Grab a bottle of this amazing red blend from Portugal

2020 Quinta to Popa Douro Reserve Red...$21.99
A red with a very complex nose. Clear notes of fruit but also woodsy gives that gives it personality. In the mouth, it is a precise and elegant wine throughout the tasting, with a long finish and good ageing potential.

50% in French oak barrels for 9 to 10 months.

Domaine Despesse Cornas

We are honored to get the only allocation of this wine in Missouri.  Most of his very limited 100% Syrah wines are reserved for only top restaurants in France.  Very little leaves France!!  We are lucky to have a few cases of each

Check out the tiny production of these!  Do not sleep on these

2022 Domaine J. Despesse Cornas...$59.99
Only 125 cases made
He is considered on the same level as Allemand, Clape and Jamet
From the young Jerome Despesse’s estate located in the southern part of Cornas...not far from what you can find from Allemand or Clape)" -- Jeb Dunnuck
J. Despesse is all about quality, he did not produce a wine a Cornas in 2021 as he did not feel it was up to his standards.  This wine comes from a lieu-dit at the Southern end of Cornas called Les Côtes. These old vines, planted by his grandfather more than fifty years ago, are located right next to those of Auguste Clape. They come specifically from a tiny plot called Le Craux that produces less than 125 cases per year!!!

Cotes du Rhone that includes Cornas!!!!!!!!!
J. Despesse Cotes du Rhone Ephemere...$28.99
Only 100 cases made!

He sold off most of his Cornas from 2021 but saved what he felt was the best and blended it into his Cotes du Rhone. It is a non-vintage blend from two years (2021 and 2022) and contains his 2021 Cornas!!  He did not bottle a 2021 Cornas. It is an amazing 100% Syrah Cotes du Rhone.  We got very little of this lush Cotes du Rhone

Pairing a French Syrah from Cornas, particularly known for its rich, full-bodied profile, with the right cheese can be an extraordinary experience. Cornas Syrahs are intense and bold, offering flavors of dark fruits like blackberry and plum, along with earthy, peppery, and sometimes smoky notes. With this in mind, you'll want a cheese that can stand up to the wine’s complexity without overpowering it.

Wine and Cheese Pairing!

Pairing cheese with Syrah!

St. Agur Blue cheese

  • Complementing the Wine’s Earthy and Spicy Notes: The earthy undertones of Blue  echo the Syrah's minerality, while its mild spiciness highlights the wine’s peppery character.
  • Taming the Tannins: Cornas Syrahs can have firm tannins due to their robust structure, and the creaminess of the cheese helps to soften and mellow these tannins, making the wine feel smoother on the palate.
  • Balancing the Fruit: The salty, slightly sharp bite of the blue cheese cuts through the dark fruit of the Syrah, offering contrast and balance. The wine’s lush fruit profile counters the saltiness, creating a harmonious back-and-forth between sweetness and savoriness.

Tasting Experience:

Take a small bite of St. Agur Blue, and let its creamy texture coat your tongue. As you sip the Cornas Syrah, notice how the dark blackberry and plum fruit tones interact with the cheese’s richness, creating a luxurious mouthfeel. The wine’s tannic grip softens, while the earthy and peppery elements from both wine and cheese intertwine, building layers of complexity.

Always a great value, the 2022 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard is light gold-hued with classy notes of ripe stone fruits, flower oil, toasted bread, and honeyed orange-like nuances. With medium-bodied richness, a round, lush mouthfeel, beautifully integrated oak, and a great finish, it tastes like it costs two to three times its price. Drink bottles over the coming 3-4 years. Rounded cranberry and cherry aromas pick up rustic notes of chaparral and charred meat on the nose of this bottling, which is widely available and fairly priced. The palate is packed with toasted sage and marjoram flavors that enliven the blood orange and pomegranate core.
Rated 92/100 The Wine Enthusiast
The value-priced 2022 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard comes from a site in the Santa Maria Valley and was brought up in 22% new French oak. Its translucent ruby hue is followed impressive notes of ripe cherry and strawberry fruits supported by pretty spice, flora, and leafy herb-like aromas and flavors. A wine that would hand many a Village Burgundy its ass, it's well worth buying and drinking over the coming 3-5 years.

2022 J. Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay

2022 J. Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay...$12.99
Though the production level of this wine is rather massive, the quality does not suffer. Aromas of lemon chiffon cake and wet stone are engaging on the nose. The palate starts with a tantalizing acidity and stony texture, giving edge to the richer cream and vanilla-meringue flavors that arise by the finish.
Rated 92/100 The Wine Enthusiast
Cooked apples, ripe pineapple, honeysuckle and hints of caramel on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied with a creamy texture. Generous and rich, with a fruity and slightly waxy aftertaste. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
