Hundred Acre Ancient Way Summer's Block Shiraz

2009 Hundred Acre Ancient Way Summer's Block Shiraz...$238.99
we are the lowest price on Wine-Searcher
2 bottles available

Dark purple. Deeply pitched black and blue fruit compote, singed plum, cola and mocha scents are complemented by notes of violet pastille and licorice. Broad, palate-coating blackberry liqueur and fruitcake flavors show striking depth and a plush, velvety texture. Decadently rich but surprisingly lively, finishing with superb power and thrust and smooth, late-arriving tannins.
Rated 94+/100 Vinous Media
Very deep garnet colored, the 2009 Ancient Way Vineyard Deep Time was in barrel for 60 months and has a pronounced, provocatively scented nose of Christmas cake, plum pudding, Indian spices and incense with suggestions of cardamom, eucalyptus, mocha and peppered salami. Big, rich and full-bodied, the velvety textured palate is bursting with black berry preserves, raisin cake and exotic spices with a refreshing lift on the very long finish.

Meo Camuzet Richebourg Grand Cru

Rare Wine!
10 years old!
2008 Meo Camuzet Richebourg Grand Cru....$999.99
2 bottles in stock now!
Tasting note: A very fresh, expressive, pure and stunningly spicy nose of notably ripe black and purple pinot fruit and a host of subtle Asian spice nuances, including star anise, hoisin and soy that are in keeping with the deep, serious, tautly muscled and mineral-suffused broad shouldered flavors brimming with dry extract that really coats the palate on the vibrant, precise, mineral-driven and hugely long finish that is linear but less austere than usual. An excellent '08 with terrific development potential.
Rated 93-96/100 Allen Meadows, Burghound
Good full red. Wonderfully sappy aromas of raspberry, orange peel, rose petal and flinty, smoky minerality. Compellingly sweet but utterly primary, with terrific energy and definition to the flavors of red fruits and pungent minerals. Perfectly balanced wine; less creamy today than the Brulees but even more sharply delineated. Perhaps most impressive on the explosive rising finish, which shows more fruits and minerals than tannins.

Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale

Classic beer in cans
Now in CANS
Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale...$10.99 / 4pk 14.9oz can
Creamy head, dry; flavors of aromatic hops melded with a hint of nuttiness from dark malts.
The History of Nut Brown Ale
Brown ale is a specialty of the North of England, and a very early beer style - it is mentioned in literature in the 16th century. Judicious amounts of dark malt give brown ales brilliant dark-amber color and deep flavors that stop short of roastiness.
The walnut or hazelnut notes in Nut Brown Ale come from dark malts and from fermentation in Yorkshire Squares - no nuts are used in the recipe! Dry, medium-bodied; the Sam Smith ale yeast strain gives a fruity note to the finish.

Sainte Hilaire Blanquette de Limoux

Sainte Hilaire Blanquette de Limoux...$10.99
This sparkling wine is named for the Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Saint-Hilaire, who invented France's first sparkling wine back in 1531. (Don't confuse it with another sparkling wine from the Loire Valley, also called St.-Hilaire; this is the original, made from the local Mauzac grape.) It is delicate and elegant.
Best Buy , The Wine Enthusiast

What They've Been Saying About SAINT-HILAIRE France's Oldest Sparkling Wine
"It remains one of the world's finest sparkling wines, and it constitutes the highest quality value ration of any sparkling wine in the world."
— International Wine of the Month Club

"I've tried more than 20 wines and the great discovery was the Saint-Hilaire Blanquette de Limoux Brut."
— The Grapevine (New York Post)

"It is probably the least-known well-made sparkling wine of France... Made primarily from the Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Mauzac grapes, the wines are qualitatively close to a high quality non-vintage Champagne at one-third the price."
— Robert Parker

"It's a pleasant and well balanced bubbly, perhaps the best value sparkling wine I've ever seen..."
— Wine Lovers Page

"This is a frisky sparkler with an attractive, yeasty aroma and luscious, creamy texture. It's also a remarkable value."
— The Philadelphia Inquirer

"A pretty and remarkably drinkable sparkler with soft green apple, tangerine oil and faint yellow floral notes accented with hints of lavender."

MILLING & MASHING:  The finest barley is steeped, germinated and gently air dried. Using a traditional roller mill, the malt barley is then turned into a fine grist.

FERMENTATION:  After mashing, the natural fermentation process produces the wash (essentially beer) with over 8% alcohol.

DISTILLATION:  The traditional triple distillation method uses copper pot stills, which create and fine-tune the proper character. After the first distillation, the strength of the spirit is increased through a second distillation with a low wine still. A third distillation in the spirit still, creates a cut above 80% alcohol. This captures the heart of the spirit.

MATURATION:  Our coopers hand-select the finest former bourbon barrels in which to age our proper whiskey. Our spirit slowly ages developing through the years flavours of vanilla, honey and toasted wood.

BLENDING:  The blending of sweet Irish grain spirit and single malt Irish whiskey lies at the heart of Proper No. Twelve. Our Master Distiller selects casks that hold the rich character needed to craft Proper No. Twelve Whiskey.

1792 / TWCP Full Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Our next single barrel of 1792 Full proof

Our 2018 Edition
Barrel No. 2

1792 / TWCP Full Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey....$43.99
125 proof
Bourbon insiders have long acknowledged that full proof bourbon has a distinctively rich flavor. This bourbon underwent a distinct filtering process, forgoing the typical chill filtration, and only passing through a plate and frame filter. This allowed the bourbon to maintain a robust proof for bottling, as well as a full rich and bold flavor. Bottles at its original 125 barrel entry proof, just as it was years ago when the barrels were first filled, 1792 Full Proof Bourbon is exceptionally distinct.

2012 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne

2012 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne....$139.99
A hint of oak lends this a spicy component, along with cherry, licorice and tar flavors. Racy and bright, with fine intensity and a long, tightly wound finish that seems to go on forever. This shows beautiful purity and class. Best from 2020 through 2036. 380 cases imported.
Rated 95/100 The Wine Spectator
Purity of fruit and balance here is very impressive. Firm and very silky tannins with a long, long finish that gives the wine amazing depth and intensity. Love the spicy and dense fruit character at the end of the palate. Drink in 2020.
Rated 95/100 James Suckling
Sandrone’s 2012 Barolo Le Vigne is fresh, delineated and totally inviting. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries, mint, orange peel, chalk and white pepper make a strong first impression. Precise and finely sculpted throughout, Le Vigne has a bit more energy and aromatic presence than the Cannubi Boschis, and a touch better balance.
Rated 94+/100 Antonio Galloni

Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis

Very limited release!
Just starting to hit it's drinking window!  Decant it and enjoy!

2012 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis...$149.99
Shows firm tannins and pretty structure for the vintage. Tight and precise with super polished tannins and a lovely center palate of ripe fruit and earthy undertones. Very, very refined. Classy. Better in 2019.
Rated 96/100 James Suckling
With a core of cherry flavors and assertive tannins, this Barolo is right out of central casting. Accents of mint, tar, tobacco and tea add dimension. The finish is linear and firm. Fine acidity keeps this focused and long. Best from 2020 through 2035. 220 cases imported.
Rated 94/100 The Wine Spectator
The 2012 Barolo Cannubi Boschis is a solid and tighter wine compared to the 2012 Le Vigne. Having said that, it veers close to being too austere and hard-bodied, especially at this young stage of its life. Of Sandrone's two new Barolo releases, this wine definitely needs more time to evolve and soften with extra years of bottle aging. The tannins are more evident and the wine's firm backbone acts to support dark fruit flavors with distant accents of spice, licorice and tobacco. Start drinking in 2018

2017 La Croix Gratiot Picpoul de Pinet

Back in stock!

One of our favorites is back in stock!
2017 La Croix Gratiot Picpoul de Pinet....$11.99
The lithe, light-bodied 2017 Picpoul de Pinet from La Croix Gratiot is a fine accompaniment to raw shellfish or on its own as an aperitif. It offers bright aromas of fresh lime zest and quinine paired with a silky mouthfeel and lingering finish. Try it instead of Muscadet next time you're tempted to down a dozen oysters on the half shell.

2004 Krug Clos Mesnil Blanc de Blanc

The Epitome of Blanc de Blanc Champagne
We have 4 bottles in stock now!

2004 Krug Clos Mesnil Blanc de Blanc....$899.98

Evocative of a Bernini sculpture, this vibrant Champagne is equally about the statuesque frame of acidity and chalky underpinning as it is the finely honed details, including the silken texture, the aromas of lime blossom, saffron and incense, and the expressive, woven range of crème de cassis, ground espresso, kumquat, crystallized honey and toast point flavors. Long and focused, echoing the rich profile on the finish. Drink now through 2034. 1,129 cases made.
Rated 97/100 The Wine Spectator

Aromas of lemon sorbet, chalky notes and white flowers with toasted almonds, backed by a strong, stony mineral thread. Super acidity drive on the palate with a core of pure lemons and grapefruit. Long, smooth-tannin finish. This is both concentrated and elegant. A single location and single variety. Amazing quality here. Drink or hold.
Rated 98/100 James Suckling

The 2004 Clos du Mesnil captures all the pedigree of this epic Blanc des Blancs vintage. A soaring, majestic Champagne, the 2004 dazzles from the very first taste with its crystalline purity and brightness. In two tastings so far, the 2004 has been nothing less than a total showstopper. The vertical structure and pure, tightly-coiled power are the stuff dreams are made of. There is little doubt the 2004 is one of the very finest Clos du Mesnils in recent memory. Will it join the 1979, 1988 and 1996 as one of the all-time greats? Now, that is a tasting I would love to do!

2012 Louis Roederer Champagne Vintage Brut

Glad it made it in time for the New Year!
It has been ordered for awhile

The Perfect Sparkler for the Holidays
We are always looking for bottle of Champagne that hits the sweet spot for the Holidays, a step up from the standard NV Brut but not quite at the Tete de Cuvee price point. Well we found our wine, introducing the 2012 Louis Roederer Brut, a sneak peek of Champagne's next great vintage

2012 Louis Roederer Champagne Vintage Brut....$69.99
Roederer’s white golden 2012 Vintage is a classic Millésime. Based on 70% cool-climate Pinot Noir from Verzy and Verzenay (Montagne de Reims) and 30% Chardonnay from a very warm, south/southwest-facing vineyard in Chouilly (Côte des Blancs), the 2012 represents the mineral terroirs of its origins beautifully—pure, refined and fresh. Fermented 8% in oak and with just 16% of the volume having done malolactic fermentation to make the Roederer Vintage Brut a classic gastronomic wine, the 2012 shows a deep, rich and ripe but also fine, precise and elegant chalky nose with hazelnut, toasted almond and blossom flavors. The palate is profound, round, highly elegant and fresh, and the long, remarkably salty finish is very complex and terribly fresh in its persistent mineral expression. This is an impressive, ripe and almost creamy textured but precise and finessed 2012 with power, body and structure. A true, highly stimulating classic. Just love it! Tasting Report
In a tasting of 20 Champagnes, priced under $40 each, the wine panel was pleasantly surprised by the elegance that we found among our favorites.
1. JOËL FALMET Brut Tradition NV

"So, here it is. If you can afford to spend $30 to $40 a bottle on Champagne, more or less the entry-level price nowadays, you may find yourself with some seriously good wine.
The Falmet Brut Tradition was our top-rated wine. We found it full of lively energy, with complex flavors of flowers, minerals, citrus and herbs, and with more finesse than you generally find in Champagnes dominated by the pinot noir grape." - New York Times

Ornellaia Masseto

2013 Ornellaia Masseto....$549.99
The 2013 Masseto paints a glorious picture of Tuscany. It captures an inspired moment in time and walks an impressive tightrope between power and elegance. In my preview tasting last year, I noticed the firm textural richness of the 2013 vintage and the crystalline sharpness of its aromas. Thanks to 12 additional months of bottle aging, that impression is evermore constant and concrete. The focus is there, yet the wine has also fleshed out and put on more velvety definition especially in terms of mouthfeel. It wears its pedigree with pride, but most importantly it offers the balance and integration to promise a long and healthy aging future. The 2013 vintage follows closely on the heels of the impeccable 2006 and 2010 vintages in terms of cellaring potential. This is definitely a bottle that should interest collectors.

Mosaic Hop Ale Brewed with Mango Juice
The flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing. So, what's at the heart of it? Is it the patient and diligent servant or the committed messenger, through their many routes and vessels? The salient soldier, slinging suds on the front lines daily, or the very brewers themselves? The answer is... we can't tell you here. From seed to sprout to fruit, and back to seed, we're all tangled on the same vine. And while fruit is momentary, the roots hold on for another season. It's all just a matter of perspective...

Cask Finished in Port Barrels
Auchnagie Distillery existed for almost 100 years, starting work as a remote farmhouse distillery and ending its days as, arguably, the jewel in the crown of a global whisky empire. It had at least seven different owners and was silent for large parts of its life. This was not unusual for small-scale 19th century distilleries, as their precarious existence was often at the mercy of lack of water, lack of money, changes to duty laws and local demand for the product.

Frederiksdal Sparkling Cherry and Pear Wine

Frederiksdal Sparkling Cherry and Pear Wine...$31.99
Our sparkling wine fermented on cherries and pear.

The early crispy Stevnsbær cherry is the ideal blend partner for the local pear Lucas variety to go into a cuvée with both lingering freshness and smooth wine character.

The basic blend – called „Cuvée“ – ferments stepwise, according to the fruit specific optimum picking time on its own yeast from the orchard. The ’Cuvée’ is a blend of 60% Stevnsbær cherry and 40% Lucas pear.

After natural clarification by gravity the wine goes into the process of the second fermentation to create the bubbles and the character of a sparkling wine.

After After a second fermentation in tank – called „méthode, charmat“ – the wine gains 4,0 bar of pressure and rests
for a period of approx. 3 months on the yeast. During this time the sparkling wine aroma develops to its
desired complexity of a ”fruit sparkling“ wine
