Half Dozen set number 1

2020 Arrumaco Garnacha Rose...$9.99 / 750ml
Offering impressive density and concentration, striking purity of fruit, and true and loud expressions of Spain’s classic varietals, Arrumaco has become a go-to label that has risen to the top in a crowded category of sensational values.
Tasting Notes: Lighter in color and body than many other Spanish rosés. Loaded with intense raspberry and plum aromas that follow to a crisp yet silky palate.
Serve With: Excellent on its own and with a wide range of lighter fare. The perfect summer sipper and tapas wine!

2020 Penya Cotes Catalanes Rose...$11.99
Cases de Pene is a tiny village in the Roussillon region of Southern France, just 30 miles north of Spain. Ceded to France in the mid 17th century, the area is still known as “French Catalonia”. We celebrate this heritage with the Catalan spelling of the ancient Château and village Cooperative: “Penya”.
Tasting Notes: Offers fresh aromas of Rainier cherries, garrigue, and hints of red raspberry and melon. Rich, full-bodied, yet bright on the palate.
Serve With: Great as an aperitif or an accompaniment to hearty salads, fish and shellfish, charcuterie, frittata, and more.

2020 Chateau Les Mesclances Cuvee Saint Honrat Provence...$24.99
Sourced from a mid-slope parcel that was the original source of grapes at the estate generations ago, the 35-year-old vines are planted to Grenache and Cinsault, with a few Mourvedre plants mixed in. With 8 hours of maceration for the Grenache, this wine leans towards a more vinous and serious style of rosé. This cuvée makes for an ideal companion at the table.

2019 Medimer Marselan Rose....$14.99
Fresh and quaffable
Marselan is a French wine grape that was first bred in 1961 - it is a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache
Nice pink color with a beautiful brightness. It has a pleasantly tart, lemony nose that develops into grapefruit. Pleasant acidity, the mouth is light with good strawberry and raspberry fruit and a nice dry finish that lasts and lasts.

2020 Pegau Pink Pegau...$19.99
Sourced from Laurence Féraud’s 100+ acre estate in Sorgues, just 4 miles south of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Pink Pegau boasts an outsized popularity and ardent following in the marketplace. Crisp and aromatic (and a bit cheeky), this bone-dry rosé is loaded with character and offers immense enjoyment both on its own and at the table.
Tasting Notes: Pale pink/salmon in color, with peach, floral and red fruit aromas. Bone dry, with a crisp, mouth-watering acidity leading to a long, spicy, mineral finish.
Serve With: Enjoy as an aperitif, with seafood, or a wide range of lighter fare.

2020 Horgelus Cotes de Gascogne Rose....$13.99
35% Merlot
35% Tannat
30% Cabernet Sauvignon

Horgelus Rose is made from grapes that were picked at night. At night the grapes are cooler and lends itself to a much fresher Rose wine. This Rose has an intense and complex bouquet of sweet strawberries, juicy blackcurrants and ends with a thirst-quenching and dry finish.
Great wine on its own but also goes well with grilled chicken, salmon and fresh salads.

Half Dozen set number 2

2020 Le Grand Valmal Plaisir de Rose...$12.99
Deeper colored rose and it is also fuller-bodied. Strawberry and blackberry flavors dominate and it is rich and round. It finishes with great length and power, plus a bit of peppery spice. Think of it as an alternative to Tavel. Try this bone dry Rose that can be enjoyed now but will last for 2-3 years and continue to improve.

2020 Villa des Anges Rose...$12.99
“Villa des Anges” is crafted by winemaker Jeff Carrel at the Espitalet des Anges domaine in Capestang. Situated on the ruins of an ancient Roman villa, the domaine is owned by Jaqueline Menard de Ginestous, who married-into and is herself from a prominent Languedocienne wine-growing family.
Tasting Notes: A light-bodied wine, intensely crisp and vividly fresh, it offers complex aromas of strawberries and red currants, with a hint of quince.
Serve With: As an aperitif it is the perfect warm weather gulper and also pairs well with a wide range of salads, seafoods, lighter dishes and grilled white meats and poultry.

2020 Bargemone Rose Rose Coteaux d'Aix en Provence...$21.99
Bargemone is among the foremost estates of the Coteaux d’Aix appellation of Provence. A benchmark producer of the delicious, dry rosé for which Provence is famous, the Commanderie was founded by Templar knights in the13th century, and is home to a proud viticultural tradition and more than 160 acres of sustainably grown vineyards.
Tasting Notes: Offers classic aromas of wild strawberries and red currants, with a light, floral character and a crisp, bone-dry palate.
Serve With: A rosé of reference, to be enjoyed year-round on its own or with a wide range of lighter fare and Provence-inspired cuisine.

2020 Domaine Les Mesclances Charmes Rose...$16.99

Sourced from the vines abutting the two streams that intersect on the estate, classic varieties including Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Tibouren comprise this fresh, red-fruited rosé. Pressed shortly after harvest with minimal skin contact, the pale color and bright acid lead to an effortless enjoyment of this cuvée.

2019 Sol Real Vinho Verde Rose...$8.99
SOL REAL VINHO VERDE ROSE is all about fresh picked strawberries, rhubarb and red currants. The all-about-summer-pink color give way to well-balanced flavors in the mouth that do super well with food. At 10.5% alcohol, this fresh fruity, slightly sparkly rose is a sunny-time must.

2020 Castello di Ama Purple Rose...$18.99
The 2020 Purple Rose, a varietal Sangiovese, is actually quite red in color. Wild floral and herb tones blow off to reveal young strawberries and crushed rocks. This is silky-smooth and pliant, fleshing out across the palate, offering ripe red fruits and minerals motivated by juicy acidity. There’s so much pleasure to be found here, as an enriching note of sweet spice mingles with candied citrus through the long finale. - Eric Guido

L'Encantada "Armagnac" Aged in Weller Barrels

Unicorns in the Making: Grab These Collectible Spirits While You Still Can
While single barrels were generally disqualified from this exercise, this bottler only releases single barrels from a variety of tiny Armagnac estates like Lous Pibous and Le Frêche (with the exception of its excellent XO Armagnac, a blend of barrels usually limited to around 2,000 bottles). If bourbon drinkers are seemingly willing to spend any amount of money on whiskey, the same is not quite true for brandy, even if it’s older, rarer, and assuredly more delicious. (Taste hardly matters for unicorn status — sad but true.) But the tide is slowly turning and two- and sometimes three-decades-aged releases from L’Encantada that used to sell for under $100 and used to linger on shelves for months, are now going for two to three times that and lasting mere weeks in some cases. It’s not hard to think these gorgeous orange-waxed bottles might soon become, cough, the Pappy of Armagnac. -- Vinepair

"It was so off-profile to what Armagnac people liked,” explains Schurman. “But anyone who liked a George T. Stagg or a Weller [bourbon] would love it. Sometimes, they wouldn’t even know it was an Armagnac."
L'Encantada -- The Armagnac That’s Sneaking Into ‘Bourbon Porn’ - Vinepair

Finished in Ex-Weller Bourbon Barrels!

L'Encantada "Armagnac" Aged in Weller Barrels...$149.99
Tattoo Series #2
Cannot be called Armagnac since it is finished in Bourbon Barrels.

Cask-strength brandy (24- to 36-years old) aged in Gascony oak and ex-Weller Bourbon barrels
The second Tattoo Series is a partnership with esteemed New York-based tattoo artist Laura Leonello, who has garnered a devoted following in her own right. She named her bottle design “Beacon of Hope,” a fitting theme for our time. L’Encantada Tattoo Series No. 2 is a blend of Armagnac from 10 different casks, including Del Cassou 1985, Lasalle 1986, and De Belair 1989, among others. The oldest spirit in the blend is from 1985 (36 years) and the youngest from 1997 (24 years). As with the first edition, each Armagnac in the blend finished maturation in ex-Weller Bourbon barrels; while this additional aging process introduced a new layer of complexity and distinction, the spirit lost its “Armagnac” appellation of origin. (To be legally labeled “Armagnac,” the spirit must be aged exclusively in French oak.) Apart from the modern finish, the spirit has been left completely unaltered: unfiltered, no additives, and cask strength.

Duvel Belgian Aged in Jamaican Rum Barrels

 Limited Duvel back in stock

Duvel Jamaican Rum Barrel Aged...$32.99 / 750ml

By ageing the classic Duvel in oak Jamaican rum barrels, the golden-coloured speciality beer acquired powerful, typical rum notes of vanilla, dried fruit and oak.

Hedwig Neven, master brewer: "Brewing a complex beer like Duvel is always a challenge. Ageing Duvel in wooden rum barrels is an even bigger challenge. You really only have 'one shot' to get it right. But it worked wonderfully. It is a beer with respect for the authentic taste of Duvel, but with a surprising Jamaican twist.”

Riesling Sampler Pack

Riesling Characteristics

Riesling is believed to have originated in Germany, which remains the leading producer of these wines worldwide, making a range of styles from bone-dry to sweet and everything in between. On the other side of the French-German border, Alsace is also one of the highest-regarded sources of Riesling, as is Austria, which generally focuses on dry styles. In the New World, Riesling has found a home in Australia, notably Clare Valley, as well as in New York's Finger Lakes, Canada, New Zealand and Washington.

Riesling buds late, is mid- to late-ripening, and does best in cool climates, where grapes ripen slowly and develop deep aromatic character. In order to achieve full ripeness, producers often plant Riesling on south-facing slopes for maximum sun exposure. The grape grows best in limestone and slate soils.... Off-dry or lightly sweet styles are particularly popular in Germany's Mosel region, but many of the most lauded bottlings are dry. Overall, the wines exhibit fresh fruit flavors of peach, pear, lemon and yellow apple, complemented by pronounced minerality and floral notes. Riesling is capable of making wines of great longevity, thanks in part to its high acidity. Aged versions typically develop hints of petrol aromas. -- The Wine Spectator

2019 Hirsch Ried Zoblinger Helligenstein Riesling Erste Lagen...$61.99
Still slightly funky (from wild ferment), but it blows off quickly to reveal so much wild-herb, floral and mineral complexity, which takes hold and draws you in, making it difficult for the nervous system to process it all at once. From biodynamically grown grapes.
Rated 98/100 James Suckling

2016 Penfolds Riesling Eden Valley Bin 51...$39.99

Very strong floral character on the nose — typical of Eden Valley — with lemon blossom and white-rose perfumes; the aromas are engaging and ever so pretty. The palate, meanwhile, has a succulent, tangy and elegant feel to it. Fresh pear and apple flavors sing out in a chalky textural setting, the acidity is servile, and this holds pure and even, all the way to the balanced, lemon-citrus finish. Drink now or hold until 2022 for some smoother, aged character.

2018 Julien Schaal Riesling Rosacker Grand Cru....$34.99
This is very beautiful with lime, stone and green-melon character. Medium-to full-bodied and creamy with a flavorful finish. Mineral and flinty. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
Rated 93/100 James Suckling
Fresh chamomile leaves and a notion of crushed yarrow give freshness to the nose of this wine that is intense but nuanced. On the palate, freshness frames and shapes everything, despite the rounded, almost gilded peach fruit of 2018. Ripe lemon brightness gives concentration, structure and drive to this gorgeous dry Riesling. Drink now–2040.

2019 Poet's Leap Riesling Columbia Valley...$18.99
From its precise, nicely concentrated aromas of sweet limes, peaches and honeysuckle to its continuously fruity flavors, this is a precise Riesling that hits all of the right varietal marks and does so without ever wavering in the least. Its slight bit of residual sugar is balanced by beautifully fit acidity, and it is thoroughly delicious now, yet, as evidenced by last September’s report on Poet’s Leap Rieslings dating back to the 2008 vintage, it, too, is a wine with a marvelously long life ahead and should evolve famously for a good decade or more.

2017 Hermann J. Wiemer Dry Riesling..$18.99
The 2017 Dry Riesling comes in with seven grams of total sugar, 5.8 of total acidity and 12% alcohol. This is a workhorse wine for Wiemer—6,100 cases produced, a blend of all of the vineyard sites and generally tending to be a third of the winery's total production, more or less. It's why co-owner Fred Merwath considers it the winery's most important bottling, and in this tricky year, the fruit for several single-vineyard sites was declassified to make this better (e.g., Josef Vineyard and Magdalena Vineyard). Perhaps as a result, it shows beautifully, with moderate tension on the long finish and a bright, balanced feel. This, like so many FLX Dry Rieslings, is a fine bargain point in the lineup. It doesn't always show the depth of the best upper-level wines, but sometimes it is not far off. It will age well too—Fred estimates that it can do 15 years. Let's be a little conservative just now and take that in stages, but he's probably right. It will certainly be better and more developed in 2021-2023.

2018 J.J. Prum Graacher Himmelreich Spatlese...$45.99 / 750ml
This has all of the elements of a great spätlese, with pronounced acidity supporting the ripe peach, yellow apple, mango and spruce flavors, while hints of vanilla and piecrust add to the complexity. Still a bit intense, but this should develop beautifully with age, allowing the minerality to become more prominent. Best from 2022 through 2038. 150 cases imported.

Chimay "Green" Cent Cinquante Strong Blond Ale

Chimay "Green" Cent Cinquante Strong Blond Ale...$6.99 / 11.2oz
Chimay "Green" Cent Cinquante Strong Blond Ale...$26.99 / 4pk

Chimay Cent Cinquante (ABV 10%) is a strong, sophisticated and refreshing blond ale, with a balanced flavor and a floral fragrance, combined with hints of dried fruit and spices. The exceptional yeast isolated by Father Theodore, combined with the purity of the highly protected water of the abbey's wells, gives Chimay its unique richness.

Since 1862 Chimay's ales have been fermented in the bottle. These secondary fermented ales have neither been pasteurized nor filtered and only natural ingredients are used. The Trappist logo certifies that this ale is brewed in a Trappist Abbey and that the majority of the profit is intended for social aid.

Originally brewed in a limited edition in 2012 in honor of the 150th anniversary of Scourmont Abbey's brewery, Cent Cinquante ("150" in French), with its green label, is Chimay's first new permanent beer in 55 years.
