Antinori Solaia

2009 Antinori Solaia Toscana...$244.99
The 2009 Solaia is one of the clear standouts of the vintage. Freshly cut flowers, raspberries, spices, mint and licorice burst from the glass as this fabulous, viscerally thrilling wine shows off its pure class. Today the oak is a bit prominent, but that won’t be an issue by the time the wine is ready to drink. In one of my blind tastings, the 2009 Solaia was flat-out great. There is no shortage of pedigree here. The 2009 has calmed down a little from its youth, when it was a much more exuberant wine, and has now begun to close down in bottle. Solaia is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Franc from a single parcel within the Antinori family’s Tignanello vineyard. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029.

2010 Clos Apalta

2010 Lapostolle Clos Apalta...$83.99
Big and rich, this red is filled with powerful flavors of blackberry, dark currant, black olive and dark chocolate that are built on an ironclad frame. Notes of cocoa powder and cream chime in as well, and the muscular finish lingers with hints of savory herb. Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2014 through 2022. 2,000 cases imported. –KM

2012 Donnhoff

More great news from the 2012 Vintage
We have told you about Burgundy, Oregon and even Chateauneuf du Pape having superb vintages in 2012, well lets add Germany to the list. The 2012 Vintage in Germany has been rated 96 Points by the Wine Spectator, the wines have a great deal of acidity and will last for ages but have the fruit concentration to be enjoyed in their youth. We just received an amazing set of wines from Donnhoff.

2012 Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermannshohle Riesling Spatlese...$56.99
Tantalizing aromas of papaya, cherry, sweet herbs and tobacco. A discreet but intense cherry flavor rises on the palate, brightened by understated acidity. Subtly spicy and long on the finish. I may be underrating this.90 points
Rated 90/100 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

2012 Donnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spatlese...$39.99

Lush and fruity, with apple compote, pear tart and lemon curd flavors that show fine balance and a lilting structure. Offers jasmine and honeysuckle notes midpalate, with a light, creamy finish. Suave and elegant. Drink now through 2035. 168 cases imported. –KM
Rated 92/100 The Wine Spectator

2012 Donnhoff Schlossbockelheimer Felsenberg Riesling Spatlese "Felsenturmchen" 750ml...$39.99

2012 Donnhoff Kreuznacher Krotenpfuhl Riesling Kabinett 750ml...$24.99
Again almost Feinherb styling, and the usual brown-butter chocolatey cardamom thing is clear, and the wine is deft and classy. It’s in the Dellchen family of savory “dark” flavors. The warm löss loam of the Kröthenpfuhl is rich in small quartzite pebbles and these, along with the fact that this is south-facing site, causes the soiil to warm up very quickly. The grapes ripen early and retain a feisty acidity.

2012 Leitz Rudesheimer Berg Roseneck Spatlese....$41.99
Seductive aromas of mango, banana, sweet herbs and honey. Rich, spicy tropical fruit flavors show a vague hint of botrytis and creamy depth. Certainly a touch on the sweet side, but nicely balanced and intriguingly long, this is one of the best spätleses of the vintage. 94 points

Barrel #25
Warehouse H
Rick No. 26
Bottled at 93 proof

"The finest bourbon in the world comes from a single barrel. That’s the way Colonel Albert B. Blanton first bottled his private reserve bourbon nearly a century ago. Blanton believed the “center-cut” or middle sections of Warehouse H were the best for aging his bourbon. Personally tasting and choosing each barrel, these barrels were reserved and bottled for ambassadors, dignitaries, family and friends becoming the world’s first single barrel bourbon. His time honored tradition lives on today as only a handful of barrels from the center of Warehouse H are selected to become Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon."

Dancing Hares Mad Hatter

2010 Dancing Hares Mad Hatter...$59.99
BLEND: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot
AGING: Aged for 21 months in 65% new French Oak barrels
WINEMAKER NOTES:

Mother Nature provided a small but concentrated crop in 2010, thanks to challenging spring conditions, and a few waves of intense heat during the growing season. The results are the darkest, most concentrated wines produced yet from Dancing Hares, including the Mad Hatter. The wine’s first noticeable attribute is its dark, nearly opaque, black color. The first aromas are of India ink, gunpowder, and frankincense, then rolling into more fruit-driven aromas as the wine reveals itself, showing intense structure and weight on the palate. Our hard work during the growing season and vintage paid off, as our wines really do represent our best efforts. There is no doubt that the 2010 Mad Hatter will age for many years, and even in its youth the wine is immensely pleasurable.

The best Bourgogne Blanc in the world?

Back in stock!

Until 1975, this wine was Meursault Perrieres!!
(now it is just "next to" Meursault Perrieres)
No matter what you call it, the wine is delicious, only 24 more bottles available

2010 Dupont-Fahn Bourgogne Blanc...$35.99

"Chaumes des Perrieres"
"Bourgogne Chaume des Perrieres comes from a parcel of vines in the Dos d’Ane vineyard, between the hamlet of Blagny and Meursault Perrieres. It was classified as Meursault when Dupont’s grandfather purchased it in 1975, but after he received permission from the authorities to ameliorate its stony soil with a layer of top soil, a dispute arose with neighbors and his property declassified. But the kinship with neighboring stony vineyards – the roots, as Dupont points out, having long since deeply penetrated the mother chalk."
 - The Wine Advocate
Son of Michel, Raymond has in just a short career as winemaker, produced some stunningly great wines from humble appellations - Auxey and Bourgogne. His most unique cuvee is the Bourgogne Chaumes des Perrieres, from a vineyard adjoining Meursault Premier Cru Les Perrieres, but only classified as appellation Bourgogne. 40 year-old vines, low yields and barrel fermentation, in the hands of Raymond, yield perhaps the greatest "Bourgogne" blanc in the world.

"Here, we have a unique cognac in the XO category. With eaux-de-vie aged for between 10 and 25 years, well beyond the regulatory six, Martell Cordon Bleu is endowed with beautiful complexity and rich aromas, making it a legendary cognac. Its high proportion of Borderies marks this blend, expanding on its caramelised character with the smoothness of sweet spices, gingerbread and roasted cocoa beans."
