Tasting

Thanksgiving Day recommendations….

We are tasting these right now at Forsyth until 4pm today - Saturday (11/19)

2010 Le Cirque Grenache Gris....$15.99
The Le Cirque 2010 Grenache Gris - which I tasted just after its winter bottling - smells alluringly of iris and honeysuckle atop ripe melons and pineapple. Luscious and infectiously juicy, it saturates the palate with watermelon, Persian melon, and pineapple, mingled with walnut oil, peat, crushed stone, and saliva-liberating salinity, all of which collaborate on an exuberant finish, delivering an amazing value that will certainly continue to satisfy for at least a couple of years.
Rated 90/100 The Wine Advocate

2010 WeinKeller Erbach Flonheimer Adelberg Silvaner....$14.99 / liter
The fruity, mouthwatering wine has a nice acidity-sugar balance and comes from the so called 'Rheinhessen-Switzerland', the heartland of Rheinhessen. It has a floral bouquet and smells like yellow fruit, lemon-grass and green tea.  This is a bargain wine packaged in a liter bottle.

2010 Trois Freres Chardonnay....$13.99
Rich and fruity with a nice malolactic mouthfeel. This wine is basically "unoaked", but 8% of the wine sees used oak barrels. This just adds another dimension of complexity to the wine with out tasting any noticeable oak. This is just a beautiful wine that will surprise you with its minerality and freshness. This wine will go with a wide variety of food from seafood to chicken dishes.

2009 Beringer Chardonnay Private Reserve...$29.99
"The 2009 Chardonnay Private Reserve, which comes primarily from Napa’s Gamble Ranch site, is a bigger, richer, more nutty-styled Chardonnay revealing tropical fruit, butter, brioche and hazelnut characteristics. They backed off the oak in this cuvee, which results in more fruit, interest and personality."
Rated 93/100 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2009 Mongeard Mugneret Fixin….$39.99
100% Pinot Noir
A subtle touch of wood spice frames pretty red and blue fruit aromas that are surprisingly elegant and pure for the appellation, leading to earthy and sweet middle weight flavors that are also unusually refined for what this is and wrapped in a moderately austere but not aggressive finish.

2006 Chateau St. Jean Cabernet Sauvignon…$15.99
Compare to $27 at the winery
Inviting aromas of blackberry, black tea and hints of leather begin the nose of this Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is concentrated and structured with a ripe fruit core of dark berry fruit. The palate is round and full and leads to a lingering finish.

2009 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet…$19.99
To maintain the unique characteristics of the different lots from varying areas of the vineyard, Laurie kept them all separate through vinification and aging. Extended maceration created larger tannins to enhance the lush mouthfeel of the blend and extracted a maximum of color, aromas and flavors. The wines were then aged in small French Nevers oak barrels for roughly a year. After aging, Laurie blended the lots of Cabernet Sauvignon to highlight Knights Valley's characteristically bright black cherry fruit. A bit of Merlot was added to round out the mid-palate, and a touch of Cabernet Franc lifts the aromatics of the wine and delivers an elegant finish.

2009 Château de Ségriès Lirac Rouge Cuvée Réservée....$19.99
50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Carignan.
"More serious, structured, and meaty (than the CDR) is the 2009 Lirac Cuvee Reservee. Fifty percent Grenache, 30% Syrah and the rest Cinsault, Mourvedre and Carignan, this has more earthy, foresty notes, an opaque ruby/purple color, hints of incense, blue and black fruits, medium body and light to moderate tannin in the finish. It is just becoming drinkable yet should age reasonably well for 5-7 years. The new releases from proprietor Henri de Lanzac are all impressive." - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2009 Rubus Zinfandel Lodi…$15.99
Ruby red in color, with red fruit, raspberry, and spice on the nose. This wine is medium in body, with notes of ripe cherry, cedar box, cinnamon, anise, black pepper, and hint of smoke on the palate. It has a long, silky finish.

2009 Chateauneuf du Pape are here...

Great 2009 Southern Rhones....in stock now at Forsyth

2009 Domaine Gerard Charvin Chateauneuf du Pape...$55.99
The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape (which tips the scales around 15% natural alcohol) is a great example of traditional Chateauneuf du Pape winemaking. A dense dark ruby color is followed by a sexy nose of raspberries, ground pepper, spice box, damp earth, kirsch and dark currants. Full-bodied, complex, elegant and already irresistible as the tannins have completely melted away, it can be drunk now and over the next 15+ years.
Rated 95/100 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2009 Domaine de Ferrand Chateauneuf du Pape...$55.99
A candidate for wine of the vintage, the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape (a tank-aged blend of 90% Grenache and the rest Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsault from 80+ year old vines) is a naked expression of Chateauneuf du Pape that is pure fruit and complexity. Its dense purple color is followed by aromas of melted licorice, charcuterie, Provencal herbs, black currants, roasted meat, plum sauce, seaweed and licorice. It is incredibly complex in both the aromatics and on the palate, full-bodied and super-rich with sweet tannin and low acidity. Enjoy it over the next 15+ years.
Rated 95/100 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2009 Grand Veneur Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee les Origines...$59.99
The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Origines (1,500 cases produced) is a blend of 50% Grenache, a whopping 30% Mourvedre and 20% Syrah with the latter two components spending time in new oak barrels. All of the fruit comes from vines that are nearly 70 years of age. A great wine with an opaque ruby/purple color, sensational fruit intensity and notes of graphite, lavender, licorice, lead pencil shavings and subtle smoke, it is full-bodied, rich and powerful with low acidity and sweet, velvety tannins. It should drink well for 15+ years.
Rated 95/100 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2009 Raymond Usseglio Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Girard...$37.99
The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 6% Syrah, and the rest Cinsault and Counoise, and the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Girard is composed of 80% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, 3% Syrah, and 2% Cinsault. The wines are aged differently, with the Tradition kept in 90% cement and 10% in barrels, and the Cuvee Girard aged in 80% cement and 20% in barrels. The wines are both potentially outstanding in 2009, exhibiting dark ruby colors and plenty of earth, garrigue and kirsch notes and medium to full body. I thought Weygandt's cuvee had slightly more minerality and tannic structure, no doubt because of the higher Mourvedre component. Both should be drunk during their first 10-12 years of life.
Rated 90/100 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2009 Raymond Usseglio Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Imperiale...$65.99
The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Imperiale is one of the great wines of the vintage. A blend of 90% Grenache and the rest Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, Counoise, Muscardin, and Terret Noir from vines well over 100 years of age, planted in pure sand, it is kept in concrete tanks prior to bottling. I have been a faithful purchaser of this cuvee since the 1998, and the 2009 can easily rival the brilliant 2007. Its dark ruby/purple color is followed by sweet scents of camphor, incense, spring flowers, black currants, black cherries and licorice. Full-bodied with abundant glycerin as well as lofty alcohol and sweet, well-integrated tannin in the finish, it will be even better with 2-3 years of bottle age, and should keep for 15-20.
Rated 92-95/100 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2009 Le Ferme du Mont Chateauneuf du Pape Cotes Capelan...$61.99
Vedeau's top cuvee is his deep ruby/purple-colored 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cotes Capelan. Revealing a cool climate feel, it offers notes of cool red and black cherries, spring flowers, raspberry liqueur and hints of forest floor as well as lavender. Complex, medium to full-bodied and supple with plenty of sweet tannin, it will be even better in several years and should drink well for 15 years.
Rated 93/100 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2009 Vieux Telegraph Chateauneuf du Pape La Crau...
This is crammed with fruit, spice and structure, as braised fig, plum skin, cassis and anise notes wrestle with roasted apple wood, melted red licorice and tar for now. The embedded grip should carry the finish until this assimilates fully. Best from 2014 through 2024. 5,000 cases imported. –JM
Rated 94/100 The Wine Spectator

Jordan Cabernet on sale now!!

Amazing price....

2007 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley....$39.99

"The 2007 growing season made this vintage a winemaker's dream. A smaller crop yielded more concentrated flavors in the grapes, and moderate temperatures allowed the fruit to mature slowly and beautifully. A seamless wine, the 2007 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon exudes beautiful, dense, blackberry aromas that echo through the mid-palate. The mouthfeel is silky-smooth with soft, round tannins accented by a vanilla quality from aging one year in primarily French oak barrels. Enjoyable now or worthy of cellaring through 2020." -- winery

Plus case price available!!!

Orin Swift Abstract

Orin Swift Abstract arrives -- very limited and in stock now

2010 Orin Swift Abstract California Red Wine...$28.99

Abstract came out of Dave's love of Grenache and a desire to make a blend using that varietal as the focal point. The wine has an inky concentration rounded out with Petite Sirah and Syrah.

Abstract is a blend of Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino Grenache, Petite Sirah, and Syrah primarily from hillside vineyards. The aromas are laced with crushed black fruits and bing cherry. A mouth coating entry leads nicely into a mid palate with excellent structure and balanced acidity. Ripe cherry and strawberry dominate the finish which is clean and long.
Aged 10 months in new and seasoned French oak
15.7% Alc. by volume

2009 Chateau Meyney St. Estephe....$19.99 / 375ml

"Spicy and beautiful, delivering blackberry and currant character. Full and silky, with beautiful fruit and a long finish. Score range: 92-95 –JS"
Rated 92-95/100 The Wine Spectator

2009 Cap de Faugeres...$22.99
The relatively new proprietor, Silvio Denz, has made his finest wine to date from this Cotes de Castillon property. A blend of 85% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon that came in at 14% natural alcohol, it is a full-bodied, super-concentrated effort displaying excellent purity as well as lots of minerality and floral notes imbedded in black and blue fruits. The oak is totally masked, the tannins are prominent but sweet, and the wine is fresh and precise. A sleeper of the vintage, this beauty should drink well for 10-12 years. (Tasted four times.)
Rated 90-92/100 Robert Parker The Wine Advocate

2009 Chateau La Pointe Pomerol....$49.99
Violets, berries and black olive on the nose. Gorgeous. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, juicy finish. Lovely fruit and acidity to this wine. One of the best La Pointes for a long time. Score range: 92-95 –JS
Rated 92-95/100 The Wine Spectator

2009 Sarget de Gruaud Larose....$27.99
This is the second label of Gruaud Larose. Sarget had not been rated, but 2009 Gruaud Larose got a 94-97 from The Wine Spectator and Robert Parker called the 2009 Gruaud "finest Gruaud Larose since the 1990".

2009 Bernadotte....$28.99
"The finest La Bernadotte made to date, this 2009 is an undeniable sleeper of the vintage. Composed of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, it reveals a dense purple color along with a big, sweet kiss of black cherries, black currants, charcoal, and spice. With layers of fruit, decent acidity, freshness, and precision, and an opulent, fleshy, succulent style, it should drink easily for a decade or more. (Tasted once.)"
Rated 90-92/100 The Wine Advocate

Colonel E.H. Taylor Bourbon

Another Rare Bourbon- Single Barrel

Second Release!!
Limited Bourbon Release - also online now

Colonel E.H. Taylor Bourbon....$56.99

"A few years ago at a tasting with some distillery retirees, a method for making "Old Fashioned Sour Mash" whiskey was recounted. The process, previously unbeknownst to us, replicated the way in which Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., made sour mash in his day. As father of the modern bourbon industry, Taylor's patented techniques involved allowing the mash to sour naturally for days before distillation. Distilled in 2002, and using Taylor's original souring methods, we believe this whiskey delivers character and body like none other today. Colonel Taylor, a name synonymous with quality whiskey-making, might have even said that this whiskey is "of Topmost Class".
This whiskey begins with a floral aroma and an undertone of freshly baked bread. The palate is unusually fresh and light; honey drizzled over toast. Uncommonly sweet. The sour mashing technique highlights the yeast. Reminiscent an honest whisky of old, the clean finish hints of leather and tobacco."

Bells Winter White Ale.....6pk

"Taking its cues from Belgian-style white ales, Bell's Winter White Ale offers a lighter yet abundantly flavorful alternative to the traditional heavy winter warmers. Fermented with a Belgian ale yeast, this blend of barley & wheat malts yields a mixture of clove and fruity aromas, all without the use of any spices. Deliberately brewed to retain a cloudy appearance, Bell's Winter White Ale is a beer for embracing winter." -- brewery

Alcohol by Volume: 5.0%

Bell's Christmas Ale....6pk

The basic inspiration for Bell's Christmas Ale was to create a sessionable holiday beer, using locally grown malt, which would stand apart from the array of spiced winter warmers that are typically introduced this time of year. In contrast to many other seasonals, Christmas Ale doesn't contain any spices: all of the dry, toasted notes & subtle toffee flavors come from the 100% Michigan-grown barley, custom malted by Briess Malting, while a blend of hops from Michigan & the Pacific Northwest lend earthy, herbal aromas. At 5.5% ABV, it stands as a smooth, highly drinkable beer intended to complement holiday menus.

Alcohol by Volume: 5.5%

For Immediate Release:
THE COAST TO COAST TOAST IS HAPPENING AT THE WINE AND CHEESE PLACE TO CELEBRATE THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF VANBERG & DEWULF
You are invited to attend!
November 15, 2011 – King’s Day in Belgium – marks the official day (and night) of the Coast to Coast Toast. It’s a celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the founding of Vanberg & DeWulf.  But it’s simultaneously a time to acknowledge the immense contributions that great bastions of craft and specialty beers like The Wine and Cheese Place have made to building the market and educating a generation of beer drinkers to demand and appreciate well-made beers – especially Belgian ones!
Vanberg & DeWulf are the original, most ardent and proselytizing importers of Belgian beers in the USA.  It’s no wonder they’re called the “Belgian Experts”: ever since 1982, their mission has been to support independent, family-run breweries and indigenous beer styles that express the spirit of a place. The founders, Don Feinberg & Wendy Littlefield, were the first Americans inducted into the Belgian Brewers’ Guild. They published the first edition of “The Great Beers of  Belgium” by Michael Jackson, and brought Duvel, Rodenbach, and the lambics of Frank Boon to  the States.  In the 1990’s they pioneered cooking with beer education at the CIA and The James  Beard House. Don & Wendy conceived of and built Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, NY, thereby constructing the first farmstead brewery to be built in over a century… on a former hops farm, no less.  Their brewery Ommegang was the first brewery to make all bottle-conditioned, cork-finished, exclusively Belgian-style beers in America. Every beer in their current portfolio is a major or a minor classic. So when they invited us to take part in the Coast to Coast Toast™ was there a chance we would say no? Absolutely not!
The Wine and Cheese Place has been a huge supporter of the Vanberg & DeWulf beers over the years.  So on Tuesday, November 15th from 4:30-6:30pm we are throwing our own version of the Vanberg & DeWulf Coast to Coast  Toast™ right here in Clayton, MO.  We hope you will want stop in to raise a chalice to Vanberg & DeWulf, with at least one of the more than 50 beers from 10 breweries whose beers they import.
Here’s what we’ll be pouring:
Saison Dupont, Farmhouse Ale
Hop Ruiter
Scaldis Refermentee
Castelain  Blonde Biere de Garde
Foret Blanche, Belgian White Beer

In addition to The Wine and Cheese Place, other iconic Belgian-tinged bars, restaurants and stores from New York to Little Rock, Chicago to San Francisco, and Miami to Anchorage will be celebrating along with us.

Edradour Single Malt Whisky Port Cask Matured...$59.99 / 750ml
Scotland's Smallest Distillery
Cask No.383
Distilled 2003
Bottled 2010
"Since acquiring Edradour in July 2002, I have pursued a modest programme of experimentation with the type of casks used to mature some of the Edradour spirit not needed to support our standard 10 year old product.  In November 2003, we filled a batch of 10 Bodega Port Butts with new make Edradour.  These casks had been used for at least 20 years in maturing Port in Portugal.  I have monitored the progess of maturation and have been surprised at just how quickly the casks have imparted a deep red hue and a great depth of flavour and character into the spirit.   Bottled in September 2010 this sixth release is limited to 1051 bottles." -- Andrew W. Symington, Proprietor

Edradour Dougie MacLean's Caledonia 12yr Old Single Malt...$59.99 / 750ml

Caledonia Whisky Launched

4th September 2009

Today Dougie MacLean and Andrew Symington launched Caledonia The Whisky at Edradour Distillery with special guest, The First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond.

First Minister Alex Salmond said: “Whisky is one of Scotland’s finest exports and our many varied malts and blends are savoured and appreciated around the world. Scotch whisky is an iconic symbol at times of celebration both at home and abroad - from toasting the Bard at a Burns Supper to a dram at Hogmanay. It is quite rightly a key part of our Year of Homecoming and I’m delighted to be visiting Edradour to celebrate the launch of this very special whisky to mark our celebrations.”

Andrew Symington, distillery owner, said: “We are delighted to welcome the First Minister to Edradour Distillery for the official launch of Caledonia, and to see first hand the results of our recent investments in upgrading the visitor centre and our new bottling and warehousing facilities on site. Edradour is now one of a very few single malts to be bottled at source, and we are very proud of the improved visitor and operational facilities we now have at Edradour. I first met Dougie at last years Perthsire Amber Festival, and having enjoyed the event very much, decided to become a sponsor of the 2009 event. Over a few whiskies one night we also hatched the idea of doing a Caledonia bottling to celebrate Homecoming 2009”.

Dougie Maclean said: “It's very exciting to be closely involved with Edradour in the creation of this fine new whisky for contemporary Scotland and to have Alex Salmond the First Minster here in Perthshire to launch it. My song ‘Caledonia’ celebrates a sense of belonging and it seems to have struck a chord with people all over the world, so it's more than appropriate to have a whisky associated with it. “Marie Christie, Homecoming Scotland Project Director, said: “We are delighted Edradour Distillery and Dougie Maclean are working together in support of the national Homecoming celebrations. Whisky is a key theme of the year and Dougie’s Perthshire Amber event looks set to be a highlight in the programme. Caledonia has been proven to be a hugely popular Homecoming anthem and I am sure this new whisky will prove as successful as the song.”

Tasting note: Despite the presence of a bit of unabsorbed sulfur the nose remains quite expressive and agreeably fresh with intense citrus, spiced pear and stone hints serving as an elegant introduction to the delicious, delineated and racy medium-bodied flavors that are blessed with good cut and a real sense of underlying tension on the balanced finish. This is a lovely and harmonious effort.

2009 Louis Latour Puligny Montrachet....$45.99

Tasting note: A very light touch of reduction diminishes only slightly the appeal of the detailed and quite stylish nose of acacia blossom and white orchard fruit aromas. There is good vibrancy and a hint of minerality on the delicious, round and satisfying flavors that possess good punch on the balanced and focused finish. A lovely villages.

2009 Louis Latour Puligny Montrachet Truffieres 1er Cru...$64.99
Tasting note: A discreet touch of wood frames pure and airy aromas of well-layered ripe white orchard fruit and acacia blossom aromas that are in keeping with the equally complex middle weight flavors that are textured, racy and detailed before culminating in an intensely mineral-driven, dry and refined finish of admirable length. A classy and exceptionally stylish wine of finesse and balance.

2009 Louis Latour Chambolle Musigny....$66.99
"Tasting Note:  An intense deep red. The bouquet is aromatic with a perfume of red fruits, blackberry and liquorice accompanied with smokey undertones. Lovely structure, fruity with marked tannins. This lingers on the palate making this, hands down, a very handsome wine. Tasted November 2010" -- Louis Latour Winery

2009 Louis Latour Volnay En Chevret 1er Cru....$45.99

Tasting note: A high-toned nose of fresh and airy red pinot fruit liberally cut with mineral notes that continue onto the rich, intense and vibrant flavors that are blessed with good dry extract that buffers the moderately firm tannic spine on the attractively long finish. This is very Volnay in character and should drink well relatively early. -- Burghound

2009 Louis Latour Meursault Chateau de Blagny 1er Cru...$59.99
Tasting note: A relatively reserved nose featured notes of lemon rind, acacia blossom and a hint of wet stone that carries over to the rich and round yet nicely detailed and energetic flavors that possess good underlying tension on the attractively lemony finish. I like the balance and delivery as this is light on the palate but not banal.

2009 Louis Latour Meursault AC...$39.99

"Tasting Note: A fine and balanced wine which reveals floral aromas along with hints of fresh almonds. It is best to wait 2-3 more years before enjoying this wine" - Louis Latour Winery

2009 Louis Latour Meursault 1er Cru...$59.99

"Tasting Note: An elegant, well- balanced and full wine. The bouquet is redolent of citrus, honey and a touch of oak. Long-lasting finish" -- Louis Latour Winery
2009 Louis Latour Meursault Genevrieres 1er Cru...$72.99
Tasting note: This offers a small step up in aromatic elegance with subtly, and attractively, spiced notes of citrus and, somewhat curiously, sauvignon blanc that merge seamlessly into rich, round and quite generous medium-bodied flavors that brim with an profusion of dry extract that buffers the moderately firm acid spine on the delicious and mouth coating finish.
Rated 90/100 Burghound

2009 Louis Latour Nuits St. Georges AC...$54.99
"Tasting Note: Purple with delicious aromas of red fruits and walnuts. Elegant and rounded, long-lasting on the finish with liquorice notes, this is already a very attractive wine. Tasted November 2010" -- Louis Latour Winery

2009 Louis Latour Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru...$59.99
Tasting note: Here too there is a slight touch of reduction though again not really enough to detract from the appeal of the ripe aromas of white flowers, citrus zest, resin and peach that combine with detailed, muscular and intense middle weight flavors that possess good mid-palate concentration and excellent finishing persistence. A classic Morgeot that is perhaps a bit finer than usual.
Rated 90/100 Burghound

2009 Louis Latour Chassagne Montrachet Caillerets 1er Cru...$59.99

Tasting note: A restrained and distinctly elegant aromatic profile presents pure, airy and relatively high-toned white flower, stone and dried yellow fruit aromas that are in keeping with the surprisingly rich and full-bodied flavors that retain a fine sense of cut and copious underlying material as there is lovely concentration to the textured, precise and seductive mouth feel, especially on the powerful and long finish. Overall, this is not quite as refined in the mouth as it usually is but it's still an attractive effort.

Grand Teton Wake Up Call Imperial Coffee Porter...$8.99 / 750ml

Wake Up Call Imperial Coffee Porter

Porter was the first industrial beer, brewed for the laborers of England's Industrial Revolution. Technological advances of the 18th century--such as the thermometer and hydrometer--allowed brewers to refine the brewing process. These changes allowed for brewers to create consistent batches of beer, and that beer was nearly always porter.

The addition of coffee to porter is an even more recent creation, with craft brewers of the past 30 years embracing the addition that coffee makes to the flavor and body of dark ales.

Wake Up Call Imperial Coffee Porter has a distinct and robust coffee flavor that blends harmoniously with the roasted malts. Caramel, chocolate, and black malts give this ale its dark color and overtones of caramel and a cocoa-like sweetness. Only very gently hopped, the addition of coffee shines through, providing a delicious accent to this brew.

Grand Teton Brewing Company used well over a pound per barrel of Triple Certified Espresso beans from Caffe Ibis Coffee Roasting Company in Logan, Utah. This specialty dark roast has caramel sweetness with hints of dark chocolate and nuts and a smooth clean finish. While the focus has been on finding the perfect mate for this seasonal porter, it is no coincidence that the choice of beans also supports social justice and sustainable agriculture.

Caffe Ibis is a locally owned and operated 35-year-old award winning Green Business and custom roasting house. It specializes in Triple Certified, Organic, Fair Trade, and Smithsonian Shade Grown "Bird-Friendly" coffees from around the world. Reuter's Triple Pundit called it "The World’s Most Sustainable Coffee." Over the years Newsweek Magazine, The Wine Spectator, and Sunset Magazine have all added to the chorus singing praises to the remarkable cup quality of Caffe Ibis Coffee.

The coffee flavors in this ale pair exceptionally well with meaty entrees: drink this Imperial Porter with grilled steak, barbeque spare ribs, or portabellas sautéed with soy sauce. The toast and chocolate-like flavors of the dark malt complement sweet confections. Any dessert that you would take with coffee will be a fine accompaniment to this ale. We recommend tiramisu, hazelnut scones, and German chocolate cake.

If stored appropriately, this beer should stand up to the test of time. The roasted coffee and rich maltiness will mingle together and mellow with age; but at 7.5% alcohol by volume, we don’t recommend you cellar it for much more than a year.
