The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Suscol Springs is 98% Cabernet Sauvignon with 2% Merlot, all of which spent 22 months in 54% new French oak. It's probably the biggest, softest wine of the trio and has a ripe, opulent style in its plum, blueberry, chocolate, iron, and spicy wood-driven aromas and flavors. It has beautiful purity, full-bodied richness, sweet tannins, and a great finish. Drink this beauty any time over the coming 15 years or so.

Lastly, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Dancing Bear Ranch comes from a stunning estate vineyard on Howell Mountain with the plantings dating back to 1999. A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, and a splash of Cabernet Franc, aged in 59% new oak, this beauty reminds me of a great Saint-Julien (Leoville Barton?) with its incredible purity and regal, structured style. Crème de cassis, lead pencil, violets, chalky minerality, and chocolaty oak all emerge on the nose, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, ripe yet perfectly integrated tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It needs air if drinking any time soon and will ideally be given 4-6 years in the cellar. This beauty will have three decades of overall longevity.

Shiraz from from McLaren Vale, Australia
It's a rich, plush Shiraz (called Syrah elsewhere), with Tait’s signature boldness.  It is full-bodied, jammy, and ripe, with lots of black fruits (blackberry, plum), chocolate, licorice, and a little vanilla from oak aging. It's a big 14.9% ABV — but balanced for fans of bigger, "New World" Shiraz styles.

The Border Crossing is a wine project enabling Bruno to see how his style of making Shiraz would work made from parcels of grapes from McLaren Vale, a different region from his beloved Barossa Valley. There in McLaren Vale, approximately 2 miles from the ocean, near the small town of Aldinga, he found a block of 30+ year old vine Shiraz, that produces a wine that is big and lush just like his wine back in the Barossa however with more blueberry and mocha characteristics.

This native grape variety played a central role in Alto Adige viticulture until the 1970s and contributed to Alto Adige’s renown as a red wine region. As the grapes prefer the shade, we continue to train the Schiava vines along a pergola trellis system. The wines are characterised by freshness, light and rounded tannins and a moderate alcohol content.
Ruby-red with a purple shimmer. Subtly pronounced on the nose, fresh and fruity, with floral (violet) notes and white pepper. Light-to-medium bodied, well-balanced, soft, and dry on the palate.

Phillippe Collotte and his daughter, Isabelle, producer top-tier wines from their family estate in the heart of Marsannay, that was revived in the 1910's after phylloxera destroyed much of Burgundy. The Collottes vinify all of their reds the same to let the site truly express itself. This 100% Pinot Noir comes from a 1 hectare plot in Combereau. We get lots of red fruits, floral notes, and just the right amount of Burgundy funk to make this not only an excellent value today, but one with ageing potential for at least a decade. We bought the last 6 cases. Definitely grab some while it lasts!
