Italian beer rarities...

Birrificio MontegiocoTibir....$22.99 / 750ml
"White grapes lager, 7.5° alc/vol, golden with thin and compact foam. It is a highly carbonated sparkling beer produced through the processing of the one and only local wine grape: Timorasso. Floral and fruity aroma which recalls pear and rose. Great freshness due to its sparkling consistency and sourness.Tibir belongs to a new class which has been growing up during the last few years and it has not a really definite name. In fact even if it is a fruit beer, an already existing category, its liaison with wine represents its distinguishing mark. Tibir for instance is produced using Timorasso, local white grapes, and wine yeast but some other techniques include a barrique-maturation-method." -- importer

Baladain Xyauyu

ABV = 13%

Teo Musso produces three versions Gold, Silver & Copper label which differ from each other in terms of degree of oxidation allowed and fruity perfumery aromas created.

"….We are entering now a world of magic, surprises, rhythm where the “sin of gluttony” can be committed without remorse. Here, Teo has made the “drawing room beers” or “dreaming beers” brewed with an oxidation process called Solera, coming to an exceptional result. These beers (XYAUYU’) are marked with the three most important metals of gastronomy: gold, silver and copper.
It is advisable to sip and enjoy them on a comfortable sofa, relaxing and daydreaming. The bottle when is opened remains unaltered and can be even drunk and appreciated within a long time." -- importer

Roger Protz, The Classic Bottled Beers of the World
"Here is a beer that proclaims quality and antiquity. It comes in hand-corked, sealed and numbered bottles with a handsome label showing the brewery in Victorian times. It is brewed and fermented in old wooden vessels including some 'rounds' - rare iron-hooped fermenters.

"Each bottle of Prize Old Ale is cork-finished, sealed, and numbered. Prize Old Ale is unfiltered and unpasteurized. It is brewed from floor malted Maris Otter and minute amounts of black malt. Hops are Fuggles, Goldings and Challenger. It is reddish in color with hops and apple fruit on the nose, spicy and malty in the mouth, and a dry, even tart fruity finish with hints of raisins and apple.The slow work of the yeast in the bottle may increase the alcohol content to 12% or even more. After several years of aging Prize Old Ale gains a more complex palate with Calvados like character. It is said that Prize Old Ale is at its best after 20 years of maturing." -- importer

Lakefront Brewery

In stock now at Forsyth
"Milwaukee’s own Lakefront Brewery Inc. started in 1987. The industrious and inventive microbrewery located on the Milwaukee River has become a Milwaukee landmark. Its rich history includes partnerships with local taverns, preservation of local historical pieces, unique tours, family style dining options and most importantly, great beer.

President Russ Klisch said it all started with his brother, Jim. Jim expressed interest in beer making near his birthday and Russ humored him by giving him a book on the subject. To Russ’ surprise, Jim read the book and brewed the beer. According to Russ, Jim was not known as a gourmet cook, but he made a good beer. Russ was impressed, but decided he could brew one better. In short, sibling rivalry and common interest lead both to begin entering beer making contests and winning awards. It wasn’t long before family and friends encouraged them turn their hobby into a business." -- brewery
