2007 Franscican Cabernet Sauvignon....$16.99 net
Compare to $28 Suggested retail on Wine Enthusiast
"A terrific wine that proves you don’t have to spend a fortune for a top-flight Napa Valley Cabernet. It’s a deeply flavored, brooding young wine, filled with exciting blackberry, cassis and mineral flavors. Big in tannins, yet with a very refined, classy mouthfeel, it should begin to hit its stride after 2014. "

Limited availability at this price --
2007 Simi Landslide Cabernet Sauvignon....$24.99
Compare to $40 on Simi's website
"Deep, dark and nearly opaque with a ruby edge, the 2007 Landslide offers up evocative aromas of chocolate laced with cinnamon, blackberry, plum, black cherry and exotic wood spice. On the palate, a velvety entry is followed by concentrated black cherry and red plum fruit accented with toffee. It finishes with a hint of roasted coffee. Supple tannins add depth and length. This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with filet mignon with Cabernet mushroom sauce or pan-roasted chicken with Swiss chard, pancetta and onions in creamy polenta." -- winery

2007 Chateau Chateau Skulls...$11.99
Compare to $19 on The Wine Advocate

"The 2007 Skulls Red Wine is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mataro raised in stainless steel. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up an expressive bouquet of garrigue, forest floor, spice box, and cherry. Forward, medium-bodied, and friendly, this savory effort will drink well over the next six years. Chateau Chateau is a label created by importer Dan Philips and marketed under the R Wines umbrella. Its stated purpose is to demonstrate the effects of soil and place on Grenache (and blends) from the best terroirs in Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. The Barossa Reserve wines are limited production cuvees, most of them under 150 cases. Each has its own distinctive label representing its place of origin."

Amazing label. Do you see the skull? Do you see the tree? Do you see the man?

95 point Chardonnay

In stock at Forsyth now.

Limited release of this great Chardonnay....from one of the most famous Chardonnay vineyards....

2008 Stonestreet Chardonnay "Upper Barn"...$49.99
"From a vineyard made famous by Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer, the 2008 Chardonnay Upper Barn offers lemon zest, nectarine, honeyed brioche, citrus, and crushed rock-like characteristics in its full-bodied, beautifully textured, pure, dense, complex personality. It should drink well for a decade or more.

These are far and away the most impressive group of Stonestreet Alexander Mountain estate wines I have ever tasted. Kudos to proprietor Jess Jackson and winemakers Graham Weerts and Marcia Monahan for exploiting this high elevation terroir. This has been a work-in-progress for Jackson, and he has finally hit paydirt with the following wines. Readers need to pay close attention as there are some amazing Chardonnays as well as red wines emerging from Stonestreet."

Firestone Walker ABACUS

gone again - sorry

2011 Firestone Walker Abacus....$12.99 / 22oz
Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.
