Smooth Ambler Contradiction

Smooth Ambler Contradiction...$37.99
Blend of Straight Bourbon Whiskies
92 Proof
At Smooth Ambler, after we began merchant bottling the whiskey we call Old Scout, it occurred to us that at some point it may be fun and interesting to blend a little of the delicious bourbon we source with the smooth and sweet wheated bourbon we distill here in West Virginia. With that notion in mind, Contradiction was born; a blend of whiskey we make with whiskey we do not. Contradiction is non-chill filtered and is full-bodied, with notes of dried fruit and butter rum, and has the end-result of tasting like a four-grain bourbon.
Mashbill: Merchant bottled bourbon made with corn, rye and malted barley married with homemade bourbon made with corn, wheat and malted barley.
Distillation Process: Continuous column distillation and pot distillation.
Aging: A blend of different straight whiskeys, there are different ages represented in Contradiction. The majority whiskey is more than 9 years in age.

Joseph Drouhin Macon Villages

As much as we love bringing new wines to market and showing off our latest wine-finds sometimes it is just as satisfying when one of our longtime favorites gets a nod from the critics. It surely won't come as a surprise to our regulars that the Joseph Drouhin Macon Villages received some great press recently:

2017 Joseph Drouhin Macon Villages...$12.99
The 2017 Mâcon-Villages from Maison Joseph Drouhin is a very pretty and quite classic example of its appellation. The bouquet is quite floral, wafting from the glass in a mix of apple, fresh almond, a developing note of beeswax, spring flowers, toasty Mâconnais soil tones and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and impressively vibrant, with a very good core of fruit, lovely soil signature, zesty acids and lovely backend energy on the long and complex finish. This is a very lovely example of Mâcon-Villages, with impressive backend amplitude. A great value! 2019-2026.

With its bold flavors and an easy accessibility, our Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with a variety of foods and occasions, from filet mignon to barbecued ribs.

A sweet aroma of berries and chocolate comes from whisky aged in oak casks for over 3 years, and then finished in sherry casks. It is complimented by a citrus-tart taste like lemon grass. This whisky is aged in white oak ex-bourbon barrels for over 8 years, removing any unpleasant flavors and causing the whisky to become ripe and complex in flavor. Brockmans Premium Gin

Brockmans Premium Gin...$29.99
GIN, ONLY BETTER
Brockmans unique recipe of naturally grown aromatic botanicals are steeped in pure grain spirit for many hours to release their natural oils and aromas. The more traditional notes of gin are combined with a refreshing influence of citrus and aromatic wild berries. Bulgarian coriander plays its part, providing an aromatic, gingery orange top note. This blends perfectly with the soft and rounded harmonies of blueberries and blackberries, all of which is supported by the bottom note of Tuscan juniper berries. Dry, bittersweet Valencian orange peel elongates the deeper tones and gives an intensely smooth finish.

Thereafter, Brockmans is slowly distilled in a 100 year old traditional copper still, where we capture the heart of the gin distillation. The distinctive gin notes derived from Brockmans unique recipe deliver an exquisite intensely smooth gin, with a uniquely defining sensual taste experience.

THE TASTE
LIKE NO OTHER
Brockmans is like no other gin. For gin enthusiasts it is a revelation, for gin novices it is about discovering an unexpected individual taste. It stands proudly alone from the many other types of gin due to the unique recipe of exquisite botanicals and the patient steeping distillation process. Where the more traditional notes of gin are combined with a refreshing influence of citrus and aromatic wild blackberries and blueberries. This creates an intensely smooth gin taste that is sensual and daringly different.
The unrivalled taste of this beautifully made gin can be enjoyed simply neat over ice. It is refreshingly different when served with tonic or ginger ale. For the mixologists amongst us it opens up a whole world of new taste experiences when mixed in gin cocktails.

Off Color Brewing Spots Tiki Weisse Style Ale

Off Color Brewing Spots Tiki Weisse Style Ale...$7.99 / 4pk 12oz
Dense jungle and rainforest are the preferred habitat of jaguars, however as these areas are destroyed through deforestation these noble creatures are forced to roam farther and farther afield in search of the Tiki drinks and grilled cheese sandwiches that sustain them. A couple years ago, we ran into one at Sportsmans Club and shut down the patio with him. Amongst stories of travel and pouncing, he went on at length about his favorite cocktail bursting with all the sickly sweet aromas of passion fruit and grapefruit peel but balanced by a lively acidity and slight but world-wise touch of funk. We've done our best to pay homage to that fine beast and his libations and hope you find Spots as nimble and explosive as its namesake.

Noble Oak Double Oak Bourbon

Noble Oak Double Oak Bourbon...$31.99

NOBLE OAK is a unique award winning bourbon with a worthy purpose. We at Noble Oak are fanatics about wood. That’s because 70% of a bourbon’s flavor comes from the wood. With Noble Oak, we elegantly marry two of the world’s most coveted types of oak used in whiskey making: American White Oak and Spanish Sherry Oak. We use time honored methods and our patented Compression Finishing™ process to create an unrivaled bourbon with body, deep color, and richness of flavor from some of the finest sherry oak staves. The result is a Great Bourbon with a Noble Heart.

FIRST, we traditionally rest our bourbon in Charred New American White Oak barrels for a minimum of one year, developing sweet vanilla notes and a deep caramel tone.

THEN, through our patented Compression Finishing process, we add complexity and flavor using Spanish Sherry Oak Staves, the same wood used to craft the world’s finest and rarest whiskies. This process uses cycles of heat and pressure to maximize the interaction of wood and spirit. The resulting whiskey is full of richness and flavor with notes of dried fruit, cherry, vanilla and spice.
THE RESULT is Noble Oak: a Great Bourbon with a Noble Heart.

2015 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Red....$1199.98 per bottle
Bottled in early 2018, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Proprietary Red Wine is a little closed, slowly unfurling to reveal black cherries, crème de cassis and plum pudding with nuances of potpourri, baking spices and tilled soil plus wafts of garrigue and wild sage. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated with exquisitely ripe, fine-grained tannins and fantastic poise and depth with a long, decadently fruited finish.
Rated 100/100 The Wine Advocate

2012 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Red....$1199.98 per bottle
The 2012 Harlan Estate is reminiscent of their 2002. Probably a candidate for perfection with another 4-5 years of bottle age, the wine is inky plum/purple to the rim and offers a gorgeous nose of scorched earth, blackberry and cassis, forest floor, and a floral, lavender-like component followed by deep, opulent, majestic flavors that caress the palate with high but sweet tannin. This is relatively evolved, and supple and voluptuous for a young Harlan estate – hence the comparison with their compelling 2002. This wine can be drunk in several years and is likely another candidate for 30-50 years of cellaring.
Rated 99+/100 The Wine Advocate

2015 Bond Cabernet Sauvignon Melbury...$600 per bottle
Bottled in early 2018, the 2015 Melbury is deep garnet-purple colored with beautiful redcurrant jelly and crème de cassis notes with savory notions of tobacco, black olives and smoked meats plus a waft of lavender. The palate is full-bodied, firm and grainy, with a lively line lifting the perfumed, savory layers, finishing long.
Rated 97/100 The Wine Advocate

2015 Bond Cabernet Sauvignon Quella...$600 per bottle
Bottled in early 2018, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Quella gives aromas of blackcurrants, black cherries and mulberries with touches of tobacco, new leather, iron ore and truffles plus a hint of tree back. The palate is full-bodied, muscular and laden with earth and mineral layers, finishing with persistent savory notes.
Rated 97/100 The Wine Advocate

2015 Bond Cabernet Sauvignon St. Eden...$600 per bottle
Bottled in early 2018, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 St. Eden springs from the glass with exuberant blueberry pie, potpourri and spice cake scents followed by a black raspberry, cassis and preserved plums core plus a touch of wild sage. Full-bodied, plush and decadently fruited, it completely packs the palate with layer upon layer of black fruit preserves, finishing very long with those spices coming through.
Rated 99/100 The Wine Advocate

2015 Bond Cabernet Sauvignon Vecina...$600 per bottle
Bottled in early 2018, the 2015 Vecina is deep garnet-purple in color, with baked blackberries, black cherries and blackcurrant cordial aromas that leap from the glass with nuances of roses, pencil lead, menthol and mocha. The palate is full-bodied, very fine and incredibly seductive with a solid frame supporting the generous layers, finishing long and exotic.
Rated 98+/100 The Wine Advocate

2015 Bond Cabernet Sauvignon Pluribus...$600 per bottle
Bottled in early 2018, the 2015 Pluribus is deep purple-black colored with minted cassis, pencil shavings and tobacco over a core of black plums, black berry preserves and mulberries plus hints of Chinese five spice and dried lavender. Big, rich, bold and decadent, it has a firm line of super ripe, grainy tannins and fantastic freshness lifting the generous flavors to a long finish.
Rated 100/100 The Wine Advocate
