El Enemigo - big scores!!

Argentine Cabernet Franc! Yep its a thing and we are fully on board.

Having been in the St Louis wine business for almost 20 years it has become increasingly rare that I am both thoroughly impressed and fascinated by a winery and their take on a particular varietal. Well, I can tell you having tasted the array of Cabernet Franc from Bodega Aleanna's El Enemigo Winery, Argentine Cabernet Franc is the real deal and these wines are truly world class. We have two large shipments coming in, the first of which just arrived. Stay tune for the next drop in October.

First off we have the “Entry Level” Cabernet Franc, which to my taste is as enjoyable a red wine under $30 as I have had in years. Combing the fruit and power Argentina is known for with the finesse and elegance of Cabernet Franc and just a touch of a savory note on the finish from the whole cluster pressing.

2014 Bodega Aleanna El Enemigo Cabernet Franc...$22.99
The 2014 El Enemigo Cabernet Franc is pure Cabernet Franc from Gualtallary fermented with 50% whole clusters. It felt riper than the 2013, and there are less herbal aromas and more notes from the plum-like spectrum. What I like here is the tastiness in the palate and the fine tannins, the chalky sensation that provides an almost salty finish. The palate is a lot fresher than the nose points at and the acidity is quite high. It slowly develops a note of curry, getting spicier and spicier in the glass. 35,000 bottles produced.

Also available now is the 2010 Bodega Aleanna Gran Enemigo Cabernet Franc Agrelo. A wine that I would not hesitate to serve alongside the heavy hitters of Bordeaux and Napa Valley. This wine possesses the depth of flavor and seamless texture that make for an absolutely brilliant experience. Don't hesitate to pop the cork now this wine is open for business and drinking wonderfully.
2010 Bodega Aleanna Gran Enemigo Cabernet Franc Agrelo...$94.99
El Gran Enemigo SV Agrelo is deep purple with red highlights. Its aromas are intense and elegant. Cabernet Franc brings light notes of eucalyptus and thyme. Malbec brings notes of ripe black fruits, blackberries and black cherries. The oak aging gives a touch of chocolate and vanilla to blend. Excellent balance and elegant. This wine was made in honor of the old Pomerol style where Cabernet Franc was blended with the other Bordeaux varieties.
