Cabernet!

Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon...$59.99
Compare to $69.97 at Total Wine and More

The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon has been our flagship wine for more than three decades. It is a benchmark for the long-lived hillside wines of the Napa Valley; full of structure and aging potential, yet seductively forward in its concentrated varietal character. The dry, rocky soils of Pritchard Hill produce small, intensely flavorful grapes. Crop thinning allows for full, even ripening, and elevates flavor complexity.
Rated 93+/100 The Wine Advocate
Lots of blackcurrant and blueberry with violet and boysenberry. Some chocolate, too. Full-bodied with lightly dusty tannins that give a special texture and beauty to the wine. Flavorful and intense at the finish. Better after 2023.
Rated 93/100 James Suckling

Wine Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 5% Malbec
Winemaker Notes: Rich, dark and concentrated, this wine displays luxurious aromas of crème de cassis, plum, ripe berries, anise and fresh herbs, as well as hints of vanilla, clove, dark chocolate and sweet spices from aging in French oak. On the lush, layered palate, supple fine-grained tannins frame the dark berry and black plum flavors, with hints of cedar, espresso and tobacco leaf adding sophistication to a long, voluptuous finish.

Kendall-Jackson 2019 Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay

Wow!  What a score for this classic Chardonnay!
"KJ" has been the standard for decades!

2019 Kendall-Jackson 2019 Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay...$10.88
Editors' Choice
Concentrated and creamy but not overly showy, this wine is balanced, restrained and layered. It meshes an apple-tart flavor with subtle vanilla and nutmeg nuances while underlying acidity achieves excellent balance.

California Penfolds!!!

Bin 704 is the northern hemisphere version of the classic Bin 407

2018 Penfolds Bin 704 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley....$65.99
Compare to $69.99 at Total Wine and More
This is the first vintage of the Australian producer’s foray into Napa Valley. It is tightly structured yet supple, bursting in bright currant and strawberry flavors. Savory components of sage, dried herb and black pepper dot the palate alongside silky tannins and chocolate-laced richness. A fresh touch of blood orange arises on the finish. Enjoy from 2028 – 2033.
Rated 96/100 Wine Enthusiast
A beautiful, aromatic wine with blackcurrant, cool fruit and hints of minerals and tar. Full-bodied, yet polished and really well manicured. Long and creamy. Shows tension, energy and refinement. Drink after 2024, but so beautiful already. Hard not to drink.
Rated 95/100 James Suckling
Bright and vibrant in the glass with deep, dark aromas of black plum grasped in a tight-fisted blackberry glove. While the body is fashionably lean, the initially tight flavors relax to a plush embrace. More is revealed as the wine opens up in the mouth: sumptuous fruit that remains firm and politely behaved, a chew of tobacco and deliberate oak tannins that bite in the tail.
Rated 95/100 Decanter
Streamlined and showing dusty tannins, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Napa Valley, with a winemaking signature that’s 100% Penfolds. Aged 16 months in 100% French oak, it shows a sleek mouthfeel in which lavender and peony converge with plum skin and jasmine. A few extra days of skin contact allow beefy, concentrated notes of cherry liqueur and dark chocolate to surface. Marked by spiced cedar, the finish is a satisfying immersion of power and elegance.
Rated 96/100 Sommelier Journal

2018 Penfolds Bin 600 Cabernet Shiraz California...$46.99
compare to $49.99 at Total Wine and More
A very fine and polished red with cherry, berry, chocolate and cedar aromas and flavors. Some spice and meat with hints of tea leaf. Some ash, too. Medium body and extremely refined texture, showing real balance and elegance. The tannins spread across the palate in a beautiful way. 78% cabernet sauvignon and 22% shiraz. Drink or hold.
Rated 93/100 James Suckling
This is a blend of 78% Napa Valley and Sonoma-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Shiraz from Paso Robles. IT is a smooth and earthy wine that offers flavors of leather, earth, iron and crushed rock cut against herbal accents.
Rated 93/100 Wine Enthusiast
This multiregional California blend contains fruit from Napa, Sonoma, and the winery’s own Camatta Hills property, planted to cuttings from its Kalimna and Magill estates in South Australia; located in Paso Robles’ Creston District, it was originally called Creston 600 Ranch, and the wine was named Bin 600 in its honor. With its rolling hills, large diurnal temperature swings, and clay-loam and calcareous soils, the terroir is reminiscent of the Barossa Valley, and it shows in the wine’s herb-kissed depth of blackberry and plum, which morphs into a rare–roast beef meatiness. Sparked by salinity, caperberry and olive tapenade come into play. A streak of chocolate-almond croissant provides voluminous softness while sweetening the savory elements
Rated 94/100 The Sommelier Journal

2018 Penfolds Bin 149 Cabernet Cabernet Sauvignon...$142.99
Compare to $149.99 at Total Wine and More
  • 85.1% American Wine
  • 14.9% Australian Wine
Lots of blackberry, currant, light chocolate and hazelnut. This is rather dense and plush, but shows impressive layers of tannins that have a rough-velvet texture. Juicy and intense fruit. The grapes come from the AVAs of Rutherford, Calistoga, Oakville and then spread across Napa. 14.9% comes from South Australia. A global wine. In the end, it’s nicely toned and curated. Needs three or four years to come together. Try after 2025.
Rated 97/100 James Suckling

A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, combining 85.1% fruit from the Napa Valley (predominantly from Oakville, Rutherford and Calistoga AVAs) and the remainder from several of Penfolds’ South Australian vineyards, moving it beyond the expected Napa Cab expression to instead exert its own unique personality. The Australian component introduces rich, lifted aromas of blueberry and blackberry, and a more opulent fruit presence. It adds freshness and vibrancy to the dense Napa body, resulting in a vivacious, cheery red still bound by firm tannins.
Rated 96/100 Decanter

A good portion, 85.1%, of this "Wine of the World" comes from America. In fact, the American component all comes from Napa. "There are some great vineyards going in here," Peter Gago informed me. "We are buying some fruit for this, but most of it comes off our own vineyards." By "own vineyards," Gago refers to the considerable land holdings of Treasury Wine Estates, which now owns such iconic Napa names such as Beringer, Sterling Vineyards and Stags’ Leap Winery. The major component of this component, 28%, comes from Rutherford, with the other components "cherry picked" from across the Napa region. So, that is the American wine part of this wine.
Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate
The combination of Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in Napa Valley and South Australia is an extension of Penfolds’ house style and has been christened with the unique term “Wine of the World.” Maturation for 16 months in new French (80%) and new American (20%) oak further adds to its globe-spanning distinction. A phantom of a wine, with a feminine sort of reined-in power and tension, it delivers both sweetness and a sassy, savory, keen sensation of sage on cocoa along with woodsy tones. The palpable dark fruit acts like drapes parting on the dynamic stage, revealing statuesque glamour.

Penfolds Riesling Eden Valley Bin 51

2016 Penfolds Riesling Eden Valley Bin 51...$39.99
Very strong floral character on the nose — typical of Eden Valley — with lemon blossom and white-rose perfumes; the aromas are engaging and ever so pretty. The palate, meanwhile, has a succulent, tangy and elegant feel to it. Fresh pear and apple flavors sing out in a chalky textural setting, the acidity is servile, and this holds pure and even, all the way to the balanced, lemon-citrus finish. Drink now or hold until 2022 for some smoother, aged character.
Rated 94/100 Jeb Dunnuck

2017 Penfolds Riesling Eden Valley Bin 51...$39.99
An expressive and ripe wine that moves through citrus and into peach/nectarine stone fruits, sweet-smelling jasmine-like florals and background minerals. The palate has a smoothly rendered, concentrated and fleshy feel to it, deeply ripe kumquat and mandarin fruit flavors, and plenty of weight. Drink now
Rated 92/100 James Suckling

2018 Penfolds Riesling Eden Valley Bin 51...$39.99
Super tight and flinty aromas with a burst of lime and pithy grapefruit and plenty of spicy spark. The palate is taut and succulent, showing slightly chalky texture and lime, apple and green-pear flavors, delivered with power through the finish. Prominent acidity. Drink now, but better as a 5 to 6-year-old wine.
Rated 93/100 James Suckling
Classic lime sherbet notes mark the nose of the 2018 Riesling Bin 51. It's leafy and fresh, then folds in hints of riper fruit on the palate, such as peach and pear. Crushed stone and wet moss give it a firm grounding in the earth as well. Crisp, lean and long, it shimmers with positive sunshine and energy, vibrant and lingering on the finish.
Rated 92/100 The Wine Advocate
The light gold colored 2018 Riesling Bin 51 is another high-quality white that has both freshness and richness. Honeyed lime, orange blossom, and wet stone-like notes all give way to a medium-bodied Riesling that has plenty of heft and richness in its fruit that’s balanced beautifully by its racy acidity. Clean, crisp, and dry on the finish, it’s going to sing on the dinner table and should have a long life as well.

Derrumbes Mezcal San Luis Potosi

Derrumbes Mezcal San Luis Potosi...$35.99
Derrumbes San Luis Potosí is an incredible example of a very particular style of mezcal crafted in the high altitude Central Mexican Plateau, in the state of San Luis Potosí.
Made from the region's wild agave Salmiana, it gives the mezcal a unique, vibrant flavour. Despite its abundance, this agave has a very low yield, needing up to four times as much to create an equal amount of spirit when compared to the blue agave used in the tequila region. Grown in calcareous soils, this mezcal terrifically showcases its terroir characteristics, with chalky notes very evident in the flavour profile.

Produced in an old traditional hacienda, above ground ovens known as hornos are used to cook the agave which mean their mezcal is not smoky. Once cooked, the agave is crushed by a tahona, fermented naturally with wild yeast, twice-distilled in small copper pot stills.
