Varietal Composition: 95% Sangiovese, 5% Colorino
Intense, ruby red color. Structured and concentrated wine, it shows scents of little red berries and flowers as typical of Sangiovese, yet with lively acidity.
Vinified by using grapes from the best areas of Chianti, the fruits comes primarily from the Rufina region. Fattoria di Basciano produces this wine for early drink-ability: however, we find this Chianti can be cellared for a few years.

The 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva Bossona is deeply alluring yet still needs to unwind a bit more. It’s dark in nature yet floral, with ripe black cherries, balsam herbs, hints of cacao and smoke. This enters the palate soft and silky, energized by brilliant acidity, with candied ginger giving way to red currants and finally, a coating of fine tannin toward the close. Both savory and sweet, this tapers off with a herbal and floral thrust and a twang of salted licorice. Brava; what a beauty. Great Divide Brewing Company Hoss Oktoberfest Lager
HOSS is based on the Märzen lagers of Germany. Rich, layered malt notes, with hints of cherry and dark fruits, dominate, while the unique addition of rye imparts a slightly earthy, spicy character. Hoss finishes crisp and dry, and its brilliant red-orange color is a toast to the sunsets that make the perfect backdrop for this beer.

Nikolaihof is one of the oldest wine estates in Austria, whose history goes back almost 2000 years to the Roman empire. Originally chosen by the Romans because it was considered a Celtic holy site prior to 800 B.C., the foundations of the current house date to a Roman tower which existed as early as 63 B.C. Wine has been produced here since the time of the Celts and continued throughout the time of the Romans. Germanic monks obtained the estate during the collapse of Rome, and the first written evidence of winemaking comes from 470 A.D. This writing documented the monk’s ownership of the vineyard ‘Im Weingebirge’, the earliest named vineyard site in all of Europe.

Previously called Im Weingebirge, the 2020 Grüner Veltliner Federspiel comes along without single-vineyard designation and opens intense and aromatic on the nose that is deep, precise and focused and reveals perfectly ripe and intense fruit. Round and lush on the palate, this is a mouth-filling, salty-piquant and mineral structured Federspiel with substance, grip and a sustainable finish. 12% alcohol. Tasted at the domaine in June 2021.

Johannes Hirsch blends fruit from several of his first-class vineyard sites—including Lamm and Gaisberg—for this wine. The result in 2019 is opulent, a grüner veltliner that’s lemon-bright and creamy. A leesy richness builds into the wine, adding texture without weight, so that it feels like a cloud in the mouth, if clouds were made of candied lemon peel, powdered rocks and meringue.

Sliced lemons and honey with some walnuts and stone. It’s medium-bodied with a pretty core of fruit and a walnut undertone at the end. Pineapple, too.
