Dr. H. Thanisch Riesling Mosel Bernkasteler Doctor Kabinett

The iconic Bernkasteler Doctor considered the “Romanée-Conti of the Mosel.”
Very prestigious terroir - only about 8 acres in total—super small and rare.


The Bernkasteler Doctor vineyard dates back to the 14th century. According to legend, the Archbishop of Trier was seriously ill and none of his doctors could cure him. A local winemaker brought him some wine from this steep vineyard, and—miraculously—the Archbishop recovered. He supposedly proclaimed the vineyard his “doctor,” and the name stuck.

Bitter, Sweet, and Sour—Bright Lemon is an ODE to citrus flavors and blossoms from the Mediterranean. Bright Lemon’s rich flavor is made from seven types of lemons and yellow stone fruits like peaches and apricots. It’s rounded out by bitter barks and roots, artichoke, wild thyme, jasmine and a touch of sea salt. Blended with a Spätlese Riesling from Nico Espenschied of the Rheinhessen, it’s a complex next-level aperitif.  The ODE aperitif is macerated in organically sourced neutral spirit using botanicals, herbs, bark, and citrus whose flavors are extracted in various different combinations. Some together, some on their own, whatever is best for each botanical. His chosen variety was Balboa rye, an heirloom grain which dates back to the 1940s as a rye variety popular in Indiana. He offered it to us and we distilled it into rye whiskey, probably the first time in decades that Typical of heirloom rye, the Balboa grain is a little smaller than modern varieties, with a lower output per acre of planting -- but it's no less flavorful for that! In the summer of 2021, Dave Phinney decided to produce his own wine from the Our Lady of Guadalupe Vineyard, giving him complete control in the vineyard and cellar. Simply put, this is the only project in the United States where Dave makes wine from a vineyard he owns.

Aged 10 months in 49% new French oak, with a 3.76pH and 14.8% alcohol, the 2022 leads with a more savoury profile than the inaugural 2021 release (also a fabulous wine). Alluring candied cherry notes are scented with expressive cedarwood laced with fragrant cumin and flamed orange peel. A polished wine on entry with silky textured fruit so pure and so ripe and bright and perfectly expressive of black cherry, black plum, Red Delicious apple, and layers of baking spices. Ohishi Sakura Cask –Ohishi Whisky that is finished in new locally-grown Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Casks for over 1 year. The Sakura cask gives it a slightly smokey note and rich flavor. Note: this is full Sakura cask, not just a barrel head. The Sakura (Cherry Blossom) is locally grown in Kumamoto close to the distillery. The whisky is matured in Brandy and Sherry casks.
The Sakura gives a rich color and soft Oak spice influence to the whisky. A great example of Japanese terroir, this whisky is made with locally grown rice, is locally distilled, matured, and finally finished in the locally grown Oak barrels.

Macnair's Lum Reek 12 Year Peated Blended Malt Scotch....$67.99
MacNair’s Lum Reek 12-year-old combines Single Malts from Islay and Speyside – two of the most renowned whisky producing regions in Scotland. The recipe, created by industry veteran and Master Distiller/Blender of the Year, Billy Walker, includes both peated and unpeated whiskies, including aged GlenAllachie single malt.
The small batch expression was matured at The GlenAllachie Distillery in a combination of first fill Bourbon, Pedro Ximénez and red wine casks until the whisky reached its optimum. The consequential bronze spirit, offered without added colouring or chill-filtration, reveals sophisticated notes of sweet peat reek, warming mocha, Scottish heather, and butterscotch.

Matured in a combination of re-charred red wine casks, oloroso sherry butts and bourbon barrels, a few drops of water were added post maturation to produce a Batch Strength of 57% abv. The result is a colossal dram combining the natural peat smoke and citrus character of Kilchoman with dark fruits, rich spices and salted caramel sweetness.
