Faustian pleasure has consequence, of this you must know. When you go down to the crossroads, expect more than a show Robert Johnson paid dearly, for talent and fame. His deal with the devil, left only his name. Eternal damnation, no chance for retreat. Save only Mr. Daniels', stunning cunning fiddle feat. This devil is in details, diabolical pacts abound. Worldy riches and pleasures, but consequences come 'round. 'Twix Barley and beer, there is liquid sublime'. But this devil is in the details, with consequences in time. Thirty-seven plato, a matter of, a matter of some gravity. A Galaxy of hops, only adds to depravity. Eight months in wood, of Cognac in barrel Mephistopheles you're not, and the devil your peril." - Tom Dalldorf, Celebrator News.

I have one of these, 2 AB Noirs and a few others in my cart but when I checkout and select credit card, it won't display a form to put in my info. What's the deal? Had them in my cart before disabled.

Yea, now I left the page and cart automatically emptied... I can't do these online releases anymore. They are so bogus with how you can have them in your cart and then they just disappear. Thanks anyways.

Just means that it sold out while you were trying to order. Sorry.

The order is not placed until you hit checkout.

That's how pretty much all online shopping carts work. Always check out with the hot item, then go back and do a separate order for the less limited items. I didn't get one either, but there's always other things to drink.

But that's the problem. Having the item in your cart should at least temporarily take the item out of the inventory database, or hold to that customer so that the customer can continue shopping. Instead people can potentially steal items from your cart unless you check out in a blink of an eye. Makes no sense but whatever.

Too easy to abuse. I open multiple browsers and add everything available to the cart. Then I go to lunch. So much for selling anything now! You also have technical issues (browser crashes, now the reserved product could get missed), consumer changing their mind, etc.

It's pretty consistent everywhere that product availability is checked and reserved only at checkout when you've actually paid for the product, not when you add it to your cart.

I didn't get any of these. I didn't see the post until reservations were shut down. It's cool though, because there's always next time and plenty of great beers to be had in between.

Paul, thanks for always allowing a fair chance for beers like these!

^^ There are timed systems. Put item in cart, item is temporarily taken out of inventory and reserved to that IP address, you have 5, 10, 15 min. to complete order until item goes back in stock. Used it before for tickets and other releases successfully.

The timed purchase systems work for tickets because it's a set arrangement each time. With retail, each item would have to be entered separately and maintained constantly to handle things like breakage or theft. It's just not cost effective for retailers to pay someone to be on top of that all the time, nor does it make sense to set up and pay for such a complex system for these limited releases.
