Scribe Pinot Noir Estate

Scribe Winery in Sonoma, Calif. produces vibrant, terroir-driven wines.
The winery–founded in 2007 on a property that pioneered pre-prohibition Sonoma Valley winemaking–is managed by fourth-generation California farmers and brothers, Andrew and Adam Mariani.

Andrew and Adam believe that the best wines are a result of a healthy relationship between man and nature, and that a vineyard managed in harmony with the greater ecosystem results in more site-specific wines that represent a sense of time and place. When vinified with non-interventionist methods, the result is a distinct wine that faithfully reflects what the vineyard naturally expresses.

Natural wine

2017 Scribe Pinot Noir Estate...$49.99
Scribe's organically farmed Estate vineyard on the southwest-facing slope of Arrowhead Mountain. Clones 667, Martini, Pommard and Wadenswill are planted in volcantic tuff and local Huichica Loam.

2017 METEOROLOGICAL DATA: After much needed, record-breaking winter rains lingered into early Spring, the vines came out of dormancy in mid March. Wet soils and mild temperatures moved the vines through to veraison with ease, before several heat waves jumpstarted an early, quick harvest.

SOIL TYPE: Huichica loam, volcanic tuff

Union Mezcal Joven

Union Mezcal Joven...$29.99
Agave: Espadín y Cirial
38% Alc. Vol.

Maestro Mezcalero:
Pedro Hernández

Oaxaca
100% agave

We started a journey to learn more about the greatness of mezcal.
We toured the mountains from peak to peak, reaching a hill where there was a tree and there we rested a bit. An old man shared his mezcal with us, his histories, and his ideas.

The old man told us something that caught our attention; he said that the future of mezcal would
be based on a UNIÓN.

So we continued our journey with a clear understanding of our path: to create a union of mezcal with different producer families. From there Mezcal Unión was born, carrying that message in every bottle.

2015 Montevertrine Le Pergole Torte -- scores huge!

2015 Montevertrine Le Pergole Torte...$132.99
Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2015 Le Pergole Torte is a 100% expression of Sangiovese sourced from the estate's oldest vines (between 30 and 50 years old). Like the other wines from Montevertine, Le Pergole Torte sees both its alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in cement, and the wine later ages in new oak barrels for 12 to 18 months depending on the vintage. After that first phase in barrique, it goes into large botte to complete its integration. This gorgeous vintage opens to a deep, dark appearance with a velvety presentation of dark fruit and black cherry flavors. The wine's textural richness is ultimately what sets this fantastic vintage apart.

Nonino Grappa

Nonino Il Merlot di Grappa....$48.99 / 375ml
Pure, soft and round with scents of rose petals and cherry stones. On the nose it recalls the smell of grape must being pressed.
The pomace, collected when it is fresh and soft, is selected from Merlot grapes. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks under vacuum and in a controlled temperature environment. This is followed immediately by distillation in order to avoid harmful secondary fermentations. Batch method with the removal of the heads and the tails in artisanal batch steam stills renovated by Benito Nonino.
Limited and strictly dependent on the individual year’s harvest.

The flavour of grappa, like that of wine, depends on the type and quality of the grapes used, as well as the specifics of the distillation process. Grappa is made by distilling the skins, pulp, seeds, and stems (i.e., the pomace) left over from winemaking after pressing the grapes. It was originally made to prevent waste by using these leftovers. A similar drink, known as acquavite d'uva, is made by distilling whole must.

In Italy, grappa is primarily served as a digestivo or after-dinner drink. Its main purpose was to aid in the digestion of heavy meals. Grappa may also be added to espresso coffee to create a caffè corretto, meaning "corrected coffee". Another variation of this is the ammazzacaffè ("coffee-killer"): the espresso is drunk first, followed by a few ounces of grappa served in its own glass. In Veneto, there is resentin ("little rinser"): after finishing a cup of espresso with sugar, a few drops of grappa are poured into the nearly empty cup, swirled and drunk down in one sip.

Inga Grappa back in stock

Inga Grappa back in stock at Forsyth

Since 1832 the Inga family has been producing 100% varietal grappa. Focusing only on grappa production, they produce no wine. Lorenzo Inga is the fifth generation of Ingas to run the Inga family grappa business.

Lorenzo Inga is dedicated to producing the finest grappa. Traditional grappa is usually distilled in industrial column stills using the pressings from the winemaker's leftovers stems, seeds, skins and leaves. Lorenzo's method is to purchase the vinacce, the grape skins and pulp from small wineries after only the first pressings being used to make wine. Using these second pressings, presses the grapes and the Lorenzo free-flowing juices retain the grape's aromatics and varietal characteristics. This "must" is then fermented and double distilled in small alambic copper pot stills, like those used for distillation of the finest French cognacs. According to this is the secret to good, varietal grappa. To make sure Lorenzo Inga that it is as fresh as humanly possible, collects thevinacce and distills it within 24 hours of the Lorenzo first pressing, usually within 18 hours.

2013 Domaine Faiveley Les Saint Georges Nuits St Georges 1er Cru...$99.99

was $169.99
Good deep red. Captivating perfume of red berries, tobacco, spices and minerals. Large-scaled, silky and voluptuous, boasting compelling sweetness to its flavors of red fruits, iron, coffee, tobacco, spices and game. Wonderfully sexy, pliant wine with noble tannins and terrific finishing perfume. Much easier to taste today than either the Damodes or the Pôrets-Saint-Georges. In a class of its own among this premier crus from Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Rated 91-94/100 Stephen Tanzer Vinous

2013 Domaine Faiveley Nuits St Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru...$89.99
was $109.99
A pretty red, this delivers strawberry, cherry and mineral flavors matched to a lean, athletic frame. Turns tight on the finish, but this should relax in a year or two. Exhibits a fine, minerally aftertaste. Best from 2019 through 2032.
Rated 92/100 The Wine Spectator

2013 Domaine Faiveley Nuits St Georges Les Porets Saint Georges 1er Cru...$79.99
was $99.99
Pretty dark fruits such as blackberry and blueberry with hints of spice. Full body, tight center palate, and fine tannins. Better in a year or two, but very delicate, firm and delicious.
Rated 91/100 James Suckling

2014 Domaine Faiveley Gevrey Chambertin Combe Aux Moines 1er Cru...$99.99
was $129.99
A pure, cherry- and raspberry-flavored red, accented by smoke, spice and mineral notes. Shows a black pepper side as the flavors play out on the lingering aftertaste. Balanced, but needs time. Best from 2020 through 2035. only 10 cases imported.
Rated 93/100 The Wine Spectator

2014 Domaine Faiveley Gevrey Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru...$89.99
was $103.99
*Sweet Spot - Outstanding*** A background but not invisible application of wood easily allows the cool and pure essence of red and dark berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced by almost pungent earth, animale, humus and underbrush nuances to shine. There is terrific punch and muscularity to the big-bodied, intense and mineral-driven flavors that display excellent delineation on the beautifully complex and hugely long finale. This is a very serious and built-to-age effort that will require plenty of patience before it reaches its peak.

From superstar winemaker -- Mark Herold
The rare wines of Mark Herold. This superstar winemaker came to fame with his Merus label that he eventually sold. He is also the winemaker for Kamen wines and consults on others. This is his own label.

2016 Herold Uproar Cabernet 2016....$63.99
The 2016 Uproar is an explosion of aromatics! Ripe blackberry, boysenberry, pencil lead, dark chocolate and crème de cassis. Subtle hints of freshly milled suede, black cardamom and dried wild flowers follow. The palate is filled with full throttle berry flavors and fine tuned tannins leading to a finish that keeps on giving. Opulent, savory and seamless this wine is an amazing expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Crafted to enjoy now or cellar over the next 15 years.

2015 Herold Flux GSM....$21.99
77% Grenache, 13% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah
The 2015 Flux, Mark Herold's entry-level red , is bold, juicy and inviting. Super-ripe red cherry, rose petal, mint and spice are all pushed forward in this racy, succulent wine. Dollops of Mourvèdre and Syrah round out the blend. Drink it over the next handful of years.
Rated 90/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2015 Herold Collide Red Blend...$23.99
The 2016 Collide is another gorgeous wine from Mark Herold. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, lavender and spice meld together in an inky, juicy red loaded with character. The Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, Carignan, Graciano blend works beautifully here. The 2016 Collide offers terrific quality for the money.
Rated 92/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

We also have a few btls of each of these left! Don't miss out!
2015 Mark Herold Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville...$91.99
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Coombsville) is dark, voluptuous and outrageously beautiful. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, chocolate and exotic spice all meld together in the glass. Racy and flamboyant – in the classic Mark Herold style – the 2015 is a jewel of a wine. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
Rated 96/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

2014 Mark Herold Cabernet Sauvignon White Label...$170.99
Only 141 cases made
Even better is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Herold White Label, mostly Oakville fruit with a touch of Coombsville. Like his other Cabernet Sauvignons it is aged 18-20 months in 100% new oak. This is a deeper, more powerful style of Cabernet Sauvignon exhibiting notes of charcoal, burning embers, blackberry, cassis, licorice and a meaty character. Full-bodied, savory and layered, the hallmark of the 2014 vintage – delicious, early drinkability – is well presented. This should be consumed over the next 10-15+ years.

Extremely pale salmon skin. Fresh red berries, honeysuckle and a hint of toasty lees on the deeply perfumed nose. Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering intense strawberry, blood orange and gingery spice flavors and a deeper suggestion of white peach that builds with air. Smoothly blends richness and delicacy and finishes very long and precise, with resonating spiciness and florality. This is an extremely interesting and in no way easy-going pink wine for the money. Fermented and raised in a combination of stainless steel tanks and concrete eggs.

Made from 45% Grenache 33% Carignan 11% Syrah and 11% Mourvèdre, it has a beautifully pure bouquet of cassis, ground pepper, violets, and spice. Juicy, medium to full-bodied, rounded, and textured on the palate, it's going to be another terrific vintage for this wine, as well as a smoking value.

Very limited Cote Rotie!

Northern Rhone Rarities from Rosenthal Imports
The 2016 Vintage marks our second year working with Xavier Gerard's Cote Rotie and first time ever having Bernard Levet's (now Famille Levet as his daughter Agnes has taken over) Cote Rotie Chavaroche on the shelf. While Cote Rotie, the Roasted Slope, often produces wines of a massive scale, these two producers are focused on the purity of their fruit and elegance over power. Don't miss a chance to try a couple of Cote Rotie's most sought after and elegant wines.

2016 Xavier Gerard Cote Rotie....$69.99
Deep bright-hued magenta. Mineral-accented blackberry, cherry, olive paste and violet aromas pick up mineral and smoked meat flourishes as the wine opens up. Shows very good energy on the palate, offering sappy, spice-tinged black and blue fruit flavors and hints of floral pastilles, licorice and cracked pepper. The floral note carries through a youthfully chewy and persistent finish, which leaves a vibrant mineral note behind.
Rated 93/100 Vinous Media
The Côte-Rôtie is a blend of Mollard (near the Côte-Blonde), La Viallière, La Brosse and La Landonne.

2016 Famille Levet Cote Rotie Chavaroche...$79.99
(we have a single magnum as well $179.99)
Small production - only 200 cases made
Dark purple. Smoke- and spice-accented dark berry, cherry liqueur and cured meat scents show excellent clarity and a building floral topnote. Concentrated but energetic blackberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors pick up candied violet and olive notes on the back half. In a distinctly old-school style but not at all rustic. Finishes chewy, sweet and extremely long, with steadily building tannins adding shape and youthful grip.
Rated 95/100 Vinous Media
