Castello di Bolgheri Varvara

Great value from Bolgheri! Some of this fruit is sold to Ornellaia and Sassicaia!

2020 Castello di Bolgheri Varvara...$39.99 / 750ml
James Suckling: 93 Points
A linear and vivd red with black-cherry and orange-peel aromas and flavors. Fresh flowers, too. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a bright finish. Give it a year or two, but already very pretty. Drink or hold.
Wine Advocate: 93 Points
Here's a quality, easy-to-drink blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The 2020 Bolgheri Rosso Varvàra is integrated and smooth with no rough spots. Black fruit, pressed rose, earth and spice are carefully woven together. All elements are in place, and the wine is available at a very attractive price point. Best after 2023.

With about 50 hectares of vines located near Sassicaia and not far from Ornellaia, Castello di Bolgheri is the estate with the biggest potential before it. In fact, some of its fruit is sold to the neighbors and appears in Tenuta San Guido's Guidalberto and Ornellaia's Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia, among other wines.

Vino Volta Methode Ancestrale Grenache Pet Nat

Great new Pet Nat made from Grenache!

In stock at Kirkwood and Forsyth!

2021 Vino Volta Grenache Pet Nat...$31.99 / 750ml
Vino Volta Description
Grenache is historic, a little forgotten and yet a star variety of the Swan Valley. This fruit comes from a 30 plus-year-old vineyard planted by Scampoli near the base of the darling scarp consisting of gravel and sand over coffee rock. Natural ferment, some whole bunch and extended maceration. Low so2 maximises fruit expression.
Vino Volta is the wine child of Garth Cliff & Kristen McGann. Calling on a collective 40 years of wine industry experience. Vino Volta makes tasty, quaffable medium-bodied wines. "We like to experiment. We like to play."
Swan Valley is Western Australia's oldest wine region and Australia's second oldest wine region with the first wine grapes planted in 1829. Grapes were also used for fruit and dried fruit production and wine production. Until the 1970s, Swan Valley was the major grape and wine-producing region of Western Australia. It is located at the top of the Swan River at the base of the Darling Scarp. It is 25 kilometres from Perth city and this drive normally takes less than 30 minutes.
GRENACHE WAS SOURCED FROM AN OLD SWAN VALLEY VINEYARD OF GRAVEL AND SAND OVER COFFEE ROCK. WHOLE BUNCH PRESSED AND THEN FERMENTED AS TURBID JUICE. SUPER FRUITY WITH MULBERRY, RASPBERRY AND OTHER BERRY FRUITS. THE PALATE IS CREAMY EVEN A TOUCH OILY WITH SOME CIDERY NOTES.

Bodega Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard Malbec

2019 Catena Zapata Nicasia Malbec...$99.99 / 750ml
Bodega Catena Zapata Description
Catena Zapata Nicasia Malbec is made from a meticulous vine selection in the best, historic rows of the Catena family’s estate vineyards. These Zapata vines are carefully hand tended and produce extremely low yields. The grapes are micro-fermented in new French oak barriques and the wine is then aged for 18 months in new French oak. This wine is made in very limited quantities.
Tasting Notes
Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard Malbec is a dark violet Malbec. Ripe black-and-red currant, raspberries and an elegant touch of french oak are some of the aromas that we can appreciate from this special malbec from one of the Catena´s highest family vineyards. Very complex and expressive palate, with a creamy violet flavor witih ripe blueberries, cassis, vanilla and spicecake.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with roasted veal, shiitake mushrooms, and beef tenderloin.
Decanter Magazine: 97 Points
Few red wines can rival grand Argentinian Malbec for drama and grandeur, and this version from the Altamira zone of La Consulta (in the Uco Valley) stood out even amongst its dramatic, strikingly profiled peers. It is jet black, just shot with purple at the rim. Soaringly expressive Malbec rose and tea leaf lifts from the glass with enviable purity, without a trace of distorting oak. In the mouth, it is deep and long: an arrow of fruit yet elegant, deftly textured with a snow of fine tannins, and devoid of alcoholic heat or intrusive, strenuous acidity. A sumptuous, haute-couture Malbec where the vineyard’s untrammeled fruit and inner radiance has been given voice. (Best in Show) - DWWA 2021
Vinous: 96 Points
From Paraje Altamira, the 2019 Malbec Nicasia Vineyard was made with grapes from a selected set of rows in Parcel #1 of the Nicasia Vineyard and aged for 24 months in new and second use French barrels. Dense, bright purple in the glass. The fruitiness of the complex, attractive nose is down to the region. The nose delivers a mixture of fresh plum and blackberry with lavender and violet aromas, hints of country herb and notes from the aging process. Broad but delicate in the mouth with good energy. The palate is gently sculpted by chalky tannins made juicy by the freshness. The fruity intensity is enhanced by the texture. A superb Malbec.
James Suckling: 95 Points
Intense nose of blackberries, dark plums, stones, tar, tea leaves and licorice. Full-bodied with firm, focused tannins. Compact and precise. Mineral yet caressing finish. Give this time. A little viognier co-fermented with malbec. Try after 2024.
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
Offers an alluring entry of loam, wood spice and fresh thyme, while the palate is fresh and enlivened by mineral acidity. Rich and full, with flavors of mocha-accented blackberry and plum that linger nicely around velvety tannins. Drink now through 2032. 950 cases made, 200 cases imported.

Jean Fillioux Cognac Grande Champagne COQ

This is a great buy in Cognac - we were very impressed!
Jean Fillioux Cognac Grande Champagne COQ...$47.99 / 750ml
A young, light and pleasantly fresh Grande Champagne with floral notes and vine blossoms, perfect for cocktails.
REVIEWS4 stars. Highly recommended. “The initial whiffs encounter lovely, melded scents of spiced pear, cardamom, and ripe white grapes; after allowing this cognac to sit undisturbed for seven more minutes, the second round of inhalations produces juicy, luscious, and fruity aromas that are in harmony; Grande Champagne cognac at its fruity, seductive aromatic best. Entry is intensely grapy, semisweet, ripe, and supple; midpalate reinforces the entry juiciness and youthful vigor. Finishes long, silky, tarter than I expected, and delicious. (Paul Pacult, The New Kindred Spirits, 2021)
Gold medal (Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, 2018)

Marie Duffau Bas Armagnac Hors D'Age 12yr...$49.99 / 750ml
Rich flavors of toffee, old oak, pitted plum and raisins; elegant rancio and long round finish. Min. 12 years old.
REVIEWS
Chairman's Trophy, 97 points, Great Value
“12 years of age have tamed this brandy’s rough edges resulting in a rich, toffee-laden spirit with hints of baked citrus delightful to sip on its own and arguably the best partner for chocolate toned desserts.” (Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2019)
4 stars, Highly Recommended
"Sienna color; ideal purity. Initial whiffs pick up BBQ sauce, tomato paste, red cherry compote, white raisins, and black peppercorn; secondary inhalations find an oakier bouquet, one that's piquant with baking spices (allspice, nutmeg) and dried fruits (dates especially). Entry is supple in texture, zesty from the peppercorn aspect, nicely woody / sap-like, and akin to holiday fruitcake elements, especially the candied nuts and dried pineapple; midpalate echoes the entry impressions while adding a touch of cola nut for balance. Aftertaste highlights the cola nut, the Dr. Pepper aspects, turning semisweet. This Bas-Armagnac has lots of moving parts that get into sync in the finish. (Paul Pacult, The New Kindred Spirits 2021)

Amazing single vineyard Macon!!!
This is a customer and store favorite white Burgundy
2021 Les Gentilhommes Macon Peronne....$26.99

100 % Chardonnay -- Single Vineyard from the heart of the Macon
This single-vineyard Chardonnay is produced in the village of Péronne, in the heart of the Maconnais region in Burgundy, from 40 year-old vines planted on the limestone based soils of the Mount Epin. A beautiful golden color with green reflections, delicate toasty notes and attractive aromas of citrus and ripe summer fruits combine with floral and honey nuances that are typical of the old vines. Fresh, ample and full-bodied on the palate, the wine is perfect by itself as an aperitif and delicious during the meal.

2019 Domaine de la Combe Muscadet Sevre et Maine...$18.99
  • Sur Lie
  • 100% Melon de Bourgogne
  • "Monopole" Muscadet
The Vineyard is located in the "lieux dit » La Pétière in Saint-Fiacre distinguished by its particular topography named « Combe » which is a sort of valley. Today Pierre Henry Gadais is the only wine grower to own this terroir. For this reason, it is considered a Monopole. In addition, « La Pétière », located nearby, used to be a pre-historic village. With a total of 9 hectares, planted with Melon de Bourgogne, the vineyard is one of the last to exclusively produce Muscadet. Pierre Henry has always believed in the Melon but also in the traditions. For him, the new generation is changing the variety and by doing so, losing the appellation. Pierre Henry does not want Muscadet to become a new world wine region.

Import information and terms about this wine:
Sèvre et Maine: The Muscadet Sèvre et Maine is a vineyard area that extends across about twenty communes to the south east of Nantes. It takes its name from the two rivers flowing through the vineyards: the Sèvre Nantaise and the Maine.
Sur Lie: French for "on the lees". Aging wines sur lie means they are kept in contact with the dead yeast cells and are not racked or otherwise filtered. This is done with mostly white wines to enrich them and add more complexity.
Grape: Melon de Bourgogne
The grape of Muscadet! Melon de Bourgogne originated in Burgundy (hence the name), but was removed for other grapes that thrived better there. Melon's ability to survive frost made it ideal in the Loire. When aged on the lees it produces a crisp, dry and complex white wine that is perfect with everything found in the ocean. Great wine with seafood.
Monopole: An appellation or designated winegrowing region controlled entirely by one winery.

Firestone Walker XXVI Anniversary Ale

Firestone Walker XXVI Anniversary Ale...$11.99 / 12oz bottle
Our collaboration with local winemakers dates back to 2006, when Matt was tasked with creating the inaugural Anniversary Ale to mark Firestone Walker’s 10th anniversary year. Ever since, the Anniversary Ale blending session has become an annual summer rite at the brewery.
“I’m not aware of any other beer that is blended like this, from so many distinct components,” Brewmaster Matt says. “That’s why we bring in the winemakers—they are, by nature, practicing experts in the art of blending.”
This latest Anniversary Ale is driven by two barrel-aged stouts, but it’s much more than that. It has this perfect balancing point with a lot of spirits barrel character, and there’s an underlying freshness that elevates the mouthfeel. The result is an impossibly complex blend loaded with bourbon-accented flavors of milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and butterscotch.
FINAL BLEND:
Parabola – Russian Imperial Stout – Aged in Bourbon Barrels (32%)
Velvet Merkin – Milk Stout – Aged in Bourbon Barrels (32%)
Bravo – Imperial Brown Ale – Aged in Bourbon Barrels (24%)
Heavy Things – Barley Wine Made in Collaboration with The Bruery – Aged in Brandy Barrels (6%)

Stone Brewing Imperial Stout

Stone Brewing Imperial Stout...$16.99 / 6pk 12oz cans
Stone Brewing Imperial Stout...$2.99 / 12oz can
Ask any hardcore Stone enthusiast about our most legendary beers and you’re bound to hear mention of this one. Nearly jet black with a fluffy hot chocolate-colored head, a goblet of this obsidian wonder held to the sky could block out the sun. Or an evening. Redolent with dark chocolate and heavy roast up front, gracefully supported by nuances of coffee, black currant, molasses as it finishes… this beaut is ageable for years. Some of us are still enjoying our bottles from the early 2000’s. So, to look ahead, what will your stock of the 2022 edition of the Stone Imperial Stout be in 2037? Legit question. Advance planning will be its own reward!
FEATURED HOPS
Magnum
FLAVOR PROFILE
The beer is mostly about roasted malts. Bittersweet cocoa and coffee flavors are the major players, along with fruitiness, hints of anise, and yeastiness, followed by a smooth, balanced, not sweet finish.
PALATE
This beer is very full bodied, and very smooth!
APPEARANCE
Beer pours black with a deep tan head of foam.
AROMA
Cocoa and coffee flavors dominate, along with some fruity fermentation esters and some yeasty breadiness.
OVERALL
We don’t change this recipe much from the original version that Steve designed in 2000. It’s a fantastic recipe, and we love brewing it every year!

Desert Door Texas Sotol

Desert Door Texas Sotol Original 80 Proof...$35.99 / 750ml
ORIGINAL
Desert Door Texas Sotol is hand-crafted in Driftwood, Texas. ‘Sotol’ is both the name of our spirit and the desert plant we make it from. We wild-harvest all our sotol; we don’t farm or cultivate the plant, so as to conserve precious resources like land and water.
TASTING NOTES
On the nose our Desert Door Original is a lot like a premium tequila, with bright notes of vanilla and green grass - but that’s where the similarities end. Tasting reveals flavors like toffee, mint, and orange zest. The finish is custard-smooth - smoother than any tequila - with subtle hints of sage.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Our Original is great for mixing in cocktails and can be substituted for clear spirits in most recipes. It can also be enjoyed neat, or over an ice cube.
Gold Medal Winner - Denver International Spirits Competition 2020
Desert Door Texas Sotol Oak Aged 100 Proof...$46.99 / 750ml
OAK-AGED
Desert Door Texas Sotol is hand-crafted in Driftwood, Texas. ‘Sotol’ is both the name of our spirit and the desert plant we make it from. We wild-harvest all our sotol; we don’t farm or cultivate the plant, so as to conserve precious resources like land and water.
TASTING NOTES
Our Desert Door Oak-Aged Sotol is finished in virgin White Oak barrels and aged to taste for roughly a year. On the nose it’s akin to a young whiskey, with pleasing notes of vanilla, cedar and caramel. Sipping reveals more vanilla, along with dried cherries and oak. The finish brings back caramel and a creamy smoothness like vanilla custard, with just a hint of Eucalyptus.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
We recommend you enjoy our Oak-Aged neat or over an ice cube, though it does make a great sotol-based Old Fashioned.
Gold medal - San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2020
Desert Door Texas Sotol Conservation Series Pollinator...$46.99 / 750ml
CONSERVATION SERIES
The Desert Door Conservation Series was created to bring attention to those individuals and organizations who have taken remarkable action in forwarding conservationism. This bottle, dubbed Pollinator, is the third in our Conservation Series.
For this year’s project, we collaborated with the Xerces Society, the largest invertebrate conservation organization in the world and home to the largest pollinator conservation team of any nonprofit.
Our latest Conservation release highlights one of the overlooked heroes of the earth’s ecosystem — the humble bee. Recently, we’ve seen an alarming decline in Texas’s bee population. The good news is there’s something simple each of us can do to help: plant more native plants. Native plants provide the pollen and nectar that are the primary food source for bees. The mesquite, persimmon, and honeysuckle featured in this special release are all native to Texas and pollinated by a native bee species.
TASTING NOTES
Pollinator features a nose blossoming with floral notes and vanilla, honeysuckle and clover. On the lips, you’ll get sensations of buttery vanilla custard, mesquite Bean and rosemary. The finish reveals persimmon, hibiscus and sage.

Ohishi Single Sherry Cask Whisky distilled from rice and is matured fully in fresh Sherry Casks. Each cask is hand selected by the master distiller Oishi-san and represents the beauty of light and dark juxtaposition that is the soft silky texture of rice whisky synchronized with the massive sherry influence of the cask. Big raisins, figs, and oak spice cover the nose and palate. Like sherry cask scotch whisky, but uniquely its own in mouth feel and aroma.
Ex-red wine casks that were sourced from Israel’s finest wineries were picked for this part of the Elements trilogy. The Mediterranean’s climate, variety of soil types, hot sunny days and cool nights bring a spicy and unique flavor to Israeli wine – and in turn, our casks. The wine casks used in the Elements Red Wine are a celebration of local terroir, curating a floral single malt with notes of raisins.
Gouden Carolus Single Malt is a refined whisky distilled from the mash of Gouden Carolus Tripel beer. Originally brewed for the Knights of the Golden Fleece in 1491, this pleasant golden blond beer is preferred by all who love heavier, somewhat seasoned, full-bodied, and refreshing beer. A first for Belgium are the hand hammered, copper pot stills, in which the pure mash is distilled. The result is a pure and clear distillate. The ensuing aging in First Fill Bourbon casks followed by a further aging in ‘Anker’ casks (oak casks reworked by the cooper according to Het Anker’s own specifications) results in a refined whisky with a rich and balanced taste. The subtle fruit aromas are delightfully enhanced by hints of wood and vanilla.
Penderyn is made at the Penderyn Distillery which is located on the southern reaches of the Brecon Beacons. The whisky is distilled in a specially-commissioned unique whisky still producing a flavourful spirit at 92% abv which is married with fresh spring water drawn from directly beneath the distillery.. Pure water source is replenished by rain water that flows through the soil and filters through to near-surface rocks within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The spirit is then matured in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in rare Madeira barriques to produce our house-style Madeira-finish whisky that, even at 46% ABV, is light and fresh in style.93 Point, 2021 ULTIMATE SPIRITS CHALLENGE
