I rounded up all extra beer stock from all of our locations and have them at Forsyth now.   Tomorrow morning before we open, I will put a number of beers on sale - look for the "red" price stickers.  I just want to lower the inventory moving into the slower season.  Come in and help us out before our inventory day on Sunday and Monday (we are closed both days).

HOLY SMOKE 6 % alc/vol, 32 IBU, is a Rauch Beer lager brewed in the true Bamberg tradition. Smooth, assertive and well balanced. This beer was the winning recipe from the Norwegian homebrewer's championship in 2011. We appreciate the fact that Erlann Eldorsen came to brew with us!

Ingredients: Pilsner malt, peated malt, crystal malt, Munich malt, hallertau and Tettnang hops, German lager yeast and Grimstad water.

This wine comes from the appellation of Carinena in Spain. It leans towards the "modern" style of white wine from Spain---fresh, lively, no oak and delicious. Oh, and did a mention it is only $6.99!!!!!


Tasting Notes: Offers aromas of citrus fruit, pineapple and wild flowers. Dry and extremely refreshing on the palate.

Serve With: Ideal as an aperitif, or paired with salads or delicately-flavored seafood or white meat dishes.

2009 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee...$79.99
Under the estate Domaine du Pegau label, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee is spending a longer time in barrel and foudre than usual. Consequently, I tasted through three separate foudres, all of which looked spectacular. The final blend will probably be about 80% Grenache, 14% Syrah, 4% Mourvedre and 2% other varietals. The color is a dense black/ruby (one of the more opaque 2009s I saw), and the powerful nose offers up aromas of licorice, smoked herbs, charcuterie, bouquet garni, roasted meats, Peking duck, kirsch, blackberries and cassis. An enormous success, this cuvee has come on like gang busters since I tasted it last year, and may eclipse the stunning 2007. Given its tannin profile, the 2009 will require 5-6 years of cellaring and should keep for 30-35 years. Could this be a modern day version of Pegau’s compelling 1989 Cuvee Reservee?

The current release is the result of the blend of 20% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Meunier, 40% Pinot Noir.   The color is obtained by adding 15% of red wine from Verneuil, aged at least 4 years, which gives this unique orange/salmon color.
