Casa Dragones Joven Tequila

Back in stock!
Casa Dragones Joven
Tequila...$259.99
Dubbed the “Tastemaker’s Top Tequila” by Forbes Magazine, Casa Dragones Joven is a small batch, limited edition, 100% Blue Agave Tequila, a master blend of silver tequila and extra aged tequila, rested in new American oak barrels for 5 years, for a complex, smooth taste that is perfect for sipping and pairing with food.

Although billed as a joven, this Tequila is blended with a touch of aƱejo. The end result is extraordinarily smooth, with a very sweet, fruity, almost wine-like nose but a bold, pure peppery flavor that finishes cleanly. The packaging is gift-worthy, presenting the bottle in a gold-and-robin's egg blue box, like a precious jewel.

Jack Daniels Legacy Bottling

Jack Daniels Legacy Bottling...$22.99 / 750ml
43% ABV (not 40% like the black label)

HERE'S TO COLORFUL BEGINNINGS
Jack Daniel’s is known for being a well-crafted, smooth sippin’ Tennessee Whiskey. You don’t last for over 150 years if you’re not a quality product, after all. We’ve become known for something else along the way too: our iconic black and white label. But what people may not know is that the history of our label wasn’t always so black and white.
Some time before 1904 our bottles were a rather unexpected shade of green with an eye-catching gold trim. And as unusual as that may seem, it’s just one of the many labels in Old No. 7’s past. You have to be patient to make whiskey, and it seems that Jack took his time landing on the tried-and-true black label we know today. This is the first in our series of Legacy Edition Bottles. Each label we release will celebrate the unique, slightly mysterious history of Old No. 7.

Vieux Donjon Chateauneuf du Pape Magnum

2016 Vieux Donjon Chateauneuf du Pape...$129.99 / Magnum
The 2016 ChĆ¢teauneuf-du-Pape is unquestionably the greatest wine made from this estate to date and surpasses the 1998, 2007, and 2010. Checking in as a normal blend of 75% Grenache, 10% each of Syrah and MourvĆØdre, and the balance Cinsault, it offers a heavenly bouquet of blackcurrants, ground pepper, new saddle leather, garrigue, and an assortment of exotic spices. Deep, full-bodied, incredibly concentrated, yet with the purity, elegance, and finesse that makes this vintage so special, it can be drunk any time over the coming two decades or more. Bravo!

Clso St. Jean Magnums

2015 Clos St Jean Chateauneuf du Pape V.V.... $99.99 / 1.5ltr
A special cuvĆ©e produced for the American importer, Eric Solomon, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is huge. It blends 85% or more concrete-aged Grenache with small amounts of Syrah and MourvĆØdre aged in barrique. The result is a massive wine filled with red fruit. The tannins are ripe to the point of creaminess on the mid-palate then firm up on the long finish. This hides its alcohol better than the regular cuvĆ©e and should age longer as a result.

2016 Clos St Jean Chateauneuf du Pape V.V....$99.99 / magnum
The same Grenache-dominated blend as the base cuvĆ©e, the 2016 ChĆ¢teauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes comes from older vines and is released solely for the US market. It’s a step up and is reminiscent of the 2010 with its depth, concentration, and purity. Black cherries, kirsch, licorice, and crushed rock notes all emerge from this ultra-fine, beautifully polished 2016 that does everything right. Don’t miss it.

2016 Clos St Jean Combe Fous Chateauneuf du Pape...$219.99 / Magnum
Deep ruby-colored and offering a heavenly bouquet of black raspberries, toasted spiced, cured meats, licorice, and cured meats, the 2016 ChĆ¢teauneuf-du-Pape Combes des Fous is awesome on the palate, with a silky, seamless profile that just keeps on going. Possessing ultra-fine tannin, no hard edges, and a huge finish, it’s a phenomenal bottle of wine. The fact that it was bottled just one month ago makes this showing even more impressive.

98 Point CDP Pegau Magnum

2009 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Laurence...$269.99 / Magnum
Starting off the reds and easily the best example of this cuvee since the 2001, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Laurence is incredible stuff. Deep, rich and layered, with copious notions of smoked meats, licorice, ground pepper, spice and saddle leather, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, terrific fruit intensity and a rich, mouth-coating texture. Hard to resist now, it should nevertheless have two decades of longevity. Drink now-2029.

2016 Bosquet des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle - Magnum

2016 Bosquet des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle...$139.99 1.5ltr
The all whole-bunch 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes is 85% Grenache, with the balance a mix of MourvĆØdre and Syrah. The vines are all 80 to 90 years old, selected from parcels in BrusquiĆØres, Gardiole, Mont-Redon and Pignan. Glorious raspberry and cherry fruit picks up hints of mint and some stemmy notes, but they're remarkably well-integrated and should be completely absorbed within a couple of years. Full-bodied, rich and creamy in texture, this tour de force remains lively, silky and long on the finish. With 1,000 cases produced, it should be reasonably priced and reasonably available—an increasingly rare combination in ChĆ¢teauneuf-du-Pape.
Rated 97/100 Wine Advocate
The 2016 ChĆ¢teauneuf-du-Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes is much more classic in style when compared to the La Gloire de Mon Grand-PĆØre. It’s a non-destemmed blend of 86% Grenache and the balance equal parts MourvĆØdre and Syrah, aged in a mix of foudre, concrete tanks, and demi-muids. Classic notes of black fruits, smoked herbs, seaweed, licorice, and pepper as well tons of minerality all emerge from this powerful, full-bodied, structured 2016 that has the purity of fruit and balance that’s the hallmark of this great, great vintage. Forget bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

Magnums of Janasse CDP

2016 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape...$113.99 / MAGNUM

Moving to the ChĆ¢teauneuf-du-Pape from bottle, the 2016 vintage was described as having the power of 2010 and similar to yet fresher than 2007. The 2016 ChĆ¢teauneuf-du-Pape offers a great bouquet of black raspberries, tapenade, crushed violets, and spring flowers, and shares lots of similarities to the Chaupin cuvĆ©e (and it’s less expensive!). Full-bodied, incredibly elegant and seamless, it might be the finest traditional cuvĆ©e ever produced from this estate.
Rated 95/100 Jeb Dunnuck
Rated 93/100 The Wine Advocate

2016 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape V.V....$188.99 / MAGNUM
Bottled at the same time, the 2016 ChĆ¢teauneuf-du-Pape CuvĆ©e Vieilles Vignes gives up more cassis, tapenade, underbrush, cured meats, and earth, and it’s a slightly more dense, backward wine compared to the Chaupin. Full-bodied and beautifully concentrated, with tons of structure, it stays fresh and elegant, has sweet tannins, and a blockbuster finish. It's an incredible, borderline perfect wine from this estate that will keep for two decades or more.
Almost perfect!

2011 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape V.V....$179.99 / MAGNUM
And a candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is always a rough blend of 85% Grenache and the balance Syrah, Mourvedre, Clairette and other permitted varieties, that has the Grenache aged all in foudre and the Syrah and Mourvedre aged in one-third new barrels (that’s less than 6% of the blend in new barrels). Exhibiting gorgeous black fruits, spice-box, toast, licorice and roasted meat-like qualities on the nose, it is full-bodied, concentrated and layered on the palate, with loads of texture, yet delivers no weight, heat, or ever puts a foot wrong. Shockingly good in the vintage, it should not be missed. Hats off to Christophe and Isabelle. Drink now-2027.
Rated 96/100 The Wine Advocate

2011 Janasse Chateauneuf du Pape Chaupin....$179.99 / MAGNUM
Coming from a cooler, sandy terroir in the northeastern part of the appellation, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin (which comes 80% from the Chaupoin lieu-dit and 20% from the La Janasse lieu-dit, hence the subtle name change) is 100% Grenache, from vines planted in 1912, that’s aged two-thirds in foudre and one-third in demi-muid. Gorgeous all around, with plenty of similarities to the traditional cuvee, yet slightly richer and fuller, it delivers beautiful mulled red and black fruits, licorice, spice and tinges of stony minerality on the nose. Full-bodied, supple, seamless and elegant, with fine tannin, it makes the most of a difficult vintage and is certainly one of the top 10-12 wines. Drink now-2023.

Firestone Walker Peach Bones....$11.99 / 375ml
Another offering from our “Bones” series, featuring the fermentation of fresh fruit. In this instance California white peaches from Sanger, CA are fermented with a brett’d saison that has been maturing four months in French oak barrels. The synergy between fresh peach, wild microflora and oak components create a bright white peach flavor mingling with spicy yeast and oak aromas. Soft acidity and a firm carbonation lend “pop” to the overall sensory experience. It took four separate fermentations to create this concoction. SantĆ©!

2015 Wines of Substance Cabernet "Powerline"....$44.98
Wafting from the glass with notes of rich red and black fruits, cigar tobacco, petroleum jelly and spice, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Powerline Vineyard is the richest, most lavish and velvety bottling in the Wines of Substance portfolio, cutting a broad swath across the palate. Full-bodied, ample and generous, it boasts plenty of savory complexity and concludes with a dry, saline finish. Dramatic and characterful, it's immensely appealing. Sadly, at 239 cases, it's the smallest of all these cuvƩes too.

All from the Sundance Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope, the 2015 Syrah The Deal (100% Syrah, not destemmed and aged in 30% new puncheons) offers smoking notes of red and black fruits, black olive, smoked earth and a huge meatiness. Full-bodied, silky and seamless, with a rock, mineral, backward style.

2012 K Vintners Syrah "The Hustler"...$114.98
Still in barrel at the time of this tasting, the 2012 Syrah The Hustler is a blockbuster-styled Syrah that's overflowing with notions of sweet red and black fruits, toasted bread, cured meats and cedar. Only made in special vintages (it was previously made in '03, '07 and '09) and aged 38 months in French oak, it's full-bodied, decadent and layered, with a weightless, elegant, seamless feel. Coming all from the Morrison Lane Vineyard (it's actually the Morrison Lane Syrah with extended barrel aging), it should be ready to go on release and dish out tons of pleasure over the following decade or more. The extended elevage has given this a more upfront feel, yet I suspect it will also allow it age more slowly as well.

2014 Robert Foley arrived

2014 Robert Foley Claret...$121.99
The 2014 Claret is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot coming from Calistoga, Howell Mountain and Mt. Veeder. This represents 600 cases of a large-boned, virile, big, juicy blackcurrant and blackberry-scented and flavored Cabernet Sauvignon with some background toast, licorice and forest floor. It has terrific richness, sweet, velvety tannin, and notable opulence and length. Drink it over the next 15 or so years.
Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate

2014 Robert Foley Cabernet Sauvignon...$89.99
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Calistoga, Mt. Veeder and Atlas Peak) is essentially the same size, maybe slightly more concentrated, with more noticeable tannin, but again, much like most wines from this vintage, it possesses wonderful, charming, nearly irresistibly ripe, juicy fruit, succulence, opulence and a medium to full-bodied personality. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.

Lagunitas Mozango

Lagunitas Mozango....$3.59 / 22oz
The flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing. So, what's at the heart of it? Is it the patient and diligent servant or the committed messenger, through their many routes and vessels? The salient soldier, slinging suds on the front lines daily, or the very brewers themselves? The answer is... we can't tell you here. From seed to sprout to fruit, and back to seed, we're all tangled on the same vine. And while fruit is momentary, the roots hold on for another season. It's all just a matter of perspective...
