Mount Fishtail Sauvignon Blanc Zero

Non-Alcoholic!
Mount Fishtail Sauvignon Blanc Zero...$16.99 / 750ml
Tasting Notes:  Fresh and expressive, this Sauvignon Blanc opens with lifted aromas of ripe passionfruit and citrus blossom. The palate offers zesty lime, tropical fruit, and a hint of minerality, finishing crisp and refreshing.
Winemaker Notes: Mount Fishtail burst onto the scene a few short vintages ago, as the first Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to be made with French clones. One has to remember that more than 80% of all Marlborough SB’s are made with fruit that is contract grown and contract processed. This means that there is little control over yield sizes, picking regimens, processing methods and winemaker manipulation. The fact that the vast majority of all Kiwi SB is made with a single clone, called UCD1, and is processed in the same way, with (often) over-cropped fruit, suggests that consumers are unlikely to tell the difference from one wine to the other, since they all taste so alike. Mount Fishtail is very different.

In the rapidly emerging non-alcoholic space, one of the biggest criticisms from the trade, is that the removal of alcohol strips the wine of its natural and characteristic flavors. In an effort to be better than the rest, the decision was made to ship this wine in bulk to Belgium for the alcohol removal process, as they have some of the world’s best evaporative distillation facilities. All that New Zealand could offer, was spinning cone technology. The wine is then finished and bottled over there, and shipped from Antwerp to California. The decision to make the wine this way, has resulted in a wine that tastes and drinks like Marlborough Sauv Blanc – and we are extremely proud of it.

St. Feuillien Cuvée de Noël

St. Feuillien Cuvée de Noël...$22.99 / 4pk 11.2oz bottles
St. Feuillien Cuvée de Noël...$5.99 / 11.2oz bottle

St. Feuillien was a 7 th -century monk, an Irishman slain in the wilds of what is now Wallonian Belgium. In 1873 the Friart family, in conjunction with a foundation dedicated to the memory and good works of St. Feuillien, began producing fine Authentic Abbey Ales. Five generations later, the Friart family is still in charge of the brewery and proceeds from each sale go to the Foundation formed in St. Feuillien’s name.

St. Feuillien Cuvée de Noël is a fine top fermented Abbey Ale. Its slightly brown color is the result of the roasted barley. This beer has a smoothness that is the result of the synergy of caramelized malts, carefully controlled fermentation and long cold storage. St-Feuillien Cuvée de Noël is a harmonious ale that strikes a perfect balance between all of the different ingredients. Dark ruby brown color, St. Feuillien Cuvée de Noël boasts: • Aromatic herbs and spices, • Full-bodied, • Subtle bitterness and • A generous head – compact and firm.

2023 Jadot Releases at Kirkwood

2023 Louis Jadot Pernand-Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre 1er CruRouge...$54.99
This clos is not far from the village of Pernand, on calcareous, stony soil, facing east. The Croix de Pierre is a large stone cross at the entrance to the vineyard. Most of the vineyard is planted to Pinot Noir. The fruit is fermented in tanks, and then the wine is matured in oak barrels for about 15 months before bottling.

Aromas of cherries, raspberries and petals introduce the 2021 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Clos de la Croix de Pierre (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot), a medium-bodied, fleshy, giving, open-knit wine that will offer charming drinking young.
Rated 89-91/100 Wine Advocate

2023 Louis Jadot (Famille Gagey) Savigny-Les-Beaune Clos des Guettes 1er Cru...$58.99
The commune of Savigny-lès-Beaune is in the north of the Côte de Beaune and produces 90% red wines. Les Guettes is located in the middle of the commune on gravely, stony chalk soil. It faces south–southeast at 220 meters to 360 meters in altitude. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to one month, and then the wine is matured in oak barrels for 12 to 15 months before bottling.

Floral and perfumed with aromas of rose petals, crushed blueberries, hibiscus and cherries. The palate is fresh and precise with finely integrated tannins and a textural, chalky, tightly wound mouthfeel. Lovely tension and lightness. This has great aging potential, albeit drinking well now. Delicious. Drink or hold.
Rated 94/100 James Suckling

2023 Heritiers Louis Jadot Beaune Clos des Ursules Monopole 1er Cru...$118.99
Clos des Ursules is a historic Beaune vineyard and key to the Jadot origin story as the first parcel acquired in 1826. The vineyard is a sub-climate of the Vignes Franches terroir and is divided into two sections (upper & lower) with a landmark stone hut in the center. Soils are deep red clay which tend to impart structure and elegance to the wines. Pinot Noir here is harvested manually and brought to the nearby winery for triage, destemming, and natural fermentation in passive oak vats. After alcoholic fermentation is complete the wine is racked into oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and extended aging. Approximately 16 months later the cuvee is reassembled for bottling.

There’s a lovely depth of fruit here with lifted, perfumed aromas of cherries, rose petals, blood oranges, hibiscus and terra-cotta. The medium-bodied palate has a silky, rounded mouthfeel, supported by fine-grained tannins. A great balance between freshness and power, offering immediate drinking pleasure and good aging potential. Drink or hold.

Amazing press across the board!
Could this make the Wine Spectator top 100??  We hope!

2021 Monsanto Chianti Classico Riserva...$29.99
Outstanding vintage for Chianti!
This luscious, dense red is packed with cherry, blackberry, pomegranate and violet flavors. Its tannins are ripe and refined, while the vibrant acidity keeps everything focused. An iron streak weaves through the long, energetic finish. This is approachable now yet will be better in 2–3 years.
Rated 95/100 Wine Spectator
A deep and complex wine with licorice, dried cherries, pomegranates, bergamot and violets on the nose. Soft on the palate, it’s powerful and extracted yet not without grace due to velvety tannins, a full body and tight-knit acidity. Super-tense finish. Drink or hold.

FX Pichler Austrian Wines

 Great Wines for Thanksgiving!

Available at Kirkwood and online

F.X. Pichler wines are praised for their complexity, elegance, and minerality, with a reputation for producing some of Austria's best Grüner Veltliner and Riesling.

2023 FX Pichler Gruner Veltliner Durnsteiner...$42.99
Wines bearing the name of DÜRNSTEIN refer to the designation of origin of some fabulous village wines. Under this name we bottle wines from grapes hand-picked from a selection of terraced mountain vineyards. The grapes derive predominantly from younger plots, or from sites not harvested for a “Ried” single-vineyard growth wine, and from vineyards in the plains around the municipality of Dürnstein. This vineyard blend is enticing and invigorating, with sappy and subtle mineral characters.

The impressive interplay of restrained richness and very animating mineral acidity is what gives this excellent gruner veltliner its pronounced personality. Long, wild herb finish that’s simultaneously compact and refreshing. A cuvee of about half vineyards on the plain and half young vines on the steep, terraced vineyards of the region. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
Rated 94/100 James Suckling

2023 FX Pichler Riesling Ried Loibenberg...$79.99
Every winegrowing nation has coined its own word for the specific geographic site of a prized vineyard. In Germany, it is known as the “Lage”, in France it’s the “Cru” and in Austria, we refer to it as the “Ried”.

This unique site is situated at the most eastern end of the Wachau, between the Loibenberg and the Pfaffenberg. The old vineyard name is “Steingraben”, as its form depicts a rift, which broadens into an amphitheatre as it reaches down towards the vineyard landscape in Unterloiben. The site is clearly characterized by its proximity to the nearby forest, from which nocturnal northerly breezes cool the vineyard as they pass through on their current towards the Danube. This makes Steinertal the cool, slow ripening single-vineyard site within the Loibner vineyards, which is unique in its ideal harvest picking time and mineral character.

Extremely deep and complex with a wonderful tension between the ripe Mandarin oranges, tobacco leaves and spicy aromas, plus giant crushed-rock minerality. Despite the cornucopia of yellow fruit, this is only 12.5% alcohol, giving the finish a wind-blown quality that defies your expectations of a very warm vineyard site. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold.

2021 Mark Herold Uproar Cabernet

Great Cabernet at a new low price for November/December!

2021 Mark Herold Uproar Cabernet Sauvignon...$48.99 - SALE PRICE
Regular Price $64.99

From acclaimed winemaker Mark Herold of Merus fame and former oneologist at Joseph Phelps. Mark is known for his bold, decadent Napa Cabs. His motto is "live large and drink well" - taste this wine and you will understand!

The 2021 Uproar is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from multiple pedigree vineyards within Napa Valley. At first impression this wine is a deeply layered aromatic avalanche of brooding, head-spinning notes of ripe blackberry purée, cranberries, raspberry liqueur, black currants in cream, crushed rock and mocha. Subtler aromas of graphite, suede leather, sage brush, and dried orange peel add yet more dimension and complexity. The Uproar is opulent, soft, lush and pure decadence with an extreme sense of power and balance. Mouth-filling savory black and red fruits dominate and further complemented by silky tannins and a satisfyingly lengthy finish.

This pumps a steady drumbeat of cassis, plum reduction and black licorice notes, with a ripple of roasted apple wood adding to the finish. Solidly grippy and should age nicely. Best from 2026 through 2038.

Millpond Brewing Trash Bears Collab with Little Lager

Millpond Brewing Trash Bears...$16.99 / 4pk 16oz cans
Millpond Brewing Trash Bears...$4.89 / 16oz cans
COLLAB WITH LITTLE LAGER
When we first visited our friends at Little Lager and tried their Bitter Bears I immediately asked which gummy bears they used.
After hearing the brand, I replied “THOSE ARE TRASH BEARS”, and strongly advocated for another gummy bear brand…and still do every time I visit.
Brewed with Rahr Old World Pilsner Malt, Rice, and CaraPils, “Trash Bears” is an unfiltered Cold IPA with Columbus, Citra, and Mosaic.
While we might not agree on each other’s gummy bear preference, we agree that this brew is clean and crisp with a medium-low body, flavors of tropical fruit, grapefruit, slight dankness, and a pleasant citrusy herbal aroma.

Hanabi Pilsner

New Release - if you have not tried their beer - they are amazing!
Founder Nick Gislason comes from the wine world (Screaming Eagle)

Hanabi Hourani Pilsner...$14.99 / 500ml
2025 Autumn Release

This beer showcases Hourani, an ancient wheat variety recovered from the ruins of the Roman–Biblical era fortress of Masada in present-day Israel in the 1960s. Before the Roman siege, the city’s inhabitants buried these seeds for safekeeping. Recently revived by Elizabeth DeRuff and Honore Farm & Mill, it was grown organically and regeneratively in Northern California at Full Belly Farm—an early supplier to the famed Chez Panisse. Brewed as a Pilsner-style lager, Hourani is fragrant and complex, with notes of fresh straw, mint, and exotic spices. The palate is generous, with long length and invigorating energy.

Why Hanabi lagers are so expensive?

1. Heritage & heirloom grains

Hanabi uses rare and nearly extinct grain varieties—like Haná barley (from the Czech Haná Valley) and ancient Bere barley—grown by a handful of farms Hanabi Lager. These grains are painstakingly sourced and cultivated, making them costly.

2. Small-batch production & meticulous process
Founded by winemakers, Hanabi treats brewing like winemaking—focusing heavily on terroir and grain flavor. They experiment, brew test batches, and apply rigorous quality control Hanabi Lager Co. This craftsmanship, paired with very small volumes, drives up the cost per bottle.

3. Lager-specific brewing challenges
Lagers take much longer to produce—often 5+ weeks including fermentation and conditioning—and require tight temperature control and oxygen management. This ties up expensive tank space and demands precision at every step

4. Premium winemaker (now beer maker)
Founder Nick Gislason comes from the wine world (Screaming Eagle), and markets these beers much like high-end wines: heirloom grain varietals, deeply personal provenance, and artistic intention. Nick is the current winemaker at Screaming Eagle (one of the most best wines made in California and most expensive)

2023 Christophe Lapierre Domaine de Chênepierre Chénas Vieilles Vignes....$16.99
This has lightly spiced mineral character with wild berries, hints of juniper and violets. Medium-bodied, it has polished texture, vivid acidity, a core of fleshy fruit and a round, medium-long finish. Drink now.
Rated 91/100 James Suckling

2023 Chapoutier Combe Pilate Viognier $22.99
Pale gold with aniseed-colored highlights. The nose is delicate with notes of bergamot and flint stone. Very fresh on the palate, dominated by the typical Viognier flavors. On the mid-palate, there is good balance between the acidic tension associated with its terroir of origin and the natural full body of the varietal and its ageing. The finish is savory, bringing out the rustic and mineral overtones.

Aaron's pick for wine of the year!
2023 Domaine Sauzet Haute Cote de Beaune “Jardin du Calvaire” $57.99

The 2023 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Blanc, Jardin du Calvaire, by Etienne Sauzet is a crisp, taut, and tense white with ripe green apple, bright lime notes, and an elegant floral character. Winemaker Benoît Riffault feels that the heat of the vintage helped with ripening; this is not a rigid or tart expression of the Hautes-Côtes. There is some grip and texture behind, though the crisp tang wins out. The finish is really fine, with mouth-watering acidity keeping the alcohol nicely in check. The wine was aged in foudres from François Frères

Coming all from the estate’s sandy soils in the northern part of the appellation, this incredibly concentrated, textured wine has perfect balance, building tannins, and a great finish. 2020 Domaine de la Vieillie Julienne Chateauneuf du Pape Trois Sources
..sale...only $89.99 / 1.5 liter
Was $149.99
Lowest price is $130 on Wine-Searcher
Leading off the three Châteauneuf du Pape releases, the 2020 Châteauneuf du Pape Les Trois Sources comes from three different terroirs located in the northern part of the appellation, just across the street from the domaine. Roasted Provençal garrigue, black licorice, black raspberries, Asian spices, and a hint of cassis all define the bouquet, and it hits the palate with a layered, medium to full-bodied profile that has silky tannins and no hard edges. It's much more up-front and approachable than the more structured Les Hauts-Lieux and is going to drink fabulously well over the coming 15+ years.
Rated 96/100 Jeb Dunnuck
The 2020 Les Trois Sources is a beautifully ripe and pure expression of the vintage, revealing a dense, somber bouquet of mocha, iris, flowers, dark wild berries and subtle garrigue notes. Medium to full-bodied, dense and deep, it is structured around a delicate, fleshy core of fruit, supported by velvety tannins. The mid-palate is elegantly tense and precise, leading to a long, spicy finish with hints of lead pencil. It has the structure to age very nicely for two decades or more.
Rated 94/100 The Wine Advocate
Lovely floral and incense perfume give this a high-toned liveliness despite its full profile. Mocha, balsamic and lavender notes detail the fluid, streamlined palate, with hints of smoked meat and apple wood. Savory acidity powers through, bringing lift to the well-structured finish, marked by graphite intensity that builds. Settling nicely into itself with a few years in bottle, this will only improve with more. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsaut, Mourvèdre and Counoise. Best from 2026 through 2040. 2,200 cases made, 400 cases imported.

El Bandido Blanco Tequila is crafted at NOM 1107 (El Viejito Distillery) in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Made from 100% Blue Weber Agave, this additive-free tequila is twice-distilled in copper pot stills to achieve exceptional clarity and texture. Following distillation, the spirit is oxygenated to refine its mouthfeel and enhance smoothness—a hallmark of El Bandido’s clean production philosophy. The result is a 100% natural, 100% clean tequila that captures pure agave character with notes of baked agave, white pepper, citrus, and a hint of vanilla. Bottled at 40% ABV, El Bandido Blanco delivers a crisp, silky finish that showcases modern technique grounded in traditional craftsmanship.

El Bandido Reposado Tequila...$39.99

Crafted under NOM 1107 at the historic El Viejito Distillery in Los Altos de Jalisco, this Reposado begins with 100% Blue Weber Agave and is twice-distilled in copper pot stills for optimal purity. Post-distillation the spirit is oxygenated to deliver a refined mouth-feel, then matured for 4 months in stripped-and-re-charred American-oak bourbon barrels. Bottled at 40% ABV, it presents notes of citrus and cinnamon layered over baked agave with subtle oak and vanilla. Fully additive-free, this expression holds true to the brand’s promise of “100% natural, 100% clean.”

The 40% ABV pour reveals a refined profile of cooked agave, caramelized butterscotch, vanilla, leather and oak, all within a long, polished finish. Completely additive-free and oxygenated for texture, it exemplifies the “100% natural, 100% clean” ethos

Domaine Clape Saint Peray Blanc

Rare Northern Rhone White!

2020 Domaine Clape Saint Peray Blanc....$85.99
So much candied-citrus character on the nose and on the rich, creamy palate. Surprising freshness lifts the full body and gives the nutty finish considerable length and mineral energy. From one hectare, planted with 80% marsanne and 20% roussanne. Drink or hold.
Rated 94/100 James Suckling
Starts soft and gentle, then the sparkling, bright acidity spreads over the palate. Great purity, balance and roundness; very satisfying. A mix of 60-year-old and seven-year-old vines, vinified in oak.
Rated 94/100 Decanter

Domaine Auguste Clape, a legendary name in the northern Rhône Valley, also produces St-Péray white wines, although they are better known for their iconic Cornas Syrah reds. The St-Péray wines from Clape are highly regarded but produced in limited quantities, making them a hidden gem for white wine enthusiasts.

Fun facts about St. Peray
  • Blend of Marsanne and Roussanne grape
  • Only white wine is made in St. Peray
  • St-Péray is an appellation in the northern Rhône Valley of France.
  • High-quality St-Péray whites like Domaine Clape's can age gracefully, developing complex notes of honey, nuts, and dried fruits over time
  • St-Péray is one of the smallest appellations in the Rhône Valley, making its wines relatively rare and sought-after by wine enthusiasts.

Graham's 50yr Tawny Port

Graham's 50yr Tawny Port...$575.99 / 750ml
There's a warm, comforting feel to the massive core of date, wood spice, alder, hazelnut and green fig notes, carried by taut but deeply buried acidity. As the finish stretches out, this just keeps offering more and more, with toffee, bitter orange, mulled persimmon, caramelized frangipane and date bread aspects emerging. Shows jaw-dropping range, power and definition, with a viscosity that flirts with an Essencia-like feel. Drink now. 250 cases made, 38 cases imported.

The first batch of the year; a little younger and with a slightly lower proof than recent releases. A nose of coconut flakes, cherry pie, vanilla, and cigar wrapper leads to a palate that’s powerful, with dark chocolate, cinnamon, and pepper spice. Water brings out strawberry and citrus.
