Walnut River Brewing

Walnut River Brewing Irish Red Warbread...$10.99 / 6pk 12oz cans
If it isn’t already, Warbeard will soon be your favorite Irish Red. With caramel and toffee-like sweetness on the first taste, it slowly fades into a slightly dry finish. Hold it up to the light and you’ll enjoy the ruby highlights. It’s a smooth, malt focused beer that’s almost too easy to drink.
5.5% ABV

2024 Thanksgiving Day Wines

Thanksgiving Wines
The date this year - Thursday, November 28th, 2024

Thanksgiving is one of the best wine Holidays, with so many flavors and dishes on the table you can really drink whatever you like and it's bound to go perfectly with something on the table. There is no perfect Thanksgiving wine, because really the perfect Thanksgiving wine is the one you want to drink the most. If you like a big Cabernet or a big rich Chardonnay - drink those! If you do not like Pinot Noir, you will still not like it with Thanksgiving.
Drink what you like! We have come up with a few suggestions from our locations to help guide you.

Each store has its own personality and choices -- here are a few of our choices

Town and Country Location
Thanksgiving choices:
Before dinner:
NV Joel Falmet Brut Les Parcelles....$47.99

The nose is perfumed with fresh apple aromas, rich yeasty notes, and hints of citrus. In the mouth the wine is rich and full-bodied, with a suggestion of red fruit. Thanks to the Chardonnay in the blend, the finish is bright and crisp with citrus notes.

White wine selection:
2022 Damien Martin Saint Veran, $26.99

Pure, clean orchard and tropical fruits, spice, crushed stone, and white flower notes all emerge from the 2022 Saint Véran, a medium-bodied, clean, incredibly classy, balanced Saint Véran that has good mid-palate density, integrated acidity, and outstanding length.

Medium bodied elegant red:
2021 Pont Neuf Pinot Noir La Vouge....$64.99

Lush yet silky with highly perfumed flavors of red stone fruit, and hints of creme de cassis and raspberry fruit. Well balanced with stunning texture and weight.

Fuller bodied fruit forward red:
2022 Ferrano Cotes du Rhone Clos Beatus....$35.99

Juicy and supple on the palate, offering sweet raspberry and cherry flavors and a refreshingly bitter blood orange nuance. Fine grained tannins build through a long, sappy finish.

Turkey Day Suggestions
Rose wine:
2023 Domaine des Nugues Beaujolais Villages Rosé....$18.99

Made from 100% Gamay this Rose will shine at Thanksgiving! It will bring a refreshing lift to the rich meal. Gamay’s natural fruitiness and acidity make it an excellent match. It is versatile a wide range of Thanksgiving flavors, from roasted turkey to tangy cranberry sauce. The rosé’s natural acidity cuts through rich, creamy dishes like mashed potatoes, gravy, and stuffing, adding balance to the meal and making each bite feel lighter. Rosé offers a lighter, refreshing option to contrast with heavier red or white wines. This lets guests enjoy the wine without feeling overwhelmed. Bonus: The Rosé color adds a festive visual to the evening.

Sauvignon Blanc:
2023 Cédrick Bardin Sancerre...$33.99
Great choice for Thanksgiving! It has crisp acidity, minerality, and refreshing citrus notes, Sancerre offers a lively contrast to the richness of holiday dishes.  The zesty acidity in Sancerre cuts through rich foods like mashed potatoes, creamy casseroles, and gravy, bringing a refreshing lift to each bite and balancing the meal’s heavier elements.

Chardonnay:
2023 Theodore Rex Santa Barbara Chardonnay....$29.99

This Chardonnay could be a fantastic choice for Thanksgiving! The creamy texture and subtle oak influence would complement the flavors of classic Thanksgiving dishes like roasted turkey, buttery mashed potatoes, and stuffing. Overall, this Chardonnay could balance the entire Thanksgiving spread by adding richness, acidity, and a touch of luxury. It’s versatile, with enough complexity to stand up to multiple flavors on the table!

Cotes du Rhone:
2021 Le Grand Valmal Cotes du Rhone Villages Vieilles Vignes...$18.99
An incredible choice for Thanksgiving! Syrah is the dominant grape and this wine has a rich mix of dark fruit flavors like blackberry and plum, along with earthy and spicy notes, making it an ideal match for roasted turkey, stuffing, and other savory side dishes. The Syrah and Mourvèdre contribute peppery and smoky notes, which can complement spices commonly found in Thanksgiving dishes, like sage, thyme, and rosemary. It’s a wine that can elevate the meal while remaining versatile enough to pair with various dishes on the table.

CAVAILLON MELON
The Cavaillon melon, also known as the Charentais melon, is a small, round, and highly aromatic cantaloupe that originates from the Provence region in France, specifically the town of Cavaillon. This melon is highly prized for its sweet, juicy orange flesh and fragrant aroma, distinguishing it from other cantaloupes. Its skin is typically pale green with darker green, well-defined vertical stripes, creating an appealing look.
Cavaillon melons are celebrated for their unique taste, often described as intensely sweet with a slightly floral hint. They are enjoyed fresh, used in salads, or paired with savory ingredients like prosciutto for a classic French appetizer. They have become a symbol of Provençal cuisine, and Cavaillon even hosts an annual melon festival celebrating this cherished fruit.
These melons are usually harvested between June and September, making them a summer delicacy. They require a warm, dry climate to develop their full sweetness, and traditional French methods ensure only the ripest melons are sold.

Rolling Fork Rum 6 Year Dominican Republic

Rolling Fork Rum 6 Year Dominican Republic...$53.99
Cask No. HHR-224035
113.6 proof

"HHR" in the cask number HHR-224035 does indeed refer to Heaven Hill Rye. Rolling Fork often finishes their imported rums in whiskey barrels from well-known American distilleries, including Heaven Hill, which adds a layer of complexity to the rum’s flavor profile. In this case, the rum was initially aged for six years in the Dominican Republic and then finished in a cask previously used for Heaven Hill Rye whiskey, contributing subtle spice and oak notes characteristic of rye whiskey.

Only 5 barrels produced!
The wine is a combination of fruit from the Sierra Madre Vineyard in Santa Maria and the Peake Ranch Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills. It all went through malolactic fermentation - with aging in all French barrels.
"Santa Barbara’s cool 2023 growing season produced exceptional Chardonnays. The wines are especially perfumed, with great fruit concentration. Rounded out by a kiss of French oak, the wine gains mid-palate weight before finishing crisp, once again showing it’s cool origins. This is a superb Chardonnay designed to enjoy with many different foods, but it’s really easy to drink by itself." - Adam Lee, winemaker

  • Whole Cluster Pressed
  • Aged in all French oak, 20% new
  • 100% Malolactic Fermentation
More info from the famous winemaker, Adam Lee
The premiere release of Theodore Rex Chardonnay comes the remarkable 2023 vintage – One of the greatest and coolest in recent California history. Grapes are picked from two outstanding vineyards – one in the cool, high-acid Sta. Rita hills and the other in (still cool) somewhat richer Santa Maria flatlands. The combination of these two areas – carefully blended – produces a chardonnay that balances lushness with backbone – new world with old.

This should be your Thanksgiving Pinot Noir!!!

The cool 2023 vintage provided the perfect conditions for outstanding Pinot Noir. The wine shows the complexity that accompanies a longer growing season, with concentrated red fruits and pitch-perfect acidity. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered A Special Wine for a Special Cause.
A collaboration between famed winemaker (and friend of the store) Adam Lee, The Wine and Cheese Place, and Olive + Oak.

What does Puntas mean?

In tequila making, puntas refers to the "heads" or the first portion of liquid collected during the distillation process. It is the initial cut of the distillate that comes off the still and is usually higher in alcohol content and impurities compared to the middle cut (or heart), which is what most tequila is made from.  The Puntas is what most tequila producers save for the family!

Here's a breakdown of the stages in the distillation process for tequila:

  1. Puntas (Heads): The first liquid that comes out during distillation, typically high in alcohol.   When done right, it can introduce interesting, intense, and complex flavors, though it’s still rare to find a commercial product that specifically highlights Puntas

  2. Corazón (Heart): The middle part of the distillate, which contains the best balance of alcohol and aromatic compounds. This is the part used to make tequila because it has the best flavors and aromas.

  3. Colas (Tails): The final portion of the distillate, containing more water and less alcohol.

Tequila Ocho Plata Puntas 2024 is a high-proof, overproof tequila that stands out for its bold flavors and artisanal craftsmanship. Made from agaves harvested from Rancho Mirandillas in Jalisco, the agaves used for this expression have an exceptionally high sugar content of 31%, contributing to the tequila's rich and intense character.

Bottled at a hefty 54% ABV (108 proof), the 2024 release has been praised for its complex aromas and flavors. On the nose, you can expect notes of agave, dried fruits, and salted chocolate. The palate reveals flavors of cacao spiciness, butterscotch, and a long, creamy finish. It's a bold, sippable tequila that also works well in high-proof cocktails due to its layered profile of sweetness, spiciness, and heat.

The release is limited to 21,000 bottles

Plus, remember our two single barrels of Tequila count as DOUBLE POINTS in this raffle!!
