While doing an inventory audit, Old Potrero found an almost 7 year old single barrel bottled and hidden away in their warehouse.   Since we have done a number of single barrels with them, they offered it to us.  We jumped at the opportunity to grab this amazing barrel!   We scored it at a great price too, only $45 a bottle while their current single barrels all sell for $80 or more!!!

The 2022 Lytton Springs 50th Anniversary is composed of 67% Zinfandel, 19% Petite Sirah, 11% Carignane and 3% Alicante Bouschet. It opens with initial touches of glossy new American oak—dill and toasted coconut—and gives way to kaleidoscopic black and red plums, cherries and berries, plus accents of hibiscus and potpourri. The full-bodied palate features generous, spicy flavors. It’s structured by abundant, powdery tannins and lively acidity and has a long, detailed finish. Winemaker Shauna Rosenblum says this 2022 was crafted using only American oak, a shift from the blend of French and American oak used in the past. It has resulted in a particularly pure, transparent expression that opens dramatically with air, and this 2022 Lytton Springs will benefit from several years in the cellar.

Truckle is the old English word for a cylinder shape. Traditionally, most Old World cheddars are formed into truckles, not blocks, hence the name and shape of this cheddar.

In Jamesport, Missouri, the Flory family crafts approximately 50 truckles a day from the raw milk of their 30 Jersey cows. The truckles are bandaged in cheese cloth, coated in lard, and aged on wooden shelves for 60 days before traveling to Iowa’s Milton Creamery, the same farm that crafts our best-selling cheese, Prairie Breeze, where they continue to mature for least 12 months. Introducing Siempre Exclusivo Muerto, the latest ultra-limited release in Siempre’s Exclusivo series, crafted for those who seek the extraordinary. Co-founder Alex Lacroix and Master Tequilero Sergio Cruz (of the renowned Vivanco family distillery, NOM 1414) have pushed the boundaries of traditional tequila production, delivering an experience unlike anything seen in modern tequila.

Muerto embarks on a world-first journey by allowing the yeast to die, evolve, and rest over a three-week “afterlife,” building complexity much like the malolactic fermentation found in the finest rums. The process is enhanced by the Mozart method, playing classical music during fermentation, which helps deepen the connection between agave and yeast.

Two Distinctive Batches:

• Batch One: Agave from the Puerta de la Carreta fields, wild-fermented for 28 days.
• Batch Two: Agave from Capulin Verde, wild-fermented with fibers for 32 days.

Kutna Hora Brewery

Timeline:

• The Kutná Hora Brewery, with origins dating back to 1573
• Heineken acquired the brewery and subsequently closed it in 2009, ceasing local production.
• This closure led to frustration among beer enthusiasts, as the brand was cherished by locals and had a strong market presence. 
• In response, a local entrepreneur revitalized the brewery at its historic site, resuming production in February 2017.

Kutná Hora is an old medieval town whose importance, prosperity and size nearly comparable to Prague at the time and this was mainly due to the local silver mines. No wonder then that it had established its brewery as early as 15th century which in turn that soon became notorious for high-quality beer. This has remained the case up until modern ages when Heineken bought the brewery only to close it within the brief period of time.

The closure brought about a major frustration among beer drinkers as the brand was being loved by locals and doing very well on the market. Luckily, this was not to last for long as a local entrepreneur restarted brewing at the same historical premises and the brewery is at high demand again. There is a reason: The Kutná Hora 12 is now considered one of the best pilsener type Real Bohemian Lager on the market.

Original ingredients, double mashing, open fermentation and traditional cellars are all parts of the fantastic heritage, therefore this beer is now enjoyed not only locally, but also in Prague and many other European markets.

The 2019 Saint-Péray is a richer, almost full-bodied white offering lots of white peach and stone fruit notes as well as hints of honeysuckle, spice, and toast. It picks up a riveting sense of salinity and minerality on the palate and has terrific balance and a great finish. It’s well worth seeking out and possibly the finest white I’ve tasted from this estate.
